What the hell is that miscellaneuous thing taking up 4.11gb?
That's why you have no space.
i would expect it disabled for a mobile phone, but ext4 allows reserving space for root. On desktop systems that setting is often at 5% of availible storage. As you got root i'd try to grab enough of the start of the raw partition where /data is saved on (or all if you have the space and time) to a linux system and run dumpe2fs on the raw file to see if that's enabled. In case you can change it with tune2fs, but you'd likely need that crossbuild for android.
It this is really the cause something you used to format/wipe /data is seriously bugged though.

cant understand why it says 500mb left and then can't install anything saying no space ? Wtf is that
Or is it that my app space is somehow limited to 2gigs even though that shouldn't be happening with nexus? I see I'm touching that already

Not entirely sure about why its protecting you from downloading more.
But to clean up that misc folder, why don't you delete those ROM .zip's? You surely don't need them after you've flashed, why are you holding onto them? That's 356mb right there. Also look into your Clockworkmod folder for downloads that you've drone via ROM manager and don't need anymore.
that's not a reply is it. I can clean up and delete files I dont use but that's besides the point
Why is 500mb showing free if I can't install anything?

Like I said, I don't know why its preventing you from downloading more, but while you try to figure it out, you can delete unused files and download apps again...
The first thing I would do is deleting the market app's cache and data in settings > apps > all. Then boot into recovery and wipe the /cache partitition. More often than not that resolves false "out of disk space" messages.
I did the market data delete and a full cache wipe through recovery
That doesn't work ... I've also started getting storage getting low messages in notification bar
I don't understand what the heck is 500 mb available showing for, if it is unusable?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
As seen in another thread you need to run Lucky Patcher. That fixes it.
I have this exact same issue floating around 500 meg free. Is it a set limit for other processes to be able to save stuff, eg camera pictures etc...?? Obviously if you ran it down to like 1 meg where would it save a photo?!
Coincidentally I'm on apex too.....

Isn't some of the RAM allocated to the GPU? The Adreno 220 might require more RAM relative to the Mali as doesn't the Mali have its own dedicated RAM?
Just wondering.

Mine also shows 784mb. I think its all that Tmobile bloatware. I hear most of them are installed as part of the system so they are all taking up that RAM. It should be around 830 shouldn't it? if root is available this should be fixed right?

Yes with root it will help bump up ram, but we will not get full access to the advertised 1gb of ram.

784 here too. On a side note, I found something running called "tethering manager" & "wi-fi sharing manager", so maybe they're whats stopping people from tethering freely.

Yes, your correct. Android OS is built to multitask so the system has many different apps running in the background at all times to help certain system apps to loud up immediately etc.

The international and AT&T's Galaxy SII don't have all that crap on their phone. Ours has so much bloatware that's using the RAM that's why we're at 784. If you remove all the crapware that T-mobile put you'll get 837 too.
Mine shows 1.932GB of system storage.

Can you offer some more info like what Rom you are running etc?
My first suggestion is to do a full wipe and re-install the ROM. Most "quirky" errors are resolved by doing a full wipe and re-install.
Format the internal sd card and flash back to stock with odin. I had the same thing happen to me when I used that app2sd script

Some zip archive files as well as any cwm backups you may have will not show up on the internal storage reports. To get a good picture of your actual storage usage and available disk space you need disk storage analyzer app - I have seen a couple people here recommend one from the play store, I don't remember which it was though.
You can search for one or maybe someone who knows of a good one will pop in and say.

Ok I can accept that. But what is really the free space? It shows 12.05gb of space. I know the OS and other system type stuff is taking the other 4gb that would total the 16 of the phone. But even the math of the doesn't add up in settings/storage.

The system partitions aren't represented in the storage manager. Reason being: you can't change it. It's only showing what you have available for apps and your own files.

When I first got my N7105. The internal SD card read speed was great
over 50MB/s read speed, Then it dropped to 48MB/s after few days.
Today I ran Antutu benchmark and other SD card tester.
It decreased to 28MB/s read.
The write speed is intact though, around 19-22MB/s from day one till now.
Anyone knows why and how to restore the read speed back to where it should be?

Yeah I will try to edit the build.prop and increase the read ahead if I can't find the cause. This is my last resort.
Because in my experience increase read ahead that much will have negative effect as well. IE read really small files speed will decrease.
read larger files will have speed boost though.
Solved!!!
For god knows why, I uninstalled GTA III and delete it's game package/data.
The internal storage read speed back to over 50MB/s ..
I thought it's really weird :/
Thanks for all of you tried to help
Plain and Simple. How Many apps do you have installed on your Phone, Not Including System Apps
Also If you Don't Mind Listing them.
One hundred something. I don't know the exact number off the top of my head. That's what I love about the S4...so much memory that you don't have to worry about running out of space unless you install a lot of games (which I don't). Apps2SD solves that problem, too.

I guess i keep some just to see if theres updates which will make them useful; such as google keep which is begging to be integrated with google now.
But i just found an app to help with that task
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cypressworks.changelogviewer
It lets you add apps to observe for updates without having to install them. Currently i only use it to get an overview of changes to my all my installed apps since the play store sucks for that. This app shows changelogs all on one screen. It's really well made
My name is scoob and I'm a recovering appaholic... I used to download just about any app for any task i could find. I had apps on my phone that i never once used.
