Is voodoo louder supposed to work on our phones?
Its supposedly for samsung S2, which, ours is a member of that "family", yet, when I try to install/buy it, It installs, it does its "diagnostics", says everything is ok, but when I try to "buy" it, the app errors out every time; I've uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared data, done everything, but still get an error when trying to complete the install/purchase.
thanks!

Are you using the new gunslinger kernel? And are you rooted? If you no to either one of those then that's the problem but other than that I've have no idea

yes, on gunslinger 1.4.1, and of course I am rooted..
Well Voodoo Louder Setup Fine For Me The First Time And Ive Had No Problems Since! Now... This Is Only My Opinion But Honestly I Cant Really Tell Any Significant Difference In The Sound Even Trying Different Settings Made No Real Differences. So I Kinda So No Need In It Unless Im Doing Something Wrong.

I asked Supercurio (creator of VooDoo sound mod) if he was going to support our phones, and he said no.
https://twitter.com/#!/supercurio/statuses/119217721954148352
EDIT: this was awhile back, so he may he reconsidered since then.
It may not be what you want however, I have been using Volume+ without issue. There is a free version to try and see if you like it.
yeah, I have the full version of volume +; doesn't play well with a lot of the roms for this phone, especially if they have DSP baked in..
thanks for everyones input!
Im running into the same problems you are...Im going to email supercurio and see whats up because I loved voodoo control when I had it on og epic. in the apps op it says that our phone is supported...I read that another guy with our phone purchased it with no problems. It really is puzzling my as to why we are having issues. im on xplod rom with latest rogue kernal supporting voodoo..please keep this going, i would love to get an answer for this.
I've used it on 2 roms already with gunslinger and haven't had any issues. Sound is definitely improved while using headphones.

emailed supercurio and no response as of yet...and still unsuccssesful at buying voodoo louder off the market. im bummed. has anything changed for those that have problems simular to mine?
I've been having the same issue (unable to purchase IAP via Market). I emailed supercurio about it and he said it's a Google issue, and there's nothing he can do about it.
I tried again today and it's still not getting past the "Authorizing Payment" message. But I looked at my bank account, and they've taken $1.35 out 5 times, and put it back 5 times!
still doesn't work for me either, and dev doesn't respond..

I had that same problem was charged 3 times trying kept failing then I tried one more time billing to sprint account and it worked. Then came using it, it's not much better and then there's the annoying notification icon I checked all over in the options no where to remove it. Uninstalled it not even worth the trouble.
For those having issues buying it, supercurio has apparently released an update to the app that should fix this issue.

I just tried again...no fix for me
I had no issues buying it today. However the entire thing refuses to work properly. every 5 Seconds it resets my volume to low. had to uninstall the app to even play music.
Like everyone else, I wish voodoo sound was ported. Need a DAC
Don't know how come you guys are having so many issues, but I've been using this for quite some time now with much success. It definitely makes it louder and adds a little punch to it. I'm currently testing it in conjunction with DSP manager to see if they can play nice together. So far so good.
it wouldnt work for me either on gunslinger, i updated to hitman and it works fine

This has been happening on my Epic 4G for awhile now and it's really frustrating. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been happening the whole time I've owned the phone, but at this point it's hard to really remmber.
Basically, when I make or receive a call, within a couple\few minutes of the phone call the caller suddenly can't hear me - this happens whether it's using the phone normally, in speakerphone mode, or even a headset. As soon as it happens and the other caller starts the "Hello? Are you still there?" I can fix it by toggling the speaker on and off (or off and on) and it fixes it - but it can suddenly start again at anytime...couple of minutes later, five minutes later, etc.
Right now I'm slowly removing apps from my phone after every call this happens on - my goal is to determine if a particualr app is confusing my phone. I don't think it's the ROM or modem I'm using (Frozen 1.2, EC05) as I did a stock flash and flashed to those just recently and others aren't having the same problem. I DID restore some data so if I can't narrow down an app that's causing it, not restoring any data is my next option (but even more time consuming to figure out specifically which data is causing issues).
I'm pretty sure the phone hasn't always done this so I don't want to exchange the phone considering I don't have any other issues and I think this is software, not hardware related. Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

I do have Voodoo installed (since it comes with Frozen 1.2). I haven't tried switching ROMs yet but I have started looking again (I was pretty content with Frozen but if no one had a similar issue and changing the modem doesn't work then a ROM switch is my next try).
Thanks to others who suggested changing modems - I'm going to do that now and see if EE03 fixes this....*crosses fingers*

Yes! Mine started doing this a couple months ago, and I resolve it exactly the same way (though I have to hit the volume button once, either up or down, then toggle speaker on then off). It's definitely not the ROM because I've had it with both Froyo and GB ROMs. Unfortunately, I haven't found any other solution, yet. I'm hoping it will go away with official GB, but I have no real reason to think it will work. I'm going to play around with the Voodoo sound.

you guys shouldn't be having this problem make a backup then odin to ec05 stock and check if you still have the issue if you do just take it to sprint and show the tech your problem they should fix it or get you a replacement phone.
I have the same issue. I am completely stock. It usually happens 10 to 15 minutes into a phone call. I've already called sprint, taken it to a store but only reflashed the os, and I just recently spoke to someone on chat, who said the problem has been solved. If it happens again should I get a replacement phone?

Edit: I just noticed that I don't have voodoo sound installed, I know that I used to, maybe deleting that solved my problem and not odinning back to stock.

Sadly even after changing modems and making the adjustment in Voodoo Control I still have the same problem. Going to uninstall Voodoo all together and see if that resolves anything.
I just discovered that I'm having the same problem after I Odin'd back to stock EC05 for a different reason. So, EC05 and EC05 modem, and I'm having a problem that I didn't think I was having before I tried EF02.
Could something have been changed that going back to EC05/EC05 modem didn't resolve?

This problem is not generated by Voodoo. I have a stock Epic (rooted) and have never had Voodoo installed on my device and I have intermittently had this problem in the past (haven't seen it for a while, though). My friend has an Epic (never rooted) and also has this problem.
About the only thing I've heard that people have said fixes this is to wipe cache and dalvik and then flash something using Odin. Stock or custom I don't think matters.
As others have noted, uninstalling Voodoo didn't fix it for me. I think what must be causing this is everytime I wipe and install a clean ROM I restore some data through TiBackup and SOMETHING I'm restoring is causing this. Guess I'll just have to wipe and be very careful about what I'm restoring.
This might be completely random, but by chance did other people that experience this problem happen to install NZBAir?
So... this is a weird one. I am stock, not rooted, not using a 3rd party keyboard or launcher. I am unable to type the word "soon" into an SMS. When I do so, it spells out the word, and then immediately backtracks, erases the current message I have typed and then clears out ALL of my text messages from my phone. I have tested this several times today with the same result.
I've done a factory reset, rebooted several times... still doing it. Anyone else discover something similar? This is very weird and also very annoying.
LOL wtf? One of the stranger bugs I've ever heard of.
I tried it and worked as it should. I'm using swype, what are you using? And I tried swyping and tapping, still works correctly.

Call shenanigans all you want, I've got no reason to post this here unless I am having a legitimate issue. I'm not going to "grab a camera" and post a video of myself texting someone to prove it, just simply stating my unusual experience.
This just started happening today, and it will do it with the stock keyboard and the Samsung implementation of Swype. I don't really use my phone for much except Facebook, ESPN Scorecenter and texts/calls/camera.
I'm kind of at a loss right now as to why this is happening. I called Sprint, they ran through the usual BS, factory data reset, etc... still does it.
Not going to lie.. that's pretty funny. Can't believe a factory reset didn't fix it....
It was funny until I realized it deleted all my texts. Now it's just annoying. Going to take it to Sprint today after work. We'll see...

What about other words that are similar, like sooon or oon? Does it happen when texting any person?
If it were me, I would see if the problem occurs with other ROMs. I would assume the problem would go away, but then again, I would also assume a factory reset would fix the issue.
So yeah, take it to Sprint.

For the time being, it has stopped doing it. I have changed nothing on the phone, and yes it is stock, non root, no weird 3rd party stuff. No videos or music on my SD card. Just pics and vids taken with the phone and a few apps.
It had been doing this all day long up until 5 minutes ago, and like I said, I have not done anything differently other than just using the phone through out the day. I'm aggravated that it deleted all of my texts, as I had some info there I hadn't yet saved... oh well, such is life. If it happens again, I will try and post video for the non-believers and people looking for a laugh, but I'm hoping it doesn't rear its head again.
I have never experienced anything like this on any of the Android phones I have had, and I have had the majority of higher profile devices. Weird for sure, but I'm still taking it to Sprint to see if they can at least reproduce it and see why it's doing it.
To be extra clear, this only happened today, and I am 100% stock, no root, no weirdness, using stock apps, and I have never dropped or done anything weird to the phone. No screen protector either, so the remote possibility of layer of air or some weirdness in between that and the screen is ruled out also. Call me stumped.
Wow, too weird man. Virus comes to mind...and I'd have to say, if you brought that to my store, I'd probably call shenanigans as well lol.

Yes I read the original post, I know its a non-rooted stock device. What I was saying was that I would like to see if the problem would persist on another rom. I was saying that if it were me, I would root and test with different software.
I would invest in a thesaurus so you can avoid the word "soon".

Hi all
I acquired my Gnexus about a month ago, and the nexus has lived up to its name, being the predecessor of my nexus s. However, a few weeks ago a very strange bug has began manifesting itself. Whenever my phone was not in silent mode, a ringtone would keep playing, over and over again, while there were no incoming notifications. In fact the offending ringtone in question isn't even set to anything in my system sounds! This is particularly strange because even when I used TiBU to freeze just about any sound-making app that could have been causing this (alarm apps, music apps etc) the strange sound continues.
Here is a video of what I am talking about. You may need to crank up volume a little bit to hear it, but it's definitely there, and recurring incessantly. I showed my notification bar and running apps, as I have no idea what could be causing it. I'm running stock JRO0C rooted, with unlocked bootloader. This did not happen before my bootloader was unlocked, and even after that I did not recall it happening for a long time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7r-Deeu6ME&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The strange thing is, even after a full wipe/factory reset via cwm and flashing over another rom (bigxie's stock, rooted JRO0C with busybox preinstalled), the problem persisted, on my brand new rom with no apps installed! I really have no idea what's going on, is this going on at system level? I did try formatting /system in cwm but that made it unable to boot past the google logo, strangely, so I had to revert to an old cwm backup.
If anyone could enlighten me on any solutions or reasons causing this, I'd be mightly grateful. The sound, and most of all not knowing the reason behind it and how I could possibly absolve it, has been driving me nuts, it really is such a strange and inexplicable problem, not knowing why is so confounding, even with all your knowledge and experience of android!

Stock kernel? I recall this being an issue with the CM7 build for the Fascinate, and was due to a kernel bug. Outside of that, I couldn't tell you where to begin.

Yep, stock just about everything, only rooted. I used the nexus toolkit to install though, and I'm not sure if that actually flashes an insecure boot.img or not, so might that be the problem?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I don't think the insecure about image would cause a phantom ringtone or others would have reported by now. Sounds like something is misfiring. I'd seek greater knowledge of how to identify the issue (given that you have root access) from one of the much more experienced folks on XDA.

What's that? Only game I have is mass effect infiltrator (thank you 25c sale) lol. I'm pretty sure it's a ringtone sound but I can't for the life of me identify it since I don't use it for any of my volume ringtones!
I might have to relock my bootloader again when I have the time to backup everything on internal memory, because this wasn't present when my bl was locked on purchase.

Any chance of taking it back to the Sprint store and getting a replacement? I know chances are you won't get a NIB phone, proba refurb, but if it truly is a software glitch I don't see how they can't replace it. I also realize it's not the same as a phone not working at all, but they do promote unlimited texting and if there is something that is stopping that from happening, i.e. typing legibly, I would hope they would rectify it. I know the techs at my local store would bust their balls trying to get it fixed.

Not sure if my Samsung keyboard is working right or not. I only use swiftkey and when I get bored I switch over to swype.
Hello and thank you in advance to all. I have a t989,
I run AOKP Galaxysbean V_12
KKO Kernel Governor is Smartass V2 and I/O is deadline
UVLI4 Radio
Problem: I know for a fact this is not a hardware problem, because I have went through 3 phone replacements because of stupidity and learning how to root phone, flash roms, yada, yada, etc. And with each of these phones this persistent problem occurs where all of the sudden at any given time, I will go to make a call and nothing. I can't hear the ring of another person's number, my voicemail, etc. The person does get the call, and when they answer, I still cannot hear them, and they cannot hear me.
Resolution: Ways I have fixed this before are with the first and second phone I flashed over a new radio, (previously UVLE1, UVLH1, 4G Blaze) and it fixed the calling upon reboot. Also I had flashed custom roms, or restored previous Nandroid backups and it worked again. (Little annoying doing this every 3 or 4 days. Though today, this happened with my newest phone, and flashing a radio did not work nor did restoring a Nandroid. This time I had to flash a new custom rom, then it worked. Then I flashed back over the Nandroid and it still works as of now.
Question: Could this be because of the kernel? Or the rom?

same here
Me and my wife have the same issues. We both have GS2s but hers is stock unrooted and mine is running CM10.1. Been dealing with Tmobile for months without success, swapping out cut down on how often its happening but did not fix it. Tmobile is stumped, very annoyed by this issue.
Not sure what's causing the problem but it seems jellybean 4.2 has fixed this issue. Try flashing AOKP 4.2 and make sure noise suppression is enabled and call this number 9143388802. The third option is an echo test and fourth option let's you record a playback to listen to how you sound. If you sound normal and people are still complaining then its their phone.

I've come to the conclusion that its a rom problem because for me it happens with only certain roms. Ive tried all the rom kernel combinations and different radios but the only fix I've found is to retire that particular rom, no matter how good it is. Smoothness aint gonna get the cops or the fireman to your house. The only roms that have worked for me as far as call quality are, for some reason all of TheLastSidekick's Kangs, Darkside evolution 3, Sky Jellybean, Rushing's Bulletproof, and both of the 10.1 variants we have. The strange thing is I can't recall any call quality issue's when flashing roms from the Skyrocket thread. For instance I get the worst call quality ever using Jedi Jelly, but I'm crystal clear using Embryo from the Skyrockets thread, so much so I wont even try our version of the same rom.
I blame T-Mobile network. This would happen to me all the way back to my old flip phones. Every other call or so would do this. I've always put up with it cuz I like T-Mobile customer service.

I actually just realized this problem persisted when I would turn on the phone and try to make a phone call to quickly. After becoming aware of this. I turned the phone off and allowed it to fully boot back up, and it worked again.

I can confirm that this is the problem. I rebooted my phone, called someone right away, and couldn't hear anything. Next I let it load for 40 seconds after boot, and I can hear fine.
Now we have to tell t-mobile this.

This is not the issue, it also happens to phones that have been on for minutes/hours/days.
Is there any updates on this issue? My wife is having this problem on her phone, and it seem like it's been getting worse...

I found out with my problem. It was when I tried to make a call to soon. It would do this. As long as I have let the phone load for a minute or two after boot, I haven't had any more problems. My problem may be different from yours tho. Hope this helps.
I'm having this issue, and its not from calling too quick after a boot.
It came on out of the blue the evening of March 6 ...
I have the Tmob phone but it's unlocked and I'm using a Straight Talk AT&T SIM, connected to the AT&T network in Sierra Vista, AZ.
Ok... I need help. I am such a novice at this stuff but I find myself so very interested in the world of root, and the freedom that it brings. Basically my entire knowledge of computers..... Is Android, and worse than that, I'm self taught... Please don't run!! I'm a super quick study. Ok now to my problem, I started off rooting my T 989 surprisingly enough with absolutely no issues at all, or at least that I could tell. Ran beautiful and super smooth, then I went app hoarding and installed A fonts package installer, opened it, it installed about 85 prcnt. done and crashed. Never made it back. The novice, and the dumbass in me, FREAKED! and did an uneducated, no experience attempt to make recovery....... 4 times needless to say that I COMPLETELY wiped the entire phone. I had a friend bless me and show me a thing or two and I successfully managed to flash one of your Roms to it and I must tell you that I supremely thankful to all who n these projects.... MAD RESPECT to all of you. So the one issue I am clearly having is everyone I speak to says I sound like I'm on speaker or just can't generally hear me. Been through the settings a couple of times and I am pretty sure that I have them correct, and I have not touched anything that I wasn't sure about, and I definitely have completely refrained from pimpin my kernel. I really just need someone who can spend a little time setting me straight on some unfamiliars. Also just have a few stupid questions that won't be the least bit stupid after I get them answered. Any time any one can lend would be greatly appreciated and someone's good deed for the day. Thanks for allowing me to vent guy's

And no, issue definitely is not exclusive to happening on reboot, mine has been that way ever since flashing, and on every call. But I can hear the other end perfectly......

Just leave me some thanks. Under your phone settings, there should be a noise surrpression box. Make sure it is check marked. Every time I do that people have said I sound better. What do you want to do? Change it back to custom rom? P.S. ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS!.. Google will solve many questions too. If nothing helps or you need to be walked through some processes, message me.
Enable noise suppression in phone settings. Fixed my problem.
