I just flashed 5.0.2 and I can no longer boot to recovery. I'm running:
ILWT CM7 b2 right now.
I can't reboot to recovery from the shutdown menu, or from ROM Manager. It worked once, and now it just sits there at the HTC screen. Any ideas? I tried to reflash it too from ROM Manager - same deal.
Open rom manager go to the bottom of the page, you can see an option that allows you to install a previus version of cwm.. it is called "clock work mod recovery (all)". try the previus version (3.0.2.4) install it... It should work...

I flashed back to 5.0.1 - same issue. Could it be related to the ROM I have installed?
No. If you bothered reading any of the numerous threads speaking of this exact same issue..or looked in the clockworkmod thread you would see that recovery 5.X have issues. That's why the initial response told you to flash 3.0.2.4 not 5.

Oh cool, thanks for having the stereotypical dickish tone. I appreciate that.
I searched... I didn't come up with anything when I searched. I'm not some typical "newbie tl;dr" person. I looked for what I could find, and posted when I couldn't find it.
But hey, thanks for being a **** - and not even posting the thread where I should be looking. Thumbs up, really appreciate that help there.
Admin: Go ahead and close this thread, I found out that I should be clicking on a blank thread to fix my issue. Fantastic. So helpful!
EDiT: And for the record, the 5.0.1 version WORKED for me for a long time... and it stopped.

No clue man. Idk, my account was registered a while ago... if I post something, it means I either:
A.) Didn't feel like reading 500 pages on a thread where 90% of it is "cool ROM"
or B.) I couldn't actually find the result.
A handy "Ok, here's the answer" would be awesome. But alas, elitist dicks still exist on XDA. Forgot alll about that.
I have noticed an over-bearing douchey attitude in quite a few threads... Kinda makes you think twice about asking for help, which is retarded. That's the purpose of these forums, unless I'm mistaken...

Hey, don't assume! Check his post history before you definitively say anything about him - he might just be having a bad day.
Although, I am with you - XDA has two big problems - the people who actually are forget that google/XDA search exists (not saying that is you) and the people who think people asking questions must have an IQ below 50.
The first condition comes from people not using Internet comment sections (which I am all for, and never do) or forums (which are okay in moderation), and the second condition comes from people using comment sections or forums WAY too much.
Just look at Youtube comments. On the rare occasion I actually use that site and look at some of the comments, man... people are ridiculous when handed anonymity.
I apologize for moving so far off topic!
3rd edit:
Spastic909 is actually a cool person, fyi. I can recall numerous (though not specific) times just by looking at his avatar/name where he has helped me out.
"Mama always told me, if I ain't got nothing nice to say, then don't say nothing at all."
It's all good though, life goes on. I've seen it on XDA for a long time. It's fine. I'll just break my phone a couple times and figure it out myself. I don't post dickish remarks when I see stupid ****. I usually just laugh in my head and keep moving.

Testing it now. I was too busy cutting myself for being a lowlife and not searching every page on this entire forum for the answer :\
But now that I've half bled out, yes. You've helped me. I can't say the same for that other guy - considering he basically called me a **** for not doing specifically what you said. Whoops.
Not to start a flame war but I've seen numerous threads where it is mentioned, I had the same problem but ran into endless posts about it. Anyways not sure I saw an actual thread dedicated to it though.
Right - and you know how XDA puts "Similar posts" in the box before you post? I checked those too - and it searches everything, I saw nothing. I typed:
"Clockwork Mod 5.0.2 not working"
"Clockwork Mod Recovery 5.0.2"
All I got were threads on installing it. So... yeah, I did my thing. Anywho, going to go search a suicide thread on how to kill myself. Hopefully someone over there will guide me so I don't have to search cause I'm incredibly lazy.

The 5.0.2.0 does have many issues and I met the same problem too.
Solve it: reflash the recovery 5.0.2.0 via ROM Manager and it may fix, at least to my DZ, it works.
Just FYI, I think this is what you - and many others - are looking for. The last 10 pages or so, specifically.

This ROM is just aHero v0.9 by MaXo64 with ADW Launcher v0.7eclair_beta7_UNSTABLE as standard (for all the lazy people out there ). The ROM & Launcher are in no way my work i just packed them together so enjoy .

This ROM is 100% dead ahero v1.0 is out and comes with ADW.
A good example of how to post other people's work =P
EDIT: I actually mean that.
=(
Agreed, sorry to say it.
All I wanted to do was add ADW launcher so that people dont have to add it after I take no credit and if you dont like it then dont use it and stick with the standard aHero then. I'm just sorry for trying to make peoples lives a little easier.

This is a gigantic waste of a thread, and as xangma said a PERFECT example of taking someone else's work and just reposting it. The actual update.zip for ADW is friggin tiny and if you're too lazy to flash it yourself (and are willing to flash this - a full ROM with wipe and everything for non-aHero users) you really don't belong here. Dabbling in experimental ROMs from unofficial sources requires patience and effort.
IMO the other ADW Launcher thread is a waste as well. Hero users are going to report bugs in that thread, and it's likely that they're going to be missed by the dev since it's easier to just keep up with the main thread. Imagine trying to aggregate bug reports for your app from every single Android Development forum for every Android phone out there - ten seconds of search would find anyone ADW Launcher in its original thread, or even on its dedicated website.
tl;dr if you were too lazy to read then you don't need to know what I said.
If people dont like something then dont comment on it nobody likes to read hate posts if MaXo64 tells me he does not want me to do this I will respect him and stop. I only did this because I had never done any thing like this before and after I did it I was thinking maybe others would like this.

I actually think XANGMA was being sincere,....
I've read LOADS of comments from the veterans of this site having a go at people when they edit other peoples ROMs minimally and start new threads claiming to have a new ROM to offer the community. This is not what Arranmc182 has done.
Infact, only a few days ago I read a post saying if you want to tweak an existing ROM, make it as an update.zip, do not make claims it is a new ROM, and give credit where due,.... ARRANMC has done it by the book, so BRAVO.

Flash the RUU that the phone came with? I have the .76hboot. HW003. Then I could do the toast 3 part root and nand method again? I have tried many options and I can't flash anything.

At the time this thread was posted, the several threads immediately above and below this one were discussing the same issue. In fact most of the first pages in both q&a and general were filled with similar threads. I'm going to have to flash the stock RUU and re-root my phone again. I've tried so many things and I can't flash any ROM's on my phone.
The bad part is that I don't have my laptop with me so that will have to wait until later this week. I'm using an AOSP right now but my signal keeps jumping to 1X and I need a Sense ROM so I can update PRL and update my profile.
So on following sorensiim's guide(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893291) i noticed the jit/ deodexed thingy for a rom number 2.2 or 2.3, where do i get these roms, and how do i install them? also, if i wipe the user settings and dalvik cache, all my contacts get erased, how do i get those back? 3rd, if i went through that guide and did everything but skipped the jit stuff, would i need to re-over clock it? any help is appreciated.

Wow, thanks(!)
A lot of the guides aren't that well written, for people starting from scratch - I'm a reasonably techy guy but this is my first Android phone and I find very few of the guides at all comprehensible.
So saying 'read everything' is not at all helpful.
edit: this guide is one of the clearer ones to follow.
Don't worry about what you're doing, just follow the steps.

The whole point of XDA is for people to discuss and learn. A valid question has been asked, and you don't need to be rude.
Some of us may have been mucking around with our phones for years, but a lot of users on here are still beginners, so give them a break. Nearly everyone here had no idea what they were doing when they started screwing around with their ROMS.
Thank you for explaining that.
How can i install a theme anyone? Plz?
Step 1a: search, maybe read a sticky or the OP from any theme thread.
1b: root phone
2: flash custom rom/deodexed stock Rom
3: flash the the the same way.

Download the latest radio update from Calkulin and flash via recovery.
About halfway through the process of the radio update being applied, pull the battery from your phone.

You guys sure must forget what its like to be new to XDA. Yes, the OP should do some more reading, searching, and also be a little more clear when asking something. But, honestly if when you were new would you have wanted people to treat you that way? I realize the OP's post are very... all over the place but honestly dropping all the profanity is not needed. XDA is being overrun I would have to say, but all your doing is going to cause more of these posts in the long run. Help him out now, and the posts more than likely won't continue as long as he is pointed in the right direction.
P.S. Go ahead and flame all over me for this one if you please. Make my day! I remember when it was cool to act childish and talk like your tough and run your mouth behind a computer screen... Give up your rants, or don't bother posting.

No flaming here, and no flaming towards the OP. I do remember what it was like being new to XDA. It's just like anything new in your life-but it does not entitle you to be obnoxious and repulsive but more so the exact opposite. That is no necessary(or welcomed here or on any other forum. or for that matter anywhere in life really).
To the original poster:
Boot into recovery like you were if you were flashing a new ROM. If you are not sure what I just said, then before you apply any theme or mod from this sub-forum, you will need to have a rooted device. Not sure what I just said? Search the forum for how to root your Evo. Familarize yourself with what rooting is and what it entails. After rooting, find a custom ROM in the Android development sub-forum for your Evo and flash via recovery. Wipe cache, dalvik cache, and then flash. In order to transfer any files to your phones SD card you have to do 1 of 2 things.
1. Hook up your phone to your computer after it has been rooted and change setting to disk drive and you will be able to find it in "Computer" as a drive
2. Remove the SD card from the back of your phone(under the battery) and insert into SD card reader and place files onto the root of your SD card. The root means do not place it anywhere other than the folder that first appears when you open your SD card up.
I was new at one point to bro don't worry. Basically to get a theme, obviously you must download it first, if you download it from your phone its a little bit easier but if you download it from your computer you just need to plug in your phone. put your phone in disk drive and drag it to your sdcard. Very simple and of course make sure you get you know a sense theme for a sense rom(make sure its the same version too!!) and if you have an aosp rom make sure you get an aosp theme. Once it is in your sd card boot your phone into recovery by turning your phone off and turning it back up with holding the power button and the rocker switch DOWN. Go to recovery there and first thing you should do is back up!! So go to nandroid and backup!!!! After that go to install from sdcard, look for your file and install it! let it install and after it should prompt you to reboot device and press ok and your done!
lmao at the lame that took his tyme to rite that
Please be nice, everyone =D.
Theres also plenty of tutorials on youtube just search htc evo themes. And not everybody here enjoys flaming so dont sweat it

In advance i have been using smartphones for some time now but due to lazyness i never really got into rooting and modding them. So as while i am by nature a techy, i still need some things explained. Just some basics about the process, the terminolgy, like CMO9, FD24 so on and so forth, and well just anything about rooting. Im just looking to absorb as much as possible about it so i know what im doing.

Addiction starts this way Take your time and read, read, read before you do anything else.
Also search, search and do some more searching... using the search tool at the very top of any XDA page. It's the best tool to find out about something specific. Be super careful, making absolutely certain that anything you plan to use on your phone is for the E4GT (Epic 4G Touch). If you accidentally flash the wrong thing it can go very wrong.
So, like SomeGuy said, do a LOT of reading.

This is exactly right I spent about 3 days doing research before I flashed and in the end I still ended up almost bricking my phone. I accidentally flashed a ROM for the gt I9100 and the computer would not recognize the phone and in recovery I could not aces my SD card but luckily I was able to Odin back to stock!
Ya i was able to flash it successfully. Got 4.0 on it with fd26 and nova launcher instead of touch wiz, because thats junk in my opinion. Seems to be working just fine, no sms, gps or 3g issues thus far. Video is kinda glitchy on playback within the phone doenst scale right to the orientation of the phone
