Hey, guys. I want all of us to combine and to write to the CM developers and to want official CM7 or CM9 support for our device. How do you think?
I agree with your initiative but, are they not already working on this?
If you read through this forum, you will know what is going on with developments.
Do not contact Cyanogenmod, as CM 7 is not supported by them yet for this phone, and CM 9 is being worked on again unofficially.
Read the post in CM 7 thread by Alquez the Dev, he does not want Cyanogen to be contacted.
Sent via Tapatalk
Yes, I know.. But I think that official is better than unofficial
Yes, but our Dev has specifically requested that nobody contacts Cyanogen other than himself, this way he gets to offer them a full working ROM that he is happy with.

Agreed! Read the cm7 thread.
Don't spam the cyanogen mod team it will just annoy them.
Imagine how many requests they get from people that want official support.
Just be patient and let alquez continue his good work.

I like that... how can I agree to that?
Alquez will get official support when he is happy with his rom, as said above... He also asked that noone contacts them, so just sit and wait, just like untill now, as you see he is releasing nightly builds, and about cm9 it is being worked on, and it's not even unofficial so don't expect official soon ...
Very misleading topic line. You might want to change it as it looks like an announcement of an official release.
I don't support this. Wait for Alquez is my opinion.

fixed the broken link
Cm7 won't be hard at all after kernel source and root. We need the kernel source first. Also a port won't work, you will have to port it everytime with new releases. We will need cm compiled from source and then submit it so it gets the nightlies. I can do the porting just fine for you guys but it won't be stable or supported. Good things comes to those who wait man

I'll second this
I went and made a donation, I hope this happens, this phone deserves some love.
Donated, let keep this going guys!
done did my part, and donate

You just have to add a memo when making the donation on paypal and hope someone reads it.

Was just wondering if any one of the great xda community members could possibly point me in the right direction to follow the developers for our device on twitter? Just who to follow, screen names, etc.
I also would like to know this. Good post.

I second this notion lol as I have been having a tough time following up with who is supposedly working on what and most devs seem to put up quick little notes from time to time. Its actually quite exciting getting to listen to them talk about what they do.
Haha looks like you switched over too Gene!
@bubby323xda is apparently close to getting CM7 working on the E4GT. He was able to compile a build but his computer crashed so lets hope he gets one working.
@agrabren is part of TeamWin and is working on getting TWRP on our device
@justinjlee is a member of miui.us and has confirmed he has our device and will be working on porting official miui over
Good thread, keep sharing those devs

Haha you know how it goes man, this is phone number 40 for me. My next phone will be the galaxy nexus! But I gotta say I'm loving this thing. I'm craving AOSP with a force right now but I'm still very happy with what I do have at the moment. When we get AOSP in the form of CM or MIUI it will make the wait for ICS MUCH MUCH more palatable xD

That is not fully CM9...only few parts have been used...It will take a while to see a fully functional CM9 for Desire HD
as i said they are porting the latest from CM9, not the full
Progress is ongoing but I believe the issues that are stopping the camera in current porting attempts (lack of the required proprietary files) are holding things up.

Alot of people are waiting for CM9, but you just gotta be patient and wait for any official releases. Asking for ETAs is pointless as you won't get an answer. It'll be ready when it's ready.

Yes it's in development, but is there any newer statements about the progress or something else? I'm interested, too.
The newest I've read is that dhd becomes cm9 support but without any comment about how long they will need for a stable build.

My point exactly, though I don't really mind when they finish with it. I bet they will release it when it's perfectly ready, though it would be nice to have some official news about the specific version for our DHD.

It is in development, you obviously need to wait.
Its not going to pop out from your phone will it?
Just have little patience, we're close. CM9 (ICS) should be released soon.
ICS/CM9 is developing by only one person - gladiac/modpunk. The problem is that he is probably the only of several peoples on WFS thread, who really knows much about porting and stuff. But he is having problems with enabling hardware acceleration. I think people can help by asking developers form other threads how they "hacked" HA and posting answeres in development thread.
The whole WFSDEV team is trying to port CM9 to our phone. Check out the official site.

You realize this type of attitude is the reason CM team doesn't post builds until they are official because people start judging the final product on betas. The only difference between official and unofficial is that one of them allows more premature previews and the other doesn't.Aside from the other obvious facts mentioned

well, to be honest the cm devs said they hadnt put any work into the hercules or skyrocket for a very long time because of other projects, so all the guys who are working on the unofficial are the guys making this happen. soooooo...........
yes cm team members are helping us now, but they are not the ones focused on the project they have other work on their plates.
cyanogen is accepting changes we make so this means its getting into the official repo.
so to the people who say that the official will be better and more stream lined, yes it will, because it will be finished. but it will be entirely built by team chopsticks probably and submitted to cyanogenmod.

Yes thats the point. A dev cant win. If he releases stuff early because everyone wants things now then people will get the impression that one only makes buggy software and if you only do official releases than you end up with release schedules comparable to those of large companies like Samsung and people complain development is going along slowly.
In simplest terms if team A released
5 betas then a release candidate which was accepted as official CM then people
would still complain team A makes buggy software while CM team will always make it perfect even though in this example there is no difference in the source code.
