Ok after my motorcycle incident my hd7 was somewhat broken but still usable.
Currently my power button died, volume buttons dead and camera dead. To unlock screen I press and hold camera button so OS attempts to start camera then it crashes and goes back to main menu
I am looking for new phone are any of the 2nd gen phones fully unlock able or even better hacked boot loader?
If not might need to get Android as do not want Another HD7.
I'ts the best thing to check out the 2nd generation WP development threads....
On the moment they're not hacked, locked, unlocked or wathever....
But personally I think it won't take long anymore

hi everyone thank you for taking the time to read my post. my htc magic is give me a few problems. it's been a great phone for about a year I got it before it was discontinued. the phone is being replaced under warranty exchange. I had a few smarphones to pick from wildfire. s seemed to be the best. one. looking at the forms the Gsm / T-Mobile model can't be rooted. looks like I should just sent it back and get a different phone. is this the right thing to do should I hold out until soft were method for rooting can be obtained. at most I have a few days to decide. I love to see any feedback on his issue
First of all, WS is not bad phone at all.
For average user,it's more than ok. The biggest problem is it can not be rooted without xtc clip.
If you are not advanced user, keep it. If you can afford some other phone, replace WS.

Right, only you can softroot with a software (zergrush and an modified adb sequence). But if u don't know what u do, then read all and read and read.
Thanks for all the feed back. There are a few things I like about this phone. BY default wireless tether is turned on. It has android 2.3
As far as what I can afford, this phone is a warranty exchange so I was limited with my choices.
at some point i would like to put a custom rom on this phone. The boot Loader is locked so that's out of the question. Looks like most every one here has the same problem so I guess I joined the club. I will just cross my fingers and hope that HTC dose what it promised and unlocks the boot loader.
Worst case I will have this phone for about 8 months be stuck at android 2.3 upgrade and think very hard about buying any thing from a company that locks the boot loader. Thanks for taking the time to ready my post
First , welcome to the club.
Second, don't count on HTC to unlock bootloader for this phone. If they ever do that, it will be too late, this phone will be forgotten by devs.

You can get back your HTC One X through your IMEI number just make a complaint about your lost phone to the police station or tell about your lost phone to the HTC. No matter if someone change your SIM card your phone can be located through your phone's IMEI number, you will definitely get it back.
Now about my HTC One V-
It's a great phone. There are NO Heating Problems too.. Wi-Fi works superbly and camera is excellent. The ONLY thing I didn't like is the options button which we had in the other phones... I'm an Android user from years and now it's a little bit difficult to have it in my mind that me phone doesn't has the options button and has the "Recent Apps" button instead. 1 more thing- The 1Ghz Single-Core processor works fine but it does get stuck or freezes for a second sometimes... However, people ask this question frequently- "How will I reboot/make my phone work again when it hangs completely?" HERE'S THE ANSWER- The Phone doesn't hang (at least I've not experienced such a situation on my One V...). It just stops for a second (SOMETIMES) and then it's alright. And I have NO Yellow spots too. Only the thing is that it's very necessary to get a scratch guard immediately as "I'm the ONE You've been waiting for" sticker has to be removed so that we can use the phone... It's also important to get a nice cover so that the great back metal body doesn't loose it's greatness.

gosh i miss Lee's Rom on the ONE X as it allows you to reconfigure the buttons... that stupid design by HTC seem to plague all ONE series phones...
Is there any good custom roms on One V which I can use?
Hi there,
I have a 6 day old One X, Telecom NZ phone.
Last night while using maps the phone locked up, I allowed 30 seconds for it to come right and it didn't so I held down power for 10 seconds to reboot. Upon reboot I was presented with the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen with the message below in red "This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's written permission. Failure to comply may lead to legal action." The aforementioned boot screen would remain indefinitely until I pressed the power button upon which it would momentarily turn off before rebooting to the same boot screen.
I feel at this point I should note that the phone is completely stock and I have not begun to tweak anything at all yet.
So after this screen being on for an hour or so, possibly enough to drain the battery (battery was near 40% before the phone began acting up), I long pressed the power button and it turned off, that was the last time I saw my screen display anything. Assuming the battery may have died coincidentally at the same time I pressed the button I was hoping a stint on the charger at home may fix everything. Charged for a couple hours on my PC with no sign of life from the phone, then a couple hours on my wall charger with nothing, then all night approx 10 hours on my PC again and still nothing.
I have also tried all the button combinations including those recommended by HTC for hard reboot and hard reset.
These include: Hold vol down + briefly push power; 30 seconds hold power; hold power with both and either of the vol up or down (tried all combinations).
By the look of it I am in for a warranty claim, do you think so?
If so shall I talk to the chain store I bought the phone from or to HTC directly?
Thanks for reading
Van

I believe I have the right to a repair, replacement or refund, which option is of their choosing, usually the repair option, and from past experiences that can take multiple weeks I'm also reasonably confident a courtesy or loan phone wont be on offer either.
Even if it's a week old?

Yeah I'm pretty sure it doesnt matter if its not working out of the box, they have the option to send for repair
I will go in and talk to them this afternoon
Is it just a dodgy Power-On button...
I Think with a lot of HTC handsets there is a replacement power button, I think it's VOL+ on most handsets...

Hi thanks for your suggestion but I have tried all buttons and all combinations repeatedly before taking it back.
I have now taken it back and due to lack of HTC One X stock and decreased price on the Galaxy S3 I was able to exchange the phones directly, really happy they agreed to direct replacement rather than repair as select chain sotres have done to me before even when only 2 days after purchase.
I do not know how to but this thread should now be closed despite not being solved
Thanks

Hey,
I had the same problem, send it in for warranty and got it back If i want to replace mainboard for 223,36 euro.
Broke as I am I went searching and found a thread. I will search the thread for you and link it. It is a script you run with your phone connected to your pc/notebook. That's how I charged my one x. Unlocked it with htcdev.com flashed cwm and installed custom Rom. Or run RUU.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658084
At first it didn't load to 3860Mv (above 30%) this was due my pc after it tried the script on my girlfriends laptop it charged!
You can also try to send it in to HTC and cross your fingers. =)
All credits to the OP of the thread.

So I bought this xperia play off ebay..it was listed as having a bootloop so I figured.."Should be an easy fix." Well..as long as its plugged into the computer, and i hold the search button, I can get it to boot. Doing that got me to the home screen where I discovered the touchscreen is broken and doesn't respond. It has the latest update on it and the ps buttons work, so I'm wondering if it's even worth rooting, or even possible with the touch screen working.

First thing you should do is replace the touchscreen digitizer (you can find some on places like ebay) by following guides like these

OR

Next you can root your phone by following guides like these (ROOT AT OWN RISK!!!!)

I had a weird experience just like yours. At first the touchscreen is messing, and then it became totally unresponsive. I did everything I could. Debranding, changing firmwares, restore factory using SUS, using pc companion, etc, but again, the screen isn't responding but just like yours the gaming pad is perfectly working. I turned it off for a day and when I turned it on again, it shows some responsiveness just a little bit but then again, it became unresponsive later on. So I came a conclusion, if the flex is broken, why the hell I can navigate using the pad? So I turned it off for a week without removing the battery, sim, and microsd. Surprisingly when I turned it back on, it came back to normal. It was a year ago and until now the screen is pretty responsive. Hope we have the same problem:victory:
Thanks for the tips, I was able to return it and bought one from someone that already worked. Sadly its a verizon branded one and can't unlock the bootloader..dang I hate verizon (i have an htc as my main phone.)
After some extra reading I finally got the new one rooted and running 2.3.3 I wish I could flash more roms but from what I read, the gb roms are the best for gaming and so thats basically what I got it for, its pretty cool! Thanks again!
Correct the best roms for the xperia play are gingerbread based roms which only work on the international phones. You pretty much have the short end of the stick lets just say. Development for the r800x halted since of March 2012.
Luckily I didnt buy it for development ha, maybe another day I'll switch it for a gsm version or wish for Sony to make an upgraded one!
Hi XDA-Community,
I have the following problem with my Captivate Glide:
I can't switch on the phone in any way (no normal startup, no recovery-mode, no odin/flash-mode).
The only thing telling me that the hardware is not completely broken is
Code:
lsusb
yielding
Code:
Bus 002 Device 011: ID 0955:7f20 NVidia Corp.
So, what did I do to "achieve" this:
I installed the CM 10.1.0 RC2 [30/05/2013] from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217288
I used the phone for approx. half a day.
I connected it to the charger in the evening.
The next day the phone turned out to be bricked when I wanted to switch it on.
I really have no clue what happened, others are running that ROM, too, and they seem to be happy (BTW: I was happy, too, but only for half a day). With earlier versions of the ROM I observed frequent crashes (the phone completely froze and I had to restart it by removing the battery), could this an indicator of some hardware defect? I also have no clue what actually caused these crashes (android, apps, hardware ...), I wanted to take a look into this, but I didn't find time to do this.
My question now is: Is there a chance to unbrick the phone? I read about the low level flash tool nvflash by NVidia, but I also read that it does not work for the glide as Samsung locked the bootloader. I also read that the phone is an unrecoverable brick if the odin/flash-mode could not be reached any more. Is that really true?
So, maybe someone has a hint for me. It would be nice because I actually like that phone.
Anyway, thanks for reading!
Ciao, Fabian

1) Power down the phone and remove the battery.
2) With the battery removed hold the power button for 10 seconds.
3) Re-install the battery
4) While holding the volume up button press the power button, keep holding the volume up button...
You should see a warning screen asking you if you want to continue. This is Odin download mode, if that does not work then there is something seriously wrong with your phone.
Since the flash of the ROM worked for a while, I would suspect that it is not an app / rom issue. This smells like a hardware failure to me. Generally those happen either on very new devices (less than 72 hours of operation) or at the end of life of the device (very old phone). In one case you can claim warranty, in the other it's time for a new phone.
Wish I would have better news but that's what I'm thinking from what you are describing...

The only other thing I can think of is maybe the battery is completely dead... How was the battery holding up the last few days? If it was on it's last leg then it may be worth while getting a cheap battery off ebay to test.

Well, then I think the only purpose of my captivate glide is to increase the totally available surface ... It did not react in any way, thus, it seems to be broken in some non-recoverable way. I don't think it's the battery, I already cross-checked this using a battery of my friend.
Keep up the great work on CM 10.1 - I really liked it!

Sorry for your loss
For some reason it's defaulting to Tegra recovery mode. This could theoretically be used to recover the phone... but there's a catch. Depending on how the fuses are set on the CPU, you may need a device key to talk to the RCM bootloader. If the fuses are set as such, you will need that device key, and acquiring it has never been easy. We certainly don't have it as we've been relying on the openness of Samsung's official bootloader.
More information about recovery mode here, with sample code for talking to the RCM bootloader:
http://http.download.nvidia.com/teg...t-flow.html#_error_handling_and_recovery_mode
If you manage to successfully talk to RCM, let us know what you did. I could very probably use the same technique on a working device (specifically, my Glide) to get you the blobs you need to make your phone work again.
