Hey everybody. I'm reviewing the RnD charging dock that charges a spare battery. It isn't the 3 pin charger, its a micro USB charger. I've had one of these for my thunderbolt and I liked it.

On Amazon, it didn't specify if it was for the LTE or GSM version. Its for the GSM version. Although the LTE version fits with both the standard and extended battery (which is what I got), the spare battery slot on the back will only fit the standard GSM battery which is smaller than the LTE so no guys, the spare slot does not charged any extended battery nor the LTE standard battery as I've tried
The dock has a micro USB port in the back and it comes with a USB wall adapter which is like and I think it charges the phone pretty damn quit
There is a blue light in they front that tells you its charging. It only stays blue. I wish it would turn red to tell you its fully charged but it only stays blue. Not much of a big deal but its just something I wished it would do
On Amazon it says it fits without taking the case off your phone. Obviously for us LTE users, its a no go. But for GSM users, I'm sure it will take a really thin case to fit into the cradle. I'm not sure if you can notice very small spaces in the pictures before but those are supposed to be for the case to fit
I do not recommend this but I do have a thin case on my LTE GNex that I got from Best Buy when I bought it and I managed to get it to fit into the dock with some force but I do not recommend it lol
Okay guys for $20, this isn't a bad option to have til we wait for the 3 pin dock to come out. I enjoyed RnD in the past and I expect to enjoy it again. Hope someone I some how helped someone out there with this little review. Any questions just ask

Thanks for the review. I wonder if it will fit the GSM version with a casemate barely there case. I may just buy it.. lol
I just bought this too
I just purchased this dock and i agree. good quality and fits like a glove. nice weight to it too, so you can use the touchscreen without it feeling like its going to fall over.
on top of that. i just got the 2100mah extended battery with the larger battery cover... and it fits! a bit tighter... but not a problem at all.

I noticed in your pics that there was no insert/adapter. Mine came with an additonal plastic insert that snapped into the dock. I dont use a case, and this made it fit snugly.

Damn..
Had made up my mind and started ordering this one.. But they wont send to Europe/Denmark and ask me to try amazon.co.uk.. But they dont have this one on their site..
Have tried to find it on other sites, but without luck :S - If you know another site selling this - please let me know..
If anyone here at XDA would buy this one for me and sent it to Denmark, I would appriciate that and and I will of course pay all costs..
Edit.. found it on another site

Lol I never got that insert
Came home from work to find mine chilling in the door and my first thought was a "meh". It fits my LTE GN with the official extended battery well (snug, but I'm not fighting to dock it) and it's balanced enough that I feel secure that it's not about to tip over in use. As said before, the second battery charger isn't big enough for the LTE battery, but I wasn't planning on using that anyhow.
Overall, it's a good deal better than the *nothing* I was using, but I'm a little annoyed that the listing on Amazon didn't indicate which version of the device was for. Given what I know now, I don't regret picking it up, but doing it over again, I would have likely kept shopping around.

Agreed. I would have really liked it if they said if it was for the GSM or LTE version but as you said, better than nothing and doesn't really look that bad. If I would to start over, I might have to go with the Seidio one

is that a holster and allows the phones screen to face inward? if so, i am very excited! i just spoke to my friend about that the other day...all the cases ive seen have the screen facing outward and exposed...i dont like the vulnerability of that..i told him i wish i had the resources to pitch an idea like that to someone and get it made...also..is that phone in a rubber case too?
also...im curious about the ease of putting the phone in and out of it...if it will scratch up the back of the case
they are selling on ebay for much cheaper $14
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Protector-C...588767?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1e68949c9f
Can't you just do that with any holster? Its the same size around, unless some holsters have the button area set but this one seems like both ways since both side are the same amount of space for buttons
DMolina ツ
the package comes with a holster and a case..i dont know about the dimensions of either...if you buy a case or holster separately they may not fit perfectly together...and most holsters are just cases with a small detachable piece on the back to put it on/off of your belt...therefore the screen is facing out..which to me is a no no
like this one..

I actually still use a holster or I would lose my phone lol. I was gonna buy.that same combo on eBay but just decided to wait for the active seidio combo.
the seidio combo looks a lot higher quality...but it is crazy expensive $40-50?

DO NOT BUY
i got one of these cases for my phone the first week i had it same color and everything and not only is it a cheap POS but it doesn't even snap on the phone snug and is bulkier than a ************ buyer beware!!
It ended up fitting my phone so horribly i demanded a refund from the seller and he told me i didn't need to bother sending it back.
ALSO: the title "3 in 1" combo case is a load of **** because the kick stand doesn't work in landscape...no joke. You can see in the pic i uploaded that the kick stand clip part sticks out and the phone cannot balance on that uneven point it literally just doesn't work.
Also the portrait mode kickstand mode requires you to put your phone in upside down and the kick stand function is based off of extreme pressure on cheaply made plastic and nothing else. When you bend the pincer clip open you can see it bend where it is connected to the holster by a clearly visible glue circle
So yeah just wanted to prevent someone else from wasting twenty bucks... and sorry to those who already did.

I use this iPhone sport armband case for my phone so i can keep it safe and protected but also add no extra bulk. I wish i had a link but i got it from Walmart looked through all their cases and was about to walk out when i saw this beauty sitting on the iPhone exclusive aisle of accessories.
It fits the phone to a tee.. snug as ****. Its almost too good of a fit but manages to be perfect.
Again i wish i could hook it up w link or even brand but i just threw the packaging out as soon as i got it and slipped it in my device heh.
Here's a visual reference I'd imagine wall marts all have similar inventory especially with something like this
I'm aware the phone is not a sgs2 its an evo 3d to demonstrate how much you can see the screen through the window and because i dont have tapatalk installed on it and im too lazy to install it just so i can take a picture of the phone im using with it. Rest assured that the case fits like a dream. The material is also made so you can interact with your screen through it.

Just found this Seidio Innodock Jr. charging cradle for the Galaxy Nexus and ordered it from Shopandroid.com. The thing I like about this is that I can sit it on my night stand and charge the phone while using it for an alarm clock. And hopefully I can do that without removing the silicon cover for the phone, which makes this better than a desk dock for my needs. Removing that tight fitting cover every night and putting it back every morning can be a bit of a pain.

UPDATE:
I received the cradle today, so here's a review on it... First, this is a nice looking charging stand. It's not your typical square box shape. It can be used for either charging or transfering data with your phone - just like plugging your phone into your computer with the USB cable that came with it. The picture shows a power adapter plug on the back of the unit along with the USB port. However, that little hole is NOT for a power adaptor. It probably used to be, but now it's just a hole with a little plastic plug inserted to close it off. So, if you want to use this cradle for charging your phone on a night table (which is why I bought it), then you have to also buy a 5v AC adaptor that you can plug a standard USB cable into (like this one). This cradle does come with a standard USB data/charge cable (with a full size usb plug on both ends).
Perhaps the nicest thing about this cradle is that you can fit almost any phone on it that has a center-bottom mini USB port (like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus). AND, best of all, you can leave the phone in the case. There is plenty of room to acommodate almost any tight fitting hard or soft case. The same feature, however, makes the phone a bit wobbly on the cradle. But the USB plug does fit snuggly, so there's little chance of the phone falling off. The USB port on the cradle does pivot back and forth, to allow the phone to rest against the back support regardless of the width of the phone, and whether or not you have the phone in a case.
Just making a suggestion here, but if you want a dock for your bed side, may I suggest this one? Only for the fact that it has a second battery charger in the dock as well as it is only 20 bucks

I was reading the review there about the charger and the person says it can only be charged via usb. Can you plug that cable into the power outlet adapter that comes with the Nexus? If so, that shouldn't be a big deal if this becomes your primary charger.
I also wonder if I would be able to leave my Incipio NGP case on while using this to charge my phone?
What that reviewer was saying is that there is no mini USB input. Looking at the back of the thing, it looks like the power source can either be a standard USB cable or the plug-in ac adaptor that comes with it. I'll be using the plug-in AC adaptor. Obviously, this cradle was made to fit a large variety of phones, not just the GN.
It also looks like it will take almost any skin-type case, but may have trouble with anything too thick. I'll let you know more when I get it in a few days.
UPDATE: That little hole is NOT a power port, so you need a 5v USB power adaptor if you want to plug this into an AC outlet. See updates to original post.

This one's pretty close. Just won't charge the phone in a skin case. Also, it says it's for the i9250 model, and will not fit the Verizon i515 model.

I saw that one. Ideally, I want to find something that works with a case on the phone and has a slot for a second battery.

Dang! I wish I'd seen that one before I bought this one. I'd guess that the 2100 m Ah extended battery that VZW sells should fit. It doesn't add much thickness at all beyond the natural curve at the bottom of the phone.

I also just ordered this one, should be here by Friday. The description on amazon says it has a removable insert that will help accommodate different sized cases, so I would bet if it doesn't fit initially, removing that insert should allow you to fit the extended battery in there.
Unfortunately I don't have the extended battery so I won't be able to tell you for sure. Hopefully someone else that has ordered it does have the extended batt and can give you a definite answer.
Just purchased this from Amazon http://amzn.com/B0041RRORA and it works perfectly with the inductive cover from Verizon
I will post pictures tomorrow after work, but here are some pictures of the battery door on the device. They are $39.99 from Verizon, but I got 2 for that same price, they owed me big from past issues.
So total I spent $70 for the kit and I can charge 2 devices at once, so it's win win for me and my gf. Only downside is that non of my cases fit anymore going to have to see if I can find one that will be able to protect my phone and have the wireless charging capabilities.

Why does the Verizon GSIII and only the Verizon GSIII have to have 2 sets if pins for inductive charging while every single other variant available just has the 1?... I really wonder what's the difference is between the different pins by the sim splot and the pins all the GSIIIs have off to the side.

Well I'm doubting these covers will work on non Verizon GS3s seeing as only 1 set of pins would be connected to the device and not the pins at the bottom near the sim slot which are present on the black strip on the cover.
I don't know for sure as I really don't want to spend the money on something that may or may not work for my phone and none of the Verizons around me have it to go in and try. I would love to be proven it does work with the others. Samsung is taking too long releasing the official kit.

Once i pulled the wireless charger off of the verizon case. I turned my phone over put the wireless charger onto my phone and then just put the back of the otterbox straight onto the phone and charger.. when your peeling the wireless charger off the case if you go slow the tape will come off with it and then it will just stick straight to the otterbox.
Once I get home I'll post better pictures, but I tried T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T Galaxy S3 and they all charged fine with the Verizon Inductive battery cover

They have them at Verizon stores, they are pricey though ($40 plus $30 for the pad) I'm sure once they are more available, they will be cheaper. But it's worth it to me to not have to strain the usb port. Think I am going to make one for my car center console. I will post pictures if I ever get to it.

THANKS....this looks sweet. i might have to try this out. i always wondered that. how does the wireless charging work. I hope they add one with a flip case and one with a car mount. How cool would that be with a cig lighter port with wireless charging. Yah. thanks guys..
Thanks for checking out my review. I have a lot more bigger pictures of this set up on my blog.

Please check it out. Just getting it started. Please hit thanks if you find this informative or helpful and I will keep trying to review products for you guys.
We've all fallen in love with our Galaxy S III. What would have made our phones better? Extended battery life. Thanks to Seidio, they've provided us with the solution. I was relieved to find that the rubberized back was an added bonus. There has been much interest in this finish due to the sleek design of the factory back.
If I ran the numbers right it, the battery has a 40% larger capacity while still maintaining the sleek design.
The total weight of the extended battery and case came out to 6.53 oz. Factory weight was 4.76 oz.

The SURFACE Extended case is the standard SURFACE case in the Seidio line up. Straight and to the point. It's the minimalist case. It covers up the corners. It's nice and thin.
Battery installed.
The hump in the back made the phone much easier to grip. The hump fell right into the palm of my hand. It didn't slide around like it did without it.
Fitment was dead on. I've been trying different back covers and the Seidio cover fits the best out of all the aftermarket covers I have tested. It's even all around without leaving any open gaps.
The SURFACE Extended case stays snug. You don't have to worry about the phone slipping out.
I was glad to see that Seidio took the time and made the case fit. You can see how accurate the openings are for the camera, speaker and flash.
The standard Seidio clip. Same as always. The top mechanism is still the same design we know and love. You never have to worry about it wearing down and cracking. It has the same spring design.
Conclusion
I'm in the wireless industry, so the the extra life is put to good use. The numbers do not lie. This is moderate use throughout the day. Maps was triggered by Google Now. I'm sure it would have last much longer without it. This would equate to almost 72 hours without a charge. I apologize I stopped at 49%. I will redo the test once I am settled back in. It's highly impressive from how it performed and I am content in this product.
MSRP: $69.95 for the Seidio Super Extended Battery available at the Seidio Online Store.
$49.95 for the SURFACE Extended Combo also available at the Seidio Online Store.
I definitely recommend this extended battery. Seidio has always been there for me when it comes in terms of quality and reliability. NFC compatible battery is available for around $5 more. I've had their extended batteries on my Blackberry's and my Evo. So I'm sure this won't be the last! Tomorrow I am participating in a 12+ hour event, I am confident I won't have to worry about a charge during that time. I'm looking forward to showing off my new battery.
Not something I would get but I'm sure it's great to have that much juice Thank you for the review.

the back is kind of [email protected]@...
this thing looks a little thicker then the 4200 ones that people are getting. does it have NFC? etc etc.
Holy crap, you barely used the phone. Can you try some kind of stress test?
Nicely written though

It was moderate usage throughout the day. At the amount of time it was on... the %'s show. It's not like I'm gonna sit on Facebook 20 out of 50 hours. Sure I can do a stress test, but those numbers mean nothing when you don't know how it equates to real usage.
I'll see what I can do.
Interesting
I bought a 3300 mAh battery myself.
With stock battery, i got 6-7 hours of screen time with wifi on and pretty low brightness.
With my new battery i got over 16 hours of screen time with wifi on and brightness at maximum.
This is the GT I9300 with stock everything.
Nice review. Any specific reason you went with the Seidio over the Mugen?
I had a Mugen on my HTC G2 and it was fantastic. I never found myself frantically looking for a power outlet.
It's just too thick for my liking, I can't use some accessories with it
way too thick and ugly for me
had the seidio extended on my evo 4g.... straight love is all i can say.... considering the nfc ext for my s3 now....never tried mugen....actually jus heard of it... cheers

I say Mugen belongs on Hondas. I've always been a fan of Seidio cases and tried out their battery and it worked well for me. So I stuck with Seidio and didn't change.

Lady hands. That is all.
Why does it look the same size of not bigger than the Hyperion 4200 which is 700 mah bigger. That's a big difference it should be a millimeter or 2 smaller.

Gonna be ordering the backdoor to use with my hyperion battery and fhe extended case. I cracked my hyperion backdoor since the plug is tight with the honeycomb case.

Why does Hyperion claim to be 4200 when not 4200? Think.

It will not fit a honeycomb case correctly at all. the "bump" is lesser in width and length.. it will look like butt. (FYI)
---------- Post added at 06:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:17 PM ----------
can we get a length and width dimension of the "bump"?
and is the "nonbump" the same size as stock?
I ask, because THIS may work with a DRACO!
(and if you decide to sell it, contact me, You are a great seller.)
Extended Surface Case.
Seidio also has other new cases out. I think they have an Active as well.
hi just received my long awaited qi wireless pad from china only to find it does not include the receiver part that fits over battery, bahh!!!
does anyone know where i can purchase one from in the UK ,Dont want to wait all that time again ,your help would be greatly appreciated .
sorry, but that seems to be the only choice unless you can find an ebay seller who sells in the UK.
You might want to contact that seller to get them to ship the receiver pad to you.
I would've suggested against getting the transmitter from them to begin with though. apparently the 2nd gen ones are picky and unreliable.

sorry, can't help you with a UK vendor. But this vendor shipped to me within hours (good communications, emails, etc.). Ordered 2 days ago so don't know how long it will take. But for now at $14.80/gbp9.80 you can't go wrong. Good luck.

cant believe how cheap the items are!!
Something you don't want to hear, is these receiver are becoming unreliable just like the transmitter, with cases reported to either DOA or stop working after a while with some of the new batches, there are some good new, it's only a small %.
Apparently it's all related to rushed production with bad QC due to great demand.
Mostly with the name 'Charmlink' printed on the front label, so it's best to ask if there is warranty for them.
Another option for Canada and USA buyers, this guarantees no bulky look because it replaces a new cover for you.:good:

that's pretty slick. Should have been stock from Samsung so cases were built off those specs. I would imagine any case that fits well won't work with that cover. Still pretty sweet setup.
that back piece will not fit with any case whatsoever. It's a different size and you'll either have to mod the case or the battery cover.
The receiver pad by itself would add a slight bump that can be circumvented with a more "restricting" case like the otterbox or the ballistic sg

That's because the new case makes the phone thicker, but no bulk because the bulk is hidden by the thickness of the cover..... That's why ,out of all those pics in the Ad, not one shows what the inside of the Cover looks like....LOL...they are thinking it will scare buyers off...lol.,...

Samsung didn't and does not plan for the phone to be as thick as it will be with this cover on....Here is a Pic of what the other side looks like....now you get a better idea of how thick it is....They left the pics of the back off , out of the Ad for a reason....LOL..

got my Qi pad from Fasttech today. Ordered the 28th, shipped the 30th. Arrived today. Currently $14.80 shipped Also got the wireless charger from Nokia. $38 with company discount (otherwise about $50) from ATT or Verizon. Works like a champ.
Fun Facts
Fits under OEM cover. Small Hump, barely noticeable. (< 1/16 inch hump)
Diztronic TPU Matte Black Case fits great
Charges about 10% in 30 Minutes. Similar to plug.
NFC works fine. Zero issues.
for Reference, I am running DarthStalker X, Stock Kernel.
yup. the Qi receiver pad seems the be the best choice in terms of getting to put your own case of choice as well as not losing NFC at the same time.
I believe the charging speed is a little faster than usb but slower than AC (according to the receiver pad).
the more flexible cases seem to be the ones that can cope with the bump.
Could anyone recommend a trusted website or seller to by the charging pad from?

Thanks for the replies since those are my only options, do either of you or any one else recommend a brand of the charging pads? I know there's the palm touch stone, duracel, powermat and so on. But what would you guys recommend?
