[ROM] Honeyogen One [June 17, 2011]

Part two to the Honey Saga.. After Samuel2706 and his team did HoneySense for the Desire HD, they decided.. why just Sense? Maybe AOSP and MIUI can get the same treatment too...
... And they did.
(and GazaIan was the magical little boy that ported it to our phones )
Welcome to Honeyogen One!​
Honeyogen is in it's early stages. It's based off of Cyanogenmod 7 so this is probably the part where you run away. If you followed Honeysense, you'd see how it much has changed in it, and how intensely themed it was. We're just getting started. This is just a wee little thread now, but when it blossoms, you'll be amazed, like I was.
You know what AOSP looks like, nothing magical has been added other than light theming. Once theming is heavier, I'll add in screenies.

There is always a first. Tonight the first is...... this "so called" rom has 4 posts. Ha ha ha ha never tried it and never will. TPF even did better.
Love the fact the community has realized the truth about the majority of the "devs" on our forum.

Every aosp rom has CM7 in it,we all knw they are the BIG DOGS,but why every new dev or themer or whatever yall wanna call them come out people bash them left & right..Cm7 doesnt have alot roms with heavy themes,yes credit needs to be givin where its due,they lack that part but they'll learn...

this is actually a rom that was ported from desireHD [found here] there is a mention of it in his OP "(and GazaIan was the magical little boy that ported it to our phones )" He maybe should have thrown a link up to that site but either way he does mention the orignal dev and place of origin, but maybe need to list his "thanks" a bit better... you need to understand that every rom has a "base" whether it be AOSP/CM7/Sense or a combination of them.. So i would say this is a rom, a heavily themed rom, but its still a rom..IMO a theme would be something created for a specific rom that could be applied only to that rom, its all open for argument, but its not like any of us are a corporation with a staff of software engineers creating and developing overlays for android... so i dont know why u r creating this issue esp considering you are not even flashing it??? And i am not sure what the truth is about the Dev's on this board but i can tell you that no one here is getting paid like its a job nor is it an obligation for anyone.. this is a hobby for us nerds, u r not obligated to use any of these roms.. what u say is in no way constructive to the thread, so y do u even bother? Mods around here do a good job of keeping things right, dont think we need a rent-a-mod sh*tting on the board and devs..

Mention of these roms that the OP will port and has ported are in the OP..
To the OP, sweet port looks like they do good work.
Is anyone having issues with gaaps? I flashed the latest gapps 06/11 and I cannot use the browser or market no fc just immediately closes without notice... I reflashed a few times wiping every time of course, I am re downloading to check whether or not it was a bad dl....

Having the same issues. Market closes and no connecting to wifi after the usual formatting and wiping. Fixing permissions also did not work. Even tried flashing it directly over cm7 and didn't work.

actually that's just what I came to do today, because I was so tired that I just added it and left, but by the end of this week the thread is going to look sexy.
Btw as to the issues, I noticed them shortly after releasing them and I thought about pulling this back.. but nah, But I will be fixing them.

Hi, I've checked around the forum a bit and also around the net, and I don't quite manage to find any information about the state of development of CM9 for Desire HD.Any news about it? They don't seem to have updated anything from their official page since des 2nd.

That is not fully CM9...only few parts have been used...It will take a while to see a fully functional CM9 for Desire HD

as i said they are porting the latest from CM9, not the full

Progress is ongoing but I believe the issues that are stopping the camera in current porting attempts (lack of the required proprietary files) are holding things up.

Alot of people are waiting for CM9, but you just gotta be patient and wait for any official releases. Asking for ETAs is pointless as you won't get an answer. It'll be ready when it's ready.

Yes it's in development, but is there any newer statements about the progress or something else? I'm interested, too.
The newest I've read is that dhd becomes cm9 support but without any comment about how long they will need for a stable build.

My point exactly, though I don't really mind when they finish with it. I bet they will release it when it's perfectly ready, though it would be nice to have some official news about the specific version for our DHD.

Indeed but we can strip and png crush
We could also attempt something like system2ext - for now we will probably use repartitioning zips as most of us devs are s-off.
Edit: it looks like using the SD for system is easy due to the way we can pretend it's part of the internal memory

I never really liked squashed roms.. but may have to pull the squasher out.
Hardware sounds strikingly similar.. anybody know of any other differentials other than [its] arm7 vs [our] arm6?

Just a different instruction set, no real problems, only really for game porting. Some libs will need to be changed.
The reason why it is hard to port games to armv6 is because v7 supports floating point calculation.

It does support it better; although the armv6l does have a lil virtual floating point. Main thing is you'd probably have to rewrite shaders for gaming. Luckily, that's not where we're at

Nice thread benj, also XDA newswriters said to me they will feature post the wildfire s about ics as soon as a sense 4 rom is available in some way, then I have to tell them. Then everyone will know about CM9 too.

If you're really desperate for space then alarms, notifications and ringtones can be stored on the sd card under /sdcard/Media/ in their respective folder.

uhh.. simon's computer went capoot, and I said I'd throw some time at it already... maybe that was Jmz's announcement thread.
wierd.. the suggestions I made on github today got erased... perhaps I have better things to do with my time as well. This thread is getting a little crazy anyway; don't want to add to any fray.

You may have seen people around the Wildfire S forum with recognised tags under their names, instead of "Senior Member" or "Member" - this is explained in this post if you don't already know.

My advice

I filed my application to become a "recognized contributer", but it got rejected once they found out my parents weren't related.

I was nominated as RC by s.d. O'Connor and was approved by the admin but I have to wait til the end of July to get the title since I'm not a member for 3 months

That's precisely my point. If you're making ben a recognised contributor then you might as well add half a dozen others. It is just lowering the standard of what a recognised contributor should be.

But have you actually looked around the forum and seen the work he's *contributed* to the forum? That's what the whole term means, it's about your *contribution* to the community - something which he's worked hard to.

I agree im nowhere near their standard but I still contribute to the wildfire s community a lot and spend 70% of my free time developing. Look at me now its quarter to 12 at night and I'm on xda answering questions, making posts and tweeting ideas for roms on twitter.
The reason they are only recognised contributors is because they have only developed one thing, if you ask any xda staff they'll tell you you have to do at least 3 projects.
I really hope I didn't offend you or anything there mate.

They have developed only one thing?You do realize that we would have been lost without alquez and modpunk?(and people behind the scene, whom has been helping them).
They are the ones who developed cm7, and cm9, and brought ICS to our phones.Without modpunk to start the whole project, we would have been stuck on gingerbread.
So, with all due respect, they have done more than you, or anyone else here.

Alquez was the one who helped me start developing in the first place fact is that although they may have done a lot they can't get that status by just working on one project. Xda state that you must have done a majority of just-as-awesome projects.

It's okay. But you didn't get me, I WANT TO MODIFY THE ICS ROM. I DO NOT WANT TO COMPILE IT FROM SCRATCH(Hardest), Plus it's not off-topic, I'll first learn how to modify, then I'll get to know how the "BUILDING YOUR OWN ROM" stuff works.. but anyways, Thanks

You need to know how things work, you need to know to read, write and understand code.
You can't learn it for a few days, it takes years.

Really? I thought modifying an already cooked rom must be easy. :O

This is the scale. Hardest to easiest to do in terms of man hours and log reading to get booting.

He's asking about how to make a custom ROM, which doesn't necessarily mean writing a bunch of code. I've only been "developing" (if you can call it that) for a few months now. I've learnt so much and I'm releasing my first ROM alongside benjamingwynn in the coming weeks.
