Hello to everybody!!
This is the first time I write here but I read it since long time.
I'm using AN-Droid custom ROM and it's very good but unfortunately the power consumption is a little bit higher than Froyo RUU. The question is: what happen if I flash Froyo RUU keeping Oxygen r2 HBOOT I'm using now for custom ROM?
Is RUU able to re-flash the partition map or will I get a bad error?
thank you in advance,
regards
It obviously won't fit so you'll have to fix what you break by doing it.
If you're flashing a Froyo sense RUU, you want to first fastboot flash the downgrade.img hboot from the alpharev website to allow the RUU to overwrite it.
If you're flashing a custom Froyo sense Rom, you just need to flash the stock alpharev hboot first.
No point using a,RUU unless you are sending to HTC though. Custom will be better.
Try getting your roms from xda. They're good here. Try to go for ones people have heard of and report good battery life on. If a custom Rom battery cannot match Froyo 2.2 sense official, then that's really poor

Hi,
thanks a lot for your prompt reply....I'll think till 100 before to risk to flash RUU keeping the current HBOOT
thanks again

Hi guys,
Looking to unroot my Desire and sell it.
What's the best way to do this please?
Thanks
Partition sd, then flash RUU
Thanks
Will sort out.
Take a ruu rom and flash it
Is it that simple even if you are s off and are running a custom partition? I was reading that you need a goldcard if you are boot .93 or greater. The unroot guide thread has a lot of comment from people who haven't simple loaded the standard ruu, maybe that's their issue
Yes, its that simple. You only need a goldcard, if you handset is/was branded and you want to run a unbranded RUU.
S-Off doesn't cause problems, except you have flashed one of the new downgrade-proof hboots from alpharev - you can check by booting into bootloader and check the version number. If its version 6.xx you need to flash the downgrader-hboot from alpharev first, then run the RUU, if its version 0.xx, you can just run the RUU.
thanks. I'm selling mine so am about to give this a go. I'm running cm7 partition so was presuming I would need to get the partitions back to stock before doing anything. Just loading the ruu sounds much less hassle.

Nope, the RUU restores it all back to stock
just thought I'd update this for completeness. If you've used a recent version of alpharev you have to flash the downgrader.img before running any ruu as the hboot change is now blocked.
But only protected against ruu and ota, other hboots can be flashed without using the downgrader.

You flashed an RUU to revert to Stock Gingerbread right? Stock Gingerbread requires the stock hboot, CM7r2 is not big enough to contain it. Hence the HTC logo and 4!. Go and flash hboot downgrader from AlphaRev and reflash RUU again. The 4! screen acts as fastboot so just fastboot flash from that screen.

Oh My GOD!
So I have an HTC Desire with Oxygen hboot and devnull 1.1 ROM (AOSP) and I want to perform an official Gingerbread update from HTC.
Bottom line: how do I do that?
Have it downloaded already, but I've heard that trying to install it on an s-off'd device may result with a bricked phone.
go to www.alpharev.nl and download the bravo_stock hboot and flash it..
then download the downgrader and flash that
reboot bootloader
run the 2.3.3 RUU
Actually, I just ran the .exe. Nothing else. I was running on MIUI with s-off and so on, no problems at all
I'll flash the downgrader just in case. Thank you guys

If one can change from S-OFF to S-ON has absolutely NOTHING to with rom, it depends on the hboot one flashed:
If you flashed one the r2 revisions by alpharev (Oxygen r2, CM7 r2; number: 6.93.1002), you have to flash downgrader before you can flash RUU because these newer hboots have an overwrite protection against RUU or OTA.
If you flashed one of the others (N1 Table, Data++, Sense) or the old revisions of Oxygen and CM7 Hboots you don't have to flash downgrader because these hboots don't have the mentionend overwrite protection.
Now I get it all! Thank you
Hello, i have unlocked my phone with htc official tool, and it have installed a 1.03.0003 hboot. Now I want to flash a custom rom. But it is possible to "undo" all and go back to a 0.93 hboot for flashing (example) cm7 based roms?
Thanks
NO...i think....
Apparently it is possible to gain root access, but about changing hboot I'm not so sure if revolutionary team would bother with it. In summary - fail.
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk.
in fact, i am now able only to install stock hboot custom roms, like ics beta.. revolutionary tool works only with 1.02 hboot, at the moment.. I have tried goldcard, flash old hboot with fastboot, but nothing.. Hope someone will be able to "delete" this hboot...
Hi everyone, two really quick n00b questions...
Do you have to upgrade Hboot from say 1.21 to 1.39 etc if you want to run a new platform (Jelly Bean) Sense ROM?
And you don't have to upgrade Hboot to get a AOSP Jelly Bean ROM?
The reason I ask is because I'm trying to figure out if Hboot is directly linked to Sense ROMs, it's because I've just read this thing saying you have to update Hboot to get JellyBean on your HOX... but I'm running CM10 on my HOX with Hboot 1.21 (I think...) lol.
With hboot 1.39 works all Sense rom and CM10.1 rom based.
For CM10 you need a special boot.img

All CM10.1 works fine, CM10 needs a special boot.img.
For upgrade your firmare:
- Relocked your bootloader
- Copy/paste the firmware in folder where you have fastboot
- Open a prompt and type: "fastboot oem rebootRUU" (you can see a black screen with a white written)
- Type: "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip", you can have an error, retype and it will work
- Type "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and you can see you hboot updated
- Unlock your bootloader
- Flash a recovery
- Flash a rom

If you upgrade to 1.39, you can't downgrade because there isn't the s-off.
But if you want jelly, you have to upgrade and, however, you can use ics rom with new hboot
But not CM10, this rom need a special boot.img with new hboot
