Phone will not charge!! - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am having a real problem here whenever i plug my phone into my wall socket or computer it will charge for about 5 seconds then say battery disconnected. I am on phantom hackers blazer rom v 3.7 and this just started happening yesterday when i installed 2 mods a battery icon and social hub. I restored because i thought it was one of the files but i still cant charge. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Anyone? I thought it may have been a software issue so I did a full data wipe, wiped everything and installed calkulins 2.8 and it is still doing it. Now sometimes it wont even recognize the battery when I try to charge it when the phone is off. Do you guys think its a failing battery or the phone? I should also not that the phone has always been extremely sensitive like if it I hit it by accident or drop it from even a couple inches it will reboot.

Night want to take it to sprint if it has always had issues

Well if you do have insurance they will charge you, but what you might want to tty is using a different charger.. my charger broke the other day (it wasn't charging my phone ) and i grabbed my old HTC charger. Hope this helps..

Ya I flashed it back to stock it is still messed up. Anyone think it might just need a new battery?

I mean, try the charger and then the battery. If you don't have a battery arrouns you, go to sprint and ask them if you can see if you're battery is messed up. They will more than likely give you one for free

Ya I dont but I am taking it back to sprint later today to see what is going on. I am pretty sure it is either the battery or a loose connection somewhere in the phone because like I said in my earlier post this thing has always been extremely sensitive like if I accidentally put it down hard or anything it will reboot. Also like I said in my other thread it likes to reboot randomly when just in my pocket too. I also noticed whenever I try to run titanium backup it reboots 99% of the time before it finishes.

Well the thing is I can transfer stuff flawlessly on it. I took it to the sprint store the guy played with it for 2 hours and told me there is absoluetly nothing wrong with it so I dont know what to think. It has been running good ever since I got it back. I knew that would happen though as soon as ya bring something in to get it fixed it works flawlessly! The guy gave me a new charger idk I did try numerous chargers and they all said battery disconnected but this one actually does seem to be working so we will see what happens.

Bricked my phone. What do?

So I was playing around with different kernels and whatnot but it froze while I was flashing back to stock. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot the phone but only the blue LED came out. Anyone know how to solve this issue or am I screwed?

As a last resort try a USB jig. I wouldn't mod a Samsung without one.
There are several OG Epic tricks you can try. Try removing battery and SD card and plug phone in to PC and see if it powers to download mode.

You can try saying you got some random message that an OTA update showed on your phone and you accepted it and it screwed your phone up. Just a thought coming out of left field

I had the EXACT some problem last week. I went to the repair center, said the phone was plugged in at work, we had a power surge, and afterwords the phone wouldn't turn on. An hour later...BOOM, new phone
I then went on amazon and purchased a usb jig and kept my phone stock until it came. lol
Every rooted owner should spend the 2 bucks on a USB jig. It's not the holy grail, but it's one more tool in your belt to potentially get out of a frustrating and time consuming situation.
I bought mine from here and got it pretty quickly considering where it came from ...

I forgot to mention letting it sit when I mentioned this to someone else (or was it here?) about pulling battery and SD card. Also repeatedly press or hold power button with those out to purge any remaining juice in the phone. This stuff sounds crazy but ask any former OG Epic owner.. some of these tricks have brought phones back from the dead. There isn't a pinhole under the battery cover below the camera is there?
That last part was an OG Epic inside joke but the rest is worth trying

When this issue happened to me, I took my phone into the Sprint store and they tested and found that the battery was bad. I had tried the phone of a couple of different car chargers before that and I received that same message on all of them.

Universal car chargers are very bad for batteries. You always want to charge your phone more on the original charger. Only use a car charger when it is absolutely necessary to charge your phone.

Dropped off the phone and the rep seemed to be quite familiar with the problem. She said its been fairly common recently. They ordered me a new phone for Thur. Im pretty happy cause this assurion refurb has been locking up and running super hot since I got it.

Did you have to pay the $100 or whatever the cost of the deductible is?
Ever since I flashed agats 0.6.2 kernel my battery icon blinks. An even after unplugging the phone it still says its charging. Even if I take the battery out for hours today and put it back in it says charging on the lock screen and if I try to turn on adb it says please unplug usb cord. And the other weird thing is soon as I put the battery in it boots up with out holding the power button.

If it's the same problem, I think it has to do with the charging circuits. My battery charged fine on an external charger. In fact at the Sprint store the were going to give me the old battery in my new refurb. Told them I didn't want it if there was a possibility the voltage protection was going bad, might have shortened its life.

Maybe something on the MicroUSB leads that makes it think it's still charging?

[Q] [HELP] Not sure what happened...

Hello all...
I typically charge my phone while I sleep and it has never been a problem. I was running the stock deodexed ICS rom on my phone at the time. i unplugged it and all was well as usual. i grabbed my phone to come put a JB rom on it this morning and i left it on my desk, not plugged in. I came back to it and it was HOT, the entire phone, and wouldn't do anything. I took out the battery and let it cool (phone and battery) and now I got nothing.
Is there anything I can do??? I tried to search but couldn't find anything on this...
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

my phone once was doing that same thing when it was just sitting there on the table. I picked it up though and felt it was very hot and pulled the battery before it could fry itself. It probably was some code that was looping or something because my phone never did it again

I think CM 10.1 killed my GS-III

Since December I've been running CM10 on my GS-III with little to no issues. I flash CM 10.1 mid January and even though it was an unstable nightly it was very stable.
Flashing the nightlies as they became available with no issues at all.
Then today my phone starts slowing down and froze up.
Keep in mind that I hadn't flashed a nightly in like a day or 2 do I had been using the past nightly as a daily driver.
When my phone decided to freeze I rebooted it and it booted just fine.
About 2 minutes in the screen goes black. Holding the power button it's unresponsive.
Now my phone is completely unresponsive to all button presses. I've tried the 3 button combos for recovery and download mode with no luck. I've even held the buttons for a full minute but nothing is working.
Is my phone dead or is there a possibility of resurrecting it?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium
Are you positive the battery hasn't died. That would be the first thing I would check. Even if it showed it was charging doesn't mean the battery is good. I'm not trying to be insulting either by asking this. I'm a equipment tech at a large semiconductor company and you wouldn't believe the number of times the fix was as simple as turning a breaker back on when another tech wanted to replace something major. #1 rule of troubleshooting: Is there power. #2 rule: Double check rule #1. Sounds silly, but it is the easiest thing to overlook. Good luck and I hope it's as simple as a battery.

No you're not insulting by asking that. I use to record music and when something wasn't wasn't working that's the first thing we asked and re asked.
Unfortunately I do believe I checked that out. When I plug in a charger it doesn't even show me a battery charging logo.
I have noticed that when I pull out the battery and connect the charger the led turns red.
I'll see if i can't swap batteries with one of my friends and see if that helps.

I have tried the 3 button combos for T-Mobiles variant of the GS-III with no luck either.... I even tried making a jig and didn't have much luck....
Next step is to buy a jig and see if that works
Thankfully I got a replacement GS-III from insurance. So I'm content... Also since I get to keep the other GS-III as well it feels even nicer.

Now my next step is to attempt to hope that the jig will do something for my phone.

Flash STOCK or different ROM (Don't forget kernel too) think the issue is with the Cyanogenmod, mine did something similar, when screen went dark it took literally 5-10 Power button presses to wake the phone up, sometimes it wouldn't respond, other soft keys only would light up, Make backup, Wipe, install, check everything, that what I would do

The phone is dead. My friend's gs3 died suddenly one day while I just happen to be using it. I plugged in an otg plug and few minutes later the screen just went black. I was sure it was dead when I plug in a charger and there was no sign of life from the phone.
I don't know if you have to pay a deductible but Samsung is supposedly replacing galaxy s3 for free because there is a known defect which cause the motherboard to go bad. My friend's was a Verizon model and they just replaced it free.
