Hi there,
I've been in the flashing scene for a while now.
And i've had a lot of roms for desire like:
- MIUI
- Supreme Desire
- CyanogenMod 7.
But i really want to get a Runnymede rom working on my desire.
My specs are:
DEVICE-> DESIRE(Bravo) PVT3 S-OFF AMOLED
RADIO-> 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
HBOOT-> ALPHAREV CM7/R2 93.1000
SDCARD -> Transcend 4gb class 6
and the rom i'm trying to run is:
ROM-> Runnymede AIO V5.x.x Special Edition - AD2SDX
And yes, i've a 2.5 gb fat32 partition, and a 1.5gb ext4 partition, nicely made with 4EXT recovery.
Also after flashing, i perform a full wipe.
So what the problem, can anybody give me a word of advice. it would be much appriciated ;D

Aren't you supposed to fully wipe BEFORE flashing a rom?

This. I wouldn't touch those with a poke, but as far as I can tell, they use sd-ext for sure for some vital parts of the rom - which get wiped by his broken flashing methods.
Yep that's true. If Im not mistaking, that's how they manage to virtually expand the internal memory, by using an sd-ext partition. Otherwise those Sense 3.x roms wouldn't fit in the Desire's internal memory. If you wipe your sd-ext after flashing your rom, it is to be expected that the rom won't boot, since you only got half of the rom installed
You have to do the full wipe before, not after.
I think it's like formatting a drive after you just installed windows... no wonder it won't start.
Well if that was really the case, then it completely contradicts with his first statement stating that has been "in a flashing scene for quite some time".

I fully wipe before flashing to a new rom. I see that I actually made a mistake in the OP.

Hi people,
I've flashed nearly all different types of roms in my time with my desire.
I've never tried a HD port though. I've tried both Coolexe and Baadnewz but after a full wipe, davlik wipe and factory reset both just hang on my splash screen? Now when you're installing the update package says "please be patient 1st boot may take a few minutes". I've left them for 20 mins plus on the splash screen and nothing? Had to battery pull and restore CM. I may not even stay with a HD port as I'm not mad keen on Sense, but I'd just like to try it out.
Anyone help?

provide some more info.
which rom verson (data2ext, a2sd+, data++)
which hboot do you use
what is your partition layout... [on sdcard]
did you use any of 'aligment.zip'
Ahh yes. Apologies for the lack of information.
Alpharev Sense HBOOT.
Trying to flash coolexe 2.0.0 (a2sd)
No partition on SD card. 8gb class 6 card.
I have never used 'alignment.zip'

Pretty sure all hd roms need ext partition. Also sense hboot is to small unless it's a special version. You probably need stock bravo hboot.

You need at least 1gb ext3 partition on your sdcard od you want to use an a2sd+ rom. And a stock bravo hboot with this specyfic ROM

Thank-you. I will look into partitioning my SD and giving it a go.

What's the difference between A2SD++ and Data++? I Googled, and apparently Data++ is faster because the app is stored on the NAND or something. But I read that you need S-OFF for Data++, and flash a Hboot. So I'm guessing A2SD++ will be easier to prepare for (less steps).
I'm migrating over from Oxygen ROM, and I'm not sure how large my ext3 partition is. On the LeeDrOiD thread, it says 1GB ext3 recommended?
Can anybody guide me to setting up my phone for LeeDrOid? And whether I should go with A2SD++ or Data++?
What's wrong with you? You missed the right section. Quick system info will tell you how big your external partition is. For data plus plus you have to soff. by searching the development section you will find a good tutorial. Don't be that lazy buddy.

Oops, sorry. I'm not that tech-savvy!
You don't early have to be. As long as you can read and follow steps you are good to go. anyway A2sd+ Version should be fine if you are afraid of doing more to your phone.

Grab your phone, throw it out of window and then jump after it.
Have a nice day.
Hi everyone !
I have just discovered today the insertCoin Rom and I'd like to git a try on my HTC Desire ! However I have few questions and doubt to clear out before doing anything I might regret
- It has come to my understanding that I should have a 1.0 gb ext partition on the SD card, is it okay if my sD card has an ext partition with more than one gigabyte !?
- I also think I should have a specific hboot (I am not even sure if I have the same understanding of hboot as the rest of you ), When i start my phone into hboot mode it says it is the 0.93 hboot version and when i go into the recovery it gives the ClockWorkmod Recovery v2.5.0.7 (my phone is rooted using unrevoked). so is my hboot okay or do I need to do something else before flashing the rom ??
- Is there anything else I need to check before flashing the rom ??
Sorry i U find my questions stupid but if been reading threads and documentations for 2 days and i'm afraid I might have understood soemthing in a wrong way ! Thank you all
For your ext partition its ok if you go over, but do not make it any more than 2gb. Your hboot sounds like stock to me, unless you have gone s-off and changed it. Just check the rom thread and see what type you need.. For example stock or CM7 or CM7r2. You might have already stumbled across it, but just in case you haven't, check this guide:

Thank you for your answer !
Now my phone is S-Off and I have CWM v.2.5.1.8 ! Am I good to go ?? I have downloaded "InsertCoin Sense 2.1 CM7 1.1.3", can I install it now ??
Dude, just use the search.
I'd you have read the rom thread and met the requirements for that particular rom then yes you can flash it.

Hi Everyone, i've just root my desire and would like to flash a new ROM for fun.
Most of ROM i found are having A2SD/A2SD+/A2EXT and i know it means that it allow installing apps to SD-ext.
But actually i don't want to create ext on my sd card. in other word, i would like to install all the stuff on internal rom only(include other apps)
Can anyone help to find a suitable Sense3.0 ROM that have around 100MB free rom after flashing & without A2SD+/A2SD.
Thanks.
You have got everything wrong, you don't need an ext partition for apps2sd roms.
And to answer your other question, there is no sense 3 rom that doesn't need an ext partition, let alone one with free memory!
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
oh.....that means i have to create ext partition on my SD if i want a sense 3 rom.......
btw, can class 2/class 4 SD card used for ext partition?
4 is fine. 2 may struggle. Depends what's on ext. Apks are pretty much archives. Apps run from dalvik-cache so that should be fine

you said "Depends what's on ext", does it mean that i can decide what should be installed in ext
No. Just means I'm not familiar with these Roms so not sure what's on there usually system app and frameworks.
Try it. If it works on 2, fine. If not, get class 4

sorry that i have another question,
my desire doesn't have s-off, how can i choose a correct rom for it?
The most important of S-OFF is the changing Hboots. But you don't need another Hboot for any rom here. Or rather in general: You don't need S-OFF for any rom (as far as I know). So just choose the rom you want.

but there are so many versions in each particular ROM and i don't know which to choose
e.g. IncertCoin sense 2.1+3 --> CM7 HBoot / stock HBoot
Cool3D Sensation --> with different combination of partition
so, within each ROM, which version is suitable for me?
thanks
Stock hboot if you haven't changed it.

Hello friends
what the difference between Data++ and A2SD? Wich is better?
Data++ gives you a considerable amount more space for apps etc

They couldn't me more different.
Data++ is a,hboot that changes the size of the internal partitions.

hi everyone, a friend of mine has a desire (stock rom) and always the problem that the internal capacity is full. now we are looming for a stable rom which basicly has sd card limit for apps and is not restricted to the intetnal one.
ive read quite a lot here and lokked at some roms and have some favorites, but i would like to get some input from actual desire users what rom they use and how the situation is with the app storage space.
so what rom do you use?
and hows the app storage situation with the rom?

you're going to get confusing answers from this question in my opinion, though you could try here. if you want stability at the moment stick with GB roms.
best bet would be to browse through a few in the development section, see what your friend wants, rather than what other people tell you is the BEST ROM EVER

virtually all of them will have raised the limit on app storage using various scripts, which is one of the main reasons of custom roms on desire in the first place
each rom will have their own requirements, but generally need an sd-ext partition (use 4ext recovery or gparted) and/or a hboot partition table.
i've always found this guide useful in understanding root/memory stuff.

Supernova,by Droidzone, just do a 2gig ext4 partition and you will have 2gig of internal memory.
This Rom is base on stock 2.3 and is tweak for the better. Super smooth and your low memory days are over. Don' t take my word try it yourself
my HTC Desire runs actually BCM cyanogenmod9 with a data++ hboot
Anyway, you could get free space without changing rom and avoid using sd card ext (which might introduce some lags), by flashing the bravo Sense hboot (saving 70MB and keeping HTC Desire's stock rom).
That's my point, but it depends on your friend's rom preferences
thanks all for the feedback, actually i looked yesterday at some roms and supernova was one of the roms i considered since its aosp based, the other would be mildwild which is cm7 based, i guess i will just add my friend what suits her better and then go with that.
any bugs or other issues i should be aware with theae roms?
oh and i think the device has 5.11....radio i think. will that cause problems?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I just converted to mildwild 4.1.9 and can vouch for it being very impressive. I have setcpu app on it and now have 75% battery at the end of the day. I have a 16GB SD card and loads of storage so far, but I must say I am more disciplined with what I install now, as I used to gum it up with anything and everything! Mine is a desire GSM btw.

Oxygen rom is worth a look. AOSP rom that is closest to stock Gingerbread that you'll gonna get for desire. Just use the custom hboot for it found in http://alpharev.nl. (s-off required) and EXT partition on the sd card and it should give you one of the most stable rom with decent space for your apps.
check http://oxygen.im to get the rom.
iv been using mildwild oxygen the past week and got no complaints, i used runnymede aio as my "stock" rom and always went back to it lol but i honestly cant see myself going back this time
Sent from my HTC Desire
thnaks a lot for the feedback,
we tried mildwild oxygene but after one day and 5 self reboots its clear this is not stable at all.
now i have an other question, i flashed cm 7.2 with full wipe but the device always booted/rebooted into recovery... what can be the cause of that? mithg we have some partitioning problem here?
or something else thats wrong?
i partitioned the sd card with the cwm (1gb ext, 32mb swap) that gets installed with rom manager (5.0.2 or so i think).
if this is the problem, would be awesome to get a link to what we need to make cm 7.2 work. thanks.
lol mildwild oxygen not stable? probably 1 of the top 3 most stable roms iv used. using it now, not 1 single problem.

well thats nice for you, but my friend got lots of reboots so i dont consider this stable at all and we need to try somethig else.
i guess its like oc/uc nor everything works for every device.
that is nice for me. also could have something to do with that rom manager and partitioning ur sdcard with that crap cwm

maybe you could mention something better instead of just calling cwm crap?
well maybe if u wasnt so cheeky i would of. cwm is known to make bad partitions so maybe try 4ext recovery or gparted to partition. i use 1gb ext4 and rest fat32 (no swap) with mildwild oxygen and iv had no problems so maybe try 4ext recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire
thanks for the information, i will check the partitions today with gparted and probably reformat. i created a 32m swap partition and i dont know if cwm created a ext3 or ext4 partition so that might be the problem...
i did not intend to be "cheeky" (and not sure if i understand it correctly, sometimes im getting a bit upset when people post something like: " it works for me." and do not think about adding some info what could be different:O
if ur gona use mildwild oxygen i dont think u will need a swap size when u partition sdcard, just do a 1gb ext4 or 1.5gb max and the rest fat32

I am using MW based on Oxygen v4 with a SD-EXT partition of 1GB and set-up with APPS+DATA to SD-EXT. Don't think I am close to running out of space. I have 104 apps installed including the big ones like Google+/Skype/etc.
Check out this thread with practically links to every ROM available for desire. I usually scour this link to check for updates.
