HTC S620 AudioGain default registry values - HTC Excalibur

Hello guys,
While trying to have a louder sound when I listen to music on headphone, I tweaked the registy and now I don't have any sound when playing a music file. I do have system and call sound though (hopefully).
I have a HTC S620 with WM6.
Can someone give me his default value for the following registry keys :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/HTC/Audiogain
CODEC_GAIN_HEADSET (00 think)
EAC_GAIN_HEADSET (67 I think)
EARDPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME
ENABLE_AUGA_HEADSET
HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME
Thanks in advance for your help.
EZToms

Dunno exactly how to fix your current dilemma but in the future I believe smarttoolkit has a control for max volume for the s620.

In fact, I know exactly which registry keys I modified but didn't write the values before changing them. So I just need that someone looks at his registry and give me the values he has for those keys.
So if someone has a minute to have a look on his phone, I'd be thanksfull.
Regards,
EZToms

This is a good thread to read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1096791#post1096791
EAC_GAIN_ EMBEDDED was 70, going to 80 or over wipes out the sound
RECEIVE_UPLINK 19
CODEC_GAIN_EMBEDDED 70
EARPHONE UPLINK 15
Try those and if that doesn't get it, I'll get the others for you.

Still no sound in media player. If you have the few missing one so I can try.

I copy these from my S620:
CODEC_GAIN_HEADSET 07
EAC_GAIN_HEADSET 67
EARDPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME 10
ENABLE_AUGA_HEADSET 00
HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME 11

Thanks a lot, I will try those

let me know if you need all data from there
best of luck m8!

Help - I have a similar problem ...
I overtweaked the settings to death.
Can anyone post the definitive complete set of default settings for
Audiogain (and Audiogain)
Reinstalling 6.1 is really not an option I want to try just yet (it took me months to finally get it workiing - with those odd email/smtp problems ... but that's another thread).
I think posting the complete set of default audio settings would help a great many people here (and even better if we can eventually get a set of optimized audio settings).
Thanks !!!

If you messed around with more then these settings, posting #149 & #150, you're gonna have to wait till someone uploads that reg key.

Yes, I messed around with the settings ... but it does not mean I hacked her! ; ) jk. Thanks for the useful link ... sort of. Great info there, but my phone still does not ring,
Hoping for help! Anyone tweaked bluetooth volume settings only to have the ringers go silent?
ThanksS

WM6 A2DP best settings here

After discussions with Sleuth255, I've done some further testing on the registry settings and found some optimum settings for A2DP. These are applicable to the newer releases of WM6.
Finding #1:
ADD/CHANGE the following values from the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings :
Name: UseJointStereo
Value (DWORD): 1
What this does is enable Joint-Stereo for the SBC codec, which is important and makes the biggest significant change to improve sound quality. (Note: In earlier versions of WM5 and WM6, Joint-Stereo was broken and resulted in a mono-output. This is not the case anymore with the newer WM6 ROMS.)
Further note: Sleuth255 found that some of his A2DP headsets could not work with JS turned on. In that case, you have to set the value to 0 to disable JS (resulting in poorer quality sound with more "hissing").
Finding #2:
REMOVE the following values from the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings if they are present:
- BitPool
- MaxSupportedBitPool
These values are used to manually set limits for the BT stack for the A2DP SBC codec. Previously, it was thought that these values should be set between 38 to 86. But if the values are removed, I think that the BT stack automatically chooses the best BitPool values for maximum quality. I've tried removing these values and the sound quality either improved or at least stayed the same.
[ SUMMARY ]
At this point, you should have only one value in the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings:
UseJointStereo = 1
Your A2DP audio should be very good at this point - almost indistinguishable from a wired headset. However, if you are still unsatisfied with the sound (you may notice some very slight "hissing" or "swishing" sounds on high frequencies of certain songs), you may want to try the optional setting below.
[ OPTIONAL ]
Finding #3:
This is optional, and a matter of preference.
ADD the following value to the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings:
Name: SampleRate
Value (DWORD): 48000 (decimal)
This forces the A2DP stack to send the audio to the headset at 48000Hz instead of the default 44100Hz. For some reason, I find that the 48Khz value makes the "hissing" sounds less obvious. Your findings may vary, as some people may prefer the slightly more forward sound of the original setting. But if you are game, give this a try - one thing for sure is that it definitely changes the sound quality.
To reverse the change, just remove the SampleRate value.
If you make this 3rd optional change, you should have the following values in the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\A2DP\Settings:
UseJointStereo = 1
SampleRate = 48000
[ Note - Quick tip on registry editing ]
Of course, every registry change needs a soft-reset to take effect. And please take the usual proper care when editing the registry or risk damaging your device.
Find that your settings dont "stick" after a reset?
Make sure you reset the phone like this: After making changes to the registry, exit your registry editor. Then press and hold the power button of your phone for about 5 seconds, a window should pop up asking you if you want to shutdown your phone (click Yes). Once the phone has shut down, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the phone starts up again.
Happy listening! BTW, I find that Mortplayer is an excellent MP3 player to use with A2DP. It works well with the control buttons on my headset.
Tried steps one and two... YAY! *throws away wired headset* Thanks guys!
Well just when i thought my headset was sounding banging. now im gonna try this. Hope this helps. And awesome job on the findings guys.
Yeah.... I remember that about bitpool/maxbitpool. Back when A2DP first came out on the Tornado we never set any of these. No values lets it dynamically adjust.
These are great settings btw.
Well I thought I was happy with my audio but I've just applied the tweaks and I'm listening to my favourite tracks and the improvement is great. youre right, the hiss has gone and although I hadnt thought it that noticeable before, this is so much cleaner.
I have the latest lsvw rom and and am running the new htc audio manager and I didn't think I would ever hear bass on my tytn!
And now I'm listening to my favourite Stevie Wonder track on wmv lossless in WMP and its fab!!!
Interestingly, I've just checked the reg settings after soft reset and the SampleRate key is gone!
I'll reapply it, soft reset and see what happens.
Many thanks for the info.
This time the samplerate stuck and it even better!
Thanks much, this is outstanding!
Can post a A2DP patch from the recent WM6 ROM?
Can Sleuth255 or anyone bless us, the poor smartphone users here who still suffer the 'hiss', by posting a A2DP patch from the latest WM6 ROM (like the previous Tornado A2DP patch) to install in our outdated WM5 devices? Please. The entire smartphone community here will thank you, if the patch free us from the terrible 'hiss' problem in WM5 roms.

PURE BRILLIANCE!!! I tolerated the hiss before as this device was my first with A2DP and I likened it to listening to the radio, but HOT DAMN it sounds fan-freakin'-tastic now!
Can anyone make a CAB file for this to make the edit easier for the general public?
Great job guys!!! Makes my 50 dollar Nextlink spider headphones great No skipping too!

We'd have to graft the entire bt stack onto WM5.... not an impossible task I suppose but not an easy one either....
Great work on this, hardcore.
Well done Hardcore!!!!!!!
I have personally never had problems with quality on A2DP.
Sleuth 255 provided the fix with the earlier WM5 OS.
From AKU 3.3.1 the only registry fix was to set the Joint Stereo to 0
I had no problems with WM6 but the later releases definately had great improvements to the total BT stacks.
Well I am always ready to try new work by the members and respected cooks on this Forum.
Your work on the A2DP has blown me away!
The sound is phenominal to say the least.
I use Nokia HS-12W and HTC BH S100 BT Stereo headsets and both are great. But I must admit that the Nokia has the edge all round. Connect and all functions work great. With the HTC I always have to reset the "set as handsfree"connection to pick to the phone side through BT. The A2DP connects automatically. Just a small issue but irritating.
I could not do your edits with Resco and then tried TaskManager reg editor.
The changes would not stick on soft resetting using the phones reset switch.
Eventually I twigged that I could make the changes stick by using the TaskManager reset button in the program.
Thanks for the info. - this is really what XDA is all about!
Keep up the good work and I repeat the call for a cab fix. This will make your fix non lethal to noobs who are not fimiliar with reg editing.
Hi Hardcore,
Is Core2.0 considered a later WM6 ROM? Coz, Setting UseJointStereo to 1 does get rid of the hissing but unfortunately it also get rid of the Stereo on my Wizard...
Halleluja! PTL!!
Excellent discovery, hardcore. After months of experimentation and cussing and swearing, this is the closest that my TyTN/Logitech FreePulse combo has come to perfect stereo audio. Still not as good as when I paired the FreePulse with an HP iPAQ with the Widcomm stack, but pretty damn close. I still get pops and clicks, which was new with WM6, but no skips or other artifacts. And I was almost ready to give up and look for another pair of BT headphones.
Interestingly, I did try removing the BitPool and MaxSupportedBitPool settings at some point during my experimentation, but this was either with an earlier WM6 build or with WM5.0, and the net result was no audio at all.

Hi new2city,
What you described is the behaviour of the older ROMs. In the newer ROMS, you should get real stereo sound with UseJointStereo=1.
These are the Hermes WM6 ROMs I have tried which have the "good" A2DP: Black 2.5/3.0/3.0.1, CUSTEL 2.5, LVSW 05-07 and newer LVSW derivatives.
excellet work .... no hissing now
how do i fix this??
anyway when connected with A2DP mode, all incoming call ringtone will play to the stereo headset and the phone will not ring at all, (its as though the ringtone is diverted to the phone)
but if i switch it to headset mode (not A2DP), the ringtone will play on the phone and the headset with play a beep sound for incoming call.
I want it to be connected to a2dp and yet the ringtone still ring on my dopod phone...

Hi Hardcore,
Just one question, in the Hermes, do you have the usual bluetooth dlls? SBC.dll, bta2dp.dll and so on? If so, any chance to upload them? I asked this before once almost a year ago but no one offered them... sigh...
Downloading Custel to hopefully extract the files.. gonna take a while...
thanks anyway.

Yes the sbc.dll and a2dp.dll exist in the ROM. However, I dont know how to copy them out from the ROM. Attempts to do it using Total Commander and Activesync have failed.
Got the dll's out of the Custel ROM I downloaded but unfortunately, I can't seem to replace the versions in my running rom as the files can't be overwritten OR copied in the windows folder. Any guys with a clearer picture willing to lend a hand. Been trying to fix this since I joined this forum...

How to silence camera?

Is there an easy way to suppress the sound effects when using the camera?
Doh! Sorry - I just found it on the 2nd menu options page of the camera app...
Where? I'm blind?
Call me stupid, but I don't see the sound options in the Camera settings. I too am looking for a way to silence the camera sounds when taking pictures.
In the Camera settings, go to the Advanced Options. On the 3rd page is a "Shutter Sound" option.
Just a FYI
Hey there!
Well is you have the Telus version YOU ARE SCREW like me
the option is not there
but I found that if you call your voice mail and take picture at the same time, you will get the sound from \windows\shuttersound.wav witch is quiet compare to the rom one.
I did try to delete the file but it keep getting copy over after a softreset
good luck men

I have an unlocked device so I can disable the sound via the camera app settings. But for those of you who can’t, perhaps you can try messing with this registry entry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\General\DisableShutterSound
If it doesn’t work, place the unzipped attached file into your Windows directory. It’s just a blank wav file (created by opening Windows Sound Recorder and clicking “Save as” without doing anything).
If it still doesn’t work, then maybe you’ll need a wav file recorded with a second of silence…
Thanks but..
Thanks for the reply but that is not working.
I still wanna use the stock phone for now.. but one day I will jump the fence..
I did Try the registry change(S) .(went all through all the reg. to find out something else) deleting reg word and folders (not the greatest solution but i was trying...
had to hard reset 2 times.
I did try to install about 6 others HTC camera cabs..from tp hd etc custom software
I deleted the .wav file I did try to replace it with a silence file. but a soft-reset will re put it back
don't worry about it.. I did try and I FAILED

Hello HTC Friend,
I did try your Cab file ... and I still have the "Big" shutter sound + the CLICK from telus. I did try many others "cab file" to remove the shutter without success
The "work around" I found use the windows sound file but it really not a good solution to call your voice mail and then get your pic.. ( often too Late)
I did saw the windows\******* in the past (the reg changed was done) noting happen
It look Like TELUS overlap the "windows/HTC" camera function.
What really bugging me is That I CAN'T find the "occ/wav/mp3/midi/audio" file that generate the shutter sound (w/total commander or explorer)
Is it possible that the file would be hidden in The ROM ? and Can't be change unless you move to a custom rom ?
I "kinda" scare to change my rom .. I really depand on my phone.. ( no line at home and I need it to open the door of my App) So I really need something 101% working.
Thanks for you help

I tried the cab, but it does not work on my TP 2, which is the Australian version. I have tried to play around with many reg edits but nothing is changed. Somebody in the other forum managed to modify the camerarc.dll for the Touch HD and Touch Diamond, and it worked for those phones. I wonder if there has been a DLL modification for the Touch Pro 2 version as well?
You may check this thread on modifying the DLL file on ther HTC model to silence the sound.

ATT Tilt 2 In Call Volume

Curious what other people's opinions are about the Tilt 2's in call volume? It seems a bit low at max volume and kind of muffled. I've been messing with registry hacks and the AudioPara3 files to see if I can make any sort of difference, but to no avail. Wondering if it's just my phone or not?
Nvm.. AudioPara files fixed it finally.
Phone shipped with the following AudioPara3 files:
AudioPara.csv
AudioPara3.csv
AudioPara3_ATT.csv
AudioPara3_ATT_10776_V2.csv
AudioPara3_TMO.csv
AudioPara3_Boot.csv
First off, your registry points to which CSV file to use...
\HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev : AcousticFile
Mine was pointed to the ATT_10776_V2. Changed the registry to a few others but it didn't seem to make much of an improvement. The others on this thread said they had better volume quality with the original ATT. Went to their zip files and indeed, the ATT is different. Grabbed it, renamed it AudioPara3_ATT2.CSV and changed the registry key. Soft reset and much better!

Hello there... you should change the topic to something like AT&T Tilt 2 Muffled / Broken Speaker ISSUE... (so more people can see it and come here)
just got mine yesterday and everything about the phone is great except the muffled / broken speaker sound during call... I'm going to try your solution right know... if it doesn't work... will return it first thing tomorrow... I have to set sound volume during call at half or even less so I don't get this broken speaker sound... I think mine is worst than yours...
anyone else with this issue?
thanks!
EDIT >>> Just tried a bunch of AudioPara3 files and the question is... which was the worst... This is a hardware issue... a huge hardware issue... I really don't think anything will solve this (unless another Tilt 2) any ideas anyone?
I'm having this problem as well. Sort of like someone is holding a pillow over the speaker.

Hello there... just came back to the post to let you guys know that this issues are hardware related... sorry... but it is the reallity. Today I went back to AT&T and I returned the "muffled/broken speaker" phone... and I got another with 2 dead pixel's right in the freaking middle of the screen... I noticed it on the store and change it back again... and finally the 3rd Tilt 2 works flawless... ( and all 3 Tilts were opened by myself, not refurbish/used etc... so... the question is... is it just me with the worst luck on Earth... or the Tilts are actually having all sort of issues??? I upgraded from an HTC Tilt (the original) and that one is still rock solid and working great... so... anyone with issues with the new Tilt 2???
thank you...
same here, dont know if i just should go and replace it, did anyone try replacing and did they get anything better in return?
having similar things on tmo tp2.. i wish its software problem

muffled sound fixed(at least for me)
I'm a ATT tilt 2 user and couldn't hear anything, the sound was just horrible(muffled) I was about to return this phone, but i started doing some diggin and found this:
use this file attached, unzip it and place it in your \windows directory, and then go to:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev\AcousticFile and point it to you new file, which is; \windows\AudioPara3_ATTMax.csv
and also modify those registry settings:
Increase voiceVolume:
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: AttenuationCategory
Default: 2
New Value: 1
Registry: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InCall
Key: InitVol
Default: 3
New Value: 7
this is exactly what i did and it worked for me, it nice crisp and actually little too loud now, but that's why you got your volume control on the side.
Please post results.
Worked for me! Thanks!
sorry if this is stupid question but I dont understand the direction about pointing the registry to the new file. Also in my registry there is a HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev but there is no subfile under WaveDev called \AcousticFile. I have a tilt 2 with the energy rom

manually create such string key putting a path into quotes
Improves the volume well, but still a little muffled sounding. It sounds fine, you can hear the other person, it's just different from what I'm used to. Maybe it's meant to be softer sounding...
could you be specific on how to manually create such a string key and putting it into quotes.I'm using mobile registry editor.

Increase Incall Volume for Tilt2???

Attached below are all files/cabs ive tried and none doing any better then the other. Sure the bluetooth volume is increased as well as the speaker on the back of the phone, but looking to also have the small speaker (that you normally use to listen to the other person, one on the front of the phone) to increase since its still low even at the max level! Any ideas? Ive tried installing the full audio boost cab, then the tilt2 specific cab (anyone know what the difference is here?), then copied and overwrote the audiopara3 file in windows, soft reset, even tried a soft reset inbetween each process and still no good. Any ideas?

Try the files I attached, and then reset the phone before attempting, also make sure the volume is all the way up before testing incalls.
Files included are:
AudioPara3_AttMax (Directly into Windows folder)
Bluetooth Line Speed.cereg (Import to Phone Registry. I used CE RegEditor)
Modified Incall Loud Settings (2 Locations)
Ring Setting
I take no credit for the Mods.
Reboot and try it out.
Works on an ATT Tilt 2 with EU Rom Stock. (USA)

Warlock, U beat me to it, but I looked at your file, and seems you made some changes, which aren't my settings, probably to make it work with yours, but I appreciate you making one. I've upped mine as well, which is exactly the same thing as the zip folder just in cab form as requested.
So which ones do what?
This is getting confusing. We now have all these CABS. Much appreciated but which ones do what? Is there just ONE that will increase the speaker volume and earpiece volume and do they also affect the ring-tone volume? I don't know how to compare them all. Can you help clarify please?

Download the files attached to my first post if you dont mind editing the registry. And add the CSV file into the windows folder. If you do not like to mess with the registry, then download my cab file attached to my post and it will install and if you dont like it you can uninstall it from remove programs.
Warlock as nice enough made a cab file, but looking at it seems to have changes in his, so as not to confuse anyone my set of files work. But remember you must install the AudioPara3_ATTMax in the windows folder of the phone.
hey angeldeath, i modified your cab file to include the audiopara file as well.

hey angeldeath, i modified your cab file to include the audiopara file as well.
NOTE: THIS FILE IS THE SAME AS THE ABOVE FILE POSTED BY ANGELDEATH BUT WITH THE AUDIOPARA FILE ALREADY INCLUDED (it will install itself to the windows directory)

Thank you everyone, awesome work! Love it when great minds come together. Ill try this one first since these files are the ones that did the trick for me the first time. Any ideas on if i installed this cab, then installed warlock's second cab he posted? I think his first cab is just a mix of these files but his second cab is said to be different. Any ideas on that?

This cab doesnt seem to work. Just took a nap and woke up 20min late cus my device had no sound! I installed this cab, soft reset, now phone has zero sound when u adjust the volume with side hard keys in volume control, alarm clock, stuff like that theres zero sound!
Winner!

tried the increase volume cab, soft reset, checked all sounds on device and all working perfect and much louder! Im not hard of hearing, just my work environment can be very loud at times and moving around a lot i dont always feel my phone vibrate so i need a loud ringer and very loud earpiece as well!
I also installed the second cab (audio_final), soft reset, tested all sounds and all working fine.
To warlock, whats the difference between the first cab u put together and the second cab? Is it best to install both as i did or use one or the other?
I would use just one ..
try it .. if it works great .. if not uninstall it.
try the other ..
if it works great .. if not uninstall it.

Sounds good. Was just curious if one did something the other cab didnt and if it would be better to install both to get the best of both worlds? Either way, greatly appreciate the work!
still confused!
I installed marcini.thinkblu-tilt2 vol increase.cab because it reduces the bassiness heard when the headset is connected as well as increasing the headset volume. But what exactly do these other CABS do? There's the handset earpiece volume, the speaker volume, the headset volume and the ringtone volume. What does what? And as one CAB posted here appears not to work, can someone produce an alternative or one CAB that does everything? Thanks for all your input. This is a necessary adjustment to an expensive phone that we can't hear.
The Cab warlock put up after me isnt my file, the reason is cause if you install his cab his cab points to a file that doesnt exist, thats why you would get no sound. My files (In my posts) will, cause the file name it refers to is also attached to my post. So I suggest you dont mix and match or your going to have many sound problems.
These files do the following (Under my posts)
Increase the Ear piece, increase the bluetooth earpiece and sound quality, and increase the ringer of the phone to better hear in a loud enviroment.

Just to correct you .. you are incorrect. yes it does ..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WaveDev
\windows\AudioPara3_1MAX.csv
File: \windows\AudioPara3_1MAX.csv
All I did was change the name so it didnt over right any current files.
Anyway .. Use what works
< THEY ALL CAN BE UNINSTALLED>
HOLY CRAP THATS LOUD....
now i have to turn the volume down, otherwise blast out my ear drums... haha this thing is great!
can ya hear me now? YES!

oof sorry, i changed the directory of where the file was installed to \Windows instead of %windows% and now all is fixed. sorry about your nap! RE-UPPED
also, beware of any damages that may occur if you raise the volume of any speaker. This is a disclaimer protecting myself, angeldeath and warlockw from any liability in case of any speaker damage. use at your own risk xD
(im using one too, so we're on the same boat if we sink)

FileSizeLimit
How odd that I asked almost the exact same question 2 hrs earlier
Anyone solve ringtone file size limit? Or I need a good pager solution!

I really need to be able to play an extended ringtone and it seems the Blackjack II had a registry tweak to handle this. That tweak doesn't work on our TP2s tho.
I am honestly surprised more folks haven't inquired about this.
do a search on this forum for "NoRingToneLimit" - it is .cab file and it works.
I searched the forum and did not find any hits, so I did an advanced search which took me to the archives.
There is a reference to a fix for 6.1:
mikefordmustang.com/downloads/NoRingtoneLimit.cab
Can anyone confirm this works for 6.5?
Found this as well but I haven't tried it personally. Seems easy enough to test though if you want to give it a go.
- Go into HKEY_Current User > ControlPanel > Sounds
- Delete the key of FileSizeLimit
- Done, You should now be able to set any MP3 as your ringtone.

That is the same tweak I found on a google search that was said to work for the Blackjack II. There is no such entry for WM 6.5 on my gsm TP2.
I did add the entry, using a larger value, and it did not work for me.

I tested this on my gsm TP2 on WM 6.5 and does not work. It will only play 20 seconds of a lengthy mp3 file on local memory. Still looking for a tweak/fix!!

You might have already tried this, but did you search your registry to see if that key existed in some other location maybe? I have 6.1 or I'd go look myself...

You know, I did do a search, but it just occurred to me that I searched for files, not strings within the registry.
I am going to do a search on both FileSizeLimit and NoRingToneLimit as strings and see what it comes up with. Total Commander is proving to be invaluable right about now!

I do like TC and can't deny its swissarmyknife-like utility, but for when I just want to zip around in the registry, I like the look/feel of PHM_regedit better.
thx for the tip! i'll look into that ..
Use ceregeditor and browse your phone registry form your computer making it 100 times easier.
so I grabbed ceregeditor and yes indeed, it makes it sooo much easier to search/edit registry entries.
so ... my findings:
Installing NoRingtoneLimit.cab did put an entry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds:FileSizeLimit

The default Value Data was set to 0 .. this did not work.
I increased the value to a high # .. i saw 10487200 as a possible value when I found the blackjack ii tweaks .. that too did not work.
Im guessing everything Im doing works just fine for WM 6.1 .. but nobody has figured out why it doesnt for 6.5. I hope there are others out there with more insight into this. I really dont want to go back to my old phone when I go OnCall this weekend!

It works on my AT&T Tilt 2 with 6.5 - Have Hallelujah Chorus (eleven minutes) as a ringtone.
well now i'm bummed even more!
i am going to uninstall the .cab .. reset .. and then re-install .. and reset to see what happens.
iv'e tried different things to come up with a solution and nothing appears to be taking: repeat notifications, filesizelimit, notificationlayoutnew.dll ... i get zilch on each!
wow .. 11mins!
well i am just so frickin' dissapointed in this thing now. i just cant fathom as to why a GSM model would be that much different than an ATT Tilt2.
I guess perhaps using one of the many available ROMs on this site could help? Any advice, anyone?
And that made all the difference!
It finally works!
I knew there had to be something weird about my setup that was causing this not to work for me. I was timing the length of the ringtone and while the longest was at 20 seconds, there were times when it was a little as 10.
I started thinking that perhaps something was intercepting or disturbing the process that killed the ringtone. I never thought to uncheck DISPLAY MESSAGE ON SCREEN.
This is what made the difference. Once the txt message screen timed out and disappeared, the ringtone died as well. Unchecking it allowed the ringtone/vibration to play fully. WHEW! I swear, of all the things to check last ... when will I ever learn!

Hahaha congrats! I was trying to figure out what the heck could still be keeping you from playing them properly, and I honestly wouldn't have thought of that either! I bet this will lead to a lot of "a-HA!"s in RhodiumTown tonight! lol
