Registry tweak: Change responsiveness of keyboard - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

change Keyboard Responsivness when Typing
HKCU\ControlPanel\Keybd Change InitialDelay from 144 to eg.100, or any value higher or lower

What exactly does this do? Because I played around with a lot of settings and didn't notice any change. BTW this is a DWORD value and if you choose to play with it REMEMBER the initial value. (375 Dword = 177 for Surround Owners)

if did not notice any change means the values are defaulting back to original. u need a rom and registry editor that works
i know mine works because ei see changes...one way to find out if anything is working is to disable gpu renderer for internet explorer . u will notice emails with rich text will not show up. then cange the value back again
my hd 7 says 144 value as default. i noticed the keypad in samsung phones are smoother,
so a good value for htc phones as i just tried is 200

HI
There is already a thread for registry tweak!!
why you create new thread for just one key......
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=606
read the bottom of post!
"this thread will be updated as soon as we have identify or found new entries.
Please submit any Registry Tweak you have and I will update the 1st post.

I am running DFT v4 and my registry editor works and value stays at what I set after a reboot, but can't really tell any difference. Perhaps just me.
I think Xboxmod was attempting to link to This thread which has a lot of registry tweaks. =D
Perhaps someone will have use of this though. Grats on finding the entry

Looks like you just had discovered msdn site for yourself. That's good. But only that! All posted by you registry "tweaks" (here and in another thread) are well known since .... hmmm... Pocket PC 2002 (codename Merlin) - released at the end of 2001....
What kind of increase? You don't increase or decrease anything by changing this!!!
This digits only change the poll interval!!! That means - you only change how often does the power controller check the battery voltage level!
The meaning is in milliseconds.
The regisrty has a lot of different values and keys. Are you going to start separate thread for each of them?
Stop opening useless threads!

BA Screen Resolution Hack (960 X 1280 dpi) at 268288 colors

Oh **** ... it didnt get in ....
sorry folk i forgot to zip it up before attaching.
there you go ...
btw ... i'm already using the hack ... no side effects at all ... just a more beautiful screen !!!!
Tis is how i got the numbers
16 bit = 64K = 65536 colors
1 bit = 65536/64 = 1024 colors
18 bit = 262K = 268288 colors (262 X 1024)
Does it work for Blue Angels
Re: Does it work on Blue Angels ?
The answer is "YES !"
I am using a Blue Angel with This Hack and I'm very happy about the result !!!
Try .... If u wanna revert just jot down the values so u can key them back in.
I never thot it was possible but by heaven's will I chanced upon the genius who discovered it .... i lost the link but lucky i saved it as mht. file.
Now i want u all Blue Angels out there to have the same beautiful screen i am enjoying !!!
Cheers Mates
One for all and all for One !!!
Danger !
Please don't try going above resolutions more than 18 Bit
Although it is possible to do it ... there's no guarantee that the hardware can support resolutions that high .... if your pixels start dying it's your own fault.
18 Bit is safe and good enough .... don't kill the screen by overdosing it !!!

Would someone be kind enough to post a guide on how to do this in their own words?
I've tried both apps suggested and also replaced the files but nothing seems to work.
ozVGA's files already exist in /windows and wont let me overwrite them, and when I start up SE_VGA it opens a dialog box without any text and when you close it the closes the app.

I agree with Biohead, instead of reading long info from the link on you rar file, why don't you just give us step by step how you make it worked on yours.
TX
here it goes .....
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\ Display\Active\Built In LCD
In "LCDcolors" Enter Decimal Value 268288
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\ Display\Citizen
In "CxScreen" Enter Hexadecimal Value 30
In "CyScreen" Enter Hexadecimal Value 30
Install OzVGA
These are the settings I use ...
ozVGA
MEnu&Bar Font 650 (Checked)
System Font 700 (Checked)
Hor. Scrollbar 10
Ver. Scrollbar 10
Min Scrl Thumb 10
Fonts Arrays :
SEvga : 500,600,650,800,1000
SEvga : 750,900,975,1200,1500
oz=SE* Ratio 2
Soft Reset
Goto Start/Settings/System/Screen
Set the font size to (Smallest)
As has already been pointed out, a lot of applications don't take into account the system-level font sizes in the Registry. Also, the vast majority of them doesn't check for the actual size of the screen to give you exactly the same view in VGA and in QVGA. (The most notable exception is the excellent document reader application, µBook , which offers the same resolution in both QVGA and VGA modes.)
View the screenshots below for an idea of wat it'll look like.

hardware?
friends, do our blueangels' lcd hardware support that resolution? Or is it just a programm tweak and is not a real resolution enhance?
i have no idea at all whether the hardware supports the resolution ... but the OS definitely allows for different resolutions.
Does anyone have any idea how to check if it is real ???
The only way i know how is to compare the same screen with same brightness settings against another device which is 18bit screen ... like the BenQ P50.
If anyone can do it ... please post your findings Thanks
I can only afford 1 device ... I am Poor
Thanks for the setp by step info...Iam going to try it...so it is safe to modify all the setting right?
yes it is absolutely safe ... just remember your original settings so you can key them back in if you want.
Hi Ivan, I have try it, not working so good, and the text are mixed up, even after changing the setting to the smallest, and the resolution remain the same, yes I follow your step by step, Thanks anyway.
Oh dear ... Sorry about that ... But the prospect of having an 18bit resolution blue angel would really have been a dream cum true ...
I'll experiment some other settings and post it for u guys can try ...
Will it work with a Blueangel running WM5?
Thanks.
I got no Guts to flash my ROM ... So I dunnoe if it work on WM5
But it seems quite safe to change the values back and forth ... it only affects how your screen displays stuff ... if you don't like still can go back to original settings ... I'm still experimenting
Need someone with WM5 to have the guts to try it and tell us his views.
I'll do it, but someone will REALLY have to create a really basic guide. I've never really gotten into modifying the Windows Mobile thing so I'm not 100% whether I'm doing it right.
If someone creates a 100% step by step guide then I'dbe more than happy to try it out. I understand WHAT I have to do, its just HOW to do it.

HTC S620 AudioGain default registry values

Hello guys,
While trying to have a louder sound when I listen to music on headphone, I tweaked the registy and now I don't have any sound when playing a music file. I do have system and call sound though (hopefully).
I have a HTC S620 with WM6.
Can someone give me his default value for the following registry keys :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/Audiogain
CODEC_GAIN_HEADSET (00 think)
EAC_GAIN_HEADSET (67 I think)
EARDPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME
ENABLE_AUGA_HEADSET
HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME
Thanks in advance for your help.
EZToms
Dunno exactly how to fix your current dilemma but in the future I believe smarttoolkit has a control for max volume for the s620.
In fact, I know exactly which registry keys I modified but didn't write the values before changing them. So I just need that someone looks at his registry and give me the values he has for those keys.
So if someone has a minute to have a look on his phone, I'd be thanksfull.
Regards,
EZToms
This is a good thread to read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1096791#post1096791
EAC_GAIN_ EMBEDDED was 70, going to 80 or over wipes out the sound
RECEIVE_UPLINK 19
CODEC_GAIN_EMBEDDED 70
EARPHONE UPLINK 15
Try those and if that doesn't get it, I'll get the others for you.
Still no sound in media player. If you have the few missing one so I can try.
I copy these from my S620:
CODEC_GAIN_HEADSET 07
EAC_GAIN_HEADSET 67
EARDPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME 10
ENABLE_AUGA_HEADSET 00
HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME 11
Thanks a lot, I will try those
let me know if you need all data from there
best of luck m8!
No Windows Media/Ringer sound
Help - I have a similar problem ...
I overtweaked the settings to death.
Can anyone post the definitive complete set of default settings for
Audiogain (and Audiogain)
Reinstalling 6.1 is really not an option I want to try just yet (it took me months to finally get it workiing - with those odd email/smtp problems ... but that's another thread).
I think posting the complete set of default audio settings would help a great many people here (and even better if we can eventually get a set of optimized audio settings).
Thanks !!!
If you messed around with more then these settings, posting #149 & #150, you're gonna have to wait till someone uploads that reg key.
Yes, I messed around with the settings ... but it does not mean I hacked her! ; ) jk. Thanks for the useful link ... sort of. Great info there, but my phone still does not ring,
Hoping for help! Anyone tweaked bluetooth volume settings only to have the ringers go silent?
ThanksS

[TWEAK]Make your resistive screen (almost) as good as capacitive screen

Okay, so i've searched all over and i can't seems to find anyone else shared this tips before. My apology if i made a mistake on my searching though
So i picked this up from the X1 thread quite a while ago, can't remember who posted it first. This tweak should make your screen a lot more responsive and you dont need to press the screen hard the whole time to do stuff.
1. Get MS Compact Framework 3.5 Here
2. Get Schaaps Advance Config Tool Here
3. Scroll down to HTC TouchFLo
4. Change the pressure threshold to custom -> Click -> Change the value to 999999999 (nine 9s)
5. Change the finger pressure to 999999999 (nine 9s)
6. Done, soft reset.
Your screen should be (almost) as good as capacitive screen now (except for the multi touch of course)
cheers.
p.s All this was done in stock Touch Pro 2 ROM WWE Asia 1.19.707.2
What I do is go into a registry editor and go to
HKLM\Drivers\TouchPanel\PressureThreshold =65000 (the higher, the more sensitive)
That's good enough for me! But for those who don't like the reg tweaks, it's good that you posted that.
yea, this is for those people who doesn't like dwelling into registry (my kind of people )
enjoy it folks

am curious of that myself. mine was set to 53 . i took the plunge and set it to 65 and noticed no ill effects so far
Decreasing the value is the way to go . I've got mine working with a value of 0 and screen responsiveness (particularly with on-screen keyboard) is tremendous! No more missed swipes and touches. In fact, the screen is showing up the slowness of the TP2 in certain applications (caches on-screen key presses where program eventually catches up with what you entered).

please explain how decreasing the screen's sensitivity increases its responsiveness to touch. the whole concept is counter intuitive.

Weird I know, but I've been always told that closer to 0 is more sensitive.
So whats the verdict on if either increasing or decreasing the value increases sensitivity?
Also, I've never messed with my registry on a windows mobile device, and honestly my expirience with it on XP and earlier has been relatively minimal. Are there any toturials on how to open a reg editor in windows mobile? If I rememebr correctly on XP machines you go to start>run>conf

Don't be afraid of the registry! I use MobileRegistryEditor. You can edit the registry from your desktop with your phone plugged in via USB. Viewing the registry on a laptop screen vs. a phone IMO helps to eliminate mistakes and is much quicker.

well i tried both settings and i must say that decreasing it to 0 really did increase the sensitivity.

EDIT: its start > run > regedit
and the registry key is called "PressureThreshold"
Threshold means "the smallest detectable sensation"
so in fact, the closest the value to "0", the better (or at least that is what makes sense)
BTW, I do not have an HTC phone, nor Windows Mobile phone, .. but i am planing to buy Touch Pro2, so i read this topic, and felt like explaining the whole thing from an "English" point of view, Lol

wow, now im confused. I've only done the tweak via the advance config, never via registry. Can it be different?
Before i changed it the value of my pressure threshold was 60000 something, i cant remember, while finger pressure was 0. When i had my xperia, none if this value would shows 0. It seems that both of this value changes if you do the screen calibration thing.
oh and happy new years folks

It shouldn't make a difference, in the configuration i assume you have to touch the screen so the phone calibrate your threshold right?
so i assume you should touch it "lightly" so the phone recognizes your threshold as light, and eventually be more responsive.
EDIT: i have found this, it is related to Touch Pro, ... I dont know wither it applies to Touch Pro2 or not

As i said before, I am just talking common sense, nothing from real experience with the actual device as i do not own one, ... yet
happy holiday season!
is this a 6.5 or a 6.1 tweak?
because with 6.5 I discovered that GWE setting for touch it best set @1 rather than 0. this way the htc drivers are doing the work and not the ms...
as for the biotouch setting to zero, this would be turning the htc driver off and just using the ms driver.
(this is my assumption that the two different sets of drivers conflict)
its different? i did it on stock Touch Pro 2 6.1 ROM. Sorry about the missing info,i'll put it up on the first post.

Well I found the registry tweak I posted (post2) from a different forum. I found that the stock ROM's settings had the decimal value at 15000. When I brought it up (as the instructions said the higher the better) to 65000, I noticed that screen sensitivity increased.
I'll try "0" later on.
As for the Advanced Config settings, the Pressure Threshold setting in Advanced Config controls the registry setting I posted in post2.
UPDATE: In HKLM\Drivers\Touch Panel\PressureThreshold, in the Decimal Value I tried "0" for 2 hours. I then switched to "100000" for 2 hours. IMO, "100000" was way more sensitive for me; "0" was very resisitive to my motions.
Hmmm ... I have mobile 6.5 wwe t-mobile tp2
Navigate to or search for:
HKLM/Drivers/TouchPanel/PressureThreshold
and
HKLM/Software/OEM/TFLOSettings/FingerPressure
If you wana test how mobile figures out how to set it ..
goto: settings / system / screen / align screen
and run the alignment test ..
If I PRESS REALLY HARD EVERYTIME I get ..
fingerpressure 22
pressurethreshold 48
If I PRESS REALLY SOFT EVERYTIME I get ..
fingerpressure 26
pressurethreshold 57
So ...
If I Set BOTH to 10 it should make it harder to push / scroll ???
and I Set BOTH to 100 it should make it easier to push / scroll ???
Because I change them and it doesnt really seem to make a difference
What do you guys get when you run the screen test and let mobile figure it out ?

I didn't do a screen test, but for the set both to 10/100:
Make a greater difference. Example: set both to 10. Then for comparison, set both to 10000. With the greater difference between 10 and 10000, you should see a greater difference in the behavior of the screen.
EDIT: I did the "test" for the screen.
Results (hard test):
Finger Pressure: 21
Pressure Threshold: 48
Results (soft test):
Finger Pressure: 24
Pressure Threshold: 54
So I guess, the higher the numbers, the more sensitive it would have to be?

decrease screen brightness of omnia 7

is it possible by a registry hack or something?
if not, do you think it'll be ever viable?
didnt find anything with google,...
have you tried settings > brightness ?
still way too bright.
if anything is ever found, it will be posted here. i would ask for it, just in case thres no one already looking into it.

HI, i downloaded about two weeks ago registry editor from the website TouchXperience for my samsung omnia 7. I was searching registry and i found the option where you can set minimum and maximum brightness, as i remember it was 0 - 25.. Just download registry editor, hit the search button when you are in menu and search for brightness.. It will come up with this string..
Please note, that i didnt try it but it is definitely there..
yeah the SAMOLED is definetly too bright for my eyes too, but you need to know that you won't see a damn thing on it under sun light if you'll lower it..
thanks!
can you tell me which value exactly i have to change, noodles?
dont wanna f* up the phone...
i changed some values of min & max, but it had no effect on the backlight apparently ....
maybe one has to tweak the other parts of this registry sector.

[MOD] reg edit to get higher resolution so metro apps will work

When I first installed windows 8 I was really confused with all the metro app icons, when i clicked on them nothing happened. I started thinking they were fake and were placed there for looks. I searched all over the place and found that if your resolution is not high enough the apps wont load.
so, here is a regedit i found a long time ago to activate 1024x768 and 1152x864. seems like 1024x768 is the lowest resolution that is needed for metro apps to work.
1) Run regedit
reg edit can be found in the windows folder
2) highlight the higest tree level (Computer)
3) Search for “Display1_DownScalingSupported” and changed it from “0″ to “1″
3b)some have reported that there may be more then one entry that needs to be changed so make sure to search the entire registry
4) Restart the system
5) Enjoy the two new resolutions: 1024×768 px and 1152×864
the metro apps will work now.
I'm using a lenovo s10-3t but this should work on many other computers.
I could just change the resolution in the normal Windows 7 way...
Me to but my problem is that I have an eeepc 1000h which supports max 1024x600, what I have to do in this case...
I have a Acer netbook and have the same problem. I did try the apps with an external monitor which worked fine.

You have to hack the registry to enable a higer resolution, I created a reg file for you, download it, double click on reg file, click yes and restart, now check your resolution settings. If this dosen't work try this:In regedit search with ctrl+f for Display1_DownScalingSupported and change the value from 0 to 1 and keep searching until you reach at the end of registry because are 4 or 7 with "Display1_DownScalingSupported" name, restart and check your resolution settings.
All the best

yes you can change it that way, but for me and many others the max will be 1024x600 and we won't be able to go anyhigher with out the regedit. So after the regedit those 2 higher resolution options will be available. then we will be able switch to them "in the normal windows 7 way."
I think this problem is prominent on smaller laptops or netbooks that have10in screens or smaller.

They wont work on the original resolution, from what I have read. Maybe in the beta release or the final they will support a lower resolution. But as of right now this is the only way.

Worked perfect on my acer aspire one zg5. After I finally got the display drivers to install.
Installed reg file from this thread. Didnt do the trick. Searched registry and found 3 more, changed to 1, rebooted and bam extra screen resolutions.
If anybodys having problems installing drivers for acer AOA150(zg5) pm me and Ill link to the proper drivers. Tried a bunch and this one is the only one to work.

After the first result hit again ctrl+F and do another search, change the value and repeat this step until you get a message which says you reached at the end of the registry (something like that).

ok..try this: Uninstall the software and driver of the video and restart, now go in Control Panel>Device Manager and install the driver of your video manually, after this, hack the registry and restart your notebook, check your resolution option. This is all I can do for you
All the best

Worked perfect on my acer aspire one zg5. After I finally got the display drivers to install.
Installed reg file from this thread. Didnt do the trick. Searched registry and found 3 more, changed to 1, rebooted and bam extra screen resolutions.
If anybodys having problems installing drivers for acer AOA150(zg5) pm me and Ill link to the proper drivers. Tried a bunch and this one is the only one to work.
