Ok Ive had the Droid Razr since its release date. 2 days ago i purchased a GNex. I liked the razr and the build of it but i am a flash maniac and there isnt any developement really on the razr. I love the nexus interface and ICS. However reception and sound is much better on the razr. My issue is i need to sell one or the other and quite fast. I need to know from people who have had both or the nexus for a long period which device to stick with. Its a hard decision not having more then a few days with the Gnex. PLEASE HELP !
Personally i would go with the GN. A friend of mine has it and ill be buying one shortly replacing my Bionic
I have both, and came to a very simple conclusion: If you want a great phone (and more), then keep the razr. If you want a toy, stay with the gnex.
RAZR ROCKS!
I'd go with the GN, mostly because of two things: the screen on the Razr is (supposedly) inferior and the GN will have support from both devs and google for a LONG time. I'm thinking the Razr's gonna die out in about 6 months.
tsunami1609 has hit it on the head... I would choose the GNex because of the screen, the fact that it is a Nexus and also the fact that no buttons on the front (fixed ones...) means an additional aspect of the phone can be customised by using ROMs, etc.
Had mine for about a month now, and really enjoying it.
Please don't think I am being flippant. This is just my humble opinion.
It sounds like to me you really like the RAZR but somehow want some of us on here to try and talk you into keeping the Galaxy Nexus. If that is not the case then I apologize.
Take my advice. Keep the Razr and turn the nexus back in. You will be much happier in the long run and the time you would have wasted reading all of the Nexus forums trying to figure out if it has this or that for you (hundreds of posts), you could be just enjoying your Razr phone and moving on with your life.
Why torture yourself with second thoughts?
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and life is too short.
I really thought the razr was great too in the store, but i decided on the Nexus and have spent the weeks I have had it investing in this one phone, not going on Razr forums trying to convince myself that I may have not bought the perfect item.
/rant off
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Asking this in the gnex section expect everyone to say gnex ask in razr section expect everyone to say razr in the end all comes down to you

I find that when it comes to motorola, you have a better PHONE. As in reception wise and speaker/call quality. You wont be able to flash anything on the razr but it all depends on what you intend on doing with the phone. If you are a "flash maniac" though, you should choose the GN. I think the main question for you is: which is more important to you, flashing your phone or using it as a tool for what it is which is a phone.
For me, I chose the nexus mainly because I wanted direct updates from google, a longer lasting phone (support wise), an easily customizable phone, and because of the looks of it. I love how the front is completely black without any logos. Oh and the beautiful large screen as well.

Well the RAZR is supposed to get an ICS update. Why not just keep that phone and wait patiently for the update? The sound/reception quality is probably tied to hardware, not software and if the only bonus to the GN is the software then just wait until it comes to the RAZR.
You sound like you don't mind using 2.3. I personally couldn't go back, ICS is just better for me. I also think the screen is way, way better on the GN and dedicated software buttons on Android phones just looks really dated. I'm also against Moto's new design brand language.

actully im a huge fan of the nexus love the screen and ui and dont want to return to the nexus. im only inquiring due to the fact of negative reviews on call quality and my own experience with other people not hearing me after a few minutes. reviews are always crap. i just wanted opions of people who are actually using the phone day in and day out.
Yes the Razr will get ics. But will it get Jellybean and whatever else Google updates to? I doubt it and we will be first or second in line for it.

Go with the Razr
As everyone else says it depends on how you plan to use the device. Aside from its beautiful screen and possible future updates beyond ICS the GN didn't impress me. I had one for a very short time and was disappointed by the things that I expect a high priced Android device to be good at: call quality, call quality, call quality... In addition, I had so many problems with the GN dropping calls, rebooting randomly, the back case not staying on....
After I traded it in for the Razr my wife immediatly noticed the difference in how I sounded over the phone. In the areas where my GN failed, I got consistent reception with the Razr.
After all, bells and whistles are nice, but the biggest reason to have a cell phone is internet access and to talk to people. I assure you that the call and 4G access issues that I had with the GN were not software related, it was hardware -- Moto is the leader when it comes to these. My thinking is, if I am going to be stuck with a device for the next two years, it had better last. It doesn't have to be the best in everything (the GN has a better screen, Razr's screen is still excellent) but it does have to be the best in call quality and 4G access. Aside from the screen, the Razr is a superior piece of hardware.
As far as ICS is concerned, stick with the Razr it will be getting it soon.
Personally I saw the razor and yes it's a nice looking phone but the screen is inferior, no ics (for now) no removable battery, and maybe doesn't even have nfc (correct me if I'm wrong). I would go for the Gnex without a blink! Oh that's exactly what I did ;-)

I forgot to mention Google will acquire Motorola
I would get the Razr not only because it has a better build quality than the GN but also because it is about to become a direct descended of Google's product line: unlike the GN/Samsung -- Google is in the process of acquiring Moto.
If you don't believe me, read the news:
Google-Motorola deal update
By T.C. Sotteck | The Verge, Published: January 19
Reuters reported today that the European Commission has set a February 13th deadline to decide whether or not to approve Google's buyout of Motorola Mobility. The commission put the acquisition on hold back in December to get more information. Google said in December that the request for more information was "routine" and still expected the acquisition to close in 2012, and it looks like it's on track to do just that. Motorola shareholders have already given their approval, and we're still waiting to see precisely what Google wants out of the deal.
Buy the Razr...
I've only played with the RAZR at the store and have never owned one. I did however just come from a stratosphere and being big on flashing roms myself I constantly found myself checking the forums for a any kind of development. The stratosphere like the RAZR has little to no development going on. I for one am very happy with my lte nexus and have never had a drop call or problems with my data. I really think this is going to be the phone that I'll have for a long time unlike the past 5 devices I've had in less than a year.

hey guys i just want some opinions. i have the chance to trade my inc+ $200 for my friends bionic. the screen is so nice and its super fast. however a total of about 5 roms for the bionic?? idk if i can deal with that. as long as it gets a stable cm7 soon i might do it. but the development here is simply AMAZING!
so would you guys do it or not?
Do you have any upgrades anytime soon? If so, then certainly not. Much better phones coming out soon and you will probably be able to come up on some decent phones at a good price if you hold out for a bit.
Umm I believe not tell April

I would wait. Keep your Inc and save your $200. By the time April rolls around you'll be able to get the Rezound, RAZR, or GNex for $200 or less. By then all 3 will have good development in place. All three are vastly superior to the Bionic.
The Bionic is already passed its prime and the Inc will be a classic forever. Hold onto it.

Agreed. I think that you will be kicking yourself in the butt in one week after the swap.
Two words.....HELL NO. I personally have no love for Motorola. Especially as I sit here and wait for my wife's 3rd D2 to arrive in the mail. The first one had a slight "pressure crack" in the screen within the first 2 weeks she had it. That was a fight with VZW to replace it. I believe it was a manufacturers defect but they claimed damage. Took a while, but they replaced it. This last one totally crashed on it's own. D2.37 boat loader screen came up out of the blue. Phone was never rooted or played around with. So long story short, I don't trust Motorola phones. I've never had an issue with ANY other phone besides Motorola in the last 15 years of me using a cell phone.
I don't believe there is a better phone out there for development than the Dinc that isn't named a Nexus. I love ALL the Roms/Kernel options for this phone. Even if you like Motorola, the Razr will be out in a week, and within the next 6 months, only better things will be coming along. I've been tempted myself to use an upgrade a few different times, but in the end, I don't think there is a phone out there that is leaps and bounds better than the Dinc when you consider all factors. As far as specs, I like the 3.7" screen over the 4.3 and larger. 1ghz processor is FAR from outdated and is just fine speed wise, and the development community is top notch and still working hard for us all. The only thing truly missing is a front facing camera.
To be honest, the day I give up my Dinc I will be sad. For one thing, I have come to love the trackpad. I thought it was very useless when I first got the phone, but over the last 18 months, I've found there are many times in emails/texts that my fixing a typing mistake is not an exact placement when touching the screen to move the curser where you want it. The trackpad is invaluable to placing the curser where I need it. It's seems like a small detail, but it saves me a LOT of frustration.
I also don't feel like the bionic is that great of a phone when compared to the Nexus/Razr/Rezound that are all about to come out. I would wait.
Thanks for the huge write up haha. Yeah I love all the options. I may end up waiting for the galaxy nexus

I agree with you and everyone else about the Bionic in comparison to the newer phones arriving now. From what I've noticed though, the Evo 4G development scene flat out triples ours based on numbers haha
I'm beyond ready to upgrade my OG Droid, which has served me well for two whole years, and I'm wondering if you all would still recommend it now, in late November 2011. In a world of Rezounds, Razrs, Bionics, and eventually Galaxy Nexus's (Nexi?) will I end up feeling like I'm already out of date if I buy a Dinc2?
I see that people on this and other forums really like the DI2. And I see that I can have root, and a fun selection of ROM's to play with, like I'm used to with my OG Droid. I think I'd miss all of that with one of the newer phones, at least until all of that gets worked out. And of course, you can buy the Incredible 2 for next to nothing, while the "hot" phones are close to $300, even with an upgrade. I don't have 4G where I live out in the stix, and probably won't for a while, probably not until after my next upgrade.
Your thoughts?
In your case absolutely
Tap'n on miui incredible 2
I recommend you get a Inc2 locally and hold on to your upgrade. I got mine for 150 a couple months ago.

FREAKIN' GO FOR IT!!!! IT'S THE BEST PHONE EVER!!!! lol
Well my og Droid was a good phone but I got the dinc2 toward the end of Sept and its so sweet. Its easy to get root and custom rom going. In fact I choose this phone mainly because miui had recently been ported to it. Its super smooth and really don't even need over clocking.
I've learned a lot about android since I got my inc2 as a replacement for my og inc and I wouldn't trade that
Lol, I was in the exact same situation. Coming from an OG Droid, and not really knowing what to wait for. I don't have 4g at my house either and that was pretty much the decision maker. I didn't feel like paying for something I couldn't use. Plus I wanted a 4" screen. Its the perfect screen size. I bought my wife a Droid X and myself the DINC2. Had it for about a month now, and I'm loving it. One thing though, I don't care for how the back comes off. It basically splits the phone in half... And feels kinda cheap. Also I bought a otter box commuter case but it felt too slippery, so I got a body glove case too lol. This case made the phone perfect.

There's not a single phone currently available or soon to be available that I'd take over the Inc2. You can keep your dual cores, NFC chips, 4.3+ inch screens, etc. To me, the Inc2 is the perfect combination of form factor, features and performance.
I agree with above. The only reason I would dump this phone is if I left Verizon and got my hands on a euro GS2 or Nexus. This phone leaves nothing to be desired.
I will say though that it looks outclassed on Verizon shelves lately. I still think it is the best and totally underrated.
[Sent from my INC2]
Came from the HTC Eris, loving the DI2 & got mine free - could've gone with a bigger 4.3" device running 4G, except I get poor 3G coverage at the house while the zip code is 4G, if I walk 4 blocks west, I get a 5x faster coverage and enhanced signal coverage.
By the time my line is ready for an upgrade in 2013, I'm sure there will be plenty of 4G global device with better battery standby & the bugs will be ironed out beyond Ice Cream Sandwich, etc. Otherwise, this has more than enough reserve power as an advanced mobile phone plus a few, extra functions on the go - I have no intentions of wishing for a HDMI hookup to watch Hulu Plus, etc. on big screen HDTV & then ***** about poor Dolby DSP tuning.
Planning to surprise DW with one (DI2 in white or maybe red ??) for the holiday even though she barely manage to remember how to use her feature phone. There are virtually no FRU or pre-owned units available on VZW's site (except for warranty exchanges ....) which is another good indicator of how solid it is.
+1 however, on the battery cover - although with 2 days of standby time, unlike my buddies bragging about their TBolts, I don't worry about pulling, switching to a spare & charging battery every few hours - or, spend $$ for the brick (bulky extended battery & cover + oversized case/cover)
Thanks!
Thanks to all who replied. I'm leaning towards getting this phone. I do want to get into the store and see a Rezound in person, take a look at that 1280x720 screen.
I have had the HTC D Eris, HTc INC1, and now INC2.
I can't say that the Rezound is that great of a phone..
I know the Inc2 is almost a year old, in April? i think..?
but it's a great phone, I love root, and it seems you do too, and this phone has a great variety of ROMs and some incredible Devs.
will the rezound eventually be what the inc2 is, yes.
I remeber when inc2 had no root, and ppl thought it would never come with software.
it's ult. up to you.
I would sell the inc1 and buy a second hand inc2, then get the rezound, but hey thats me
Well, I pulled the trigger on a new DI2. Got it for free on Black Friday at Target of all places. Was walking through, not really thinking about or looking at phones, but happened to see the sign for some of the phones they were offering for free on Friday only.
And so far, I love it! It seems real fast, apps pop up almost instantly, nothing ever bogs down or lags in any way. I'm sticking with the stock ROM for now, no real complaints with it. But we'll see how long before I get the itch to start messing around and load up a different ROM. Maybe I can hold out for CM9, or another ICS ROM.
I own the Inc2 and I haven't yet seen a phone worth upgrading too. Every other phone has something I don't like and I'm hoping we see some all metal, super thin, dual-core phones early next year. Like many DINC2 owners I bought mine because this past summer because I couldn't wait any longer for a dual-core phone. Now that they are out, there are other quips, like the nexus missing a few features and the razr's uncomfortable design.
If you can't wait any longer, I would get the droid incredible 2, rhyme, or resound. Just be forewarned that they each have their small faults. I would recommend waiting a few more months to see what kind of ice cream sandwich goodness is released.

Well, I would personally recommend the rezound as it is a dual core with beats (for those that care. I personally don't) and will be getting ICS in the upcoming months. It will also have the latest sense when ICS comes out for it, and I'm excited to see what kind of spin HTC will put on that bad boy.

Love the Dinc2, and would have a hard time giving it up at the moment, but.... The Rezound would be hard to pass up. That would be the only other phone I would consider at this time (not even interested in the Galaxy Nexus, sorry no love for Samsung from me lol). If I had 4g, I would be very tempted to make the switch, but I doubt that 4g will be in my neighborhood anytime soon, so the Dinc2 is safe in my home
dinc 2
Go for it, it is an awesome phone. The dinc 2 is one of a few DLNA capable devices on the market and in the future that will be a big deal. The dinc was my first android phone and it was good but the dinc 2 is better. I looked at the rezound and the razr and while good phones I could not justify the $300 tag when I was able to get the dinc 2 for free. Check out my post abot the dinc 2 from yesterday on the tv out thread.

Swore I would NEVER Do A Droid.
I got my DIncI $Free Back in March since my LG Fathom was giving me issues.
Got assimilated.
Dark DIncII arrived in Sept.
$50USD and was rooted the weekend BEFORE the hboot.98.
Loved it so much that Reda DIncII was a Black Friday deal. $Free.
Now my next upgrade for familly plan will be in Jan.
The rep I spoke with told me that the Rezound uses MOST of that GIG of RAM for the Beat to even TRY to make it sound any good.
The amount of people that are sending back whole unit for because of issues with the overpriced earbuds.
Yea, it's a wonder that this unit isn't pulled already and sold as CPO.
Either way VZW just wrights it off as a loss and keeps trying to hump the AppHole.
I thought that "Denial of Access to User Up Gradable Storage" was an AppHole copyright.
Now Willy PHone 7 thinks it's a way to sell more PHones with different storage capacity.
What a bunch of crap....

Any how back near topic:
Yea I think I might just get another DIncII maybe the White one.
Enjoy....
Time to retire my incredible and need to know which is the favored replacement. I heard the new nexus has connection problems so that's out. Kind of pushes me towards the HTC rezound, moto razor, or moto bionic(if really discounted). Anyways what are people's opinions on the new phones, which ones are most likely to be rooted and developed for etc.
Huh, read an article that basically made it sound like the nexus connection complaints might be BS.
Nexus connection problem is only for the GSM version I believe
-My life is a shooting range, people never change-
I upgraded from the Incredible to the Galaxy Nexus and I love it. Have not had any problems with it. The battery drain is really proportional to how much you use it, and since I still have unlimited data I take great joy in downloading a lot on LTE.

I'm in the same boat. I ventured out to my local Verizon store to look at both Resound (they should have stuck with vigor) and Gnex. The resound looks so much like my Dinc, that no one would even notice that I got a new phone (not that it's important) but the Gnex is sweet. I made up my mind immediately. Now my only decision is to wait for quad core (Edge) or get Gnex now.

If your in love with flashing roms and such on the Inc then I would say go with the Nexus. As far as the connections problems, all the problems I had were solved by the leaked radios that came out last week.
If your not in love with flashing roms and such on the inc then I would say to go with the Rezound. My cousin just got it and I gotta say all in all its a good litte (kinda chunky) reliable phone.
As far as the Razr, I don't even wanna talk about it, I am in the process of finding a matching checksum apk that my buddy deleted on his Razr because the Motorola OTA will not update his phone unless the /system/ files are perfect. And no it is not as simple as copy and pasting a random system dump because not all Razrs came with the same signatures or something. Anywho, if you like root then go with the Galaxy Nexus. If you don't then you have two choices: the Rezound or Razr.
Sorry for the last rant, hope this helps...
Switch to Sprint and get an Epic 4G Touch with unlimited data and cheaper plans.
It has microsd, better battery life and what most consider a better processor. The screen res isnt HD (which eats more battery) but the screen still looks amazing in my opinion.

Oh well, in that case, no.
My wife loves hers.
That said there is always remorse in buying a 5 month old device. It is a dinosaur in tech terms; even if the software is cutting edge.
I would say take it back and get the phone you want.
The GN is a great device. The developer support is great if you wish to try all kinds of amazing ROMS. But even if you don't, the GN is a great stock. I love not having to hack my device to remove all the bloat. Just stock ICS. But as someone else said, its about 5 months old. Something to remember. Devices will always come out. But I am not sure if I would buy it today. Not with the HTC One X out (import). And the Galaxy S 3 is more than likely going to be a device worth upgrading for. In short, its up to you.

I for one came from the MyTouch 4G slide, and couldn't he happier.
The developer support on that phone is pretty much dead, and I actually got used to have no physical keyboard really fast.
This phone is fast, gorgeous, and its so relieving not having to worry about crap like Sense, or Blur from my previous phone the Motorola Cliq.
Sense 4.0 looks nice, but vanilla ICS is so much more beautiful without the extra bloat.
As for the hardware, I want a phone that can do everything a phone should, with a bit of extra fun, and this does just that.
Running games at ~50FPS is great, I don't see why I need a quad core phone to have them run at ~60FPS, at the risk of more battery consumption for little significant gain. There is no future proofing since a year down the line you will switch again; and by that time, your phone will still be just as powerful.
Hell, the G1 is still a great phone if you use it as one.

sounds like you dont know what you want and will probably feel the same with any of those phones.
Early May could very well be the announcement of the Galaxy S XXX super duper HD and I'd still not care. If it's not a GSM Nexus, it's not for me, because of the myriad of reasons already covered in this forum.

Spec wise, the HTC One X kinda beats the Nexus but isn't as fast in real use because of Sense 4.0. The only phone to beat the Nexus will be the Galaxy S3, but that usually will become the basis for the next Nexus anyway, so you just have to choose which cycle to get on, the Nexus Cycle or the Galaxy S Cycle. Stock Google and latest Firmware make the Nexus Cycle a no-brainer. I just hope you got a deal on the Nexus(s) because they are dirt cheap now (~$450)
I enjoy AOSP and the ease of modding with this device. Sure there might be other devices coming out w/ newer tech, but I don't think I can stand skins anymore. Even de-sensed and de-blurred don't cut it anymore.
I always get buyers remorse so can't really help you there. All I can say is that I wish i'd waited for SGS3 because if it's anything like the SGS2, which blows the nexus out of the water in every way but the screen, then I will be having a very very bad case of buyers remorse on 3rd May lol.
As for helping with your buyers remorse, if you like the look and feel of the phone, and can live with some minor flaws like the odd bit of lag, you will be ok with this phone.

$429 NIB + 2 years warranty shipped(each), so it was a pretty good deal.
I like what you're saying and i think that will be my plan of attack and just upgrade every nexus release, even if i had waited for the GS3 i wouldn't of been able to pick 2 of them up, I'm guessing they are going to be $800-$900.
Well thanks guys i feel a little better, im using a desire Z at the moment so it should be a big leap.

I don't think you'll have remorse. You're getting a great package, great price and updating to 4.0.4 will be awesome. And if you're a tinkerer it can only get better. Just think, a lot of us paid over $700 and don't regret it at all, even with the small problems we've had. And if you're already on xda, free tech support. Notice I said tech support and not noob support.
bow chicka wow wow.

+1. I've had the Desire and Desire HD before getting the GN and I must say every phone I've come across with Sense on it has been so poorly coded that it's had FPS issues just swiping from homescreen to homescreen.
The HTC One without Sense will best the GN hands down when stripped of Sense but I can't help but think (despite not having used one) that it will still struggle to run at a fluid ~59fps with Sense on it.
The Galaxy Nexus like all Nexus phones is a reference phone, Android as Google intended without all the extra manufacturers add to it (ie Sense, Touchwiz, Motoblur, etc.) which some people may actually like. If you like Sense then a HTC One might be the way to go for you.
My biggest thing with Android phones is developer support. I personally am coming from a HTC Thunderbolt, which at the time was great, a ton of developers, ROMS, MODS....life was nice. Then, the Nexus came out, and within a month about 75% of the developers had jumped ship, updates were slow, and it just wasn't fun anymore.
So that said here is my list of things I look for when buying a new phone
1. Good Developer Support (Pretty much guaranteed for Nexus phones)
2. Style, Build, and Accessories (I would say HTC usually takes this, but Sammy is catching up)
3. Newness of Technology (You don't want a phone that is still using 2 year old tech. However, the newest tech is not the best bet either, since this creates issues with developers being able to take advantage of the latest and greatest in their ROMS. The thunderbolt was a perfect example, it was the first with 4G LTE, which was a nightmare for developers to get the ROMS working right. Till this day CM7 is still not an official build on the Thunderbolt.
4. Resale Value - Lets be honest you do not have an Apple Device which gets good resale prices due to its limited lineup. However, Nexus phones often keep better resale then their counterparts just due to the fact it is a Nexus phone. I usually trade up every year, sell the old one with its accessories for about 300 and use it to buy the next one. This allows you to get the latest and greatest every year, for about the same price of an upgrade or cheaper.
I'd buy the GN in a heartbeat at prices now... ~$440 unlocked.
This device feels way more solid than the Galaxy S2 that my SO has.
Here is the situation:
I am a 23 year old CIS Grad who loves technology, computers, and my phone.
Current Phone - iPhone 4 (Needed trusty OS and previously had a Fascinate, Droid, iPhone 3G)
Carrier - Verizon
Upgrade Available? - Yes
Reasons I am on iOS
I steered clear of Android over the last few years because they release so many phones that I always feel that I will get the short end of the stick, see a newer, better phone, and want to kill myself.
Android Updates are just inconsistent (unless you have a Nexus, which is already outdated).
Reasons I Shouldn't Be on iOS
I love customizing my phone
I love rooting my phone
I love experimenting with the OS
So, should I get the Samsung Galaxy S III?
Wait for a newer, better phone this holiday season?
Other phones I am interested in -
HTC 8X
I'd wait for note 2 or next nexus. The next nexus is gonna be announced at tje end of this month

I know that lol. I hate the iPhone. I am not in support of companies who fail to innovate. I just needed a reliable phone and at that time, it was the most reliable.
Well we already have jelly Bean albeit it's a leak but near perfect
Removable battery
Wires that don't cost a fortune
Hd display
Has a perfect weight/thickness (my friends complain about it being too thin)(not joking or sarcasm from them)
Google maps will forever be> Apple maps
No camera problems (iPhone has that pink thing)
Removable battery
Cdma versions already have cm10 and miui and paranoid and aosp and aokp

So you think I should wait until October 29th (Next Nexus announcement) or buy the S3 now?

I would get the S3 over the new nexus any day. Only for one reason though LG is making it and I will never own something from LG again. I have had bad luck with LG everything and I mean everything I have ever bought that was LG was complete **** IMO. Even with it beaning a new nexus I feel the S3 still is far more superior. Good luck on your choice.

I rather throw my money in the trash then to buy an iPhone.
Have the s3 love it best android phone I have owned. Gonna probably get the note 2 since its a s3 on steroids.

I find it funny that one of your reasons for avoiding Android has been because of the wide variety of choices, fearing that as soon as you purchase a phone it'll already be outdated.....
So to remedy this you went ahead and chose a proprietary phone that was outdated 6 months before it was even available to purchase!
ICS is good on the S3. With the right custom TW ROM, you get good speed, a smooth UI, good battery life, and that it's easier to use than GB (my wife has the Conquer 4G).
I've used the JB leak though, and can confirm its faster, easier to use, provides better battery life, and seems to have enabled better data speeds (although, this could just be a placebo) than my current favorite TW ICS ROM. I believe KLP will see even more improvements, and that's due out towards the end of the month (rumor has it).
As far as phone hardware goes. This is technology. Of course it will be outshine shortly after release! The market is competitive, and that means the consumer wins. You can't go wrong in getting the SGS3 right now. Likewise, if you wanted to wait, nobody would blame you for holding out for the Note 2, or a new Nexus device, or HTC's answer to the SGS3, or the SGS4.....I could keep going because there'll always be something around the corner.
So break out of the pen, sell your wool, leave the apple where it fell and get yourself a phone that you've researched and are confident meets your needs - then come back here to XDA, do more research (use search please), and make your device unique, one-of-a-kind, and expect the best from your device.
Cause that's what XDA's all about...enabling probability in the natural pursuit of demanding excellence from the things we enjoy.

I'd wait for the fall/winter offerings
I have only owned 4 smartphones so my opinion may not be on great use. However I thoroughly enjoy the S3 and have to say it is my favorite phone..plus I haven't even rooted it yet. My first smartphone was an iPhone 3g so of course I loved it, but when I got my Inspire I never looked back. I rooted my Inspire and flashed the hell out of it. Every other week it felt like I had a new phone with new tips and tricks to learn. I never felt like my phone was outdated although it was.
After I was eligible to upgrade I picked up an Evo 4G Lte which I ended up returning. The only things I miss are the build quality and audio quality. I'm not saying the S3 doesn't have good sound because it does, and it is much louder than the Evo was. The build quality is fine as well, but I liked the kickstand and "metal" body. Regardless of those two factors I still love my S3. I have yet to root it and feel that if I do I will love it that much more. I also feel that with the internals, screen, and software this phone is packing, it is a definite winner. ICS/JB are both very good operating systems and feel much more fluid and closer to the level of "quality" someone who buys an iPhone might expect. The community here is also great which is another reason that I'm sticking with the droid.

Honestly, that's one of the things I like about android phones. With so many OEMs competing, you get slightly better phones every few months or so. Better processor, better screen, better camera, NFC, new design etc. So you get gradual progress over the year. With iPhone (at least starting with the 4s) you get slight progress once a year.
To paraphrase NWA, the SGS3's the motherf*cker that's built to last.
Don't buy lg
S3 is future proof

S3 is a great phone no doubt. But it should be easy to pick between it and the Note 2 because they are in different catagories. Do you want a phone that also doubles as a small tablet or just a phone? IMO the Note 2 is too big for someone that wants just a phone but I realize that is not always the case.
Other thing to consider is the sooner you upgrade the sooner you can upgrade next time. Also, the S3 is going to be cheaper on the upgrade since it has dropped in price while the Note 2 or any of the new phones are gonna cost more.
Not trying to sway either way just giving some things to consider.
New dock, and the headphone jack is on the bott..........oh damn never mind. In all seriousness I would just wait, you hit the nail on the head about all the different android phones that come out after the release of the newest thing. You will never have the latest android phone on contract unless you have money to burn.
The S3 is a fantastic phone and will hold me over for the time being and plus I bought the plan from bestbuy that gives me the most bang for my buck if I want to get something else before my two years is up. I would not recommend buying any lg phone even if it is a nexus device.
Do you plan on staying with Verizon and what type of plan do you have with them? Hell if you could spare the cash, find an s3 for sale locally and save that upgrade.

I have to stick with Verizon. My plan is through a company. I don't believe the Note 2 will ever come to Verizon.
I am not as petrified of LG as most of you, but I'm also not content with it either.
To those of you basically saying I am an Apple fanboy or iOS junkie, thats just simply false. I only bought the iPhone 4 because of how frustrated I was at Samsung with its Fascinate support and the speed at which Android released new firmwares that were incompatibile with almost every phone except the Nexus.
I cannot stand iOS, I just didn't feel like shelling out $600+ while under contract for a phone that saw less support (albeit with more features than the iPhone).
I am worried about spending my contract on the GS3 because Key Lime Pie is due out soon, and technically the S3 doesn't even have Jelly Bean yet.
I know a KLP rom will be out but I would prefer a KLP based rom.
If you're a tech enthusiast, I don't think you need us to talk you into it. Look at the stats, make up your own mind. Think for yourself.
Obviously you come into this forum you're going to get skewed results. Go into an iPhone forum and tell them you're thinking of switching to Android and see what their consensus is.
That being said, I have had zero problems with my SIII and I don't think I'll have any regrets about buying it until I'm eligible for a new phone.
The advancements that have been made in Android the past 1.5-2 years are incredible to say the least.
