32GB Samsung Class 10 Micro $35 @ Fry's - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I have this card and love it!
http://www.frys.com/product/6786695
I've tried 4 or 5 different 32GB Class 10 cards and this one outperforms the others in terms of r/w speeds.

Thinkin' about gettin that. R/W speeds as advertised? 24MB read and 13MB write?

Not quite 24MB on the read but the avg is around 20-21. Write is 12MB on my phone.

Wow that's a steal at that price. I paid almost double!

Can someone post a snapshot of their speed with sd card tester or something along that line? I got the card but the best I can do on the Epic Touch is 5 MBs write. It goes to 10 MBs on my computer and on my Motorola Photon.
I have the same result with my Class 6 micro sd. On my Epic Touch the max it will write at is 5 MBs. The same card goes over 11 MBs on my computer and my Motorola Photon.
Here are my speeds. The lower write speed is on the Epic Touch while the higher one is on the Motorola Photon.

Just got it and ran a couple tests.here's shot of second. Read on first one was 12.87.

Just reformatted and choose a diff directory and this is what I got. apparently it doesn't like writing to root.

What rom and or kernel are you using?
On the way home I went to a Sprint store and tried the Samsung memory card on their Epic Touch phone and got the same result as mine (5MBs write speeds).

formatted the card with SDFormatter:
formatted the card using android's built in tool:
next, i'll be testing the card using pc + external card reader.

from this i can conclude that formatting method does not matter much, but SDFormatter does seem to be a little better in Write tests. Also, copying using phone/sdcard-mode sucks @#$%

That's your internal sd card.

I've noticed that for the first 128 mb or so the read write is blazing fast, then it slows down dramatically. Anyone else experience that? We should be testing with more than 300 mb at a time for more accurate results.

I tested with 1GB files and Read is ~18MB/s

Anyone getting wake lag with this card? I know you were a while ago Frifox. Did you ever get that fixed?

damn, i just tried to purchase this and it is no longer on sale... guess i have to shop around now.

No Need, I use my stock 16GB and write at 7MB's and read at 22MB's Just use Sd Booster and set cache from 128kb to 1024,2048,3072,or 4096. So I went from like 2MBs to 7Mbs and went from 12 to 20ish

I would not - sequential read-writes are slower in Lexar and Patriot vs. SanDisk (had first hand experience with all 3 brands). I was using the card to run CM7 on Nook Color from uSD, and the only one that would work was SanDisk.

64 swap 1024 for ext.3 the rest for fat.being that you have a huge sd you can triple these values I have given you, but they are the standard Evo setup.

Thanks. Ill post the results.
Wasn't the trick formatting it through the phone? :screwy:
Makes my 32 look like nothing, LOL.
I copied everything from my card to my computer. Then I formatted the card through my computer, then created a 2gb partition through the recovery menu. Then updated the partition to ext3. Then I copied everything back to my card. Now I am moving all my apps back to the ext3 partition. Right now I have 33gb left
Still going strong. I've flashed, formatted, installed, and reinstalled Roms, files and apps with no problem.
The only thing is I should have gotten a class 10 instead of the 6. I have about 10 movies, 14gb of music and apps galore.

Upgrading SD Cards

So I just got a 32GB sd card to replace my 16GB one. My 6 year old iPod doesn't hold a charge and the headphone jack doesn't work anymore. So my thought was now use my phone as my iPod (good bye Apple).
I was surprised at how easy it was to put the new one in. Plug it into the computer along with your phone and copy all of the app data (and pictures, etc. you want) onto the new one. Unmount the one in the phone, and put the new one in.
Not only do I now have double the space, but my phone is much snappier. I used the same class and brand, so I figure it must be the way the app data was written to the new one. Instead of apps randomly installing files while downloading/saving on your phone, I think the one way ticket across platforms put them in nice and neat.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is my assumption off the mark?
Shhhh! ... don't tell any Apple users about this. Its a secret. Changing the battery and adding memory, priceless!
Can't say I've noticed any speed increase, but it's a good path to take for your music. I had to go all the way to a 64GB card (yes, they do work) to hold all mine - and the various ROMs I tend to hold onto.
64gb for the win.

Format 64gb. Sandisk micro SD to fat32

First and for most I am not responsible for anything that might happen to your phone, computer, or sd card. I am simply posting to help anyone ot there who might have an error with there new cards.
So along with alot of others who jumped on the 64gb micro sd sales I purchased from best buy. When I tried to get my phone to register the card which was originally extfat by default it wasnt recognized. So then I tried formating to ntsc to yet again fail. I finally tried to convert to fat32. What follows is a guide to get uou 64gb sd card to fat32.
First make sure you backup any info you might have on you 64gb. Card because formatting will erase EVERYTHING.
Second, connect your micro sd to a computer. I personally used the micro sd to full sd adapter that came with my card.
Third go to the following website
http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?fat32format.htm
And download the gui app by clicking the picture.
Fourth run it. Make sure you select the right location to were your sdcard is.
Fifth click the allocation to your preference (im not sure what this is suppose to do but I set it to max roughly about 64-65) then make sure you select the right destination if not you can format your hdd on the computer. Then press the quick format and start button.
Sixth the script should take less then a min. To be done and have a formatted fat32 64gb microsd card..

How common is this issue? I've got a 64GB Sandisk with exformat in my T889 with no apparent problems (so far).
Im not to sure how common it is but I ran into trouble. I tried the default for the card then ntsc and it wasnt registering with my phone althought I must say I was running perseus kerenel with the memory swap script. Then after I formatted to fat32 it work. Not sure were I read on some other people running in to trouble with the same sandisk card until they formatted.

I just had the same thing happen to me..I downloaded a bunch of albums..they were there..then I rebooted and they were gone...but when uTorrent was downloading it told me I didn't have enough space..I told it to go ahead anyway...they made it but then disappeared..
I have had my 64gb. San disk for about a year and a half without any issues. I formatted the way I outlined in the first post and it has been smooth sailing ever since. I know that the first post could be a bit tedious but it is the RIGHT way. No short cuts. I did have an issue with some kerrnels. For example saber kernel from Jedi Roms says that it can swap your memory partition from external to internal and it does for about a week and then for some odd reason it just locks your SD so you can't download or delete any thing. The combination I have been using is an old school pegasus kernel with a memory swap script. I have been using that for a long time and not only is it the most stable memory swap, but the kernel has never messed up my SD either. P.S. just my 2 cents

[Q] Problems with 64 gig SD Reads 36gigs

I have a SG Note2 ..I bought a 64 gig card ( Sandisk) when I got the phone, installed and formatted it. Up until last week I didn't really notice the storage on it. I was downloading some old albums via uTorrent and all of a sudden I was told I had insufficient storage space. I downloaded anyway, checked, made sure all was on the SD Card, and then did a restart..after the restart all my newly downloaded music was gone, and I saw that I had 59 gigs TOTAL SPACE..but only 36 gigs AVAILABLE SPACE..
My phone is Rooted, and somewhere I remember being told that none of the ROMs recognize 64 gig cards. I did not root my phone, a friend did it for me and I spoke to him today ..he told me that I should try and reformat the card with the phone again..I did and once again it said I had 36g of storage available..but showed 59g Total Space.
Can someone tell me if this is a problem with the ROM or is it a problem with the phone..I have read in other Forums that Samsung doesn't support 64g SD Cards..is there any way to get the phone to recognize the card? Or is it an error with the card? I am not sure that it read 64g when I installed it, I just assumed it did.
I am in the process of trying to learn how to re root my phone, I was content to just let it be.if it is a fact that I will never have access to 64g on this phone as a Rooted Phone, then perhaps I should go back to Stock?
I could really use some help..I am truly lost in technical jargon..and do not fully understand rooting..If you all could help me out here I would appreciate it...I would like to learn, but like any Newbie I am scared I'll mess my phone up..I am good with Computer stuff, just scared of Killing my phone,,LOL!
