Hi Guys
I'm trying to help a friend with a Desire.
Last night her phone just bricked, one minute it was okay then all of a sudden it came up with a screen that I can't remember. (Sorry). Now it's stuck on HTC screen. If I hold power and vol down and try to go into recovery, I get a black screen with pic of a phone and a red triangle.
Her phone is S-On, non rooted etc.
Is there anything I can do ?
Help would be appreciated!!
In recovery triangle, press vol up plus power. You can try factory reset. If not contact HTC to get it fixed under their 2 year ,warranty

do you want to flash a new rom or rescue the phone ?
Rescue the phone would be good although I know the data will be lost.
I tried to factory reset but no luck.

i could tell you how you can flash a new rom but i can not tell how to rescue the phone. as my previous speaker told, you must bring the phone to the htc´s repair shop. are your datas not saved on sd-card ?

after a month of using, today, while driving and uding a navigation software (while the desire is plugged into charger) the phone shut down, i turned it on and then again it shut down and when i tried again to turn it on it stucked on the htc logo.
what can i do?
using a stock rom...

Have you tried taking out the battery for a few minutes and putting it back in?
Could be phone battery got too much power from your car charging port. If thats the case, maybe you could exchange the battery.
yes, i have tried, i think the problem is with to rom, but i cant install any new rom coz they all need rooted device and to root the device i need it to be turned on
If it's the stock rom send it back to HTC for repair. Mention that it has a faulty motherboard. If you don't want to send it back boot in to fastboot or recovery and do a factory reset to see if it changes anything.
Don't ask how to do that just search.
why do you think that this is a motherboard problem?
i have tried a hard reset and it stuck on the same place - the htc logo.
and i have searched before i posted my question...

If you are running a stock rom, it can definately not be something wrong with the rom, as there are no way! Files in the rom(/system) can be changed while you were using the phone. So if a factory reset as mentioned earlier doesn't solve the problem, you will need to send it in for repair. Do a factory reset by:
1. hold down "vol down" and press "power" while keeping the "vol down" pressed
2. Choose recovery by using volume keys and power button
3. when seeing the red triangle and the ! hold "vol up" and press "power"
4. in the menu choose factory reset by using volume keys and power button
if you can't do first step(boot into bootloader), or this doesn't help the problem, you will have to send it in for repair...
and for god's sake do not try to root, as you will just void the warranty.
same thing happend me too yesterday. i search everywhere... found nothing.
phone charge is empty and turned off.. wont came again. stuck on HTC logo screen. i tried Vol (-) + Power button to Recovery, phone restarting and again stuck same screen. i cant install any rom.
i was buy in germany i'm living in turkey and call customer service, they said: "we cant get warranty your device. because you get it out of turkey"

Small problem, i have a Desire which i rooted and put another rom on, now its been awhile since i started this phone and i pulled it out of the cupboard to give to the wife.
Now the problem is i went and did a factory reset in the menu and now the phone will only boot to the "why so serious" screen.
I cant get it to connect to the computer through USB as it says charge only.
i can to a hard reset and get to the fastboot menu but that is all.
any help on how to reset my phone would be a great help please guys

A place to start would be to boot into recovery - hold down VOL DOWN and the power button, and flash the ROM again - or flash a new ROM, that you put on the SD card ?

Problem is i have to files or anything on the SD card anymore, i had used it in another device so it has all been wiped out..

i have here htc one m8n i cant hard reset not working the combinations
Unplug phone. Power on. I don't care if it looping just make sure it is on. Vol up and power exactly 10 sec. Let go of both. Vol down and power to enter bootloader. Usually about 4 seconds.

Hi, I factory reset my HTC One m8, and now when I turn it on it just gets stuck loading. I took it to Vodafone but they wouldn't do anything to it because it had a tiny nick on the side. The guy in the shop also didn't know what to do. I only FR because I wanted to give it to my mum and now I can't use it at all. Any help would be great ...thank you

Do you have custom recovery like TWRP installed when you do factory reset ? Usually this bootloop happens when the factory reset done but not with stock recovery installed.

I don't even know what that is =/ so I guess not. Is there any way it can be resolved? All I can do it get to the factory reset options or turn it off...

I see .. it is not rooted and pure stock ROM I guess.
I don't know whether any RUU available for your device version.
Can you tell what's written on bootloader, the OS no. ?
It's getting late here, I'll check your info tomorrow.

So I turn it on and it comes up with a white box saying unfortunately settings has stopped or unfortunately the process com.Android.settings has stopped. I press OK and it keeps saying the same...

my htc desire 816 stuck at boot screen(htc screen), I already try to restart with press power button+vol up. But it didn't work.
My device back to stuck at boot screen again.
2 days ago I got notification from HTC on my device for update software.
I follow the instructions, download then install. success.
Now, this morning. Just wake up and found my device hang at boot screen.
I create new thread coz I can't find this situation in this forum yet.
Please anyone kindly help my situation.

SOrry to know about your loss. Is your phone unlocked and rooted by any chance? If so then there are some alternatives. If not, it is much better to check with HTC support so that they will get you fresh installation if it is still under warranty. All the best.

I experienced it when I freeze user interface of HTC. It is HTC blink. When I defrost is my phone started.
To do this, I first removed SIM and microsd and re-plug them. Then from settings panel at the right top, I found Rom Toolbox and defrosted apps.
How did u resolve it?

hey, check for RUU for your varient. If available flash stock RUU.
Android 5.0 is very different than 4.4, I suggest you to perform a factory reset on your phone from hboot.
Press power + vol down buttons to enter in hboot
Same problem. Phone has boot loop and not enter to fastboot.
When reconnect battery, phone go to boot loop and nothing.
Try Press power + vol down buttons, but nothing. Has solutions? Or hardware problem?

Got it solved by pressing POWER + VOLUME UP for about 20 secs, after it vibrates and light gets brighter and it will start. Before I also removed SIM and SD cards and plug them back in.
guys I had same experience mine. here is what I did. I opened the back cover, disconnects the battery and connected it back my phone came back but I discovered that the battery stoped charging but phone is working well. don't know why the battery stoped charging

bro please help..my bootloader is unlockes...i was trying to root my phone using cwm recovery and super su zip...after flashing zip my phone stuck at boot screen...please help!!

I unlocked the bootloader and flashed cwm successfully
but when i tried to enter recovery mode all i saw was a black screen !
then i wanted to cancel the whole thing and factory reset the phone
so i turned on the phone and selected reset from "Backup and reset" in settings.
but when i did, the phone bricked and is dead now.
what should i have done?

Try vol. up + power button for 60 seconds.
It might restart the phone.
not sure buddy my phone is still dead :crying:
and when i plug the charger the notification light just flashes and nothing happens
This means that there might be hope still left.
Try accessing your phone via adb and let me know what do you see when you type in this command after connecting to your desire to PC:
adb devices
If the result is not OFFLINE or 'waiting for device' then recovery can be flashed using adb and then you can restore your phone using a cwm backup.

I gave my phone to a repair center yesterday. the guy said he might be bale to fix it
but if he didn't i will try this one and tell you the results...
i hope he can bring it back these phones are really expensive in my country
