"I noticed this juts few days ago and did this on all my family's Nexus S.
Install Chainfire3d from the market and then open the app and tap to install the driver. I used the normal method not the advanced. Don't set any other settings after your phone reboots. You can if you want to but a lot of aps won't work with those settings.
What this app does is it installs an intermediate open GL driver between the apps and phone GPU driver to give you better performance.
Just figured I'll share it with everyone. It really made a difference for me on ICS speed. The way I see it it should be baked it to all ICS ROMs."

This actually 'seems' to work. Could be placebo but it certainly does feel as if animations and scrolling are smoother across the OS.
EDIT: After uninstalling the driver and testing the fluidity, and then reinstalling once again, it was just Placebo, no real difference.
Regards.
Everything does seem a bit smoother! Thanks!

Indeed, it has a noticeable effect on smoothness.
Some apps lagg less than normal (facebook messenger app for example).
Thanks for the tip .
Dont try this with kangs 4.03, im bootloping after install. Even after full whipe...
An tips?
I am not an expert, but from what i have read ICS supposed to have Open GL Es by default, so this trick (developped for older systems), sound a bit not needed?
I have installed and then deinstalled this ap and driver - and do not see any improvment, might be i am wrong, but those are my observations.

You're telling me you don't have the ROM in the root of your SD card? Just start over a reflash the ROM if you can't use your backup.
If not, mount DATA
open up command prompt (if you're using windows)
adb devices
adb push exactnameofromthatsinyourplatformtoolsfolder.ZIP /data/media
Since mount usb storage doesn't work (don't worry it's not just you) /data/media acts as a link to the SD card.
RESOLVED
This didn't seem to help me at all. Also seemed to make my battery drain faster, but what do I know.

when any rom just install it did not need lagfix, but later yes
It seems much better than JPH (which was unusually bad) - quite close to the performance I was getting with JP4, but slightly better.
I haven't applied any lag fix yet as it doesn't really seem necessary on these ROMS, but I'm going to give that a go later.
One word of warning though, JPH, JP4 and now JPK all hate corruption in user databases. If you're getting FCs / massive delays at startup, this is what will be causing it.

The Device is rooted, i get access with rootExplorer and can delete any App from system/apps but everything appears again immediately.
I wanted to uninstall the crappy Voice Dialer App. Because it is absolutely bad if i use my Helmet Headset on Bike and my BT Handsfree.
Voice Dialer starts and recognize NOTHING right. Even if i try to speek english.
In comparison. Voice Dialler on my Blackberry Bold 9700 works absolutely great and recognize also if i speek German. And it tells me who he dial before he do it.
Voice Dialler on Galaxy calls any Number (and in nearly 100% of trys the wrong) without any comment.
And.
Once again.
Since the first releases of Froy Samsung has broken the connection between Google Sync and third Party Apps. Specially Calendar Apps.
So also in this release.
All Tasks that are created with third Party Apps (Jorte, TouchCl .... ) Appears in Calendar on Device and ar dedicated to the right Google Calendar on Device. But not synced with Google.
After open, editing or new saving with Stock Calendar it will be synced.
This belongs to ALL Cal Apps i have tested!!!!!!!!

To keep this post useful try to specify ALWAYS what you flashed (odin version, pit verison, etc) and how you rooted the phone.
Moreover, report if you installed any other app, or had to restore nv_data, or made any other modification to stock system.
Lagfix is an absolute MUST. Anyone with more than 50 apps will need one sooner rather than later. Don't believe any clowns telling you otherwise. RFS is here to stay and RFS is nowhere near as good as ext4. The sooner Voodoo can get ported to Froyo the better!
Product code changed and the backup of the nv_data.bin is crap. Restoring it resulted in a corrupt imei! Needless to say I have multiple offline copies of the EFS files for this....
GPS is complete and total crap. While it does lock to many satellites and it does lock quickly it seems to have this nasty feature where it just 'assumes' where you are going to the point where if you stop abruptly it keeps on going. I also misses sharp turns etc. While you are going in a straight line it is almost spot on but I assume it outright 'lies' about the position in an effort to hide the lag. How else could one explain the other symptoms?
Generally JPK is usable but still very beta in a few places. I sure hope GPS goes back to what it is in JM8. I ran a few tracks with JM8 and it is almost always spot on and without any errors.
For those that have the issue: to edit things in /system it must be remounted rw......
Database and File system still very slow, quadrant score 992
Hi
On our beloved Nexus, I cant find a decent app cleaner, that act. works on ICS..
I used to use the app cache app, that had a scedule task within it. And that worked great on my desire..
Now I´v tried many different app, that seems to work, but they dont, None of them can clean all my cache files with 1-click - I have to manual do it with every program...
I would like to have a 1- click and perfektly also a scedule task within it (like the app cache from Infolife)

This, I understand where this idea comes from since its a PC world right now, but I wish people would read up on these things beforehand. Android manages its memory and applications differently than your used to, and "clearing" your memory or cache is not recommended on our androidOS. It will actually slow down your phone and eat your battery.

Yes.. You´r right and I know that... But even though, it seems to be "not that statement" for some of my apps..
The developer of the app claims that its ics ready.. but as I said before.. I see that the cache for this app is getting bigger og bigger and the app is getting slower and slower... If I do nothing it just happend that the app is crashing... From my experience is, that if I from time to time do a cashe cleaner (ie once or twice a day) it never lag/getting slower and then never crash..

I feel like this point needs to be re-iterated.
Free memory (including cache) is WASTED memory. If you interfere with the way Android manages its memory, you make things less efficient - apps that would otherwise be preloaded in the background will take more time and juice to start up. This is how Android was designed from the ground up, and it was designed that way for good reasons. Please save yourself from headaches and don't fsck with things you don't understand.
One thing problem that many of us have with ROMS for our device is the constant force closes. As I was searching through the Asus transformer Pad Infinity forums, I came across a Memory management mod, which tweaks the heck out of the memory management, which in turn gives better multitasking, no force closes (I have only tried in on paranoid) and a bit better battery life since apps are not constantly hugging the ram. (I have now tried it on HO!NO!’s port of The Unicorn Rom (Sorry I forget the name) and I have noticed the speed difference.

+ Make sure you only have one launcher installed. It optimizes that launcher with the memory for maximum speed and stability
*Go to the Play Store and download SManager, which installs script files. If you cannot download it from Play Store, then side load it.
*Download the "SuperCharger_Starter_Kit_RC9.zip" (no its not flash able. you have to extract it)
*Once it is downloaded, and extracted, given if you are in a computer, put the extracted folder onto your SD card. (If you are doing it on a phone, download the file from the link and extract it with your program of reference. I use Root Explorer)
*Then download “V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC10.sh.pdf” –This is not an actual PDF file. Do not open it with your PDF software as it will not work.
Put that file in the root of your SD card.
Go to SManager and look for the SuperCharger Starter Kit File. Once located, tap on StartMeUp.sh. A window should pop up and at the top it says Run. Before you hit the run button, make sure that SU Skull turns green. (Achieve green skull by tapping the skull)
Follow on screen instructions. It will show everything that it’s doing in text format. When it is done, you will notice.
Now go back and search for “V6_SuperCharger_for_Android-Update9_RC10.sh.pdf” using SManagaer and again, make sure the skull is green before running the script.
YOU DON’T HAVE TO HIT THE THANKS BUTTON UNDER ME IF YOU DON’T WANT TO BUT DEFINITELY DO IT FOR zeppelinrox!
IF you still don’t get my instructions, there are videos on YouTube
Good find. About to try this out.

Go to the original thread. Many have done it. For our device we'll I will say that when an app wants to force close the script kicks in and you'll notice the app stay black for about 2 seconds and it opens. Haven't had any force closes except for maps. It does something weird. It says it fierce closes but it doesn't actually close

Installed it a few hours ago and it's running like a dream. I've got a few questions though... So I am running trebuchet on aopk milestone 6, from what I could understand from reading the script (which honestly is not much ) is that for me to get the launcher tweaks I may need to do some additional steps? I may have just read it wrong, also should I run ''su'' ''sclean'' in the terminal every couple of days? Thanks and sorry... I'm not too savy with all of this so bear with me. Great find though!

You clear the cache partition and dalvik cache, and then install the kernall from SD card. There are some good kernels over at the sprint galaxy s3 original development section, make sure its for your type of ROM first though.

Ahh ok. I have been looking everywhere for a solution to my problem, Ive surfed the forums and found some others who had issue but their troubleshooting steps are either not helpful or the apps they use cant even be installed on my GS3 because of this bug. For example, I read that using Lucky Patcher is the best solution but then I tried to install it and it said "no storage" available.
Some apps install and some do not..thats is what is wierd about it. Most say its the app trying to authenticate the OS

Hi. My phone (on Stock unrooted 4.1.2, didn't upgrade to 4.2.2 for no reason) has recently become very, very slow. I guess the reason for that is that I recently copied an MKV movie to it. Ever since I did that, it has been dead slow. Even though I have deleted it now, the sluggishness still persists. There's nothing else that I did (ever since this problem started), and please note, my phone was blazing fast before this, so I don't expect suggestions to flash a new ROM or kernel (because I'm a noob when it comes to flashing ROMs and stuff, and I will have so many more problems doing so). I think my phone can go back to the state on stock ROM and kernel.
Another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1988233) mentions the same problem, I've found out that I have the exact same problem. My phone wasn't sluggish before I copied the movie. But now that I have removed it, the phone is stil slow and sluggish*
* what does it mean when i say "slow and sluggish":
- pressing the lock button doesn't turn the screen on, i have to do it a couple of times
- apps take longer to load
- widgets don't load (most of them)
- everything that you can imagine (swiping, sliding, etc) is slow.
Help, please. Thanks in advance.
Clear the cache of the video player application that you tried to play the video with. That may help. Go into settings>apps>downloaded>your video app>clear cache.
If it's the Gallery, go into all applications instead of downloaded.
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
It may be caused by installing too many RAM-hogging apps, if you're rooted you can try using Greenify from the play store and see if that helps.

I didn't copy the movie for playing, I copied it to transfer it somewhere else. And I've cleared cache of the video player MX Player just to be sure, and uninstalled it. Still no use.
One more thing. Apps are not responding, even stock apps. Once I open an app, it takes forever to load, and the message pops up: "<app> is not responding, would you like to stop it?" with the options "wait, stop, report".
All this has started ever since I copied that movie to my phone. Before that, it was blazing fast, no RAM hogging apps or anything.
How about you try to save all your pics/files you have on your phone, and do a factory reset? I know that's the highest you will go, but still worth a shot!

Noob question, and I'd rather google it; but now since I have an expert in reach, I'd prefer asking. How do you backup?

Old post I know, but the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have a SD card or any other kind of removable memory card. No Nexus device does.

This a known issue. The solution is to root the phone (NRT) and run LagFix (fstream). Android 4.3 has fstream already built in.
