Change market installed apps list - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This question is more about my Google account.
Does anyone know how to change what apps Google lists as installed on your device?
For example:
You install a new rom and your phone begins to sync with your Google account, telling the market to re-download all your apps. The problem is it's downloading crappy apps from years ago. Apps that I just tested out, then deleted.
If you go to https://market.android.com/mylibrary you'll see a list of all sorts of apps you probably dumped months ago.
How can you change this list?

As you can read here:
https://groups.google.com/a/googlep...pic/android-market/technical-help/hjaT2OvPLOg
Unfortunately, there is no way to delete apps from your market library online yet.

Wow! Thanks for the response.
I wonder why some roms don't trigger the initial downlods and other do?

you can uncheck the backup and restore box from the setup process... and you can unlink apps from market with titanium backup pro

If you skip the google sign on in the beginning of setup. Then be sure the preference for auto restore is disabled under settings > privacy before signing in to your google account... that's worked for me in the past.

yes, and i think it is better to use titanium to backup apps instead of the google service. (does the google service backup just apps, or app data too?). With titanium you have bigger control on what you are backing up, and restoring.

AppBrain/Titanium Backup quick restore apps

I have been using my Evo for a while now and every time I upgrade my Roms I have to go through the entire proses in the backup apps.
1. The app asks you if you want to install.
2. The app shows you what privileges the downloaded app will be using.
3. Downloads the app
4. Asks if you want to open or done.
When I have 127 apps and at about 30 seconds an app, this takes forever. My question is, is there a way to do it faster? Like one click all apps downloaded.
Thanks
ditto my man
You have to buy the donate version of titaniumbackup (there is a link in the app that takes you to the page where you buy it). Once you do that, you can do 1 button restores. Just be aware that it might take a day or so to get you license key via email.
An army of pacifists can be defeated by one man with the will to fight.
also mybackup pro does the same thing as the donate version of titanium pro....its actually a little nicer in that there are a few more options as to what you can save
Hi,
I'm the developer of Titanium Backup. So expect some obvious bias
Honestly, I think the strength of MyBackup Pro is that it makes accurate backups of the phone data (sms, mms, contacts, etc) and can do that across any ROM versions.
But if you want to backup & restore your apps with their settings, or keep several versions of an app, or uninstall system apps - in short, everything that has to do with your apps - you should definitely go with Titanium Backup imho. Plus the free version is not a trial - it's unlimited.
For more info or comparisons, please make your own opinion by reading a couple reviews:
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
One more thing: Titanium Backup requires a rooted phone.
heh, i just paid for the donated version now, have almost 300 apps i need to quick install
hope the key comes quick :0

[Q] Market Linking

Hi, Is there a way to re-link free apps to the market without having a TiBu backup w/ link (to use with the Market Doctor) and without having to reinstall every app that is missing the link?
Or even an app that will show me which ones aren't link and allow me to reinstall them from the market?
Thank you.
I think I read somewhere that when people had done a complete wipe on their phone, they then went to set it back up and a screen asked them if they wanted to use the Google backup and restore. Not sure where the info is stored, but you can go to menu - settings - privacy to see what i am talking about.
Try an app called "Root Tools", I saw in the market comments that it helped a few people restore their market links. A recent update took the entirely free app and made some options paid (without warning, and before this there wasn't a paid version) so I reverted. If that's now a paid feature let me know and I'll upload the old apk. I'm not a pirate and don't consider that pirating, but some may I guess.

Titanium backup not restoring contacts ..

Yes, I know there are several topics already on this topic, but I haven't seen a reasonable solution in any of them ..
I was running Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 v1.27 ROM this evening when I created a complete backup using Titanium Backup Pro Root .... I have now flashed a fresh copy of Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 v2.37 ROM, and Titanium Backup Pro Root .. I am trying to restore my contacts by restoring 'Data only' for [CONTACTS/CALLS... Storage], but this only restores the groups I had defined in contacts, and not the actual contacts themselves ... I have restarted the phone after doing such a restore, but still, no contacts ..
So how do I get Titanium backup pro to restore my contacts as well ?
Luckily, I did create a nandroid backup of my Desire Z before reflashing, so I can go back and backup my contacts through some other means, but I want to know how to get Titanium Backup to restore them ..
And please don't say that I can use Gmail sync ... I don't trust gmail contacts sync because of my past experiences ..
Thanks for your help !
Don't trust google sync?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Titanium Backup isn't configured to backup and restore contacts. It knows that Google backs up all of your contacts to your gmail account.
Make sure your contacts are syncing and the ones you're adding aren't 'Phone Only' contacts, and then sync and flash the new ROM. When you put in your gmail address it will pull all of them back down.
Why not just use MyBackup or sync with Google?

Guys, I appreciate your help, really, but I've already said in OP that I don't want to use Google Sync .... Let's just say I have had a really big mishap before by going down that road ..
Secondly, Titanium claims to back up *everything*, and people on this forum suggested similar to me, so I'm wondering why does nobody know how to backup/restore contacts using Titanium ...
So you guys are claiming that Titanium cannot backup/restore contacts ?? ... If this is the case, why does everyone like Titanium so much .. ? .. I mean contacts is such a basic thing ..

E-mail the developer about it.
^^ I was actually thinking that maybe I'm not doing something right, but I guess if you all are convinced that Titanium indeed cannot be used for backing up/restoring contacts that yeah maybe I'll email the developer
But is it a bug in Titanium, or is the feature itself (i.e backup/restore contacts) missing or something ?

So you use a smartphone... A Google Android smartphone... and you're worried about using google sync?? Not to start a flame war but if you're worried about this you need to go back to a dumbphone...

No it does not. Everyone likes it because it backs up apps+data, and System data and restores when you flash a new ROM. Its an amazing app that has saved me hours of time when flashing ROMs. It doesn't back up contacts because when you use Android, contacts are backed up 100% every time. Using a Gmail account to use the phone automatically leads to backed up data. Why make an app to back it up when your phone does it automatically?
^^ I also have no intention of starting some kind of a flame war, and I only made my statement bold so that new repliers can see that point .. Like I said, I am grateful for your help ..
The reason why I dont like Google Sync for contacts is because two times my contacts got wiped out from both server and my phone, leaving me contact-less .. in the end I had to resort to an older nandroid backup to recover a partial amount of my contacts back ... now whether that was my fault or google's is unknown to me .. what is known to me is that for one reason or another, Google Sync for contacts has never really worked for me .. But apartment from this, I use google technologies, and google sync for many other things, and I love the company and their ideas ... I just don't like google sync for contacts, thats all .. And I had mentioned this point clearly in OP, and its not like I HAVE to use that, right .. ?
Anyways, I thought that Titanium could also backup contacts .. even if Google Sync does backup your contacts, it doesn't hurt to have other methods too, right ? ... I mean if you search on market for backup apps, you'll find tons of them .. redundancy ... so why should contacts backups be exclusive to google only .. ?
Anyways, the reason why I had made this post was because Titanium DOES show a backup of contacts, which is not working for me ... so I thought that I'm not doing something right ... if Titanium didn't support it entirely, then it shouldn't even make the backup in the first place, right .. ? But it did, and its just not working .. So I thought maybe I was doing something wrong myself, and that the app (i.e. Titanium Backup Pro) is fine as literally millions of people use it ..
I'm sure its able to backup/restore contacts ... I'm sure I'm making some mistake somewhere ..
And like I said, I didn't make this thread to start a flame war .. I just made this thread to get an answer to my problem, that all ... hope you understand
I guess I scared everyone off ... oh well .. :/
Titanium backup is awesome. It has saved me hours - multiple times, but to the best of my knowledge it backs up only the contacts application/settings... if it does backup actual individual contacts I would never know; as everyone else has said, I personally use Google sync. I imagine most users are in this boat. Maybe it's time you and Google contacts sync makeup.

I'm telling you, use MyBackup to handle the contacts.

I believe this to be true. It backs up the 'contacts' app and the settings for said app, but doesn't handle individual contacts info.
Why not use google contacts then export contacts to file, then you have your contacts in triplicate, phone, google and file?I must be luckly as I love the google sync function
TitaniumBackup does save contacts, you need to restore manually maybe Contact-backup-blabla (text is colored green in the list) and you need to reboot device.
But what is strange - for some reason data from my Gemini Calendar has not been restored I entered so many events... Damn...
there is backup for "Contacts and dialer" which i suppose is the app, and other entry for "CONTACTS/CALLS" which i think is the actual data. but since i have google sync up i'm not sure.
Also if you are so worried about google, how about that CarrierIQ that lies deep in the kernel and logs all your key-presses and sends em to everybody?
Cant help you with ti but i can recomend useing the option to download all contacts from google. That way you have a backup if they ever get wiped for some reason. Good luck

love TB makes romming a breeze! Just use google contacts sorry you had a bad experiance but i have always used them or the carriers backup service in the past. Like the others said if you want that feature then get an app that supports is specifically or export from google lol.
Got a solution?
Hi everyone,
ahmadka, did you manage to restore your contacts?
Because I am facing the same problem. I switched from stock 2.2 to Cyanogenmod 7.1
I did a backup with TiBu. I backed up the ROM with ROM Manager.
I even backed up my SMS and Call logs using separate applications.
I thought TiBu would restore my phone contacts, but no.
There is an entry called contacts in TiBu, but it only restores a few contacts, not all.
I know the contacts are in the stock ROM, in a contacts database file, but how to retrieve them?
Do I have to flash the stock ROM, backup my contacts and reflash Cyanogen?
Isn't there a simpler way?
Thanks!
never had or heard of anyone loosing contacts stored through google, but whatever. i doubt there are many developers trying to make apps for android for something google does so well already.
titanium back isnt and i doubt will ever be a place to backup and restore contacts.
solutions, use google sync
use a pen and paper
download to simcard
download to sdcard
make your own app that does this
by an iphone, then go on apple forum and complain to them
ok just being an ass, sorry in one of those moods

Can't see all apps on google play website

So when I go to the market website and click on My Apps it only lists apps up to the 'M's... anything past that I can't see.
I use this page to re-install apps when changing devices / after resets.
Is there any way to see a listing of all of my apps?
Don't know if this helps, but if you install the newest play app (i posted the apk here somewhere), it has the same kinda page now (an all apps installed history), you could install from there?
Sent from my calculator watch.
Thanks, I will check that out! Although I think using a KB/Mouse on my PC would still be more convenient than finger-scrolling and tapping on the phone screen :/
At least that should get me access to everything I'm missing.
My suggestion is,
1. delete market data and cache
2. From settings > sync settings > select google deatails > remove account
3. reboot
4. create your google account again
5. from market, check it again.
Hope this work.
Question - are you using market unlocker?
He's having the problem with the online version of the market, on his computer, not the phone app.

My bad kingdazy.
I've just checked out to find the installed apps from PC.
It seems like there are two ways.
1. from the market home page > My Adnroid Apps (from there we can reinstall the apps) - alphabetical order
(this one shows the history even the apps are uninstalled, those are there)
2. Google account dashboard > Android Market > installed applications (most recent first)
So, if you compare these two lists and if you find anything missing, then you'd better to contact Google support team. If both are the same, maybe there're gonna be none who can help you.
My two cents.
The first list is missing everything after the M's...
The second list has them all though... I'll use that for a work-around for now
I'm having an issue with apps on sd not showing up after a reboot. I have to clear data to get them to show again. This new market is annoying.

Freez list

I all,
I have just receive my phone so I can't send my list yet.
But you can all add your freez list there, I will update the OP.
Regards.
wrong section i believe
Sorry,
I'm just coming from Motorola Atrix and the freez list was on the developpement thread.
Please move it.
Is it just me being dense, or does anyone else not know what a "Freez List" is?
Using Titanium backup, you can freez the pre-installed application that you not use.
I'm still freezing a maximum of "bloat" as Tweeter, Facebook...
I will post my list soon.
Regards
What's wrong with just disabling them in Manage Applications?
