Moboot on galaxy nexus - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

For anyone that isn't aware moboot allows webos and Android to boot on the hp touchpad. Every time you restart the system it gives you options for either like a dos screen.
Could anyone port this and allow it to boot multiple android roms?

Android is upgrading?

Hey,
Everytime I turn on my Nexus it reads Android is upgrading' - is this the normal procedure?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
yes it seems to be normal with Android 4.0
Yes I have this too. Seems strange.

Yes, it'll do that every time you restart the phone

Yes. This is normal. This is where Android's optimization occurs (now with handy "Optimizing <x> of <y>" count to let you know what's happening) instead of prolonging the boot video. If it doesn't need to do that it just skips straight to launching the launcher, I guess...
Noted from observation, not from source code
My Galaxy Nexus only started doing this after both selecting "Encrypt Phone" and replacing my recovery image with Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.5.
It should not be happening on every boot unless you are a chronic flasher.
Mine phone did that on 4.0.1. On 4.0.2 that is gone

I got the "Android is Upgrading" when I zip-aligned all of the apks on my phone for the first time in GummyNex. So far it's only done it once, maybe twice in the last few weeks.
i only notice this after a dalvik/cache wipe. Atleast thats the only time it does this running 4.0.3 on my sgs fascinate.
Mine does this on every reboot, but I'm still on 4.0.1 where, based on earlier posts, that sounds more normal...
Only displays for a couple of seconds and nothing bad seems to happen as a result!
Mine started doing this after installing Google Wallet with that first crazy workaround. I hated it and restored my nandroid backup then used the apk that came out later and haven't seen that screen since. It definitely isn't normal to have it happen every time, except maybe in 4.0.1 I guess...
I just got this on 4.0.3 after wiping cache. Does anyone know what is actually doing. Rebuilding the cache?

Bump. My VzW GNex is doing this every boot. This has got to be fixable. Has anyone actually determined what is happening here? VzW Galaxy Nexus w/stock Android 4.0.2, rooted.

Fix what? Nothing is broken. The phone is making new app caches. That's it. There is no problem and there is no fix because nothing is broken.
its normal with my htc hd2 and nexushd2 v1.1 by tytung? =/

Me three, I saw it on every bootup until I got 4.0.2, now I never see it.
However, my phone's uptime is currently at 7days 38 mins and not lagging or otherwise needing a reboot/battery pull as older versions of Android seemed to need every two or three days. Yay ICS!
"Android is upgrading" appears when the system is generating ODEX files (optimized DEX). This essentially uncompresses "classes.dex" from the APKs, verifies them, optimizes them for the host (byte order, class prunning, ...) and writes them out in the dalvik-cache directory.
Dexopt should be performed when installing applications by the package installer though and it does it upon boot only when there's no corresponding ODEX file already. It also does it upon system upgrade, because the dalvik version likely changed and ODEX files need to be redone for the new VM.
This is a poor choice of words. "Android is optimizing applications" would be less confusing.

I don't think there's any way to do boot audio on the gnex. I've heard that it can be done if you're using certain ROMs. On most phones, you make an MP3 or whatever, give it a specified name and put it in a specified place. As far as I know, the stock ROMs don't support boot sound.

[Q] Nexus 4 boot animation

This will most likely seem like a noob question, but I can't just take the bootanimation.zip from a nexus 4 and manually install it on my phone, correct? I'd love to have the nexus 4 boot ani on my phone but can't find one specific to the S3.
Thanks in advance,

Well I'm pretty sure the process is the same. I would try it out myself since changing the boot animation incorrectly can't mess up your phone, but I havent gotten my S3 yet
But anyway, use the instructions from here to setup your new bootanimation (replacing his bootanimation.zip with the nexus 4 bootanimation.zip of course) and see if it works. Theoretically it should, because the bootanimation.zip is just a bunch of pictures essentially
Also, could you give the link to that bootanimation? I've been looking for a nice one for a bit Thanks in advance OP :good:

I don't think it will work because although the s3 has a boot animation.zip that's not how the s3 plays the boot loader it uses a different format its just there because its the way android is built plus there should be some size differences the s3 has a slightly bigger screen which should have some affect on it but hey I may be wrong but all I know is s3 uses a different boot animation format

Screen size has nothing to do with it all that matters is resolution and file size needs to be within limits to be played.
OP as long as the resolution is correct you can use the custom animation method for the s3 to install it.
I like to break stuff!
Figured it out. Thanks everyone.

As requested. I pushed to /system/media and fixed permissions. Can't promise your phone will be the exact same.
Also, I upped the Google splash screen from the Nexus phones, you'll still have the Samsung logo boot first. Use this thread to create a flashable zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1928751
My phone currently boots in this order:
Samsung Logo
Google Splash Screen
Nexus 4 Boot Animation
ROM
I assume no responsibility if anything happens to your phone. I didn't create any of this, so i'm not taking credit.

Galaxy Nexus won't boot after crash.

Hello everyone,
I own a Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM, and yesterday when i was just scrolling to my app drawer, the phone got stuck and made
a weird noise. So i pulled out the battery. When i plugged it back in, it would not boot anymore.
Any ideas?

boot animation sound

i am running dirty unicorns weekly 6/03/16 and was able to put a custom boot animation but was wondering if any one knows how to add a sound to it all my attempts have failed
It's been awhile since I played around with boot animations. But some devices, some samsung ones I know of, allowed sound. Other devices do not. I know the nexus 5 did not and I assume the 5x does not either.
