Hi everyone,
this is my very first post so I hope I'm not making any mistake posting here instead of somewhere else.
I installed this ROM yesterday (incredible and awesome job, btw) but no conversations.apk was in it and I had to install Hardcent SMS to handle the messaging.
Is it normal or I made something wrong? I also checked the rom .zip before posting.
I searched for infos in the official thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399238) but I've found nothing.
Thanks in advance,

Dunno - unless you didn't flash bigxie's gapps file immediately afterwards before rebooting, but in that case you'd be missing more than just messaging. I assume you did a full wipe first as per instructions.
I installed Apex 1.0.2 and have the native sms apk, although I didn't test it since I prefer Handcent and have disabled native texting.
Maybe your flash had a hiccup, you could try reflashing...
or open up the zip file and see if there's a conversations.apk in it.
I just updated from Apex 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 and I had the stock SMS application on both versions. You may have forgotten to flash the gapps package. Unlike CM7 and other Gingerbread ROMs, the gapps package needs to be flashed along with the ROM every time you update/install.

Hi Clancy_s,
thank you for your reply. I followed the instructions line-by-line as always and also I tried to download again the rom and flash it a second time but nothing...
As I said, I also checked the zip file in order to get the apk and put it manually on /system/app, but I couldn't find it!!
Now you're telling me that you have the stock messaging app on your phone and you also have the same rom I have... that's strange!
Could you please check your rom .zip and look for conversation.apk?

I can but it'll have to wait a couple of days - I'm away from home for the next 3 and like to use a pc for that sort of thing.
I upgraded from Apex 1.0.0 so it's possible the conversation.apk carried over from there...
goo-inside.me/roms/fabolous/maguro/bigxie_maguro_Apex_v1-0-2.zip
<-- link to actuall gapps
i also need to reinstall it after updating from 9.2 -> apex1.0 (namechange) to get sync with google acc
so...I downloaded the file...again... (third time!) and unzipped it.
Am I crazy or there is no conversation.apk in it?
seriously guys: where is it?
it should be in System/App, am I right?
why it isn't there?
today I wiped my phone and flashed for the third time, with the brand new file downloaded few seconds before, after that I flashed the gappas (without rebooting the phone) and THEN I made a reboot.
Still no conversation.apk....??

Im running acs frozen rom, my very first rom. I have to say this rom is great. No major problems so far exept for the email fc once in a while which i've read is a known bug. Doesn't really bother me as it doesn't happen often. First question, i've downloaded a few zip files to install but none installed at all. It would just say "installation aborted" when i tried to install thru cwm. Second, how can i change the notification icon for the mms? MMS and email icon looks too similar, it gets confusing. Third, how can i change the mms png file? I already have the png file i want to use, just dont know how to apply it. Thanks in advance!

1. If it is telling you installation aborted, it sounds like you might have a amend/edify conflict. Which ClockWork Mod version are you using? If you are using CWM3 then you can only flash things that are ext4 ready.
2. If you prefer "stock" apps this may not be for you, but HandcentSMS is a great SMS/MMS app. It allows you to use different color icons in your notification bar and use virtually any sound file loaded on your sdcard as the notification sound.
3. I'm not good with .png files so I can't really help much there. What are you tyring to do?
Also - the email FC thing - according to the changelogs over in the ACS Frozen thread - has been fixed with the new version that dropped earlier tonight.
Hope this helps a little!
thanks for the quick reply...
1. i think i did see an error message about edify...if so how can i make the zip files ext4 ready...btw i am using cwm3....
2. i used handcent for a while and i did like it...but i would just want to use the stock mms app...i downloaded an mms zip that i want to use but like i said i couldnt install it...i got the .apk file but when i tried to open it, it would say "uninstall"...i've read somewhere about trying to push it to some system/app directory but im still trying to figure out how to do that...
3. png files....i just wanted to change the stock icon for mms to a different one...just dont know how to install it.
ACS frozen dropped an update tonight?! I have to check it out....Thanks for ur help!
So in my ever continuing quest to find a ROM that works for me I think I may have finally found it, Uncommon Sense 1.1 I think it's an older ROM but it's exactly what I'm looking for, the stability of Sense but the launcher and lock screen look like AOSP Android. I flashed it last night and I loved it but I had a huge problem, so huge I went back and loaded a nandroid of my previous ROM, Senseless rEVOlution. When I loaded the ROM for the first time I loaded the ROM it wouldn't let me enter my Google account information. The option to do so was greyed out and when I tried to select it nothing happened, though it still let me enter the information for my Comcast.net email account. Then when I tried to open the market and the Gmail apps I immediately was sent back to the home screen, I didn't even get a forced close error. I went into settings>accounts and sync and found no option to add a Google account. I checked all my running applications but there was no opstion to update or uninstall the market (version 2.2.7). As a last resort I went to the web based market to download Astro file manager to my hone but it said that it was already installed and wouldn't let me install it again. I tried downloading another file manager (I forget what it's called) but it never downloaded to my phone. Finally I jut got fed up and restored my nandroid of Senseless rEVOlution. Not only did everything work the way it should but that other file manager had downloaded to my Senseless rEVOlution nandroid backup somehow. I really don't get it. I really want to use this ROM but this problem needs to be solved first. Doed anyone have know what the problem might be? Shoulf I unsync my Google account from Senseless rEVOlution and flash Uncommon Sense again?
Oh and I should mention that I culdn't get any of the apps and widgets that were installed, like the HTC colck widget, to recognixe my location. This too was fixed upon loading the Senseless rEVOlution nandroid.
Sounds like that the GAPPS weren't (aren't?) installed in Uncommon Sense 1.1? Try redownloading it from XDA and don't do the install if it is listed in ROM Manager. Flash the zip. Do a full wipe - factory user data reset/dalvik cache a few times, then flash the zip and see what happens.
Thanks RMarkwald. I flashed the ROM without the gapps package and everything now works like it should. This really is an old ROM, it even comes with the really old version of the market brfore it was redesigned (it has since updated to the most recent version). My only concern is that it is so old that my phone wants to install a system update, and with ll the recent talk about carriers cracking down on root users and Verizon tracking who is rooted and who isn't by tracking who;s phone takes updates and who;s doesn't I'm reluctand to take the update yet I can't get my phone to stop notifying me about it. Other then that great ROM.
There was a fix to get rid of that, I don't remember what it was but most devs have incorporated it into roms now. I'll look around but do a search for like remove OTA update notification or something to see what you find.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
You can use Skyraider 3.5 with the uncommon pack, it adds the launcher, app drawer and status bar of uncommon. It doesn't have musicmod, but it has pretty much everything else.
I just flashed CM7 on my DHD and everything went just fine, I am flashing devices since the early days of Motorola Milestone. I was a huge fan of AOSP Roms on the Desire, so I finally made the decision to flash CM7.
I flashed gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip and all Gapps are there, but Gmail! I just dont get it, am I that stupid or is there anything important missing? I looked into the zip file and couldnt find gmail either?

you browsed it in the android market apk??¿?¿?
and not results??? weird.....
i just tested it in my device and i found it
why you can´t? u sure?
Once I flashed and booted back up and opened market I got requested to choose what I want to download and one of the options was Gmail app. I flashed the same gapps as you, that's odd.
EDIT: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.gm
Go to it with your phone and it should show up with the gmail app ready to download from the market.
if i go under accounts and sync google has a red arrow thingy and at the bottom of the screen it says "syncis currenly experiencing problems . it will be back shortly " been like that for 2 days . any ideas ? i am rooted and ran the deblote script from the development section . could this have deleted somthing needed to run sync on google ?
I have had this issue on Bonstock ROM. And @andybones figured out a fix, which resolves it. That fix is in the second post on the thread titled:
[ROM] BoneStock v1.0a 8/28/13
Hope this helps.

Not sure if that would work; since Bonestock ROM is deodexed and if you are on stock odexed, you will need an".apk" and corresponding ".odex" file to install the missing (MyTask) package.
The reason I had this issue is while debloating, I had removed MyTask app.
Could you please check if you have MyTask.apk (should be /system/app/ folder)? If its not there, you could flash it back (from your backup, perhaps?)
If it is already present, then the error is caused by something else. In this case, you will need to wait for an "expert" to respond here.
Hi together,
I tried to uninstall some bloat ware from my Moto G5. I tried some System App removers, but after an update some Apps (e.g. Chrome) appeared in my app drawer again...
Does anyone know, what causes this behavior?
After that I used a simple file browser to delete the Chrome folder and the Maps folder from the file system. I rebooted and Maps was still in my App drawer... But I was able to deinstall it. I was really happy until I tried to open Acrobat reader, because it crashed after a few seconds. Similar K9-Mail: It started properly, but if I tried to open a mail, the app crashed.
Could anyone explain this strange behavior?
Greetings
Cylone
PS: I have stock firmware with all security updates and Magisk v16
PPS: I restored my backup this day, what caused a bootloop. The only way I saw to fix this was to flash the stock firmware... Now I have back all my bloat Ware and Gapps
Just install a debloated stock rom, flash it as you would a regular rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5/development/rom-debloated-optimized-t3722396

Well, that's it. First thing I read on this thread is: I left Chrome only because of WebView, if you delete it remember to download Android WebView, otherwise everything will crash.
As I wrote, I removed Chrome without installing Android WebView. This had to cause the crashes.
Thank you very much Exanneon!
You're welcome even though I'm not the one who suggested to install WebView, however I still do recommend installing a debloated stock rather than staying on regular stock, I mean you already have twrp so there's nothing to lose, you can always make a backup of your regular stock and try out the debloated one.

I tried the debloated ROM and I really like it. Only a few Apps Further I removed Chrome, but WebView was disabled. I was not a able to find it in the Apps overview. So I was not able to activate it...
My quick and dirty solution was to delete WebView, install it from Playstore again and move it to system/app. Last step seems to be necessary.
So are you going to stick to the debloated option or just the regular stock?

Yes, I will keep running the debloated ROM. It's working without any problems :good:
Good choice ?
