Ok, I have an evo, running fresh gingerbread rom, and.....the battery still blows, i have tried most if the popular roms and was not impressed, i have set cpu as well, i dont see any change, im not really that good at this stuff so can somebody PLEASE hook me up with a method to make my phone last a day, roms, kernals, set cpu profiles, anything.....thank you all greatly

If you are on 4g, wireless tether, playing roms, texting, and making calls, then don't expect the phone to last more than 5 hours.
First thing you need to do is start off with a fresh rom... pick your favorite so far.
Reboot
Install kernal (I like tiamat for AOSP or Netarchy for Sense but I suggest you try your own)
Reboot
Install undervolting script
Reboot
Open Google Talk>Settings>uncheck automatically log on then log off google talk
Install SetCpu
If you don't really game or anything then lower your voltages to 125 min 700ish max (you can be more aggressive if you want, but I wouldn't)
Charge phone to a 100%
reboot into recovery
wipe battery stats
Use your phone till it dies
Recharge
I think you will now have a strong phone that can last a good day depending on how you use it
If you still want to increase your battery life after all that
Lower brightness
lower the updating frequency of stocks, accounts, etc
make it a habit of turning off radios when not in use or install Juice defender
Create profile in SetCPU to lower CPU when screen off
All really good suggestions above...
but sometimes it could be just the battery it self... if all else doesn't work try another battery. The previous stock battery was horrible for me even after trying all the settings and etc. Once I got a new battery and did all the setting changes this thing is ready for anything.
What rom are you using? For the best battery life with a rom like cm7 I recommend using an SBC kernel from tiamat 4.0.2 SBC+ and give it a few days to settle in...then when your battery is low around 20% or less charge it for at least 4-6 hours while phone is sleeping..then turn off your phone while plugged in and charge for another hour..then unplug til green light goes off then plug in again til light goes green REPEAT 10 TIMES! then turn on phone while plugged in wait 2 minutes then unplug and battery is improved...do it every time you charge it from low %... this is for SBC kernels...also follow what the others said above me... I use an extended battery on conservative running it at 245 and 768 its been 12 hrs and I'm at 71% with moderate to heavy use...hope this helped
midget tossing is habit...2010 midwest regional champion... hw 001

wow, seems pretty involved, ill give this a shot, im running Fresh 4.0.0.4 rom now, is there another rom i should be using otherwise? i dont use the tether, i just do the youtube thing, facebook, email text and call, nothin to extensive
Try Evodecks 1.0 or 1.2c... Very nice and everything works on it... I'm using Tiamat 4.0.2 w/ sbc, its been 23 hrs and still at 59% thats moderate use though! But just search around and eventually you'll find something that suites your taste... MIUI is also a good rom! Just my 2 cents...

Netarchy 4.3.4 SBC havs more universal kernel
Juice defender ultimate (custom settings)
Turn off wifi limit
Unchecked auto brightness and set it to anything less than 50%
Turn off 4g
Use wifi if available
That's it. I would get a full day out of my battery with little phone lot of wifi usage. Text. Aim. Words with friends. FB.

I come from the Eris forums, where battery tweak threads were plentiful. Can anyone direct me to such a thread concerning (rooted) INC2s? I'm on CM7, and battery life is so-so on heavy usage. I like to think rooting brings opportunities for ridiculously good battery life, but not w/o some tweaking. Help?
For the most part a majority of devs include there own tweaks into their respected roms. Most will flash a custom kernel which allows overclocking and undervolting. Like I am running miui with areos kernel oc 1.2 and undervolted -50. It is now 9pm and I have been unplugged since 8 and still have 70% with medium heavy use.

I'd rather not pay $5 for something that is only simplifying what I can do myself for free, ya know? I know in the Eris forums they had recommended CPU settings that I could do myself in the CM settings; do we have stuff like that for the INC2?
i usually get at least a day in a half with heavy use. You just need to experiment with custom kernals and different voltages. Not really a simple answer, you need to do the research yourself.
How do I alter voltage? I don't remember that feature on the Eris...

Incredicontrol from the market.
Try Drellisdee's kernel, #21. It's already undervolted and can be overclocked.

On cm7 you'll need aerovans .8 kernel which you can get on rootzwiki. Then install incredicontrol from the market. I undervolted mine 75-100 on all and had no issues with excellent battery.

#1 cause of battery drain: Global mode enabled. Make sure to disable it in settings/calls and set it to cdma only. My battery basically doubled after doing that. I figured that out the first week I had it.
So I'm currently running Juggs 5.0 and using the Darkside kernel. First day was rocky but relished it and love how smooth it is. Now am just testing the battery life. Here are much questions... 1) I was using cpu tune for my Faux kernel and used different profiles for it. Since I have Gideons script can I still do that? 2) Do you recommend it since I have this script? 3) I want my phone to not use hardly any battery when at rest or sleep, what's the best way to do this with the info I have given? Also I am using juice defender. Thanks in advance fellas !!

1) Yes but I wouldn't recommend it, its equivalent to having two CPU apps, they'll conflict, so pick one
2) See point one
3) Make sure your phone is deep sleeping, by using CPU spy and betterbatterystats to avoid app wake locks, which keep your phone from entering deep sleep and draining more battery.
For better performance all around (including deep sleep) i recommend undervolting with either faux clock or system tuner. Gideon script can also be modified to undervolt more if you read up on it a little.
As a side note, the general consensus among power users is that juice defender sucks. It drains more than it saves

No, a kernel won't kill the radio. Jd sucks, and it eats up more battery than it saves. Having your radios shut off makes a smartphone dumb. Run gideons script and call it a day.

Yeah I know that but I still don't know a lot about it still. I have to read here and there and processing time for me may not be as quick as some of y'all But what I thought underclocking was is it is going below the standard speed that my phone typically does like 1242. So it would run at 1080 or whatever rate I chose. So I guess I'm wondering is when does it decide to run at whatever MHz it runs at? So the numbers I showed, is that about right or good? Again thanks

I'm new to Android. I made a few posts on here making that abundantly clear (lol). I am just wondering, what exact part of the OS is the kernel? For example, I'm using LiquidSmooth with the default kernel that was included with that. If I were to flash the ktoonsez kernel, what changes would I see? Also, could someone point me to a site where I can download the KT kernel for LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 JellyBean Beta 2? What other kernels are there? What are the advantages of using them? And finally, where can I find them?
I'm looking for a way to conserve battery life right now, but not take away from how my phone currently looks. Sorry for asking such a stupid set of questions, but I'd like to know about this since I plan on sticking with Android. And if that's the case, I wanna learn all about the neat things I can do to make my phone customized, sleek looking, and effective.
Thanks in advance for helping out this new comer to the Android scene
The kernel is the interface between the devices software and hardware. Its basically a bundle of drivers and code to tell the hardware and software how to communicate. All computers use a kernel from windoze to OSux and Linux. Android is based around a modified version of the Linux kernel. You won't see any visual changes when you flash a kernel. And you can find em here in the development or original development sub forums
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Cool thanks for the detailed explanation. I never really took the time to look up the exact purpose of kernels in an OS but you just explained it to me perfectly.
So, are there any kernels that are better for say battery conservation and performance?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
That all depends on your settings and usage. Theres no one way to get the best battery and performance for your usage, mostly just trial and error trying out different settings and tweaks til you find what works for you. For a good battery performance balance undervolting and overclocking work well. For instance I'm on a note 2 and im overclocked to 1.8ghz and undervolted by 75mv across the board and get almost identical battery to stock, however I still gain in performance without sacrificing battery. Now if I drop my clock rate back to stock and keep the undervolting I get same performance as on stock but my battery life increases by a few hours.
