[Q] Would you still by the Incredible 2 ? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

I'm beyond ready to upgrade my OG Droid, which has served me well for two whole years, and I'm wondering if you all would still recommend it now, in late November 2011. In a world of Rezounds, Razrs, Bionics, and eventually Galaxy Nexus's (Nexi?) will I end up feeling like I'm already out of date if I buy a Dinc2?
I see that people on this and other forums really like the DI2. And I see that I can have root, and a fun selection of ROM's to play with, like I'm used to with my OG Droid. I think I'd miss all of that with one of the newer phones, at least until all of that gets worked out. And of course, you can buy the Incredible 2 for next to nothing, while the "hot" phones are close to $300, even with an upgrade. I don't have 4G where I live out in the stix, and probably won't for a while, probably not until after my next upgrade.
Your thoughts?

In your case absolutely
Tap'n on miui incredible 2

I recommend you get a Inc2 locally and hold on to your upgrade. I got mine for 150 a couple months ago.

FREAKIN' GO FOR IT!!!! IT'S THE BEST PHONE EVER!!!! lol

Well my og Droid was a good phone but I got the dinc2 toward the end of Sept and its so sweet. Its easy to get root and custom rom going. In fact I choose this phone mainly because miui had recently been ported to it. Its super smooth and really don't even need over clocking.

I've learned a lot about android since I got my inc2 as a replacement for my og inc and I wouldn't trade that

Lol, I was in the exact same situation. Coming from an OG Droid, and not really knowing what to wait for. I don't have 4g at my house either and that was pretty much the decision maker. I didn't feel like paying for something I couldn't use. Plus I wanted a 4" screen. Its the perfect screen size. I bought my wife a Droid X and myself the DINC2. Had it for about a month now, and I'm loving it. One thing though, I don't care for how the back comes off. It basically splits the phone in half... And feels kinda cheap. Also I bought a otter box commuter case but it felt too slippery, so I got a body glove case too lol. This case made the phone perfect.

There's not a single phone currently available or soon to be available that I'd take over the Inc2. You can keep your dual cores, NFC chips, 4.3+ inch screens, etc. To me, the Inc2 is the perfect combination of form factor, features and performance.

I agree with above. The only reason I would dump this phone is if I left Verizon and got my hands on a euro GS2 or Nexus. This phone leaves nothing to be desired.
I will say though that it looks outclassed on Verizon shelves lately. I still think it is the best and totally underrated.
[Sent from my INC2]

Came from the HTC Eris, loving the DI2 & got mine free - could've gone with a bigger 4.3" device running 4G, except I get poor 3G coverage at the house while the zip code is 4G, if I walk 4 blocks west, I get a 5x faster coverage and enhanced signal coverage.
By the time my line is ready for an upgrade in 2013, I'm sure there will be plenty of 4G global device with better battery standby & the bugs will be ironed out beyond Ice Cream Sandwich, etc. Otherwise, this has more than enough reserve power as an advanced mobile phone plus a few, extra functions on the go - I have no intentions of wishing for a HDMI hookup to watch Hulu Plus, etc. on big screen HDTV & then ***** about poor Dolby DSP tuning.
Planning to surprise DW with one (DI2 in white or maybe red ??) for the holiday even though she barely manage to remember how to use her feature phone. There are virtually no FRU or pre-owned units available on VZW's site (except for warranty exchanges ....) which is another good indicator of how solid it is.
+1 however, on the battery cover - although with 2 days of standby time, unlike my buddies bragging about their TBolts, I don't worry about pulling, switching to a spare & charging battery every few hours - or, spend $$ for the brick (bulky extended battery & cover + oversized case/cover)

Thanks!
Thanks to all who replied. I'm leaning towards getting this phone. I do want to get into the store and see a Rezound in person, take a look at that 1280x720 screen.

I have had the HTC D Eris, HTc INC1, and now INC2.
I can't say that the Rezound is that great of a phone..
I know the Inc2 is almost a year old, in April? i think..?
but it's a great phone, I love root, and it seems you do too, and this phone has a great variety of ROMs and some incredible Devs.
will the rezound eventually be what the inc2 is, yes.
I remeber when inc2 had no root, and ppl thought it would never come with software.
it's ult. up to you.
I would sell the inc1 and buy a second hand inc2, then get the rezound, but hey thats me

Well, I pulled the trigger on a new DI2. Got it for free on Black Friday at Target of all places. Was walking through, not really thinking about or looking at phones, but happened to see the sign for some of the phones they were offering for free on Friday only.
And so far, I love it! It seems real fast, apps pop up almost instantly, nothing ever bogs down or lags in any way. I'm sticking with the stock ROM for now, no real complaints with it. But we'll see how long before I get the itch to start messing around and load up a different ROM. Maybe I can hold out for CM9, or another ICS ROM.

I own the Inc2 and I haven't yet seen a phone worth upgrading too. Every other phone has something I don't like and I'm hoping we see some all metal, super thin, dual-core phones early next year. Like many DINC2 owners I bought mine because this past summer because I couldn't wait any longer for a dual-core phone. Now that they are out, there are other quips, like the nexus missing a few features and the razr's uncomfortable design.
If you can't wait any longer, I would get the droid incredible 2, rhyme, or resound. Just be forewarned that they each have their small faults. I would recommend waiting a few more months to see what kind of ice cream sandwich goodness is released.

Well, I would personally recommend the rezound as it is a dual core with beats (for those that care. I personally don't) and will be getting ICS in the upcoming months. It will also have the latest sense when ICS comes out for it, and I'm excited to see what kind of spin HTC will put on that bad boy.

Love the Dinc2, and would have a hard time giving it up at the moment, but.... The Rezound would be hard to pass up. That would be the only other phone I would consider at this time (not even interested in the Galaxy Nexus, sorry no love for Samsung from me lol). If I had 4g, I would be very tempted to make the switch, but I doubt that 4g will be in my neighborhood anytime soon, so the Dinc2 is safe in my home

dinc 2
Go for it, it is an awesome phone. The dinc 2 is one of a few DLNA capable devices on the market and in the future that will be a big deal. The dinc was my first android phone and it was good but the dinc 2 is better. I looked at the rezound and the razr and while good phones I could not justify the $300 tag when I was able to get the dinc 2 for free. Check out my post abot the dinc 2 from yesterday on the tv out thread.

A bit related, but how does the DI2 compare for someone who wants to upgrade from a D2? I need global capabilities and this, beside the D3 seem like my only options(Droid Pro is a downgrade in some ways, hence not on my list). Thanks.

Swore I would NEVER Do A Droid.
I got my DIncI $Free Back in March since my LG Fathom was giving me issues.
Got assimilated.
Dark DIncII arrived in Sept.
$50USD and was rooted the weekend BEFORE the hboot.98.
Loved it so much that Reda DIncII was a Black Friday deal. $Free.
Now my next upgrade for familly plan will be in Jan.
The rep I spoke with told me that the Rezound uses MOST of that GIG of RAM for the Beat to even TRY to make it sound any good.
The amount of people that are sending back whole unit for because of issues with the overpriced earbuds.
Yea, it's a wonder that this unit isn't pulled already and sold as CPO.
Either way VZW just wrights it off as a loss and keeps trying to hump the AppHole.
I thought that "Denial of Access to User Up Gradable Storage" was an AppHole copyright.
Now Willy PHone 7 thinks it's a way to sell more PHones with different storage capacity.
What a bunch of crap....

Any how back near topic:
Yea I think I might just get another DIncII maybe the White one.
Enjoy....

Is this the phone to get?

I currently have a Samsung Fascinate and planning to selling it because of lack of some features in Froyo and probably future updates in general.
Is this the phone to get as in terms of software development progress? (In verizon of course). Or is Droid 2 or X good as well? (not liking the X because it's too big).
I don't play games whatsoever on this phone. TBh, most important feature is just getting things done very quickly; Music, E-Mail, Browsing, GPS, SMS/MMS.
Thank you.
Nah, this isn't the phone to get. Verizon has a Powerhouse lineup coming out very soon including the thunderbolt and an LG smartphone ( and the iPhone, being announced tomorrow ).
Sent from my HTC Incredible using XDA App
Of course I'm a little bias but yes, I think as of now this is the phone to have. The development community rocks, and it is a very quick phone. Now there are some awesome phones on the horizon; the HTC Thunderbolt, and the Moto Droid Bionic. But considering you can get a DInc at Best Buy for free (with a new contract or available upgrade of course) it is a sweet deal. As far as what's currently out I haven't checked the Droid 2 forums but I did check out the X just to see how it was coming, and it's nothing compared to what we have over here. Just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth.

You said "(In verizon of course)." Are you thinking of running the stock ROM? Or plan to root and run some of the great ROMs the devs here put out?
Since you said 'Verizon', makes me think you're planning to run stock. If so, beware that even the Thunderbolt is shipping with Froyo. My guess is we won't see Gingerbread (officially) until spring or summer.

thank you everyone for your reply!
I meant Verizon as in, I am restricted to phones that Verizon carries. I don't really stay stock, if I do, I'd at least have a ULV Kernel.
If I sell this now, I'll need to use a dumb phone until whatever phone I need comes out. I wonder if I can order the iPhone tomorrow on the website... kind of tempting.
Anyway, thanks everyone!

When are these coming out? I don't want to be without one of these things for more than a month or so...
The choice is basically Incredible, D2G, or D2X ($50, $150, $120 respectively from Amazon to upgrade on my brothers upgrade eligible line) if the iPhone reallyy comes out tomorrow, I'd have to think about this all over again -.-

iPhone will be February at the soonest. It's being announced tomorrow
Personally it was the only choice for me. I think many of the new phones are getting toooooo big. Tho phone is the perfect size for me. If is also very very fast. I still have to get use to the screen keyboard. All my old phones had a keyboard. But that is not too bad.
So, my vote is yes. The size and speed makes it he best phone I have played with.

There is a thread I made that shows all the ROMs (that are up to date with development) to show how awesome our dev community is. The incredible is an awesome phone. I am moving to the iPhone because I've wanted one since I switched to VZW, but if you want to stay with android and you are in the sub-4" market... go with the incredible. It is the heat.
The thread I mentioned is at the top of the droid incredible development page, as a sticky.
Ok so iPhone announced preorders begin Feb 3rd releases Feb 10th, if you want to stay Android get the Thunderbolt, Motorola does a horrible job with android phones and the Droid and Droid X community's are dead, if you get an Incredible your getting us, the great community but you could be getting the 4g LTE with the thunderbolt. In conclusion YOUR BETTER OFF GETTING THE THUNDERBOLT!

What is the deal with upgrades at January 16th?
I have the discount pricing for additional family line (my little brother) available for use, that's why I was considering the 3 phones because they're not that pricey at Amazon.com or Newegg.com with contract.
Bloody hell, I would be stuck with a dumbphone until those new phones come out.. and I heard Verizon might do a more expensive plan for 4G phones?
lol iphone,, um negative.. hell im gonna leave verizon.. tired of paying out the arse.. lol gonna go to virgin mobile.. ( samsung intercept ) <----ya i know but for 27 bucks a month its worth it.. not to mention still have my DINC to play with over wifi...
I realized I didnt use alot of junk outside of facebook. last.f.m. and a few other apps. so the intercept will work just fine.. and still have 3g service..

I'm sure 4G would cost more.. it is 8x faster... but only 1/3 of their 3G is covered with 4G.. do us without have to pay.. if so, **** that. ill get a fascinate to be my play around phone then lol. 4g isn't that important to me, either is 2.3, nor 3.0.. i had 1.5 on my eris that was rock solid. ever since that freak hype for 2.1 it has ruined it for me. I will never let myself get that excited for an update again, esp considering how long that wait was for what felt like nothing. I think that is what the Thunderbolt is gunna be like, since 2/3 of the 3g population won't have 4g service it will basically be an incredible with a 4.3 screen, stand, sound, and second gen snapdragon or whatever.

Same here.
i went from the fascinate to the Dinc for the same reasons you did, and couldn't be happier. There just wasn't a solid DEV community for that phone.. coming to the DINC was night and day.. so many choices, so much support.. I run the MIUI ROM and love it..
I left the D2 for the Incredible and have zero regrets. If you want to have custom ROMs and kernels, you have to stick with HTC. X/2 ROMs are really hamstrung by the locked bootloader.
The development scene on the Incredible is great and probably as good as it will get on Verizon for the foreseeable future. The Thunderbolt will get custom ROMs and kernels just the same, but public sentiment seems to indicate it won't be as popular - meaning a slightly smaller development community (though perhaps Incredible and EVO ports will be relatively simple).
All that said, I'm probably going to jump on the Thunderbolt the day its released
I love the inc, but i would also wait.
I would actually wait until I see a phone that has the dev support/community like the Inc.
For me, where the dev support goes is where I go.

After the Incredible?

What is everyone planning to get as their next phone? I love my Incredible but the last couple of days, I've been getting FC's left and right and strange errors, missing texts and calls, random reboots, etc.... I think it's on its last days .... I'm eligible for a new phone but didn't want to get one until now ..... any recommendations for a new phone? I haven't really seen any announcements for the next big phone from Verizon and 4G phones kill your battery and are overrated (IMO) right now.
Well, if you're staying with Verizon there's the Droid Bionic, their Galaxy SII variant and the HTC Vigor. Granted, you'll have to wait a month or two for em, but they should be worth it.
If you don't plan on staying with Verizon there's always the Nexus Prime.

If you've got 4G where you're at, it's really nice, so nice I'd NEVER go back to 3G, but it's also heavily ROM and radio dependent as to how it eats your battery. 4G on my Tbolt is basically as good as 3G on my dInc is. If you could care less about 4G, the BEST 3G device to be had is the dInc2. I never even thought about charging that thing most of the time. The battery just keeps going and going. 2 days, easy.
My re-up time is coming up in late November, and I'm looking at the Vigor or Bionic. The stats we're seeing on the Vigor are awesome. Dual core running at 1.5g, front facing camera is 2mp, and 4g. The only thing I'll need are extra batteries
Sent from my Incredible droid via XDA Premium App
my last early upgrade happens the first week of September, at this point there is nothing available from big red that excites me. My next phone must be a dual core LTE phone. but I'm thinking of waiting until November or so, Vigor sounds promising so far.
My DINC still rocks, so there is really no hurry.
I'm in the same boat as the OP. Tons of FC's and SMS and MMS not showing up even after full wipes X 3 and fresh installs from the market. Recently I can't find a ROM that runs smoothly on my device.
I have my eyes on the SGII or the Vigor, but it's going to be tough holding on for that long... I'm ready now.

Galaxy SII, HTC Vigor....but most likely the Nexus Prime if it comes to Verizon
I'll be keeping my Dinc until a good phone with native PC dock support comes out on Verizon (unless another network with great coverage like Sprint gets it first). Then I'll never need another laptop.
Would love the next nexus phone, but I'd bet money it won't be on the "largest high-speed wireless network in America." So the it will be the Cativate 2 or maybe the Bionic....

I want something with a similar footprint (3.7") to Dinc — my Dinc2 is too big for my liking. Funny, some low-end droids (samsung iirc) had similar footprint to Dinc. I just like HTC phones though, so I'm waiting for another >4" HTC, or buy [lightly used] Dincs from eBay until phones stop trending so huge (over 4.3" they might as well be a tablet!)

I seriously doubt you'll ever see anything as tiny as the dInc from HTC again. The EVO Shift is probably as small as you're going to get from here on out. As the screens get more efficient, I think you're going to see them trend up to roughly 4.3 inches or so and hang out right about there. 5" is WAY too big. Apple has got to be realizing that resolution only matters so much and you're only going to sell phones with postage stamp sized touch screens for so long before you're the ONLY one doing it. Since the dInc is gone, they really ARE the ONLY ones doing it. Sorry, but that's just how it is.
I'm really impressed with the Galaxy SII but I love me some HTC phones. I can't upgrade until the end of December so I have plenty of time to go crazy for the latest and greatest phone only to see it trashed in the forums until the next big thing comes along.
I'll probably fall in love with at least 3 phones before it is over with.
I'm not getting another new release phone. This next one will have to be out for a while before I buy it - I'm tired of being the guinea pig.
Only 3 more posts until I hit my 10.

That's why I'm going to try to hang onto my dIncs as long as possible. But I think there'll always be a market for small sleek gadgets, including phones. If I _had_ to choose a replacement today, I suppose I'd go with one of the samsung skinnies (not a samsung fan), but I'd have every expectation that htc would remember it's sleek design roots!

I'm happy with my Incredible so far but my only issue is with battery life. Would like a Incredible 2 but it just doesn't feel like a big update. The only thing that would make me jump on the incredible 2 is if it had a dual core and maybe a better camera also. Will always love anything that is running ASOP android. Don't need sense or anything fancy like that. Hoping the Nexus Prime comes to verizon. Maybe?
I hope this comes true. I would pounce immediately.

Re-Invigorate (From Inc2 to X2)

I just wanted to bring up this discussion again and get some people's thought on changing from inc2 to X2. Especially since the root on 2.3.3 is taking a long time.
My brother has the X2, and given that it has root, unlike my inc2 with 2.3.3, I've been highly tempted to switch; Then, I noticed something that really makes me want to make the switch:
His reception is continuously a few bars higher than mine- given the better reception, available root (I just rooted his phone for him this morning), dual core, and better resolution- I am highly tempted... What are your thoughts? I know it has less ram, but he's never had any problems with it...
I also like the dedicated buttons for home and such- you can actually hold the phone slightly differently than the Inc2 because of this, and its kinda nice.. Although, I do like the ease of the HTC touch buttons...
I'm not trying to hate- I've been an loyal HTC user since the XV-6800.
So how about it community of awesomeness- Would you make the change if given the opportunity to do it for free?
motorola products are well built...but u will be the running the stock kernel until the end of time, regardless of 2nd init

I just rooted an X2 and upgraded it to a zipaligned deodexed and debloated 2.3.3.
The thing wasn't even close to my inc2 in speed, not even in the same zipcode.
Unless you need root desperately, i'd wait. The specs on the motorola may look strong, but you stick the 2 phones together and rooted inc2 with a good rom is going to smoke that thing to pieces any day.
I've hated every Moto I've had the misfortune of owning. That includes the X. Since you're asking for opinion I'd say hell no. No Moto is as good as the Inc2 right now. The dual core will be crap compared to the 1.5 dual snapdragon anyway
I switched from the X2 to the INC2. That stock X2 had more bugs than than the amazon rainforest! I couldn't even play an MP3 without it skipping when trying to run another app. IMHO, there is nowhere near enough RAM on the X2, especially for a dual core. With light use, the available RAM was well below 100MB. On many occasions, the available RAM was below 50Mbs. I would advise anyone to run, not walk, from the X2 as quick as possible. The users with bad experiences far out number those with good. And those with good experiences, I think have just become complacent with a sub-par device. That's my 2 cents. Having used both phones, I can honestly say the INC2 will run circles around the X2. All the tweaks in the world won't give the X2 more RAM.
These posts have been very insightful. I suppose I will wait for the root on the Inc2- At least we can do WiFi sharing, that's one of the major things I wanted to get out of a root anyhow. I just wish we could get rid of all that VZW crap
Thanks again community- ya never fail
A deblurred, deodexed, debloated, zipalinged Droid X2 wouldn't be bad. But IMO we shouldn't have to do all of that to make a phone function like the DInc2.

I work for Big Red and from my sales experience I would not take a X2 if it was a gift. From the X to the X2 has been a constant headache. The Dinc2 is like a zippy exotic sports car and the MOTO X is like a Chevy Camaro with a supercharged engine but only has a 5 gallon gas tank.
I believe it was Phonescoop that did a great write up on the Dinc2. In short they said: The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is a fluid machine with updates to 2.3.3 but like its older brother the Droid Incredible it will be in the shadows of the other phones launching. The 4g line and X2 will hog up air time and billboard space. While the Dinc2 will only be seen as the red headed step child.
Ok that is my take on what they said but it is true.

I'm actually kinda liking the Droid 3. Keyboard.

One of my inlaws has an X2, and it does indeed get a considerably stronger signal than the Inc2, but personally, I can't stand everything else about it - the size, the crazy shape, the locked boot loader, the physical buttons and the widly reported bugs.
Yeah- it is rather square- actually, I'm pretty sure I would really regret going from an uber sexy phone to the X2. The decision has been made, I'm getting asurion to send me another Inc2.
Today my sister had a problem with her Inc2, it randomly went into global mode and she had to do a hard reset to get it back on the CDMA network- anyone else have this problem? I've had my inc2 do it to me a couple times which is why I am having asurion send me another new device...

Glad you decided to stay! Because rooting just became possible! See what patience can do?
After alot of problems with a d2g I got vz to replace it with a dinc2(not here yet). So I've done alot of research today and saw a crapload of videos reviews mostly and I have to say that the software on the dinc2 will be better then motos. Haven't used it but I Already know that based on what i've seen. I started out my droid journey with an eris and let's be honest that phone stunk. So with that had a bad taste in my mouth with htc and sense. I got a dx and never considered an htc device again until I actually took a look at the inc2. I'm happy with my d3 don't get me wrong but I may have went with it. Prior to actually checking the phones out they seemed kinda feminine with their rainbow wallpapers but after seeing its capabilities I may give my old lady the d3 and keep the inc2

Root now available? Absolutely amazing! Those guys over at revolutionary are truly amazing. I'm glad I didn't buy an xtc clip today like I was planning on doing.
I had the inc1 and gore insurance to upgrade me to the inc2 for free- I am very pleased. It is quite a bit more zippy than the inc1 and when I talked to the guy at asurion, he said the inc2 was the phone that worked the best; that is, he almost never got a call about problema on the inc2.
I can't wait to see what this phone can do now that the bulk of inc2 users can finally root! The developers on this site are truly amazing.

Would you recommend this phone today?

Hi guys, i've posted before, I used to have a Droid X but sold it for a reason, how do you guys like the Dinc? Any of you guys had a phone with a bigger screen before? Have you gotten used to typing on it? How is the overall experience with the Dinc?
Well I love my Dinc. I'm coming from an Eris previously though so to me it does seem 'bigger'. It for sure has the speed and power with whatever I need it to do. So no issue there. IDK, I guess its the difference between what you want and what you need it to do. It is an older device with scimpy support of course from VZW and HTC. But then again we have some awesome devs on here that are still putting in a lot of work for the device. But if you want the latest tech you should deferentially hold of for something like the Vigor(inc hd?) or drop some cash right now for the Inc2 or dare I even say Thunderbolt? lol. Time moves on and tech keeps getting better.

do not get the thunderbolt. It is such a bad decision. Do not even consider it. I love this phone though, if you can wait, definitely wait for the vigor. I have a strong feeling that's what's gonna be in my pocket on December 14th (my upgrade day)

Well, I couldn't possibly disagree with you more. The Thunderbolt is without a doubt the single best device Verizon has. Nothing else does as much so well. HTC attempted to do something NO OTHER PHONE has ever done, and succeeded; simultaneous voice and EVDO/LTE data. The Charge doesn't do it, and neither does the LG. Of course waiting is an option, but a stupid one in my estimation because it's an argument that could be made at any point in time about any device. Assuming you're going to wait and get it at or near launch, you're virtually stuck with whatever HTC and Verizon deem worthy for it to run. Root is another question altogether. I've argued with several people about the merits of the Tbolt, usually with people that have hardly touched one. Bottom line is that I've yet to hand my phone to someone who didn't find it just stupid-fast and a pure pleasure to use. The stock battery pounds both the EVO 4G and dInc right into the ground by a solid margin of 30% while running 1.5GHz.
To directly answer the question of whether I'd recommend the dInc today, no, I certainly wouldn't. If I had to recommend a phone, it would be the Tbolt first, the dInc2 second for those who've got little hope of seeing LTE in the near future. I wouldn't recommend waiting to get a Vigor or whatever it shall be called for 2 reasons. First, nobody knows what's really inside that phone. Second, nobody know how it's actually going to perform. There was all this orgasmic hype around the Tbolt. When it launched, it had some issues that were't exactly clear, but have since been resolved to the tune of solid 1 day battery lives and practically flawless operation and reliability. But still, I see posts like this, clearly uninformed, bashing on a truly excellent device, one which seems to have some of the most unique and exciting development of any device I'm aware of. I can't speak for phones that don't exist, but today, as this is written, the Tbolt is the BEST device Verizon has ever sold, supported by the fastest network, providing feature NO other device offers.
Thanks for the replies guys, but I will not be going to Verizon. Not everyone can afford to have the latest and greatest, that's not what i'm aiming for. If I get the Dinc and activate it, it won't be used on Verizon.

it's a great phone and I would definitely recommend it to anyone, not just people on a budget or saving an upgrade. I have three lines with upgrades available and won't use them on anything out now, waiting on the next batch of phones.
we have a thunderbolt in the house and I don't think it is worth the upgrade (even with our one year plan), it is not the tremendous upgrade that some people here will say and you're not on verizon so lte doesn't matter.
Definitely get an incredible if you find a good deal, you shouldn't be disappointed.
I would get a thunderbolt only because ihtfp is working his magic on it. Skyraider Zeus looks incredible!
That said, I would still recommend the incredible to someone who likes small form phones. Its the last of its kind and runs like a champ with a vast selection of custom roms. However I am not sure how many of these roms will play nice with the carrier you plan on going to.

Gotta say I love the dinc (like previous poster said, it's size — I can slip it in my back pocket); I intend to keep buying dincs (ebay) until droids stop trending into tablet-sized paperweights.
But one issue with the dinc is the infuriatingly small amount of phone memory; I haven't hit on the issue myself (I clean app caches regularly, don't install every app on the market), but it's a bit douchey that internal memory is 8G, but only about 700MB is 'phone memory'. If there was one thing I could change about the stock phone, it would be the phone memory partition.
Otherwise, development for dInc is [no pun] incredible. If you don't mind the size, tb or dinc2 would be good options, too.
(And if you're not going with vzw and don't care about size, hold out for the freaking samsung galaxy 2!)

I bought one today for 110 dollars, the guy said it was mint and had a clean esn, the phone did look fresh looking, and my sister checked the esn, it is clean, does have some scratches on the side, I had a Droid X, but, I like the Dinc, problem though, the screen has burn in. How about replacing this screen and or digitizer or whatever.

That's not that hard. I have a friend who does that stuff. The AMOLED is a little harder to find than the SLCD and they aren't compatible. All the digitizers are the same. Use the tape to mount it, not glue. I've heard stories of it bleeding over into the screen area.
I think it would depend on price and availability.
If you can get it cheap, and options like the Thunderbolt or Incredible 2 aren't available for whatever reason, it's still a good phone.
I would certainly recommend and do recommend the Incredible, maybe not for bleeding-edge people, but for anyone I want to introduce to the wonders of Android, I always tell them to go for the Incredible, and everyone that has have all been as blown away as I first was. The most solid phone I've ever owned by a massive margin.

Dinc has been really worth it b/c of ease of use and rooting. I would recommend this phone for anyone wanting to get into this sorta stuff.

incredible for bionic?

hey guys i just want some opinions. i have the chance to trade my inc+ $200 for my friends bionic. the screen is so nice and its super fast. however a total of about 5 roms for the bionic?? idk if i can deal with that. as long as it gets a stable cm7 soon i might do it. but the development here is simply AMAZING!
so would you guys do it or not?
Do you have any upgrades anytime soon? If so, then certainly not. Much better phones coming out soon and you will probably be able to come up on some decent phones at a good price if you hold out for a bit.
Umm I believe not tell April
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I would wait. Keep your Inc and save your $200. By the time April rolls around you'll be able to get the Rezound, RAZR, or GNex for $200 or less. By then all 3 will have good development in place. All three are vastly superior to the Bionic.
The Bionic is already passed its prime and the Inc will be a classic forever. Hold onto it.

Agreed. I think that you will be kicking yourself in the butt in one week after the swap.
Two words.....HELL NO. I personally have no love for Motorola. Especially as I sit here and wait for my wife's 3rd D2 to arrive in the mail. The first one had a slight "pressure crack" in the screen within the first 2 weeks she had it. That was a fight with VZW to replace it. I believe it was a manufacturers defect but they claimed damage. Took a while, but they replaced it. This last one totally crashed on it's own. D2.37 boat loader screen came up out of the blue. Phone was never rooted or played around with. So long story short, I don't trust Motorola phones. I've never had an issue with ANY other phone besides Motorola in the last 15 years of me using a cell phone.
I don't believe there is a better phone out there for development than the Dinc that isn't named a Nexus. I love ALL the Roms/Kernel options for this phone. Even if you like Motorola, the Razr will be out in a week, and within the next 6 months, only better things will be coming along. I've been tempted myself to use an upgrade a few different times, but in the end, I don't think there is a phone out there that is leaps and bounds better than the Dinc when you consider all factors. As far as specs, I like the 3.7" screen over the 4.3 and larger. 1ghz processor is FAR from outdated and is just fine speed wise, and the development community is top notch and still working hard for us all. The only thing truly missing is a front facing camera.
To be honest, the day I give up my Dinc I will be sad. For one thing, I have come to love the trackpad. I thought it was very useless when I first got the phone, but over the last 18 months, I've found there are many times in emails/texts that my fixing a typing mistake is not an exact placement when touching the screen to move the curser where you want it. The trackpad is invaluable to placing the curser where I need it. It's seems like a small detail, but it saves me a LOT of frustration.
I also don't feel like the bionic is that great of a phone when compared to the Nexus/Razr/Rezound that are all about to come out. I would wait.
Thanks for the huge write up haha. Yeah I love all the options. I may end up waiting for the galaxy nexus

I agree with you and everyone else about the Bionic in comparison to the newer phones arriving now. From what I've noticed though, the Evo 4G development scene flat out triples ours based on numbers haha
