[Q] My wildfire is bricked .. PLS HELP.... - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i followed following steps
**********************************************
S-OFF + root with flashing method
New mothod of rooting HTC WildFire (buzz) - credits go out to androidybloidy from xda.
Full topic over to xda: Rooting HTC Wildfire (BUZZ) 2.2.1 with HBOOT 1.01.0002 !! FULL GUIDE (28/6/2011) - xda-developers (sorry for copy/paste, but i really don't have the time and i wanted to save the thread somewhere else besides xda)
S-OFFing the Device
Downgrade to HTC Froyo WWE for AlphaRevX (HBOOT 1.01.0001)
You can't s-off HBOOT 1.01.0002 !
Therefore, downgrading the HBOOT to 1.01.0001 is must for the meantime, to get an efficient S-OFF.
So, here’s a small package to help you do this.
Extract this package somewhere you can find it, like your “Desktop” for example.
Step 1: run step1.bat from the package. This will downgrade your MISC partition to allow for the RUU downgrade.
At the end, GoldCardTool will start up, to allow you to create a goldcard which you will need before starting Step 2.
How to deal with Gold-Card Tool:
1. Switch off your phone, remove your microSD card.
2. Insert the microSD card into your card reader, connect it to your computer and format the card to FAT32 file system.
3. Insert the card into your HTC Wildfire and power it on.
4. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled on your phone in Menu > Settings > Applications > Development.
5. Connect the phone to your computer via USB and set the mode to charge only.
6. Launch Gold-Card Tool on your computer and click ‘GetCID’.
7. Copy the CID code from the text box and click the link shown below that text box to open it in your browser window.
8. In the browser window, enter all the details required and submit that form.
9. You should now get an email from PSAS in a few minutes. Open it and download the ‘GoldCard.img’ attachment.
10. Now set your phone’s USB mode to Mass Storage.
11. In Gold-Card Tool, click ‘Refresh’.
12. Select your mounted SD card from the drop-down menu saying “HTC MMC:”
13. Click ‘Load Goldcard.img’ and select the file downloaded in Step 11.
14. Click ‘Patch MMC’ and your Gold Card will be created. You may exit Gold Card Tool once done.
After you've made the goldcard, and patched it, continue with step 2.
Step 2: run step2.bat from the package. This will downgrade your ROM version to HTC WWE Froyo for Wildfire (unbranded).
If you get a Customer ID error while doing this, your goldcard is not working!
Create a new goldcard and re-run step2.
AlphaRevX
* Steps:
1st You need to get to: alpharev.nl/x/beta/ to download the tool, and to get your “beta key” which you’ll get in a pop-up window in the same download page after you click the download link for (windows version).
The “beta key” is a must; the tool won’t work without it!
You’ll be asked to provide your phone “serial no.”, typically it should be something like HTXXETDXXXXX, and you can get it from:
Settings --> about phone --> phone identity.
Now, do the following:
1. Run latest version of HTC Sync on your PC and connect phone in HTC Sync mode and sync all your files. Remove HTC Sync and not the drivers.
2. Reboot phone.
3. Settings->Applications->Development->Check “USB Debugging”.
4. Run AlphaRevX and connect phone to PC in “Charge Only mode”.
5. AlphaRevX should recognize your phone and show your Device Serial number.
7. Type out the “key” in the AlphaRevX software, keeping in mind the upper and lower case letters and press enter (you can copy / paste the key).
8. AlphaRevX should start doing its job and you’ll get S-OFF in less than 90 seconds.
9. If it takes longer, just wait for the 15 minutes mark, if nothing, then reboot phone and retry.
(Some members got S-OFF after multiple tries)
Rooting the device:
Step 1 - Installing the USB drivers
Download USB drivers (here) and extract them on desktop. Turn off your wildfire and boot into HBOOT by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button. Connect your phone to your PC and it will show "drivers installing" or similar there for Android device. When prompted, install the drivers by going to device manager and browsing to the folder where you extracted the drivers. Once installed, disconnect and reboot your phone normally.
Now you need to install the “Android bootloader interface”.
Connect your HTC wildfire to the PC and it will ask for drivers again, now go to device manager, click on unknown device “other devices”.
Click on update driver -> install from specific location -> No i will choose to install -> choose Android phone and click on “adb interface” -> click next -> when asked to install click on continue anyway, just install them.
Once done you will see your phone recognized as "Android bootloader interface".
Now disconnect your phone and go into:
Settings -> applications - > development - > enable USB Debugging.
Step 2 - Downgrading from Android 2.2.1 Froyo to Android 2.1 Éclair
Download the RUU rom (here) which is an original stock rom. Plug your phone into the PC and set it to "Charge through USB". Double click RUU rom .exe
Follow the on screen instructions and then let it install. Your phone will reboot into stock HTC 2.1
This will be the last time you will be seeing it though.
A little extra here by me: if you download that RUU and notice after you've completed this step your touch doesn't work, don't panic. Just get a different RUU and flash again. I can't remember if i used RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_India_1.25.720.1_Radio_13.45.55. 24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed or RUU_Buzz_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.25.707.1_Radio_13.45.55.24 _3.35.15.31_release_142190_signed
but you can find more over at Shipped ROMs
Step 3 - Gaining root using Unrevoked, get ClockworkMod and set your phone free
Download the test version of unrevoked (here). Let me repeat, DO NOT USE UNREVOKED 3.32 as it will lead to CID errors or to be precise this error
"Validation error, backup CID is missing"
This may be caused as the 3.32 does not support the HBOOT. Hence you need specific test version of Unrevoked 3.2 to do the job. Download it, save it on desktop, and run it. Now connect your phone and the rooting will start. Once done, you will have ClockworkMod recovery installed on your phone.
Reboot your phone now (using the VOLUME UP/DOWN key for navigation and clicking using TRACKBALL, the POWER button takes you back in menus). Once rebooted, you will see the “Superuser” app in your phone and.... done.
Now you can download and flash cm-7 or whatever.

After step 2 touch screen is dead and can't put usb debugging ON.
After rebooting my phone is receiving calls but can't attend.

please help me..

Install a RUU then retry the steps for rooting.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

but i cant on usb debugging

you shouldnt need usb debugging for a ruu.

Try to get an update file wich you can flash in Hboot. There are ones, but i dont now where... Take a sdcard reader and put the file on it.

firstly can you still get into recovery by your bootloader? if you can then flash this.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.1.0.1-buzz-signed.zip
then this http://goo-inside.me/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip
but remember to wipe your cache, dalvick cache and factory reset the phone. (all done in recovery) if that works you should be on cyanogenmod 7 and that will hopefully fix your issue.

hello there..same problem with me but resolved, successfull CM7 nightly..
try to flash with the
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.37.405.1_Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.3 5.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe
find it in the web, run, and then you got your touchscreen works

Go to an S-ON and Unrooted state, from this guide I made.
Then use this guide I made to start over again without touchscreen problems. Quite a few people have had touchscreen problems using the other guide.

[Q] Problem after last Update OTA

Hello all,
I have an unbranded desire (GSM), rooted with the latest unrevoked, and an official ROM.Today I have received a new update OTA… something with Android Market in size of 28.87 MB. I’ve tried to install but I have not succeeded. For more info about my phone see the attached pictures.
Now the details: I saw that the update was not working , so I decided to “force “ the install process using the install update.zip from clockwork mode (2.5.0.7) and toggle signature option (it was a message about some signature error). Everything looked fine, all the process and then a message tells me to restart. Since then a loop started: white screen with green letters for HTC logo and after that a restart. And again, and again…
I have a backup on sd card. But when I try to access, the recovery menu shows me a dark screen with a phone and a red triangle with “!” sign in it. I have also the official RUU but my computer refuses now to see my phone despite of a very good link between them. Two days ago I have installed the official RUU and the connection was ok. Maybe it is because my phone is not loading all of the starting process.
Help me please with some ideas, advices. Thank you.
You can't apply an OTA to a rooted Desire without issues - how many more poeple are going to do this before reading threads and realising this!!!
You'll have to hard reset and if that doesn't work flash a stock RUU and root again
PLease tell me how to hard reset or how to flash a stock RUU. please remember i can't connect to the computer because it's not loading all the starting process
You can either:
1. Download the 2.29.405.2 RUU from shipped-roms.com and flash it via FASTBOOT
or
2. Download the 2.29.405.2 PB99IMG from shipped-roms.com and flash it via HBOOT after renaming it PB99IMG.zip instead of the long file name I used, copying it to the root of your SD card and booting into HBOOT and following the instructions
Thank you very much for your quick answer.
But please be more specific
1. How to flash it via FASTBOOT?
2.Please give me step by step instructions on how to boot the zip file.
Sorry for being annoying. And sorry for my english
For RUU:
1. Download RUU from this link
http://www.multiupload.com/UOWLL86GVB
2. Turn off your phone
3. Turn it on again whilst holding the back button
4. Once the white screen with the 3 Androids at the bottom says FASTBOOT connect to PC with USB cable and it will change to say FASTBOOT USB
5. Run the RUU
6. All being good you'll be on stock 2.29.405.2
To flash the PB99IMG.zip:
1. Download the ZIP file from here:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
2. Turn off phone
3. Remove SD card from phone and connect to PC using a card reader and a micro to normal adapter
4. Rename the ZIP file to PB99IMG.zip (not PB99IMG.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card (root = not in any folders)
5. Put SD card back in your phone
6. Turn it on whilst holding volume down
7. Follow instructions on the phone
8. Once done you should be on stock 2.29.405.2
BOTH OF THESE WILL NEED YOUR GOLD CARD TO COMPLETE
thanks. Starting now...
JOB DONE... SMOOTHLY
You do it by RUU OR PB99IMG btw - NOT both
JOB DONE SMOOTHLY. Thanks a lot.
No probs, keep the RUU or PB99IMG to hand in case you need them in future

Root wildfire 2.2.1???

Unrevoked ecc... Do not work
The current HBOOT of the 2.2.1 RUU or OTA can not be rooted. Try flashing a shipped ruu of eclair (2.1) and try rooting, then flash wilddpuzzle or danne_jo's safe ruu pack.
So is there no way to root 2.2.1 ?
still no way to root 2.2.1 on wildfire?

Hi, i can't find a place in my island to do root it via hardware, so i'm very interested in finding a way to do it via software! does it works?
Thanks!
Wildfire froyo ROOT***
"REQUIRE S-OFF can be achieved only by an XTC clip
After a fruitfull search i found that this is the only method currently available for rooting wildfire.
First of all let me say I'm not the developer of this steps..
To do the rooting you must have your Wildfire with S-OFF, HBOOT 1.02.0002 and Android 2.2.1 . You can check it by booting into HBOOT (power on your phone by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button) .This method is strictly for the 2.2.1 owners. How you can turn the S-OFF is your headache, you can try the alpharev (ask the team if they can get you a 2.0 test version... ) or you can wait for Unrevoked 3.33 or you can straight off go to market and hunt for XTC clip. Either way, try it and don't attempt to anything before you get S-OFF. Actually the notorious S-ON flag is the cause rooting wildfire is such a pain in the a**.
What I have to correct is "The only way to keep S-OFF is using an XTC clip (as i did) there is no version of alpha rev available for wildfire yet and unrevoked 3.33 is also not available.."
If you are successful in keeping S-OFF kindly follow this steps........
I used to have this
and I converted it into this
or this =)
Anyways, here is how you can root HTC wildfire 2.2.1 and get htc wildfire Android 2.3
What you need ?
HTC wildfire with S-OFF , HBOOT 1.01.0002 , OS Froyo 2.2.1
USB Drivers (http://www.feedblitz.com/t2.asp?/37...unrevoked.com/recovery/android-usb-driver.zip)

Its all for educational purposes only, if you are dumb enough to screw somewhere then I will be the one who will be laughing at you.
Software are unpredictable in nature, one may/may not act as predicted especially in case of rooting (personal experience). Hence my friend, tread carefully.
in short,
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR STUPIDITY.
Step 1 - Installing the USB drivers
Download USB drivers and extract them on desktop. Turn off your wildfire and boot into HBOOT by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button. Connect your phone to your PC and it will show "drivers installing" or similar there for Android device. When prompted , install the drivers by going to device manager and browsing to the folder where you extracted the drivers. Once installed, disconnect and reboot your phone normally.
Now you need to install the Android bootloader interface. Connect it to your HTC wildfire to the PC and it will ask for drivers again, now go to device manager, click on unknown device,
click on update driver -> install from specific location -> No i will choose to install -> choose Android phone and click on adb interface -> click next -> when asked to install click on continue anyway, just install them.
Once done you will see your phone recognized as "Android bootloader interface". Now disconnect your phone and go into
settings -> applications - > development - > enable USB Debugging.
Congratulations, the first step is complete.
Step 2 - Downgrading from Android 2.2.1 Froyo to Android 2.1 Eclair
Download the RUU rom which is an original stock rom. Plug your phone into the PC and set it to "Charge through USB". Double click RUU rom .exe. Follow the on screen instructions and then let it install. Your phone will reboot into stock HTC 2.1 This will be the last time you will be seeing it though.
The HBOOT version will be now 0.80.0002 (check it by powering on your phone by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button) Once done disconnect your phone.
Step 3 - Gaining root using UnrEVOked , get clockworkmod and set your phone free
Download the test version of unrevoked. Let me repeat, DO NOT USE UNREVOKED 3.32 as it will lead to CID errors or to be precise this error
"validation error backup cid is missing"
This may be caused as the 3.32 doesnot support HBOOT 0.82.0002. Hence You need specific test version of Unrevoked 3.2 to do the job. Download it, save it on desktop, and run it. Now connect your phone and the rooting will start. Once donw, you will have Clockworkmod recovery installed on your phone. Reboot your phone now (using the VOLUME UP/DOWN key for navigation and clicking using TRACKBALL, the POWER button takes you back in menus). Once rebooted, you will see the superuserapp in your phone and congratulations, your phone is successfully rooted
Step 4 - Installing Cyanogenmod 7 or Android Gingerbread 2.3.3
Download the Cyanogenmod 7 with google apps and save it on desktop, connect your phone as USB diskdrive and transfer both zip files on SD card. Once done, reboot your phone into ClockworkMod Recovery (booting by holding the VOLUME DOWN + POWER button and clicking on recovery)
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side VOLUME buttons to move around, and either the POWER button or the TRACKBALL to select.
Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
choose update-cm-7.0.0-buzz-signed.zip & Let it install.
Once done, Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard, choose gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip
Once the installation has finished, to get back to the main menu by clicking the POWER button and select the Reboot system now option.
Congrats..The HTC Wildfire should now boot into CyanogenMod.
Enjoy Android 2.3.3

There was someone else reporting a similar issue. He finally managed to solve it by flashing stock RUU and then going through the whole rooting, s-off-ing and flashing ROM procedure.
I had the same problem.. I used a virtual machine instead of burning a CD!!
Easiest way to do it. Flash stock rooted froyo Rom with no a2sd and s-off.
Had same problem on some other Rom. Used usb, after flashing froyo everything went smooth.

I think we are talking about S-OFF with Alpharev?!
Read in a serious german forum this problem could be caused by gingerbread. It is recommended to install a FROYO-Rom for S-OFF with Alpharev.
Detailled instruction:
1.) COMPLETE NANDROID- backup
2.) Download a FROYO- ROM (i used DeFroST)
3.) Copy it on your sd-card
4.) Start your phone in Recovery
5.) Do a FULL Wipe
6.) Flash FROYO- ROM
7.) Reboot your phone completely (to the homescreen of the new ROM)
8.) Download the iso from Alpharev-Homepage, check MD5 if file is complete and burn the ISO on CD
9.) Start your PC with the created disk [eventually u have to change your boot order (disk-drive on first position)]
10.) Follow the instructions on the screen (i only had to connect my Desire with PC in USB-Debug-Mode. Then I waited til i got the message that S-OFF is complete)
11.) After S-OFF is complete, boot your phone into recovery
12.) Restore the constructed backup
13.) Have fun with your previously ROM and S-OFF
Followed these steps tomorrow and it worked properly without any problems.
With this TuT, it´s worked for me...
I was trying about 5 hours to S-Off it... Hours of read threads, google und the questions was here...
Thank you very much

Interesting. I had problems (device not recognised / supported at this time) trying s-off with rooted stock froyo sense, after making a goldcard.
Never got to the bottom of it but as soon as I flashed oxygen (gingerbread) it worked fine!
CD method best, virtualbox kept crashing for me!

Thank you for that, I will most likely try this at a later date I was trying to get iNsertCoin flashed but of course needed S-Off and hit problems. So sticking with Reflex at the moment which looks exactly the same

Easiest way to root Htc Desire Through Revolutionary...wow

Remember: You Should be S-off Before This...goto htcdev ans s-off
[STEP1]- Check Hboot version. Poweroff, and hold Volume Down & Power (it’s the number after “HBOOT”. Examples are 0.75xxxxx, 0.83xxxxx, 0.93xxxxx, 1.02xxxxx)
REVOLUTIONARY
[REVOLUTIONARY]- If your HBOOT version is 0.93 or above (NOTE: Version 1.03 is NOT supported) then continue, if it is below then use the Alpharev method.
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP1]- Go to revolutionary.io and go to the “Downloads” section, Pick your operating system, choose device as HTC Desire, and choose your HBOOT version (you should already know this from STEP1). Then enter your serial number, it can be found in “about phone” or behind the battery.
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP2]- Download these fastboot drivers.
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP3]- Make sure HTC Sync is disabled, if you have it installed on your PC. Plug your phone in via USB and make sure USB debugging is turned ON (settings> applications)
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP4]- Extract all of the tools from the revolutionary.zip file and run revolutionary.exe. A CMD window should pop up and show you the progress (See [3] for how it should look like).
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP5]- When the process is almost finished, it will prompt you to flash a custom recovery, type YES or Y. Follow tutorial number [10] if you would like to flash a different recovery – This is optional and not required if you decide to flash recovery during the revolutionary process.
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP6]- Download superuser.zip, put it anywhere on your sd-card (preferably in a path you can remember). Boot into recovery by holding Volume Down & Power (You will see lines of green text flash, this is normal), then using the volume keys to navigate to RECOVERY, and use POWER to select. The phone will now boot into recovery.
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP7]- Once you are in recovery, use the trackball (if it’s broken then use volume keys) to navigate to “install zip from sd-card > choose zip from sd-card > #directory where you put superuser.zip# > superuser.zip > yes”
[REVOLUTIONARY][STEP8]- After the process is finished, reboot, and your phone will now be rooted.

I can see Desire forums didn't change that much. How can be already simple tutorial even more simplified is beyond me.
What about big red button with "DO IT FOR ME". Wow.
revolutionary does NOT root ur phone, revolutionary makes u s-off.
Sent from my HTC Desire

[Q] How to flash back to stock?

I'm currently using CM11 and wanted to get back to HTC Sense (Natural stock) and I've managed to find some of the OTA files but can't figure out the proper steps. I'm tried some methods I've seen around but ended up with booting on the HTC screen into a black screen and staying at that.

Unfortunately OTA updates won't do the trick. If you didn't backup your phone using a custom recovery, you'll need to reflash the entire system firmware by downloading an RUU file. Visit this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714456 and download the RUU file (should be located at the bottom of the first post). You'll have to relock your bootloader in order for it to flash (fastboot oem lock in bootloader). Everything will be wiped including the internal storage. I recommend removing the external SD card if you have one.
Here are the instructions on how to use it:
1. Download and save the HTC One™ for T-Mobile ROM update to your PC.
2. Connect your device to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
3. If the device is not recognized by the PC, ensure you have HTC Sync Manager installed and then disconnect and reconnect the device from the USB cable.
4. Once the device is properly recognized on the PC, locate the HTC One™ for T-Mobile ROM Update that you downloaded. Double-click on the file to launch the system update wizard.
5. Follow all of the system update wizard instructions shown on your PC.
6. Once the update is complete, click Finish in the Wizard and the device will reboot.
7. Once the device reboots, the initial setup wizard will appear.
8. Once the initial setup process is complete, the device is ready for use.
Note: If the ROM update wizard fails to recognize the device, close the wizard and then follow the steps below:
1. From a powered off state, hold VOLUME DOWN while powering on the device.
2. Use the volume buttons to scroll to FASTBOOT and then press the POWER button to select it.
3. Connect the device to the PC while in this state and attempt the ROM update again.
