Any one knows any method to increse battery life in HTC desire
If you Install a new Rom you must clear your Battery stats. Search in the Forum howto make that for your Device otherwise you see wrong Battery "Stats".
Otherewise there are some Apps where you can Incrase/decrase CPU Power and stuff like that.
update date your radio, that should increase battery life
Installing a Rom will help increase the battery life. The stock one is not so good at it.
Put animations low, display light some lower like 30% and controlled by hand, control your CPU and UV settings by hand. Check your synctimes for all your apps. I think these are the most common things to check and play with.

Thanx for making 'dasSOfa' clear. wiping battery stat won't level up ur battery life.
If u want better battery cycle, put aside eye popping rom and use some AOSP with some right kernel. That should do the trick.
I flashed several ROMs and never messed anywhere near the battery and so far, so good.
If you want longer battery life use Cyanogenmod 7.0.3 + Juice Defender Ultimate. It increases my battery life by about 50-75%
Check out EasyProfiles by SmartDyne, it helps me a lot increasing battery life..
since screen is a huge part of battery consumption, setting a darker wallpaper will increase battery life over a brighter/lighter one. by how much i dont know but it definitely helps, especially if you have an amoled screen.
this is the only thing that i can come up with other than the ones listed above.

ONLY if you have an amoled screen. Pure Black is best. If its SLCD it may even be to your advantage to have a bright one as its quite power consuming creating Black using Light.

I have poor battery life on my desire, it barely lasts 7 hours. I have tried wiping battery stats etc, and have the screen brightness at 50%. I have read that some kernels can greatly improve battery life, is this true? If so, which would you recommend, and do I just flash it like I would a rom? I am using the latest miui.
Cheers,
Steve

They can but finding the underlying app causing the phone not to sleep would be what I'd be looking at. Remove all installed apps and add them 1 at a time and see how the battery goes

Yeah i've tried this, there's nothing draining the battery.
Not at all
Such battery drainage can only be induced by either heavy usage, or phone not being able to go to sleep.
The differences between kernels in custom roms are merely a shades since all of them are pretty much battery efficient. You won't miraculously jump from battery life of 7 hours to 30 hours. Concentrate on your apps or even better, third party Widgets.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Probably a hardware fault then - the OS on it's own with no apps installed shouldn't drain a battery that quickly. Did you also turn off the sync options to test that theory?
Personally sounds like a knackered battery/phone
If it isn't apps/widgets (they are the culprit for heavy usage) then it would prob be a faulty battery. I did a little test last month to see how much battery I could lose in 24 hours. I lost 8%. I guess it could be a baseline to start off with.
anybody have any tips or hints on how to increase the battery life , have cycled from 100% to empty a few times but have noticed no real improvement and have also tried switching off non essential apps that run in the background..im stumped for further ideas ...

1. Root
2. Download NoBloat Free from the Play Shop (Market) and install.
3. Trim out unnecessary system services via this website: http://androidadvices.com/optimize-lg-nitro-hd-phone-performance-removing-bloatware/
After that was said and done, the battery life on my P930 was noticeably better.

Flash my ROM (see sig)
did u try calibrating the battery with any of the free software on the market !
i used to get 3 hours "seriously" out of this phone ... after deploating and calibration it can last 12 hours with heavy use !
I've started using an external battery charger (one of the official lg ones from Ebay) and an extra battery, and just swap them out when my phone dies, and I've noticed on the few occasions where I charge my phone by plugging it in, even though it says 100% (and I've done all the battery calibrations and everything) it doesn't last as long as when I pop in a fully externally charged battery.
My device battery life also got better in comparison to the first days i used it. But for some reason i experience some strange usage right now.
For example:
In the morning from 7 - 10am 100%... later 10% in 15 minutes, with phone in standby-mode.
I checked after i'd make a phonecall, hardware consumption for radio was on 99,9%. After reboot it was ok again, but later hardware consumption for the screen was at high level. Strange... everyday a new experience.
Turning LTE off helped my Spectrum last 24+ hours. I turn 4G on whenever I really need it, though. And with 4G on all day, I can get 12-16 hours under moderate use.

+1, better battery life than stock ROM
I have honestly never seen a phone go through battery quite like this one. I love the phone to death. It feels solid in the hand, and the screen quality is amazing. But I can't deal with the battery going like this. I input a new APN so it would just use HSPA+ .. but does that actually stop the LTE radio from searching? (I am in a non-LTE area)

I tried a trick to increase battery life by disabling a service called fast dormancy. read here for more information http://www.itcse.com/2012/10/increase-galaxy-ace-battery-life/
The most important thing which consuming the battery is the screen

My experience with this phone is that ips screen battery usege is higher than lcd and amoled
amoled phones consume less battery because amoled hasnot edge to edge backlight and pixels have light themselves.

Yes our screens are a big consumer of power but there are plenty of disadvantages to AMOLED: heat, image burn (like a plasma tv), image quality and longevity of the screen. The more pixles that are lit the more power it uses, to the point that it uses more power than IPS with large areas of the screen are lit. This along with image retention is why CM7/9/10 has black as a background for everything and stock doesn't. Think of it as LED/LCD TV's vs Plasma. Similar power curves between them.
BTW the little program above dropped my idle power usage to only 5% over 8 hours. I will be trying it with cm10 to see if I get similar results.

Hey 1ce, I'm posting here because I can't post in the Shpongle thread.
First of all, the ROM is awesome, and it makes me love using my One V because of how smooth and fast it is. However, I wanted to report few things:
1. In the ROM thread in page 128, bandit97 wrote:
So is it just me that has these battery problems?
No matter what my phone is doing. Sleep, Lock, Something, Nothing. The battery continuously drains to zero. After 5 hrs of a full charge just sitting there its dead. Never mind if I do anything. On sense roms and PA 2.99 I get pretty decent battery performance. Is there some tweaks/settings/apps I'm missing out on? I love this rom and its all around performance. But I travel a lot and I just cant afford very short battery life. Its really the only thing holding me back from using this as a daily.
Are any battery tweaks being worked on or available?
Tried
Stock Clocks/1400//BFQ/cfq/Smartmax/Smartassv2/
All the same
Any advice?

I wanted to say I'm having the exact same problem...my battery life has been reduced to about 60% of what it was. It keeps draining even when my phone is on sleep. I checked my battery usage stats (the built-in feature) and it says 50% is screen display (although I have set the brightness to the lowest possible and disabled auto-brightness).
2. I noticed when listening to music, that the media volume levels have a bigger difference than I remember having in Sense. What I mean is, that I often listen to music and the current volume level is too low, but the next higher one is too loud. Is it possible to make the difference more subtle (making more volume levels basically)?
Thank you.
I managed to get better battery performance buy using V6 Supercharge zipalign and turboboost mentioned in response to what you quoted. I also ran my battery right out and fully charged it without turning it on. Then calibrated it. I still don't even get even close to stock/sense, but marginally better. It drops 5-8% overnight now.
What clocks and IO/Governor are you running? Using auto sync or weather? Do you use greenify? Could be a lot of things.

Hello.
I was wondering if my battery life is low or not, so I want to know what your battery life is guyz.
My battery would last like 12hs with wifi always on and facebook, some music here and then and youtube. is it a normal consumption ?
There are so many variables that come into play with battery life that is nearly impossible to quantify what sort of battery life someone should be getting. Screen on time, brightness settings, radios used, reception, usage patterns, apps running in the background....tons of things that will be different from person to person. Also, the actual battery itself comes into play with how well it can hold a charge.
As long as you are happy with your battery situation, all is well. If not, perhaps look into what is using your battery. Better Battery Stats can potentially help you narrow down where things on the software end are draining your battery.

That's about what I use to get.
I went out and bought a spare battery. I'm not a fan of extended batteries so I went with a standard battery for about $10.
I also flashed a new kernel that will help on the screen brightness and underclocking.

What would be the best ROM for battery life? I'm using CyanogenMod atm and the battery life is decent. If I flash Android Rev. would I sacrifice battery life and if so by how much?

Battery usage is completely subjective so what will be awesome for one may be absolute crap to another. Only way you'll know is to try it yourself

As mentioned, battery life is completely up to your usage. Some steps to try though which can be used across any rom is to give Rom Cleaner a shot and to use Greenify. This will rid any rom of bloat that could be sucking up battery and better allow the device to enter deep sleep where the real battery savings are had.
A well optimized kernel would give you some savings as well. I can personally say that on ARHD 5.5 with Elemental kernel .15 I'm seeing about 70% battery left at the end of a normal day. For me though that may only be one 20 minute call and an hour of screen on time. Even when flashing and messing with tons of settings for hours, the phone has never reached a critical battery level for me. I
It's more about the way you optimize (or debloat) your phone , than the ROM you are running. Use battery monitors like GSam or Battery Drain Analyzer and freeze apps that are causing you huge drain. Greenify is also good. Ideally on the M8 you can expect around 6 hours of screen time if you're optimized correctly.

This. I am able to get about 6 hours on stock, ARHD and Insertcoin. With power saver on, that ends up around 7-8 hours of screen time. Coming from a Nexus 5 that got 4 hours typically, I'm pretty satisfied. I'm inclined to believe ARHD will get "slightly" better battery life than CM since it is based off the stock ROM on the M8.
Generally the OEM skinned roms have better battery life and benchmark scores opposed to aosp. Happens all the time on Sammy phones and HTC apparently too. Posts above mine cover most you'll need to know. Its all about optimization and frankly that part is extremely fun and especially rewarding IMO. Gives me an idea for something like a community made thread on different battery tweaks/voltages :good:

I'm currently using Android Rev. 6.1 odexed (using ART atm) with ElementalX 0.10. I don't know if this is a placebo effect or not, but after flashing ElementalX(with default settings) my battery life seems worse :/
