MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE ON STOCK ROM!
Download Kies for galaxy y: http://www.samsung.com/gr/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/smart-phones/GT-S5360UWAEUR-support
Install it
Then connect your phone to your pc
Open Kies and let it scan for your device
A window will pop up telling you that there is a new firmware version
Download it...
Let it install...
(DO NOT DISCONNECT THE USB CABLE OR YOU MIGHT END UP BRICKED)
Thats it!! You can now install your rom and your earphones wont have any problem!
Tried to do this but because I installed the creeds rom on my galaxy y I am unable to update via Kies... Odin would probably work but it seems impossible to find and load the needed files (especially for my German version)....
So I'll stuck on creeds without earphones at first but I'll try again later...
No no you have to do this on your stock rom.Thats how it worked for me
Yes but it's too bad... I can't restore to stock... OR I am too stupid
Here you go : http://www.samsdroid.com/2011/10/samsung-galaxy-y-s5360-stock-rom.html
Download the rom and flash it
currently doing this hope for best...
good luck
thanks really nice so far, i was able to restock my galaxy y
but kies still seems to be unable to update my galaxy y...

There is a devil in disguise called Kies, which Samsung has unleashed on its victims (customers).
The internet is full of it! Google 'kies' and you Will find only problems from the first page itself!
Don't know what Samsung had in mind when it was released. Working on it is like a hurdle race and the normal user isn't an athlete! Even if you pass on hurdle somehow, another one is waiting for you with a big grin. There is no alternative. Use Odin and your warranty's in trouble.
I have been trying to upgrade my GT-I9000 to 2.2 for days! First Kies won't detect my phone. I tried deleting files with long extensions but it didn't work. After many more alleged solutions I finally had to hunt down all Kies files and registry keys. Reinstalled Kies and it worked. But this was not the end of the story! It detected the phone but won't upgrade it!
"This device firmware cannot be upgraded!!"
Why??
Even the Samsung people did not have the answer.
Another series of possible solutions and finally one worked!
But again this was not the end. Halfway through the firmware download came the 'Cannot connect to remote server'. Only once it had brought misery but it came again, and again, and again.
And until now the end user still lies in vain.....
You came here to complain about Kies.... ????
Dude, just flash it urself, it's easier and safer ....
I would never use Kies to upgrade, hell NO... But goodluck..... U ginna need it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
search on here for Kies Reg Hack and spoof the product code as XEU, then re-connect and it will give you the update.
or just do it the odin way as previously suggested.
Odin, definitely
Use Odin. Got Froyo in my GT I9000 yday with it.
Kies is the worst piece of crappy software I've seen.
Cheers,
Roger

Same here, never really had any problems with KIES. I've flashed numerous times using the reg hack.
I use ODIN only for kernels and modded ROM's.
However, to use ODIN I always have to use my laptop (WinXP) as it gives errors on my desktop PC (Win7).
No problems with Kies here as well, but rejoice ... with 2.2.1 and higher, you can get OTA updates on your SGS.
Dread using kies.it doesnt work on one computer its bricked my other computer.

Didn't know that, any idea on how you should get the updates (when one is available )?
ota = over the air, which means u download with our phone, no need for pc.
now u need 2e recovery to do that now, because the update has to be signed by samsung(i could be wrong with this, as I didn't use it)

Thanks for the info!
.
Those who did not have any problems must be the luckiest people on Earth!
I had problems with every install on all my machines.
Well im using odin to flash stock firmwares on my phone. Just using Kies for samsung drivers, is that ok?
Only problem I've had with KIES is that I have to plug in my phone before I start KIES or it won't find it. My experience with the software has been mostly positive.(That goes for the old and new versions of KIES)

Having Trouble updating to Jellybean via Kies
Hello guys! As my username implies, I've been the owner of a Samsung T989D Heracles for about 8 months or so. I've had so many **** ups when it comes to doing any exploits with my phone and most recently I've had issues upgrading my firmware with Kies. Twice now there's been this notice of this box that appears to say "PC can't recognize my phone" and that was due to my phone being in download mode. Tried unchecking and checking USB debugging resulting in the same **** happening again. Not comfortable with installing Jellybean unofficially because I don't wanna deal with my wireless carrier(the sales people in the store are a bunch of idiots). Any advice or suggestion?

Download mode is used to install packages, Kies put your phone in download mode only if he installs any update, so it means you shouldn't put your phone on download mode to make it recognized by Kies. Did you install the specific drivers for your phone?

A lot of the time this is due to your PC not installing the drivers correctly.. Either that or you should try different USB ports.
Try downloading the newest Odin connecting your phone and put it in download mode. If Odin does not recognize your phone then the drivers got borked up during installation .. And if Odin does see your phone ..then just use that instead.
**** kies !

If you can access download mode, there is no problem to flash back the system.
Go to sammobile, look for the ROM of your model, download and flash it with Odin.
I did the same thing when wiping out OS.
i tried with as many rom as i can find in xda but odin fail every-time .
unfortunately i didn't have a backup of my original rom .
is there anything else i can do or i should find more rom and try again & again !!!

If you're in Bangladesh, try to flash the ROM for your region.
Does your Wifi work before ? What ROM did you flash successfully ? When ask and lack of information, it's very hard for others to help you.
Make sure you have good USB cable and USB port when flashing.

i download it from www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T310/#firmware

.i had to install the JB 4.2.2 if someone know how i could update kitkat manually 4.4.2 please let me know
i think my wifi isn't working since when i first root the device, when i turn wifi on its show my router name but when i try to connect its don't connect says connecting then(saved ,secured )
although before rooting it work's fine i even can update to 4.4.2 using my wifi.
the new rom has nothing to do with the wifi problem .i brick my device for trying to fix the wifi issue at the first place............. i'm guessing it's a root problem.
