Just to clarify, you can not flash an EI22 MTD ROM if you are on EL30, correct? Will the main MTD ROMs (CM7, MIUI, etc.) become available soon? Thanks in advance

As long as the rom includes a kernel I can't see what the problem would be.
I used to flash froyo and gb roms right over each other with little trouble. Though I could never restore data from the nand after doing it -had to restore apps from TB.
But I could be totally wrong. So don't take my word for it.

CM7 and MIUI are already beyond EL30. They are Android 2.3.7. You can flash an EI22 MTD ROM just fine as long as you have rooted your EL30. You will maintain your EL30 modem if you do.

Thank you, that answered my question! This will also be the case in future GB updates right?

I have looked across epic 4g Q n A, android dev, and general. But I can't find a true answer. Is it impossible to update PRL on MTD ROMs? Surely the Epic 4g community isn't the only crew in MTD land. With that theory other android communities must have figured this out already, right? What I can gather, PRL is flashable, but the only way you can get a PRL is from stock read:bml... Perhaps our friendly devs/rom builders should provide links to the latest PRL along with their MTD based rom. Someone please enlighten me

I just changed using Clean GB after doing a nan of my current cm7. Just make sure that ALL the drivers are installed before attempting. I even had to go into download mode to let those drivers install before qpst would recognize my phone.

Yes, because it is pure AOSP the necessary communication files are missing. If you pull Sprintandroidextensions or Sprint_app_updater out of a BML ROM it will not update either.
Can the sprint stuff be added to cm7 short of modding the rom?
So I could nan cm7 go to cleangb, update PRL and nan back to cm7 and still have current PRL?

1) This Belongs in Q/A section
2) Sprint can't push you EI22 or EL30 if you are on SRF or any other custom rom
3) You can flash any rom EI22 or EL30 custom rom you want right from clockwork and flash to upgrade your modem from EC05 to EI22 then to EL30. They are all good and really only depends on your preference. If you like SRF then I might suggest Legendary or Revival to you.
4) This answers every question you have posed so don't reply to it and let it die off the development page. If you have more questions please open I new thread in Q/A and I you will get all the help you need there.
Thanks!
Just flash an EI22 pre-rooted ROM. Any are good.
For future, this goes in "Q&A", not development. Jayharper, can you relocate this, por favor?

Holy WOW, SRF 1.1.1? Man, time to hop into the 21st century brotha! I know what it's like to find something you like and not want to change it though. I usually stay on most ROMs until the next next update comes out. I get something that works as well as I expect a custom ROM to, and I'll sit with it for a while, just not quite like this!
And yeah, as the guys above said, you can't update OTA if you're running anything custom as the install will fail.
I would suggest upgrading your CWM to version 5.x.x.x (whatever it is now) and then flashing one of the EI22 based ROMs. Legendary is a good and stable one, I'm assuming that's what you're looking for.
Hello all:
I'm a noob here so forgive me if I've missed something somewhere else.
I am on a stock EL29 rom and I'm rooted. I haven't done the ICS OTA update, but I would like to try ICS. The OTA notification keeps bugging the **** out of me. So, Here are my questions:
1) How do I flash ICS on a rooted GB EL29? Do I have to unroot first and then do the OTA update? If not, what and where are the correct procedures?
2) When I boot to CWM, it shows a Team Rouge logo and the menus aren't exactly the same as the menus I see in various demo videos. How can I get a "stock" CWM and flash it over the Team Rouge CWM? I downloaded ROM Manager and tried that, but the phone still boots to the Team rouge CWM.
3) Should I just forget flashing ICS altogether and just flash a new ROM/Theme on EL29 instead? If so...what's a great ROM to flash?
4) Any other suggestions y'all might have
I have Android version 2.3.6
Baseband version S.D710.10.S.EL29
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EL29-CL852097
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.EL29
Hardware Version: D710.010
Thanks in advance....

Yes, I want ICS rooted. But if I do the one click, can I do it over top of a rooted EL29? I've also heard that I have to have a certain CWM to do the flash to ICS. Is that true?
I also want the ability to back the other way.
I'm just really worried about bricking the phone....I've read enough on here to be abundantly cautious....
Just do the one click and then flash agats kernal via computer after(QBking77 has a video on YouTube showing how to do it).

You can flash a direct boot cwm from mobile odin that is safe. Then from there flash whatever ics rom you want. No emmc brick risk.... also that will keep the yellow triangle off if its not there already

If u wanted to go back you could do the mobile odin flash then restore the nandroid.

I would even say give the JB AOSP a run. Battery life is great, has a couple cyamogenmod components, and is really really smooth. Last build today really made this phone a daily driver for me. Flash the same as ICS cyanogemod but make sure to flash jellybean gapps right after the ROM.

Thanks Dante...I was reading about that Rom earlier. From what I've heard, the battery life sucks on the stock ICS, so if this one has great battery life, that definitely would go a long way to recommend this rom.
Thanks again!
CM9 battery life is great. I havnt tried that AOSP JB but I haven't found one that was stable enough for a daily driver... I'll wait a month or two before JB on the e4gt.

Hi, I am not new to rooting and custom ROMs but it has been a while and the forum has so many roms that it is hard to decide which is the most stable.
Would you guys please recommend to me the best/most stable/most customizable(cyanogen) AOSP rom for this phone? Basically I'd want the best CM9 rom and hopefully CM10 once its stable.
Thanks

Interesting.. so thats in the original development section, whats the difference between original and android development?
Also, I'm a little lost on the whole recovery thing... can someone please explain it to me and how I can get the safe clockwork for my s2 so I can flash the CM9 you guys posted? My baseband is the FH13

Can I follow the simple steps in that post? Any requirements beforehand?
I have not seen a consistent explanation about the difference between the Android and original development forums.
I have not tried AOKP. That particular version you linked is no longer being developed. There is a newer Jelly Bean build here:

1. I believe the difference between the to sections is that Original development is for AOSP based roms while android development is for roms based of stock or leaked firmware. That being said i dont think that many people understand that when they post and it has been kind of a Cluster f.
2. Are you currently on the OTA? you will need to odin a kernel that has a working recovery with it. If youre going to another rom right away it may be easiest to odin EL26 cwm, then load into recovery and flash because this will install the kernel/recovery packaged in the rom.
3. Ive used AOKP some and its pretty nice but i am one that likes to stay with a rom that still has activity. That way if i have problem there may be a chance that it is going to get fixed. But if you are ok with a few problems here and there go ahead and test out CM10 or sbrissens AOSP.

1. Yeah I was going towards that conclusion but I dont think people understand it either.
2. I already flashed CM9. I used the mobile odin method in this link: http://e4gtcm.blogspot.com/p/cm9-install-guide.html
I flashed the kernel and I got stuck on recovery and couldnt get back to my regular rom. I was just wanting to get a recovery then I mounted the storage and put CM9 and gapps and flashed away. Now im running CM9 and its flawless.
3. Can you link me sbrissens AOSP? Thanks!

2 Part Question here.
After a good run on CM/AOSP built roms, I'm coming back to stock based for awhile. Has anyone seen/found a way to get an aosp style signal bar on FI16 ? (Battery, clock, wifi/signal) ??
2nd Question is: Since the JB builds seem to do partitions differently with /preload - anyone bounced back and forth between source built JB and stock based ? If so, what did you do about that extra partition?

Thanks Blues... I did not realize the one-clicks re-partitioned.
I saw Jelly's theming but I really wasn't a huge fan of it. My personal taste is more of a simple blue AOSP style and I just haven't found that on the JB stock based cooks yet. I'll keep watching and if it bothers me enough maybe I'll try one myself.

Only restore re-partitons. If you want to ensure it's done, you can use a complete ics tar, along with the proper pit file, and check the option in pc odin.
