Apple now is after our beloved Gnex and wants it completely banned. It has filed an injunction to stop the Galaxy Nexus sale in Germany. Fortunately the German Judge got some balls and denied the appeal..

Denied because it refered to "technology that was already on the market before the intellectual property had been filed for protection."
So that means under European law you can't patent something somebody else is already producing and retailing?
Apple won't like that.........
Sent using XDA App
You know what the great irony is there? Samsung was making the CPUs for the iPad at the time that they were trying to block Samsung from selling the Galaxy Tab in Australia.
Intellectual property law is flawed, and Apple is a big litigious cry baby that seems to think they should own the intellectual rights to a phone that does more than dial and text.

Have you seen the number of cases that's been thrown out? Samsung is no longer shaking in their boots, they're rolling their eyes. Apple had a brief win in Germany, the rest is a pissing contest. Steve Jobs made it clear that he would spend all of Apples money trying to defeat Android. This was big news last year....and now the tech world yawns.

Alright So Last week Apple was awarded a billion dollars for patent infringement by Samsung. Now that the court has rulled in their favor they wish to seek bans on many of Samsung’s phones in the United States. The eight devices are listed below
Galaxy S 4G
Galaxy S2 (AT&T)
Galaxy S2 (Skyrocket)
Galaxy S2 (T-Mobile)
Galaxy S2 Epic 4G
Galaxy S Showcase
Droid Charge
Galaxy Prevail
t’s interesting to note that the currently highly popular Galaxy S3 did not make the list. For Apple’s ban to be warranted they must prove that they are being irreparably harmed with these devices on the market but i guess it didn't look to much similar to apples iPhone, When Really none of them do........
(Necessary Caps) I MEAN REALLY DOES THIS LOOK LIKE AN IPhone TO YOU
NOTE: I Got this from a reliable source... And ICS from Samsung now seems like its not coming For A While....

They're challenging the ruling, and Apple's request to ban these phones from the market in the US won't be heard until the 6th of December. It seems to me Samsung would want to get as much value out of these phones as possible before the ban starts. Otherwise they'd have to try and sell the US stock somewhere else. I'd like to think that putting ICS on the phones would create more short-term demand, but you never know how these things will play out

I got so sick of it I already traded on phone a RAZR xt912 for a iPhone 4. I placed another ad on craigslist to trade my galaxy nexus.... this update crap of even a nexus having to wait months is crap. Different story with Android vs Apple. The entirety of Apple's lineup doesn't even equal one year's worth of Android releases, so there are far fewer device builds to write for. In addition Apple is completely in charge of the manufacturing process for their products, whereas Google is only partially in control of one. Even with all of that nonsense though, the manufacturer skins and carrier testing are the major bottlenecks for the pace of update releases.

Still that's no excuse... the base is should be upgradable just like in windows phone series... Google needs to stop custom market skins like sense ui and touchwiz or make parts of them optional like how go launcher go dialer go SMS all are. Also android hardware should be all the same.. let the device look different by the external design such as glass plastic metal and such...

Why go for CDMA in the first place? GSM is the way to go. I don't care for the lousy LTE speeds, anything I need can be done with 5mbps.

It came down to me having to pay past bills to att and T-Mobile... Verizon was no deposit...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Here are your two reasons:
1) Google releases source code, and relies on an open platform. CDMA is NOT an open platform. So verizon/sprint/etc get to dictate terms.
2) Verizon HATES open platforms/being told what to do. This is why you see the CDMA GNex not getting timely updates (vzw/sprint has to OK it) and also why you see vzw blocking Google wallet, adding in their apps.
If you want ALL carriers to stop their bull****, stop buying their phones and start buying open platforms such as unlocked gsm nexus phones. The carriers make a lot of money off their subsidized phones and accompanying plans. Remove their power, and they'll listen.
Also, the reason apple can update the way they do is: a "unified" userbase, and not having an open platform.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
What I'm sick of is people buying CDMA phones then crying when they don't get the update immediately. You knew this was coming when you bought the phone. Delayed CDMA updates have happened before, it's nothing new. It's like complaining about waiting in line at the DMV.
I am upset because I was under the impression that a Galaxy Nexus was a true nexus and I was sure I would get the full experience. I wish I would have known the CDMA GNex wouldn't be as supported as the GSM GNex

Yes.it is googles fault. They should handle all updates via the play store for all os. I went to vzw they blame Google... Google blames carriers...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Have you read up on this at all? Basically the drivers for the CDMA technology is what holds the process up.. that's a carrier problem. GSM is an open standard where CDMA is closed, so carriers have to get involved with Google to make sure updates work the way they're supposed to. ESPECIALLY with LTE.. which is why there's no LTE on the Nexus 4. Your best bet is T-Mobile. I'm fine with that. T-Mob is actually pretty good in my area and HSPA+ is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Sprints crappy 3G and non-existant LTE service.
All that to say. No it's not Google's fault. They ARE handling the updates OTA where they can.. but Sprint and Verizon have to lock down the radio's and what not. I actually applaud Google for going the route they did with the Nexus 4. It's a philosophy I'm willing to support with my dollars. I'm willing to give up LTE ... which i technically don't have now anyway.

If thats true, that sucks for the people who just bought it. I dont think google is that cruel.
Could be a new device category. Android chrome book? Project glass? Improved Nexus Q? They've established a nexus line with the 4,7, and 10 so the only logical thing to do is expand on it.
I'd like to see Google expand the Nexus range by releasing some sort of budget smaller-screen Nexus phone that can go on sales in the Play Store (was hoping the Galaxy Nexus would continue to be sold on the Play Store as a budget device but they ended up just completely removing it). Probably not a good idea to launch a new Android version on a budget phone though lol.

Yes, that's exactly what I was implying in my previous post that Google should have sold the GN alongside the N4 with a reduced price as a budget option, but they decided to discontinue it.
If they managed to get a top end device made for ridiculously cheap why not a mid level one for even cheaper. Everyone benefits (probably except phone manufacturers and retailers who are still trying to sell unlocked phones at ridiculously inflated prices).

I have a Nexus S 4G and from what I've experienced from a friends Gnex and read online about the Gnex, can REALLY say it's a mid-level phone? It might be on the lower end of high-end... But IMHO its still not a mid-level phone... Its better for everyone that they don't sell the Gnex cheaper because that would drop the resale value and essentially saturate the market with a "cheap" phone... Not saying the phone is cheaply made, but people think a phone is cheap if its not +300...

Maybe mid-level isn't the right word, but it's definitely not one of the current high-end phones. Anyway Apple, for example, has always been selling their previous models with reduced prices as a budget offering so it's not a strange concept. Anyway, saturating the market with good but cheap(er) phones isn't exactly a bad idea. If anything it encourages more manufacturers to make better, cheaper phones to stay competitive, which is good for consumers.

I have a Galaxy Nexus and I bought it because it has the pure Android.
In my private life there are those who have an s2 and are happy with it and do not want to get a new android version because "then everything is new and I don't want to explore my smartphone"
Then there are the Applers. I do not think I have to add informations about them.
And last but not least there are those who always buy a new Samsung and think they are the best now because they have the best smartphone on market.
And every group tells me, that I am stupid because I tell them valid arguments to prove that their smartphones are just not as "cool" or "that much of a intelligent piece of work" as they think and that they are facing several security lags if they don't listen to me. But ....

Haha I kind of know what you mean. A lot of people think the iPhone is the best phone out there, probably because its name is basically "Phone" and subliminally says "perfection". Would you rather buy something called iPhone or Ace or Thunderbolt or Nexus?
And it doesn't help that "everyone" has an iPhone, and because they just got it they have to show it off or put it in some $100 case. I remember a time where owning an iPhone meant you were on the wealthy side, but now it seems everyone and their poorer brother has one. Actually, both on and off contract the Galaxy Nexus costs more than the iPhone 4. Used the Galaxy Nexus fetches about $200, more pre Nexus 4. I got a used-but-crackless iPhone 4 in late November for $180. And we all I know iPhone 4 has been free on contract for a while now whereas the Nexus was I think $50 before Verizon ditched it, not sure about other carriers.

Yeah, but to argue with iPhone owners is like talking to a wall. They know you're right and in the depth of their hearts they see your point, but iPhone isn't just a Phone. I had the first android out of all of them and they saw it was a superior OS and the dhd came next followed by the 2 sgs2 (both still on ginger bread even now lol) then the iPhone and then the 2 sgs 3. None of which are rooted etc but I know owning a nexus is special where as the rest don't really give two ****s and are happy as they are

Correction: The Next Big Thing
Now you get a story of my daily life to show you why it's a pain in the a**.
A friend of mine asked me a couple of month(around end of September/October) ago which phone she should buy. I told her to buy the Nexus 4, because it is stand of art and she would get the updates earlier than nearly all other androidusers and so the security is much higher (one of her strongest wishes for a new phone). She just answered "but it's from LG. I don't buy phones from LG."
I told her that LG produced it but Google designed and developed it.
Her answer "Yeah but on the cover there is the LG- Logo. What will the people think about me? "
After that I just got my head explode and asked why she is interested in the opinion about others. Further I explained:" If the others don't know that your phone is the best on the market, then they are the stupid ones. So f*** on their opinion "
Friend: " Yeah but they do not know that it is the best one. So where is the point in buying it?"
I told her to never ask me again.....

But aren't you sort of doing the same thing she did by getting upset because she didn't understand your point of view? Enjoy your phone and let her enjoy what she ultimately ends up getting. You don't have a phone for the same purpose she does. Besides, if it weren't for Apple, there wouldn't be the drive from Google to make a better phone and you wouldn't have a nexus to be proud of.
I wouldn't buy the lg n4 either as its no better than the galaxy nexus other than better performance with a handful of games an yes so what if it gets quicker updates so does the gnex an I hardly use stock anyway.
