Is there a htc evo 4g Hotspot hack or other means of wifi teather?

Yes, now use the search feature.

Just getting my evo 4g set up and i already got rid of my epic i was just told that there is no way to 4g tether.... Just wanted a quick respose proving it wrong thanks.

Honestly a 2 minute search would have been faster.

Threads like this one make me laugh! The OP said he wanted a quick answer to his question BUT rather then go to google and type in his question with a little "know how"...he or she decides that's TOO easy and makes a thread asking the same question that could be answered in about 2 minutes if they just stop being lazy and search for it.....then they sit and wait for about 30 minutes or so....STILL don't get the answer they want and then they sit around hitting F5 even more......STILL don't get the answer they want and in the end, they get mad because people tell them to search.....AND then they leave without an answer to their original question....hahaha...Gotta love noobs!!

i guess i am a little more forgiving. I am a noob to this forum, but not to forums in general. I ALWAYS use the search feature before posting, but i do understand that sometimes a search yields results that dont answer the questions you have. And sometimes you must read pages and pages of posts to finally find your answer. I dont know about you guys but i dont exactly have the time to read the 150 pages in some of these threads to get an answer. not bashing, not supporting people that dont at least try to use the search feature, just asking that we all try to be a little more understanding.

Google "evo4g hotspot hack" you get the unlocked sprint hotspot for sense and wifi tether for pretty much any rooted android and no reading 150 pages takes 2 seconds to find the answer and the apks

love all the noob hatin... Well i did google as it does take a minute to readjust to rooting a different phone as I said i came here from the epic 4g XDA section(rooting there requires a quick odin flash then cwm is set ready for rom). Well my first post was for help with the rooting process had to downgrade to get s off as i had the 2.3.5 initially(i made this post because i was wrongly informed by a member here and freaked out i just got rid of my epic for this so i can try themeing on another device).... Anyways thats all done now ive just been googling how the roms work can I just put on swag rom from 2.2 rooted with s off and amonra recovery or do i need to first flash a rom for 2.3.5 then flash swag? Simple question dont really need the hating for my ignorance toward this phone just wanting help from one person to another thanks.

you can just put swag rom on what you have. As long as your s-off you can flash any rom for the evo4g. Make sure you make a backup of your wimax keys also when you make a backup in Amon ra. Also make sure you do a full wipe to lessen the chances of problems happening full wipe= everything except sdcard and battery stats

I clicked your Thanks for that you are very helpful didnt realize its as simple as not needing to upgrade to a rooted 2.3.5 and i can just have everything.... My last question I will need to either find myself or someone can post here but will end my whole information quest lol is the proper wiping method for Amon ra wip everything once or wipe everything 3 times? Thanks again for helping me through this transisition.

I wipe everything once or I use a format all zip for when I get lazy
Sent from my PC36100 using xda app

I wipe everything once or three times depending on how lazy I am as well. If I am trying to fix something by flashing then I wipe three times. If I am flashing and want to hurry and get to bed then I'll flash once. Yes, those 15 seconds I gain by flashing once instead of three times is a big deal to me. :-x

I have seen you on all of the threads on this topic and I feel your pain. Just fortunate enough that my phone still works. When you say "start over", what should I do. Flash the RUU that the phone came with? I have the .76hboot. HW003. Then I could do the toast 3 part root and nand method again? I have tried many options and I can't flash anything.

At the time this thread was posted, the several threads immediately above and below this one were discussing the same issue. You are in bootloops. Not a big deal. Try wiping cache and dalvik and rebooting. If that doesn't work then re flash the rom.

Okay here's what you do:
Go to the android development forum and find the thread labled radio updates. I would search for you but I'm too lazy.
Download the latest radio update from Calkulin and flash via recovery.
About halfway through the process of the radio update being applied, pull the battery from your phone.
That should do the trick...you wont have to come on here asking anymore questions either.
Flash your theme the same way. Except don't pull the battery.

Your post has been reported to the mods. Real nice way to help someone instantly brick their phone. You post has seriously baffled me. ***** move.
You guys sure must forget what its like to be new to XDA. Yes, the OP should do some more reading, searching, and also be a little more clear when asking something. But, honestly if when you were new would you have wanted people to treat you that way? I realize the OP's post are very... all over the place but honestly dropping all the profanity is not needed. XDA is being overrun I would have to say, but all your doing is going to cause more of these posts in the long run. Help him out now, and the posts more than likely won't continue as long as he is pointed in the right direction.
P.S. Go ahead and flame all over me for this one if you please. Make my day! I remember when it was cool to act childish and talk like your tough and run your mouth behind a computer screen... Give up your rants, or don't bother posting.
It is really a shame to have this happening on this site.
Please be courteous and treat members the way you want to be treated. Thread has been reported so let's stop the non-sense and either help the new member or leave this thread.

No flaming here, and no flaming towards the OP. I do remember what it was like being new to XDA. It's just like anything new in your life-but it does not entitle you to be obnoxious and repulsive but more so the exact opposite. That is no necessary(or welcomed here or on any other forum. or for that matter anywhere in life really).
To the original poster:
Boot into recovery like you were if you were flashing a new ROM. If you are not sure what I just said, then before you apply any theme or mod from this sub-forum, you will need to have a rooted device. Not sure what I just said? Search the forum for how to root your Evo. Familarize yourself with what rooting is and what it entails. After rooting, find a custom ROM in the Android development sub-forum for your Evo and flash via recovery. Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and then flash. In order to transfer any files to your phones SD card you have to do 1 of 2 things.
1. Hook up your phone to your computer after it has been rooted and change setting to disk drive and you will be able to find it in "Computer" as a drive
2. Remove the SD card from the back of your phone(under the battery) and insert into SD card reader and place files onto the root of your SD card. The root means do not place it anywhere other than the folder that first appears when you open your SD card up.
I was new at one point to bro don't worry. Basically to get a theme, obviously you must download it first, if you download it from your phone its a little bit easier but if you download it from your computer you just need to plug in your phone. put your phone in disk drive and drag it to your sdcard. Very simple and of course make sure you get you know a sense theme for a sense rom(make sure its the same version too!!) and if you have an aosp rom make sure you get an aosp theme. Once it is in your sd card boot your phone into recovery by turning your phone off and turning it back up with holding the power button and the rocker switch DOWN. Go to recovery there and first thing you should do is back up!! So go to nandroid and backup!!!! After that go to install from sdcard, look for your file and install it! let it install and after it should prompt you to reboot device and press ok and your done!
lmao at the lame that took his tyme to rite that
Please be nice, everyone =D.
Theres also plenty of tutorials on youtube just search htc evo themes. And not everybody here enjoys flaming so dont sweat it

Little nevous so I have to ask.

I am thinking about rooting using unrevoked 3. I am pretty sure that is strait forward. After that I should install titanium back up and do a nand back up? Then after that I should be able to delete the sense apk and htc lock apk screen and it should be stock vanilla 2.2 right. If I want to restore for a OTA can I just use the nand backup?
Then if I want to try flashing Roms what should I do? Is the Rom manager app all I need?
I usually try to ignore these threads but jesus man read a lill first

OK.
First, wrong section. This should be in Q&A whether anyone responds to it there or not.
Second, Titanium doesn't do NAND backups. That's a job for the recovery.
Third, deleting two apks will not make the ROM "vanilla". It will only mess things up and ruin your experience. If you want "vanilla", there are plenty of AOSP ROMs you can flash after you root.
Fourth, you don't do OTAs after you're rooted. It would unroot you, and you'd have to start all over, and there's no guarantee there would be root available for the new OTA. You should just stick to flashing rooted stock ROMs.
Fifth, I would personally advise against ROM Manager and tell you to learn to do it manually. It's not difficult at all, just a matter of learning a specific sequence of simple steps.
I think that about covers everything. I'm sure someone else will fill in the pieces I've missed.

You should probably do some more reading. Titanium back up only backs up apps. If you want a nand back up you do it through recovery. Deleting that stuff does not make it vanilla lol. If you want a vanilla build run a AOSP rom. I don't use Rom manager it crap I flash manually

http://www.xda-developers.com/announcements/a-reminder-from-the-xda-moderator-team/
Google is your friend, learn to use it. Also not trying to scare you, but you could get stuck in bootloops so its better to read everything first then try flashing something.
Your post shows that you are completely clueless, so I really recommend that you read and research before you even attempt to do anything to your device.
Google the following:
1) how to root android
2) how to install custom roms
3) how to use Titanium backup
4) Difference between ASOP and Sense
5) Search in this forum "How to unroot your Evo in two easy steps" if you dont understand or cant follow the instructions there, you may want to reconsider rooting your device. Since if something goes wrong, you will need to unroot the device before taking it to Sprint, etc.
Also dont get offended by these comments because XDA isnt usually like this. But when its very clear that a member hasn't done any research, and expects to be spoonfed all the info, you will get flamed.
How did OP even start this thread in this section? He only has 5 posts... Did the rules change?

The reason you got the response you did is because you posted in the wrong section. Whike I know you are new to the forum out is always a good idea you read the stickies on any forum you visit.
Tons of new people make the same mistake.i wouldn't let it turn you of but use it as a learning experience.
Xda is an amazing forum (if you are willing to take the time to search post in correct places and do a little work yourself by researching.)
If you aren't willing to do those things then you will find it a cold unfriendly place.
Fort better or worse it is not always newbie friendly. On the plus most of the major developers are here so once you learn you have tons of resources.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
As others have stated previous, irritation arose due to posting in the wrong section (initially) and coming to the table without having first exhausted all resources outside making a new thread (see: Google, searching XDA, other forums, YouTube, even).
There are many guides to help you out there, many on these forums specifically. As one other said previously, as well, don't let this shown irritation from other users discourage you from using these forums. XDA is, by far, the best place regarding the rooting, flashing, development, and customization of our phones. You would be wise to stick around and learn the ropes a bit.
Next time, if you have a question, try posting what you did in the body, explaining what research you have done and what did or didn't work before you decided to post a new thread. This will help others see that you have indeed looked around some and tried some things out instead of rushing to post a new thread without seeing if your question(s) was/were already answered.
Overall, your experience can be very good and you can learn a lot from these forums. I'm still pretty new myself, but I visit these forums every single day and read up on things and just take it all in.
Have fun with everything! If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me and I'll do my best to help. But do some research before, if you do!
I would suggest reading and asking lots of questions and reading and asking lots of questions and reading and asking lots of questions before doing anything to your phone....
I think all of these responses would make me a little nervous as well...
EndlessDissent -
I have found Rom Manager to be quick and painless, why would you advise against using it?
fyi - I use it w/clockwork recovery instead of Amon-RA. And have downgraded it because of some kind of edify scripting problems. is this less than optimal?
Ok I think I have read all I can and watched all the youtube videos I can handle. It looks pretty strait forward and seems to be easier that the palm pre.
Now can anyone recommend a GB Rom? I would love a pure nexus s expirence. I plan to get it when it comes out.
I would recommend CM7, but some would say no cuz of weird instances that happened to a couple people. Evervolv, Salvage, king's ultra, and miui all have gingerbread though.

I second CM7. There are thousands of users, thus lots of potential help. It is a ROM that has been for awhile and they have really worked out quite a good percentage of the bugs that will inevitably come with any GB ROM.
Flash CM7 and get a good feel for it before you start hopping ROMs. Also do yourself a favor and make sure you use the search button liberally before you post questions/issues in the CM7 threads and provide some info on what you did to resolve your issues (you will have issues). If you do that the chances you'll get help rather than flames goes up 10,000%.
I would strongly recommend against MIUI. It is unquestionably the best ROM I have ever used, but it is really not a good ROM for an EVO rookie. The quirks in the flashing process are plentiful and the preciseness required by the nature of the ROM will suit you much better a month from now.
I'm sure there will be people who disagree with me, but I help people everyday who would not have needed help if they had learned a little more about the process on a more basic ROM with lot's of support and fewer bells and whistles. Just my two cents.
The options in teh roxxorz's post are good options as well.

[Q] Clockwork Mod 5.0.2 Not working

I just flashed 5.0.2 and I can no longer boot to recovery. I'm running:
ILWT CM7 b2 right now.
I can't reboot to recovery from the shutdown menu, or from ROM Manager. It worked once, and now it just sits there at the HTC screen. Any ideas? I tried to reflash it too from ROM Manager - same deal.
Open rom manager go to the bottom of the page, you can see an option that allows you to install a previus version of cwm.. it is called "clock work mod recovery (all)". try the previus version (3.0.2.4) install it... It should work...
sent from my HTC vision with synergy Rom using xda app
I flashed back to 5.0.1 - same issue. Could it be related to the ROM I have installed?
No. If you bothered reading any of the numerous threads speaking of this exact same issue..or looked in the clockworkmod thread you would see that recovery 5.X have issues. That's why the initial response told you to flash 3.0.2.4 not 5.

Hey, don't assume! Check his post history before you definitively say anything about him - he might just be having a bad day.
Although, I am with you - XDA has two big problems - the people who actually are forget that google/XDA search exists (not saying that is you) and the people who think people asking questions must have an IQ below 50.
The first condition comes from people not using Internet comment sections (which I am all for, and never do) or forums (which are okay in moderation), and the second condition comes from people using comment sections or forums WAY too much.
Just look at Youtube comments. On the rare occasion I actually use that site and look at some of the comments, man... people are ridiculous when handed anonymity.
I apologize for moving so far off topic!

It's all good though, life goes on. I've seen it on XDA for a long time. It's fine. I'll just break my phone a couple times and figure it out myself. I don't post dickish remarks when I see stupid ****. I usually just laugh in my head and keep moving.
Was my ANSWER helpful to you?
Yes, you're right de previous 5.0 version works but not for all, so I prefer to use 3.0

Testing it now. I was too busy cutting myself for being a lowlife and not searching every page on this entire forum for the answer :\
But now that I've half bled out, yes. You've helped me. I can't say the same for that other guy - considering he basically called me a **** for not doing specifically what you said. Whoops.
Not to start a flame war but I've seen numerous threads where it is mentioned, I had the same problem but ran into endless posts about it. Anyways not sure I saw an actual thread dedicated to it though.
Right - and you know how XDA puts "Similar posts" in the box before you post? I checked those too - and it searches everything, I saw nothing. I typed:
"Clockwork Mod 5.0.2 not working"
"Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2"
All I got were threads on installing it. So... yeah, I did my thing. Anywho, going to go search a suicide thread on how to kill myself. Hopefully someone over there will guide me so I don't have to search cause I'm incredibly lazy.

The 5.0.2.0 does have many issues and I met the same problem too.
Solve it: reflash the recovery 5.0.2.0 via ROM Manager and it may fix, at least to my DZ, it works.
Just FYI, I think this is what you - and many others - are looking for. The last 10 pages or so, specifically.

I have noticed an over-bearing douchey attitude in quite a few threads... Kinda makes you think twice about asking for help, which is retarded. That's the purpose of these forums, unless I'm mistaken...

Seems to be a sweeping trend on a fair few forums I use (not just XDA)
Must be some.strange form of superiority/elitism.

When i installed this rom it breaks my recovery, so i flash it again via rom manager and it works for me... try another time
This should bring some laughter to this thread HEHE...
This is for all the noobs who dont search LOL

Thanks, I found this after I tried to flash back to 5.0.1. That worked for me but wanted to look this up anyway to see why 5.0.2 didn't work.

New firmware update today?

Good thing my battery was dead, it did not take the update.
Anyway my phone is rooted, does anyone know what this update is about and should I let the phone take it.

I did, this is where it got me.
I'm running your rom for a long time, what's this update going to do.
Search, sure, here's an example of the search function.
I search for a word root.
It comes back with 10 links, each one is 1 to 100 pages of replies.
Do you really thing I'm going to spend hours, and hours looking through everyone of them pages for the word ROOT, your out of your Fng mind, when it is so simple for a forum lifer to point someone to the right place.
I'm on other forums and there is one, I will not mention, where it does not matter how many times the question gets asked, people help the person and point them in the right direction.
If your best answer to a question is search, don't say anything at all.
Hold your useless reply.

That's why you don't search "root" lol. Any way, just remove the otacerts from Andy's ROM and don't worry about it. If you take the update, who knows what'll happen. I know it prevented people from s-off'ing their devices. Or rather sending them into bootloops whenever they rebooted using a sense ROM.
