If you're unlocked and have root you can just flash a generic HTC Rom. Your phone will still have the sim lock if it had one before.

Before:
Turn usb debugging on on your phone
install htc sync on your pc (needed for the usb drivers)
Create a goldcard, you can use this tool: mediafire .com/?tux4afd7j7gc7z1
Download this: mediafire .com/?3uo3ftfznc1fy66 fastboot+adb (tools.zip)
Download this: mediafire .com/?ih6amhh2kzm4q6g stock 2.3.5 eu files (PG76IMG.zip), thanks to d33ps1x.
Unlock your bootloader @ htcdev.com <<-- don't know if that is necessary, but it really won't hurt.
The actual process:
Extract tools.zip for example in c:\android
Now open PG76IMG.zip and extract the files: boot.img and system.img to the same folder you extracted tools.zip for this example c:\android
Now you should have 5 files in c:\android, adb.exe; fastboot.exe; adbwinapi.dll; boot.img; system.img.
Now go into the bootloader of your phone and select fastboot.
Now connect your phone to your pc.
Open up a command prompt and go to the location where you extracted the files.
In this example you will type:
cd c:\android
Click to collapse
now type
adb reboot-bootloader
Click to collapse
your phone will now reboot into the bootloader.
once your phone is done type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Click to collapse
^(some say this isn't needed, so you could try without flashing this.)^
once your phone finished type
fastboot flash system system.img
Click to collapse
once that is done type
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
Your phone should now restart and the non branded htc stock rom will load.
Please let me know if it worked

Have you used htcdev .com/bootloader/ to unlock your phone?
And this is how you create the goldcard:
download this: mediafire .com/?tux4afd7j7gc7z1
connect phone to pc and select htc sync as connection type
run the download goldcardtool as admin
click get cid
copy the numbers that appear.
click the link, the site will speak for itself.
now click load goldcard.img find the image you just got from that site.
the drop down box after htc mmc should show: driveletter:\
that driveletter has to be the driveletter of your sd card in your phone.
Now click patch mmc and you have your goldcard.

hello,
I want to unroot my WFS if possible.
I got Android 2.3.5 and clockworkk recovery, which I want to 'delete'.
So to make a long story short, I want it back as I bought it, if possible .
stbe.
relock your bootloader first
then flash stock ruu
you will be unrooted
to flash stock recovery, extract recovery.img from stock ruu and place it in c:\
connect your phone to pc in fastboot mode (you should have android sdk installed)
open cmd and type "cd c:\" without quotes
type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
now you should have stock recovery

You can also go to unlockroot.com download program, install. Enable usb debugging on ur device, connect it to your pc (charge only), click unroot and you are done!

first of all for fully unroot you need stock ruu (like if your wfs model is european brand your stock ruu is eu 2.26.401.3 )
you can find it in android dev thread>marvel/marvelc stock ruu thread by jmztaylor
then run it on computer..(you can see now update wizard, dont close it)
now open task manager see processes you will see process named ARUwizard (something) right click and select open location.
now you will see temp folder is opened..you will find rom.zip in that folder..copy that zip file (its our stock ruu)
now you can close that update wizard because we got our rom.zip
now renamed rom.zip to PG76IMG.zip
now go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530864
and download bootloader control tool.
flash it from cwm recovery..
A Menu-type will appear. It will show you 4 options:
Unlock Bootloader
Lock Bootloader (Guarantee Mode)
Lock Bootloader (Relocked State)
Supervision
Now, choose 2 or 3 option.
Then say "NO" to reboot. Go back to the main menu of CWM.
It'll reboot the recovery and get you the main menu again.
then flash that tool again now choose supervision and reboot..
now time to make gold card.
go here,
http://www.mediafire.com/?hdxoe6e5km434tb
download it and put phone in debugging mode and select mmc00 mmc01 (try one by one till ones give u cid)
then put cid in given website and you will hv now goldcard.img
put it phone in usb mounting mode, and put that PG76IMG.zip on it and patch with goldcard.img
now just put that sdcard on your phone and wait...phone will detect zip and it ll asked for confirmation..say yes with volume up and you will be unrooted after sometimes(this process takes upto 5-10 min)
good luck
IMP NOTE :
AS GOLDCARD CREATION WEBSITE IS PROBABLY CLOSED,FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL TO CREATE BOO.IMG AND THEN PATCH IT WITH GOLDCARDCREATOR
1) download this and extract it.
http://d-h.st/UGV
2) Start CMD as administrator.
3)Type, then press ENTER after each command:
Code:
cd c:\gcard
gcard.exe -r -c [COLOR="Indigo"]enteryourmmccode[/COLOR] -o Chiffinske.img
4) now rename chiffinske.img to boot.img and patch it with goldcard creator utility.
( thanks a lot to genepool to create this script so we can create boot.img without that website )

Hi

As I want only the ROM back. But staying Unlocked and Rooted (for things like Int2Ext) can I just flash the Rom.zip/PG76IMG.zip as a nomal ROM. Meaning "Install from SD" at the recovery mode.

You need to flash the boot.img from fastboot. Instructions in the Ace Think Tank thread.
Can I put the file PD98IMG.zip sd card, launch the phone in bootloader and so any single system to load?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but read the Ace Think Tank thread in DHD General forums. It has instructions on how to flash the boot.img when your bootloader is unlocked. The process has nothing to do with PD98IMG files.
when I try "5.. Type 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'" my computer is not responding, still displays the "wait for device"
+ I want to go back to the original rom

I'm guessing that your phone is not in fastboot mode. You need to navigate to fastboot from the hboot menu with the volume buttons, then select it with the power button.
To go back to stock, run a RUU.

You need to install the updated drivers for the phone. find a download for: HTCDriver3.0.0.007
Copy the boot.img from the ROM on the root of your SD card.
then
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I think your missing the drivers thats all.
I'm only telling you things that worked for me. these may not be 100% accurate.
hope it works.

that's so weird things...
what if you try too installing that RUU.exe like normal way...i mean just connecting your phone with pc (select FASTBOOT mode from your bootloder) then running that RUU.exe until finish..
if that still fail too...then another way is you can try it to unlocking your bootloader via htcdev.com first..then after that you can continued installing custom recovery like 4ext, twrp or cwm..and then installing custom rom..
to unlock your bootloader via htcdev.com...firstly you must update your hboot version to 2.00.0029...that hboot update file is already in there site..just follow instruction from site it self..

to unlock your bootloader via htcdev.com...firstly you must update your hboot version to 2.00.0029...that hboot update file is already in there site..just follow instruction from site it self..

Check for maximus or arhd (NOT the lollipop versions but a slight older one) in the dev section or get a new stock backup matching your version number in the general section - collection of firmwares, stock backups and more by @exocetdj
And if that doesn't give you the correct steps and files than try the specific Sprint M8 support subforum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
It's listed under "previous" in the main post

Ah i see in the Sprint section. Maybe it's good to mention that too in the first reply because this is the international section and therefore doesn't hold Sprint ruu files. So that confused me a bit. Thanks for the link
My bad I didn't realize that
Thanks both. Really appreciated your advice. I tried steps in below link

I relock the bootloader and did the prrevious steps. Now its worked.
Now it shows "RELOCKED" in the bootloader menu.
Is it the normal sign ?
Yes as you are s-on that's normal. Only with s-off you can change those flags to LOCKED

Actually, I flashed that with normal ADB/fastboot. I think different devices get different results with this. I haven't figured out why yet. Strange thing it seems

This error means you need to use htc_fastboot.exe (post #4 above) and the command:
htc_fastboot flash zip filename.zip
(where "filename.zip" is replaced with the actual name of the RUU file).

This is the easiest way if you are still having problems.
Transfer the RUU.zip to your extSD, formatted to FAT32 if it isn't alrerady
Use a file explorer and rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip (that's a zero, not the letter)
Boot to bootloader and select hboot if it doesn't happen automatically.
Follow the prompts (vol up to flash ~ power to reboot when done)
That's it. Super easy and quick.
Make sure to delete the renamed RUU.zip, or rename it again to something else, otherwise every time you boot to hboot it'll try to update again.

S-on is fine. Why do you think it isn't?
If you are running the RUU intended for your M8 version (in this case, as long as you have a Euro M8) you do not need to have s-off to run the RUU. I wish folks would stop saying you do (need s-off to RUU).
The only additional requirement for RUU is your bootloader must be LOCKED or RELOCKED. You can relock with command: fastboot oem lock

I don't completely remember but I think you have to put the htc_fastboot file in the folder with original fastboot.exe .
And then maybe use htc_fastboot instead of fastboot while writing the RUU command in CMD.
Best of luck.
Edit : Here try this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6

That's how it's done. You didn't forget.
After you've put it in the folder, instead of
fastoot flash zip **drag and drop zip here**, you do
htc_fastboot flash zip **drag and drop zip here**
