AppBrain/Titanium Backup quick restore apps - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been using my Evo for a while now and every time I upgrade my Roms I have to go through the entire proses in the backup apps.
1. The app asks you if you want to install.
2. The app shows you what privileges the downloaded app will be using.
3. Downloads the app
4. Asks if you want to open or done.
When I have 127 apps and at about 30 seconds an app, this takes forever. My question is, is there a way to do it faster? Like one click all apps downloaded.
Thanks

ditto my man

You have to buy the donate version of titaniumbackup (there is a link in the app that takes you to the page where you buy it). Once you do that, you can do 1 button restores. Just be aware that it might take a day or so to get you license key via email.
An army of pacifists can be defeated by one man with the will to fight.

also mybackup pro does the same thing as the donate version of titanium pro....its actually a little nicer in that there are a few more options as to what you can save

Hi,
I'm the developer of Titanium Backup. So expect some obvious bias
Honestly, I think the strength of MyBackup Pro is that it makes accurate backups of the phone data (sms, mms, contacts, etc) and can do that across any ROM versions.
But if you want to backup & restore your apps with their settings, or keep several versions of an app, or uninstall system apps - in short, everything that has to do with your apps - you should definitely go with Titanium Backup imho. Plus the free version is not a trial - it's unlimited.
For more info or comparisons, please make your own opinion by reading a couple reviews:
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
One more thing: Titanium Backup requires a rooted phone.

heh, i just paid for the donated version now, have almost 300 apps i need to quick install
hope the key comes quick :0

[Q] Market Linking

Hi, Is there a way to re-link free apps to the market without having a TiBu backup w/ link (to use with the Market Doctor) and without having to reinstall every app that is missing the link?
Or even an app that will show me which ones aren't link and allow me to reinstall them from the market?
Thank you.
I think I read somewhere that when people had done a complete wipe on their phone, they then went to set it back up and a screen asked them if they wanted to use the Google backup and restore. Not sure where the info is stored, but you can go to menu - settings - privacy to see what i am talking about.
Try an app called "Root Tools", I saw in the market comments that it helped a few people restore their market links. A recent update took the entirely free app and made some options paid (without warning, and before this there wasn't a paid version) so I reverted. If that's now a paid feature let me know and I'll upload the old apk. I'm not a pirate and don't consider that pirating, but some may I guess.

Change market installed apps list

This question is more about my Google account.
Does anyone know how to change what apps Google lists as installed on your device?
For example:
You install a new rom and your phone begins to sync with your Google account, telling the market to re-download all your apps. The problem is it's downloading crappy apps from years ago. Apps that I just tested out, then deleted.
If you go to https://market.android.com/mylibrary you'll see a list of all sorts of apps you probably dumped months ago.
How can you change this list?
As you can read here:
https://groups.google.com/a/googlep...pic/android-market/technical-help/hjaT2OvPLOg
Unfortunately, there is no way to delete apps from your market library online yet.

Wow! Thanks for the response.
I wonder why some roms don't trigger the initial downlods and other do?
you can uncheck the backup and restore box from the setup process... and you can unlink apps from market with titanium backup pro

If you skip the google sign on in the beginning of setup. Then be sure the preference for auto restore is disabled under settings > privacy before signing in to your google account... that's worked for me in the past.

yes, and i think it is better to use titanium to backup apps instead of the google service. (does the google service backup just apps, or app data too?). With titanium you have bigger control on what you are backing up, and restoring.

Titanium Backup and Marketplace

I've read around and it doesn't appear completely possible, however hopefully I'm wrong.
Scenario is this;
A user has a normal free Google account, so usual stuff Gmail, etc.
When Google Apps came out, user buys a domain and uses Google Apps on their domain, using their Apps account for everything Google-related..happy days.
User decides one day that they don't want to pay for Apps or their domain anymore and decides to go back to using their original free Google account.
Everything goes beautifully, until user realizes that all the apps they paid for on Marketplace are hard-wired to their Apps account.
User hard resets their phone and restores their apps using Titanium Backup - all looks good and all apps work - however user realizes that none of those apps show up on Marketplace as being installed and therefore will never update - user understands why.
User searches for a solution but gives up and adds their Apps account to the Marketplace dropdown - apps appear as normal now.
Does anyone know if Titanium Backup can shed more light here? Can anyone shed any light please?
Heaps of thanks if you can!
I can't help the OP, but has anyone solved these additional issues?
I can't start a thread so i'm going to put this post under the TiBu and Marketplace thread, which seems reasonable.
I'm having a few problems. I'm rooted and running AOKP JB M1 4.1.2 core.
When i select an app from TiBu and tell it to detach from the Market, the function runs and claims it is successful. When i look in the Play Store, even after a reboot, the app i "detached" still shows up and with an update that i'd like to avoid. Can someone comment on how to successfully accomplish this task?
I also chose the option under the menu to "Integrate sys Dalvik into ROM." Now, every time i reboot, the phone has to Optimize all apps. Is this a flaw of the feature? Is this expected? Is there a step i missed? For now i'll undo that option and live with it, but i'd like to understand why it's prompting an optimization of all apps for every reboot.
Thanks in advance. I hope this forum hasn't become a wasteland.

Bike Race magic with titanium backup!!

So not sure why i didn't think of this earlier, but seeing as we are all probably using an android phone aside from out nexus 7 I thought i'd bring this to light! TURNS OUT... if you have a good account going with bike race, ya know... some good bikes won according to your efforts. But with android there is no way to carry it forth. SOOO you:
1. take your phone with good account, do a titanium backup of the bike race app.
2. Connect phone to computer, search for titanium backup folder on phone drive, copy all "bike race" apps to desktop (i had 3 total)
3. Connect nexus to desktop, and copy files to nexus in same foler
4. Reboot nexus, restore bike race with titanium backup (but only data) ANNNDD VOILA!
enjoy
Mod Edit....removed un-needed content
Been doing this forever with all my games to retain app data across multiple devices. Don't know if a post was needed, as most have been doing this for a very long time. Far from a new thing. Not trying to be mean. Just sayin

Yeah, this works fine, but it's a bit cumbersome.
What would be nice is some sort of automated system using google drive / dropbox / whatever. I play World of goo (or any other game) on my phone, and the next time I open it on my tablet, it's already at the latest save point from my phone.

There are several apps that do this. One that I use is DataSync. There is a free and a paid version.
You basically setup a Box.net or DropBox account in the app. It then allows you to push backups of specific apps to your online storage. The cool thing is that it can automatically detect other DataSync apps on the network and automatically sync up and push settings to other devices.
Sync times can be varied by daily or on app change. There are also sync options such as only on WiFi or while Charging.
You can also manually push/pull updates.
Pretty cool.

I'll let you in on my golden rule, if i can't find it in google searching or forum searching, then i post it because either it doesn't exist or its too hard to find. And I felt it pertinent seeing as most gaming apps these days have some form of online sync that backs up your progress and reverts it when you sync the app with an account, bike race being the hit it is has such a feature for the iphone, but not for android.
This thread was not craving your approval, it was purely informational . Over 500 people viewed it in less than a day, and none of them felt the need to be a the fun little raincloud of a first reply.
please go vent your pesimism on a political opinion forum.
For everyone else i was able to help, enjoy!

Backup info

Hello
After several years of Apple, I bought Oneplus 7T.
Among the good things of the iPhone, surely there is the backup that copies all data and at the time of recovery puts everything in its place. So it wasn't for my OP7t. I used Oneplus switch, but the restore was not painless, I had to redo the connections of the icons on the main screens, but above all I had to enter all the data of each individual APP, as if I had used them as the first time, it was a long and noisy work. I ask you if there is a more effective and faster method to restore from backup
I hope I have been clear and thank you
If you were coming from an Android it is much more seamless. iOS just doesn't interface the same and thus some data doesn't transfer. However logging in to apps is normal after a transfer for security reasons.

Thank you very much for your reply
But I still ask, is there another system or an app that does backup in ios style?
I shudder at the thought, when it will still have to restore in this way.

If you have "Backup" selected in your google settings (Settings / Google / Backup) it will automatically back nearly everything up to your Google account (Google Drive). When you need to wipe and restore your current phone or a new one, you can select what backup you want to use during the setup process.
Other than needing to sign in to different accounts it's pretty seamless. It does backup your texts but not pictures, if I recall. SMSBackup does a much better job at that.
If your phone is rooted, there are at least two solutions: Titanium Backup (powerful but little complicated user interface) and "swift backup" (smart userinterface)!
