So.. I really like that, when declining a incomming call, I have the option to not only decline it, but also choose between a couple of prefabricated texts that can be send to the declined caller.
But.. I would really like to be able to change these texts, since I dont think all are relevant to me.
Does anyone know where this can be done? Or better yet, do you know of an app?
P.S. I've been trying to search, but havent been able to find a post like this, despite that it seems like an obvious request, to me. So, if my search skills are null, please link.
Phone -> Menu button -> Settings -> Quick responses
Click the one you want to edit and you can edit it!
What I would really like to see is the ability to add custom texts as well......haven't found how to do that yet so far
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
Yep. Same here. It is in Cyanogen so I dearly miss that option...

Greetings All,
I recently got the tilt 2 as a replacement for my Fuze from ATT warranty, and marcini made my day with his volume fix, but I still have a couple of questions I hope some can either help me out, or direct me in the right direction.
Being a Motorola user before, I liked the idea of being able to setup contact ringtones and sms tones for each contact, instead of WinMo have one tone for all sms's. Anyone know if there is a way to do this, either by hack, or third party that threads along?
Also I see there are alot of lock type programs, and have done searches but havent found anything, is there a program that allows you to lock certain programs from being accessed without a PW? For example I'd like to lock the messages from being accessed and say the contacts without entering a code. Again motorola had this feature as well as some other phones, and was wondering if anyone knows if there is anything out there like this for the Tilt2?
Another question is, in the stock ATT tilt2 when you get a call it shows a picture of who is calling, after answering the call, I notice that the call screen says unknown with a avatar outlining? This from what I have seen only happens with incoming calls and not out going calls.
Another problem, in the Fuze under the people tab, you could finger swipe to have the plus box to tap so you can add people to the list, it seems that in the tilt2 you have to tap the plus sign thats located at the right, having big fingers, thats not always easy to do. Is this by design or a bug?
Last this would be a mod if anything, cause I have seen this be this way with htc since the 8125 model. is there any way, hack or cab or what not (Not third party) to increase the amount of alarms from 3 to possibly 5 or 6? I normally use the 3 alarms and when I need to I change the last one all the time, because the first two have to remain.
Last question I promise, US Tilt2 or US Touch Pro 2 users, On my version I have noticed that the signal bars are constantly shifting from 0 bars to 5 bars, especially after the phone screen blacks out and then you hit the power button to wake it up, but it also does occur with awake too. Is this something everyone is experiencing? Or only ATT tilt2 users? I have checked this with other phones I have, (Fuze, Tilt, LG Incite) and I dont see this problem occur.
If any of these have been answered I apologize in advance, but I have been coming here for a very long time, and I have done numerous searches over the past and sometimes I get lucky, and sometimes you dont, but I dont recall seeing any of these questions ever asked.
Incase anyone needs to ask, I am running the stock rom that came with the tilt2 from ATT with WinMo6.5.
Thanx for anyone helping out with the questions, or directing me to the right place!

You can choose individual ringtones for a contact by editing their entry in the Contacts app and selecting a ringtone from the drop down menu. There is no native way of selecting a tone for SMS though.

A known issue with the Tilt 2, and lucky you, HTC issued a fix for it today.

That is by design. You can also tap the Menu soft-key and select Add Favorite. You can also add favorites from within the HTC Contacts app. Just slide over to the Favorites tab and tap 'New'.

Windows Mobile by design only manages up to 3 alarms. To get more, you will probably have to resort to some 3rd-party application.

I have not seen this issue with my phone. It may be the way the phone responds to the reception in your area, or some other factor.

Then do you or anyone know of a third party app that threads into the htc app to add sms tones to each contact?

Yeah I know the other ways, but thought they would have changed that since the screen usually stays at the last contact to stopped at.

Well that is another factor in this area, but none of my other phones do it so I thought I would ask and see. I have tried with Advanced Configuration to shut off 3G but it wont let me, going to see if the HD2 Tweak program will to see the results, since 3G is just about dead here in South NJ with the flood of Iphones sucking up the bandwidth.
I'll ask my questions here since I dont think making multiple posts is needed:
Anyone know where the registry location is for landscape to portrait mode? I installed the cab that increases the list of apps using G-Sensor, but for some reason if I go into file explorer in portrait mode and then turn the phone, the screen wont switch to landscape mode?
Anyone notice that the calculator is different in landscape mode then portrait mode? Landscape its scientific.
Did HTC remove the IMapp for AIM, Yahoo, MSN? If so, does anyone know of a IM app that works on the TP2 that doesnt use Data? Meaning AIM, MSN, Yahoo, would connect but I have an umlimited txt plan and its free, does anyone know which might do those 3 or all of them thru the txt msg plan and not data?
Sorry for all the questions, but I havent seen them asked so incase anyone else has issues its in one Post.
Thanx in advance for the answers.
As far as a seperate alarm.. I fully endorse G-Alarm.. http://www.ageye.de/index.php?s=galarm/about
That is one sweet alarm proggy..
As far as the individual sms tones.. a google search of xda with terms sms+contact* gave me this thread as a first result.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=236909 haven't used it, but reads like Mort Script stuff to me..
I have a might sound like a stupid question, does the slideout keyboard on the tilt2 light up? I am getting mine on Monday 12/20 I have searched everywhere and can not find the answer.

This should answer a lot of questions that might 'pop up'.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=019DUvmT8D8
Is it just me, or is there anyway to remove the option to Send a Message to any numbers not designated as "Mobile"?
In my address book, numbers designated as Home or Work still give me the option to Text them.
Its frustrating to accidentally send a Text to my Wife's work number, because I selected the wrong option in People, when it shouldnt even show as an option unless its a Mobile.
Any one able to help on this?

I'm not trying to sound mean or anything but maybe just don't text the wrong number...?? Generally you should probably know your wife's cell phone number vs. her work number.

Yes, I do, and you are right, user error is the most at fault here.
I know my wife's cell number, but I hardly know anyone elses. Thats why I keep a detailed Google address book, so that I dont have to.
However I still think its silly that it allows you to designate numbers as mobile or not, but then automatically gives you an option to text non-mobile numbers. Is it not?
And if it is silly, its something Id like to correct if I could, hence asking the community if anyone else has seen this, and knows of any way to address it besides always pushing the decision on the user.
That's a good point. I thought that was annoying as well. I do most of my messaging straight from the messaging app but it still shows all numbers. It's a bit annoying.

Sorry I don't have an answer, just want to say I'm with u on this. I think its reasonable to expect such a genius phone to know it can't send a text to a land line.
Although, as I type this I'm realizing that more companies are using cell phone for their primary lines and employees. Who knows, maybe we will be able to send texts to land lines someday soon. If a regular phone has an lcd for cid display why couldn't it display a text message... things that make you go "hmmm"
I asked a similar question before in a different thread... but does anyone know if the People app source is ever released when they release the source for the EVO ROM?
I imagine the hardest part about excluding the option to message other numbers would be finding the right spot to implement an if statement. Then would it be possible to compile the APK and install that custom version on my phone? While I would be in there I'd probably address the First name sorting problem
I'm 100% with you on this. I know it's part of user control but it shouldn't have to be.
There should be a checkable option in the Messages/SMS app: "Include Non-Mobile Numbers" and it should be off by default.
I also wish you could exclude certain contacts in the Messages/SMS app. There are people at work I would never text but I have their number in case they call me (I often am the "go-to IT guy") so I know who it is.
Ah well, we can hope!
I'm so with everyone on this..It annoys the hell out of me.
but you know what? I found out that apparently Sprint has some kind of service that will txt to landlines.
txt your home phone and you'll see..maybe there is a way to turn that off i dont know. didnt check much further into it

Yes, I've done it by accident many times. Those who I've texted (landline instead of wireless), said they answered the call and was given the option of having my text "read" to them. In fact, I just did it yesterday to my brother, thought I was texting his cell and instead sent it to his home. His wife answered and some "computer lady" read her my text...

I know this version of the G1's Contact.apk has this option (it was my request of the dev lol)
It works on my EVO (2.1 rooted) but MAN it's ugly after using People for the last few days.

I hate to say it but some people's mobile number is their home number. Lots of peep no longer have land lines at all. If you put a filter on what the sms app shows you would likely have as many people unhappy about that as you do this. If your going to error, do it on the side of making things possible as opposed to restricting things is likely the logic in play here.

I thought the messaging app did have that option then I realized I use handsent and it does have a mobile only option in its send settings.

i guess it depends on how many contacts you have but you could create a group that only contained mobile numbers. Although if you have a significant amount of contacts this would probably be a pain
I created separate "land" contacts for those I text and that have land lines. Lousy but works.

Download handcent sms from the market and under settings, then send message settings, check,"show mobile num only" should work for you. Sorry if this was already posted, I didn't read the full thread

This was an issue that was very irritating on the Nexus S, and it appears that the problem is still present in this Nexus. It seems that there is no audible alert to notify you of a text message while you are in a call. Basically if you don't just happen to check your screen then you won't see that you have a text message while you're in a call. The only other way around this is to use 3rd part text messaging software (which I really don't want to do). It would be nice if they addressed this in a future update, though I'm not hopeful they will, considering the same problem was present in the Nexus S.
I posted this issue in the google support forums. Hopefully it can get a little bit of attention.

I have not received mine yet, but the galaxy s 2 has a setting to change this. I don't know if the nexus has this also, but ill share just in case.
Settings>Call>Call Alerts>Alerts on call
Let me know if the settings menu is the same.

No, this setting does not exist in the Galaxy Nexus. I've posted this on the Google Support forum, the more people that post on it, perhaps the sooner Google will get this rectified.
The OP is correct, noticed it myself. Im not sure how i feel about it yet, just wanted to point out that it doesnt alert.

Well I know how I felt about it when I had been on the phone for an hour with my lady and I just happened to want to send someone a message, and I picked up my phone to notice I had a text message that had been there for about 45 minutes that was regarding some money.....I wasn't thrilled about it lol. The same issue was present on the Nexus S and I had to use Handcent so that I could have audible text messages during calls. I don't really want to do that again, as I actually like sms client in ICS. Hopefully Google makes the change if we make sure they know about it, hence the support post in the google forums I linked to.
Hi All
The standard SMS forward works fine most of the time, but occasionally I need to forward a text WITH the senders number. This is a royal PITA to do.
Does anybody know of a app that will allow me to do the latter without removing the ability to just do the normal forward of the text?

I don't know any app like that but that can easily be done with tasker
you need root though :/

The phone is rooted, so that is no problem, however I can see no way of doing this with either tasker, or AutomateIt, as I want to only occasionally do this. What am I missing?

I put only the essential in it. You have a on/off button and a number to enter. Give it a try
Permissions : receive SMS, read SMS, send SMS.
If you need everything else in it, just ask.

Sorry about the delay getting back to you, for some reason I wasn't notified of a response.
What I'd really like is an extra option on the pop-up when I do a long press on a message with "forward with number" alongside the normal forward. is that possible?

Ok, long story short.. 2.8yrs of an EVO4G and an easy way to assign SMS notifications to contacts. I cannot for the life of me find a Google link to do this on the Note 2 that works. I've tried Handcent to no avail. I'm just looking for a way to assign a custom sound (as if from a soundboard) to a contact strictly for SMS msgs. I could spend all night looking for the right combo, but thought I'd finally break down and post a ? here.. This site has always had my answers for the EVO4G, but I can't find it for the Note 2 on Sprint.
Any help much appreciated!
Eric
Edit: Must have just been impatient. On my EVO4G I was able to long press from most soundboards to assign it to a contact. On the Note 2 it's a little more complex, having to install the notification first, then go into Handcent and assign it, then having to go back and change the default notifiction for the phone so that tone only rings for the contact, and not for every event on the phone.
Go SMS will let you assign custom sounds to individual contacts.

That is going to be dependent on how the soundboard is set up...not really Nything to do with the phone. The "better" way would be rather than use soundboards (which do not always give you direct access to the sound from handcent) use zedge to find the tone you want and then handcent or zedge to assign them. Soundboards are typically some of the simplest crudest apps on the market..and each is going to vary in ability
