I will try to be brief here
I already searched for my answers but i couldn't find all of the answers and some i found, were outdated.
I Bought my MW600 and it arrived yesterday, and i already own a Xperia Arc that i upgraded to 2.3.4 Global Firmware.
1 - I already "paired" it with my Xperia Arc and with my dell xps notebook. Is it possible to,answer phonecalls on it while it is "listening" to notebooks bluetooth ? Is there any sort of "multi-pairing" way to set this device to "listen" to more than one device requests ?
2 - Is there any way that i can make my sound track names to appear ? I've read that it is a limitation of the android bluetooth system, is it true ? I can't see any track id when i play musics, just a blank space.
3 - Same above, but for contact names. Still androids limitation ?
4 - Flashing CM could fix it somehow ? (i´ve also read it,but since no one confirmed...).
5 - When listening to radio,i´ve seen in videos that the music name appears in the screen. Well, here in brasil, it seems not to work. Any idea of why ?
6 - The sound quality when listening to music thats playing on my notebook is very low. Is there any way to increase it ? (Windows 7 ) How?
7 - Most important question. How to use the damn Phones correctly cliping it to my cloth,as a man. All S.E videos of MW600, it is cliped to hot woman dresses or something like that. But since i am not a woman, i can't clip it to my shirts, without looking like an idiot with a microfone glued to my neck tangled with the earphones wires around my neck.
Please, upload a photo of how you look when using it,so i can't stop laughing at myself! hahaha
Thanks !

1, hold the call button and connect it to your phone, and hold the play button to connect it to your laptop. when you get a call it stops playing from your laptop.

if you flash to a CyanogenMod (CM) firmware, it will allow track names to appear on the mw600's display. stock gingerbread still doesn't support it but i hope this gets enabled in ICS.

unlike track names, it seems contact names don't show on CM firmware. it only shows the phone number during incoming calls (if caller ID is available) and shows an arrow on the screen during outgoing calls.

it's a feature called RDS if i recall correctly. the station that you're listening to has to feature it as well. here in Canada, almost all stations feature RDS.

right-click on the volume icon in the system tray, and click on playback devices. then right-click on the bluetooth playback device, and click on Properties. check the enhancements tab to see if there is a Loudness feature. this might just be a feature available for speakers/headphones directly connected to the headphone jack. i've never seen it available for a bluetooth device.

unless i'm wearing a polo with a chest pocket, i use my other set of earphones with a longer cord where I have the cord running inside my shirt with the mw600 in my pant's pocket. sometimes i clip it on the belt loop of my jeans or on my rear pocket for easy access to the buttons depending if i'm walking, sitting, etc.

I have posted this at the sony ericsson site but got no reasonable replies.
I have P3600, WM6, ROm 3.00.707.17. i paired it with my SE Bluetooth headset. when i play music, it skips every 20-30 seconds, and then after 10-15 min play time, it skips even more.
i repaired it several times but still same problem. anyone has problem playing music via BT and/or with this particular SE headset.

thanks! i just installed A2DPfix, yet it still skips.
NO more skipping after 20 min of play. YAY!
hi again,
after i installed A2DPFix a month ago, my music has been playing without much skipping until recently. i do not know what changed, but it skips 3-4 times in the beginning of each song. it's sporadic, sometime it skips and sometime it does not.
i have been reading more about A2DPFix.cab here, some people claims it works while others not 100%.
then someone suggested to use pocket player 3.5 and other music player. i am currently trying this new S2P music player
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-s2p.html
this seems to work without skipping except i can not pause, forward and backward using my BT remote headset with this music player. also, i my BT remote does not work with pocket player 3.5.
i am using a SE HBH-DS970, can someone explain to me why the remote for this BT headset only works with window media player and not other music players.
it would be great if i can someone make the remote works with the new S2P player because it DOES NOT skip and it's free.
thanks!!

you are correct, once in a while when i either restart my mobile phone or headset, still it's a pain and frustrating.
i would really like to know why the SE headset functions (pause, next song, previous song...etc) doe not work with other music players.
i saw the HTC audio manager player and i wonder if this will work with my SE headset?
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-audio-manager-v1-2-515-718.html
would someone please shed some light here as to why my SE headset only works with window media player that comes with the phone (HTC P3600)
Use the HTC AudioManager its easy to handle. WM give me and to the most other
the Database/playlist error.
The buttons works fine with them. I Use only this.
Heard that mortplayer (or similar) works too.
Greets
Pair the device with the phone from the phone, and not let the headset connect automaticly.
In other words:
1: Turn OFF bluetooth on the phone
2: Turn ON headset
3: Wait for a few sec
4: turn ON bluetooth on phone
5: Press and hold on the headset name in the device-list and choose connect or whatever it's called
Now you shouldn't have skipping. (Untill next time...) - Or change rom.

i did what you suggested,
1. turn off bluetooth on the phone
2. turn on headset,
3. wait a few sec
4. turn on bluetooth on the phone
5. press and hold on my headset and choose connect? press and hold does not seem to give me that the "connect" option
anyway, i do 1, 2, 3, 4 and then for
5. i press my headset which connects to my phone
i connect three separate times and it has not been skipping every time.
i guess i am very curious as to why this particular sequence makes a different. any one knows at all????
Hehe! If you search bit, and find threads I've been involved in, you'll se a solution for this problem that I posted out for a long ago... Don't ask me how I managed to debug this, but god damned I was proud Hehe!
But why it works, I don't know Hehe! I guess there is some sort of buffer-error going on when connecting the normal way

Additional reason
From my experience, I did have this same problem as you guys, but I found another thing that really caused the music playback to skip.
Over here, I've actually purchased a counterfeit Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970. I had bought the counterfeit first, and Sony gave me an original for free.
I found that the copy (fake, but in every way looks like the original, except it feels a bit flimsy) tends to skip. I obviously didn't know it was a fake, and I had taken it to Sony to get it fixed. Sony took one look at it and gave me coffee and asked for details of the dealer who sold this counterfeit. Then, Sony gave me a free original set, just for my help.
Based on my use of both sets, I can safely say that the counterfeit skips, the original doesn't. Wish somebody can explain to me why this happens.

Well, I think what you mean is that the counterfeit skips on your device with your rom, while the original does not skip on your device with your rom
(Since the original one skips as much as a counterfeit one on other trinity-devices
This skipping is most likely caused' by some sort of buffer settings - which seem to be individual from devicetype to devicetype.
Sorry if I make some mistakes...
I've the same problem with my BT Plantronics...
It depends only from the ROM
I haven't any problems with WM5, but some coocked WM6 have this problem, now I am with this and everything works fine...

So folks,
today the sony ericsson live view arrived. It´s quite cheap in germany (42 euro).
The package contains:
Live View
Wrist strap
Clip
Charger (mini USB, also loads the phone it you want to!)
Manuals
So the device is really smal and does what it promises.
I read some bad reviews at amazon.de, but until now it does not seem to be as bad. The connection between the phone and the live view broke up when it was about 3 meters, so that´s OK so far (could be better).
Reading SMS or the other stuff works.
Sportypal Pro does not work. (that´s one of two released apps that have live view support)
Instalation is easy, no problems there.
The clip has broken down after trying to release the live view for the second time.
Can´t say anything about battery life time until now.
But... I would say, thinking about future plugins for 3rd party apps, this litte device can be something really relly cool. I mean, if you have for example a OSM navigation app, that has live view support, you can easily fix that wrist strap on to the handlebar of your bike... and so on...
It also works as a remote for the music player (can be interesting on skies).
But now a little question. What musicplayer is that (pic) ... This musicplayer has to be installed at the phone natively, but i have no link to open it...
Best regards
(sorry for that really bad english, but it´s very late, the day was very long)
I would love to hear more about your live view as time goes on. I see great potentials in this little gizmo. Question; can you pair live view and a bluetooth [email protected] same time?
Also that native music app is available through creating custom shortcut with adw or launcherpro. There's prolly a thread with shortcut apk file somewhere in this forum. Good luck!
Free X10!
just got Live View this morning - actually, not for me, for my wife as she's got an X10. But since she's on T-mobile and they haven't issued their 2.1 update yet, we couldn't try it out on that device but did manage to do so on my HTC Desire.
First impressions of the box/presentations were pretty shoddy. For some reason here in the UK we were issued a 2-pin European plug (suggesting that etraders got their first batch from abroad) rather than a 3-pin one. Lucky I had an adapter at home. And it wasn't even in the box, it was just shoved in a bag in the mail package.
The accessories with the device are very plasticky. You get a wrist strap, a clip (to attach to pockets, bag handles etc) and a watch housing so you can attach it to the wrist strap. Actually getting the damn wrist strap/watch housing connected was very fiddly, took us about 20 minutes of messing around with little metal pins they supply to get it right. Again, why they couldn't have done this themselves is a mystery and making the customer do it is just frustrating.
First impressions of the device itself are decent, the calling/message notifications work well, the screen is large enough that you can read full text messages and you have the option to mute/reject calls when they come in.
Couple of annoying things: it does seem to lose its pairing fairly easily, maybe it's because we're using the Desire at the moment and not the X10 but I'm not sure. Also, the notification light (e.g. it flashes green if there is a message) doesn't last very long, just a few seconds, it would make more sense if it kept on flashing until you viewed the message.
Oh, one more annoying thing. If you lose the pairing, the watch can't show the time since it takes the time from the phone. My wife wouldn't mind using this as a watch as well, but she would need to have the phone with her all the time and paired up if that was the case. Again, not terribly practical.
there is potential though, the idea of plug-ins is a good one and hopefully there will be a lot of these to expand the functionality of the device.
Will write more once my wife's phone gets the update and is connected.

Couldn't try it with the MW600, but was able to test it with another stereo headset, the HB205 (Sony Ericsson). Worked fine no problem, tried calling the phone and the headphones stopped the music and rang the tone while the Liveview displayed the name/number and vibrated. I would imagine it would be the same for other bluetooth headsets.

Just to clarify, The liveview doesn't lose the time if it disconnects, it loses the time if you then turn it off completely (therefore resetting it).
In fact last night I went to find it to charge it as I only wear it at work, and I pressed the button and it was saying 1.06 am, and i hadn't even had my bluetooth on let alone had the thing near my phone.
Same thing with some of the connection issues, sometimes it goes wrong completely, but depending on what you do in certain situations, you can reconnect quickly.
The problem is SE haven't spelt these out, even pairing the thing in the first place was a nightmare, I had it for 48 mins and couldn't even use it, as i didn't know all the delicate things about it when things don't work. Couldn't really give this to someone as a gift as a casual user, may effect sales until they get the app working better. But I am okay with it now and its doing what I need it to do, and lasting the day.

It seems to me the native Android media player, can someone confirm? The odd thing is that I haven't found a way to start this media player stand alone...
I'm actually disappointed that the supported media player isn't Mediascape, so I can't start music from phone and then switch to Liveview!
Can confirm that supported music player is Android native player, which is a real bummer as I use mediascape for all my music. To activate, simply depress right button on liveview for 2-3 seconds.
I bought one today at a Telenor shop in Stockholm. It cost me 567SEK (60 EUROS) and I would recommend no one pays more than that for a LiveView in Sweden.
I agree with all the previous reviews. It does what it says on the tin ! But it is not ready yet to gift to your girlfriend for Christmas... The strap and holder are cheap plastic and I managed to bend one of the mounting pins whilst carefully trying to put it all together, if they had assembled the watchstrap before-hand it would have saved alot of problems. The instruction manual gave no direction on this at all ! If anything, the single diagram of the watchstrap was misleading.
The LiveView is smaller than expected, if anything it is too small and I wouldn't have complained if it was a little larger and 'styled' somewhat. It's the sort of thing that (and I hope SE have registered patents !!!) SonyEricsson could sell the LiveView module to a proper watch manufacturer like Seiko who could make something more stylish out of it. As it is, it is a small, square bit of plastic which performs some functions but is clearly capable of much more.
This is one of those things that you think is a good idea, but far too early for release. I can promise you that you will all be wearing a 'LiveView' type device in five years time.... But the current version is really still on the geek/hacker level.
But I do hope this does result in some interesting apps in the next few months.
My current, major technical concern with LiveView is that if it is more than 2 metres away from my X10 then it loses connection. My Bluetooth headset can easily manage 5 metres and so should LiveView. But it does manage to automatically reconnect to my X10 when in range, but it leaves the "Find my phone" application pretty useless.

so whats the definitive answer on the mw600 connected at the same time as liveview ?! can both be used at the same time ?!
can u listen to music whilst reading texts emails etc !? ...ie both devices connected at the same time without disconnection (i can cope with the calls being halted or an odd stall when i get a text but if both cannot be used at the same time then it defeats the object of having wireless devices with the bluetooth headphones and the liveview to control it!
I can confirm that LiveView and Mw600 can work together, at the same time with no problem !

Cheers to you both for answering a question I've been trying in vain to get SonyEricsson Support (useless) to answer for me.
Has anybody tried and got the Sony Ericsson MW600 to work? I can listen to music and it is seen as a music headset but no calls? it will not connect as a hands-free phone-kit?
I tried to shuffle through all the blue-tooth and connections settings but I can not find any solution?
Any help is very appreciated.

Hello Robert_it.
I've bought it today before seeing your post.
It works as bluettoth headset with calls. As i can remember it shows two devices when you search for bluetooth.I choose the second and it works ok.The problem is how to set bluetooth on phone to be always on .
Hi nsourm,
Thanks for your reply.
This is my second SE Bluetooth I also had the prevoius non-OLED one and loved it.
I have paired up the audio with 2 phones and my Laptop and started up by pairing the second phone..
What I did not know is that you shuffle the Phone and the audio seperatly as I was not using the first on with 2 phones. So it was all down to finger trouble
To activate what audio you want long-hold the "play/pause" button and select (I knew that one) to shuffle the Phone, long-hold the "talk" button to select the phone you want.
This way you can hear music from any of the 3 devices and connect to any of the 2 phone's separately
I did just asume that I was connected to both phones at the same time??
Not a big problem, I still love this little player
The conclusion must be, as in most cases, if in doubt..... READ THE MANUAL!!!

As far as I know this is a well known compatibility problem between Android and these headsets and I heard both the problems you describe are fixable. Have not found the time to google this yet though... if I find something I'll let you know.
Nevertheless this is a great headset with virtually no weaknesses other than its lack of water resistance.

Nevertheless this is a great headset with virtually no weaknesses other than its lack of water resistance.

Couldn't find any fix for this issue.
But you're right, its a great headset ^^.
@joyo22
It does all of that, plus you have a fm radio. You can also fast forward or rewind.
Great buy.

It is an excellent accessory and works perfect with Atrix, I have it and do everything
1. identifies the incoming call
2. The FM radio works perfect
3. open and change the songs on the cell
4. autonomy is very good load
5. sound quality is good
6. the charger is the same cell so stay with 2 chargers.
Among others it is a good buy I recommend it
Can anyone suggest a BT headset that gives good sound quality and noise reduction?
I have a Blueant Q2 and it's a PoS. It doesn't tell me who's calling, for a start; and because it's so 'clever', if I want to call someone I have to say "Phone commands", wait a bit, then say "Call person". So an extra step for no reason.
I am looking for one that I can press the button and it'll start up Voice Dial (or whatever it's called). All the name recognition etc can be done by the phone, thanks very much.
Does the Jawbone require this extra step/awkward faffing about?
Any others?
Thanks.
I am using Sonyericsson MW600 with my phone, it works great with music anyway. The song title show's on the display... I presume that the contact name will show on the display as well.
Havent made a phone call with it yet so that part I cant tell but I guess it work great there too.

Stock ROM probably won't do it (may need CM7) and even it if does, the stock music player is about the only one that passes the track info to the device.

Proud MIUI user here, isn't working on stock music player nor on PlayerPro, but it doesn't matter that much for me to switch ROM.
Thanks for the reply, though.
I am using also my MW600 and it works brilliant.
Shows track info, also caller ID, by pushing the call button, voice control is opening.

I was looking for one for just voice.
For stereo audio I have the Plantronics 903+ and they're brilliant.
i heard that samsung bluetooth HS 3000, with Noise Reduction, dual active pairing, Stereo seems feasible, anyone tried?

Plantronics Voyager 855 is a combination of a standard-looking BT earpiece with a second earpiece unit that plugs into the first via a thin nylon reinforced cable to create stereo BT headset. I have owned at least 30 or 35 BT headsets and this is the best one I've had for sound quality, ease of pairing, long battery life, etc. Try Amazon: w w w .amazon.com/gp/product/B000UBNFT2/ref=oh_o03_s00_i01_details

I get the song title from stock music app only... don't get it from any other app that I have tried.
Sorry for late reply... didnt this until now!
Hey guys hows it going?
I just purchased one of the new smart bluetooth headsets from Sony which is the SBH50 model and I received it yesterday. Been using it for a day now. Just here to give you a review.
Now first I wasnt sure if it would work the way I assumed originally or if any of the features were compatible with the Xperia S. But bought it anyway as I mainly need it for calls.
As soon as I took it out of the box I immediately touched the headset to the back of my phone and boom. It was connected immediately. Received a notification to download the companion app. Downloaded and thats it. I was soon enough set up ready to go. So simple.
Sound quality is awesome for calls and music. Even the FM radio. The signal for the radio is also good. Unlike on the mw600 where the radio would cut out because the signal was weak.
When you receive a phone call the number pops up on screen with the name, compared to mw600 would be just the number. The notification for text to speech I still havent tested properly however so far seems to be working. I also havent checked the messaging notifications yet however I have seen the email and gmail notifications.pop up on screen.
The multipoint feature is excellent. You can select one device as a primary device and still receive notifcations from both devices and listen to music from the other.
The battery life is also amazing. Switched it on at 7 am and its still on id say about 75%. Most of thr battery has been consumed by me listening to the fm radio this morning.
Oh and there is an option to view your call log on the device too which is quite nice, especially if you want to ring back a number in the call list.
Build quality is very good I found. Feels slightly plasticy but good quality. Not the cheap plastic feel.
Theres a lot more which can be covered and I will add to this review the more I get to know the device and its features.

Got mine as well few days ago. Lost mw600. Not sure what Sony is thinking with 'smart' range as it regresses, since any bluetooth ever, had double click to redial and long press to voice dial. These, including mw1 are missing those functions. Also in comparison with mw600 now we need app to display contacts (sure not it shows names as well), but permanent ongoing notification in status bar and notifications kills this softaware for me.
As long as it does not allow me to change button options and setup, this smart bluetooth is not gonna be 'simply smart' for the foreseeable future. Opening api for Devs might help.
Also don't understand why bluetooth with basically same features, sans NFC, as mw600, is 30 percent larger in volume, while offering same talk/music times as it.
Rant over!
Basically, only reason I'm keeping it is because of possibility of firmware updates (if mw600 had this it wouldn't be obsolete yet and would buy again. Than again that company does not exist anymore) , making it somewhat future proof. This only applies if Sony keeps their end of the bargain.

I got one of these in the mail this week for my Xperia Z.
I was after a bluetooth unit with a 3.5mm output so i could hook it up to my Logitech Z2300 and control the music from my phone. Works well, only the bluetooth range is up to approx 15m line of sight. It'll do for my home entertaining.
I havent tried yet, but if i can connect my pc to it via BT as well i can play the songs off there too.
I dont really see the need for NFC since pairing with BT is simple enough.
Firmware can be updated on it via SUS.
The instruction manual included doesnt have any operating instructions. Im not 100% sure what the icons in the menu means.
Its very light if youre gonna clip it to your clothing, but to handle it is a little tricky cos it is too light.
Ive seen the Pro version of this, with usb on the end of it, so it can be used as standalone mp3 player. Wish i had seen that earlier.
The only thing I cant get it to do is connect to skype on my nexus 7 1st gen or on my xperia s

Well, I am somewhat happy with the SBH50 - I only had the MW600 for a short while before sending it back because of the volume controls.
However, it's terrible that you cannot launch voice dial with the big button (what does it anyway?) and the music controls will launch the standard music app if you hadn't launched a different one on the phone before...
I'm praying that this will become better.
My first one after a few weeks died. Wouldn't switch on at all thankfully Amazon replaced it for me.

Can anyone confirm the battery life of sbh50 when you only listen to fm radio, with no device connected? how long is it? because I need at least 10h of fm radio at work

My MW600 stopped working (showing that its charging but not turning on) after a few months so I'm scared to buy another type from Sony. Anyone else ran into problems with the unit not turning on or are you all recommending it?

Personally I'd recommend it. I mean I have had no problems since I got my replacement and the battery life on it is awesome. For me anyway. I was going to purchase the sbh52 but I wasn't too sure about it

I'm just looking for a replacement for my MW600 (first one got lost, second one got the clip broken and the last one all of a sudden died for no obvious reason ).
Now I already kind of decided to go for the SBH50 but coming across this thread I don't feel so confident any longer..

Just to get this right- once you've started another app the buttons will control the playback of this particular app or start the default player instead?? (Which would be horrible since I'm exclusively using Spotify)
And something else which got me confused after having read too many reviews: Does the display turn off while listening/having calls? (The MW600 did and I would prefer it this way.)
And a last question especially for the previous MW600 users: Is the SBH50 comfortable to wear? From the pictures the clip doesn't really look secure to be attached compared with the old model..

Hi there. Yes the display turns off after a few seconds in a call, listening to music or when you stop pressing the buttons.
The clip is comfortable to wear however you will either need to clip it on to the neckline/collar of any top or anywhere along the zip line. You can't just clip it anywhere.
