[Q] Cyanogenmod 7.2 simple2ext or darktremor help - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hey Guys i just installed Cyanogenmod 7.2 on my Gio today. Its amazing and very stable. I first flashed cwm recovery then the rom, then gapps and then the patchv4 afterwards.
Since i cant post in the developers section due to less amount of posts, can anyone tell me what is a2sdtremor and simple2ext about? All i need is something that i can move anything to the sd card and keep more ram and internal memory free, should i install a2sdtremor or simple2ext from the cyanogenmod 7.2 thread? can anyone give me a detailed guide to install it and can i still make ext2 partition and install a2sdtremor or simpleext on this rom or i have to flash the rom again? A Detailed answer about making the partition and installing a2sd tremor or s2ext whichever is better will be appreciated.

Those are scripts that can make a ext4 partition on your sd card, look like internal memory. I recommend simple2ext

so i would have to make ext2 partition manually from pc first then flash cm 7.2 or i dont need to flash again? Can you explain briefly.

It can be buggy if you partition the SD Card from recovery, you need a card reader for this job, btw don't even think to partition when the SD Card is mounted on PC.

Thanks RacerBas and LegoGabi,
I actually do have card reader i can partition from that, what is the difference between ext2 and ext4? which one does simple2ext needs?

Just read in the CM 7.2 topic what partition needs.

You need ext4, wich is faster

Thanks guys i managed to do it with the ext4 partition. Now i have simple2ext enabled on my phone .
Mods can close this topic if they want.

go for s2e , it was especially developped for Cyanogenmod, so if you use CM 7 (7.1 or 7.2 --> s2e) if you want to use other roms than go for a2sd

[Q] How to install Custom ROM on SD card ?

Hey guys ! The primary reason I switched to a custom ROM was because the HTC internal storage is VERY small. The /data partition is almost a joke.
I installed the Custom ROM of CM 7.0.2 and am pretty much back to square one. So, how do I install a ROM on the SD Card ? Do I need to format the card to ext3 or ext4 and then make manual partitions ?

Same reason here initially. Just install a rom with a2sd+ and you wont have any problems. You do need an ext partition for that tho.
You can also change your partition table than you have more space on your /data partition but you have to be S-OFF to do that.
Here's a tutorial to S-OFF: [Video Tutorial] Noob Proof Everything Desire Guide UPDATED (Go to STEP FOUR)
Here's the alpharev site (there are the partition tables): AlphaRev
Because your're using CyanogenMod you can use the Bravo CM7 table.
You can also use A2SD but your SD-card is slower than the internal storage. And yes for A2SD you need a fat32+ext3/4 partition. A tutorial how-to partitioning your SD-card is in the link above, it's STEP FIVE.
Thank you!

Insertcoin ext4 issue.

Hi I don'tknow if this is the right thread to use, but anyway. I have finished installing insertcoin Rom, and notice it asks for a ext4 on the SD card for a2sd. My question is simple, does anyone know how to activate this function
On the Rom. Or should I install my own script to make use of the partition on my SD. Thanx in advance for any replys.

I also just installed IC 1.0.9.
You have to create 2 partitions before you flash the ROM, 1 FAT32 and 1 Ext2/3/4 with 1GB. I made the partitions with AmonRa, and upgraded the Ext2 to 3 than to 4.
Have a look at the wiki of baadnwz (link is in his ROM threat). It explains it very simple.

Can I get my HTC Desire to use the SD card as its app memory?

Any one know if I can get my HTC Desire to use the SD card as its app memory?

1. root it (alpharev/unrevoked)
2. s-off (revolutionary)
3. NAND backup the current ROM from recovery mode
4. flash custom HBoot based on your requirement (refer to table in alpharev.nl)
[by this you get more internal memory increased, maximum you can get
332Mb for data]
5. install custom ROM of your choice which uses different scripts to move apps
to sd (s2e, a2sd, data2ext, etc....)
6. NABD backup the newly installed custom ROM
7. partition SD card for Fat32 and EXT3 (1gb) using gparted
8. reflash it the custom rom or restore from the back
you can refer to rooting guide which is available in the xda forum, below url may also help you regarding custom roms

What our sarcastic friend Terepin is trying to say is that you can't really use the SD card as an extension of your phone's internal memory without using an A2SD ROM.

Not to be too pedantic but data2sd too. Still needs root

Root your phone mate, and then use a RoM with data2SD If you want to stay with HTC sense then I recommend Droidzones RoMs.
This one is Sense 2.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143456
And this one is Sense 1.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045824
Note you will need a SD card class 4 and above, Read up about Gparted after you have Rooted your phone this will let you partition your Sd card Giving you upto 2GB internal Memory.
If your bored of HTC Sense, I recommend MIUI RoM its superb
Good luck
HUummm... why is it always so hard for me?
I tried to root with un Revoked which I have used in the past but that failed because I have 2.3.3 installed.
I then went back to my Froyo RUU but that failed because of the H Boot.
Finally I rooted with http://revolutionary.io and now need to sort myself out with a ROM.
Just a note: you don't need Gparted for ext partition. You can either format your entire card with CWM, or you can use free partition manager EASUS Partition Master Home to create ext3 partition and then convert it with alignement script from coolexe. It certainly saves time.

Only down side to using recovery its max size is 512MB. EASUS dont like because its windows app, I find it best to use Gparted because its Linux witch android its self is based on.

Just give some Roms ago mate, you dont like you can always jump to another one. if its more space you want look for RoMs with data2sd or data2ext.
I repartitioned my sdcard using 4ExtRecovery. 1gb ext4, and128k swap. Brilliant themable recovery.

Hi everybody,
got the same problem as the person who started this thread with the memory issues. Done everything except install a custom rom, which I am about to do.
(note: currently 0n 2.3.3)
Currently have CM 7.1 downloaded on computer and going to install....BUT every instruction i see requires me to have rom manager/ clockworkmod recovery. HOWEVER, I can't install these because ''this app can't be installed in your country''. unfortunately used to this.
So does anyone by chance have any links to instructions or have instructions of how I can install this without downloading any apps, hopefully an idiot proof version.(Not worried about saving a recovery etc....phone is basically blank.)
Also would CM 7.1 be a good start?? Is there any easier rom to install that still has the apps2sd feature which is the primary point of doing all this( maybe miui).
Thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
rkdeane
Everything you need is in the Desire Developement forum - STICKY!
You don't apps, just root (S-OFF is a good choice too) and custom recovery (like CWM, AmonRa).

Running data2sd in cm 10

Hey guys, I recently flashed benjamingwynn's cm 10. I really liked the rom but the rom takes up a lot of space. My internal memory is very low, so even if I use link2sd I was only able to install some apps. Then I tried data2sd from the market. I created a storage file but when I try to mount it, there's nothing happening. Is there any way to make data2sd working? Should I follow any other steps?
Thanks in advance!

Data2sd from market? lol.
Data2sd is a script which is only flashed by installing from recovery or rom manager... Get cronmod int2ext+ script and flash it from recovery. It works pretty well.
I can only repeat sukhjit321, you have to flash it in recovery.
Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?t1r06j60gybhn2t
Put it on your SD card, then install it from recovery just like a rom (delete cache partition and dalvik cache before).
Or try int2ext+ or something else, but you have to flash all of them in the recovery.

Yes, first make a FAT32 partition, and then an ext4 partition (the ext4 is going to be your internal memory, so make it as big as you want)

Hi....i have a Wildfire S working on CM10. Im facing the problems of Low internal memory too...I have tried usinbg Link2Sd but barely helps...again doomed for low internal memory...if i flash data2sd try int2ext+ or something else, i wud have to flash all of them in the recovery by going in recovery mode and the install from SD card..BUT do i have to wipe everything or what i mean to say is do i have to flash the CM10 all over again by deleting everything OR just flashing DATA2SD / int2ext+ wud help.
Beacuse while using Link 2Sd i have already created partiion EXT4 for about 3GB on my 8 GB SD card..
Please suggest how i must do the process ....
Regards ,
Piyush
no...don't flash data2s or int2ext or othe sceipt simultanuslly....lit will cause crash...and u can use your link2sd partition as 2 nd partition....but if after flashing int2ext+ your internal memory dont change and 150 mb than you have to make patition again...sad..

Is there a way to put all apps into sd card?

and by All Apps, I mean the wholeee application which may include Data, USB Storage, App. I hope Im clear
enough.
Did you try this ? Cronmod
Int2Ext+ leaves only data/data on internal. You can use Int2Ext+ or Int2Ext4+ if you have ext4 partition . The problem with these scripts is that the apps will run from the sd card wich in many cases is slower than solid state internal memory. Also if you use CyanogenMod you can try S2E from playstore. I hope i understood the question correctly.

I actually tried to download S2E, but it said it's incompatible with my device? I have no idea how to do an ext4 partition and I honestly don't want to know, but thanks for replying anyway c:
S2e supports only cm 7 cm 10 i think, so thats why its not working.

Oh, I think I was using AOSP at that time then. What about FM Spirit Radio? It says it's incompatible too
