So far there is no official CWM Recovery release for the Wildfire S. But there is an unofficial port by alquez that works fine:

zip file method in hboot wont work for the people who have unlocked their device with htcdev.com you will have to do this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL62BUZjmgw
when done the things showed in the video in the above link.
then install rom manager and then in rommanager download the cwm of HTC ARIA
then it will work for you

Stock rom

Hi. Everyone.. !
Before doing anything backup is important. So !. I like to have the stock DHD ROM backup,
How to backup the stock ROM or where will i find the stock ROM.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
if you have CWM recovery, then do a nandroid. You can get CWM recovery by either downloading ROM Manager and flashing the recovery (first option) or flash it through the BootLoader.
Then reboot intoo recovery and go to:
:Backup and Restore>Backup
(i think flashing CWM recovery needs ENG S-OFF, and root privileged)
If your not rooted and dont have S-OFF then you can find official RUUs here - CLICK HERE

I should start paying you, sending all this traffic to my site. I'd think you'd be more effective than a Google AdWords campaign.

Why cant I get the newest CWM on my desire?

I bought a desire from someone.
He had gingervillain on it, but its stock hboot and s-on im assuming
anyway, I have the newest ROM Manager and when I click to flash CWM it downloads and says it flashed version 5.xxx but when I boot to recovery my CWM is always something like 2.0.5.7
I cant boot version 4 or 5 of CWM
u need s-off to flash the recovery with the latest rom manager
anyway the 2.5.0.7 is still one of the best working recovery

No you do not technically need to be s-off. If you have cwm installed just install rom zip from there

In a nutshell, S-OFF means that the NAND portion of the device is unlocked and can be written to. The default setting for HTC’s devices is S-ON, which means that neither can you access certain areas of the system nor can you guarantee a permanent root. Furthermore, signature check for firmware images is also ensured by the S-ON flag.

If you are bootloader unlocked instead of S-Off, you also need to fastboot flash a boot.img after each time you flash a ROM from recovery.

AAHK should work. Dont remember though. But do give this a read. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31211732&postcount=396
If you already have S-Off, you should be able to simply flash a recovery from fastboot and flash a ROM from recovery.

Have a look for a clockworkmod (cwm) download for this model (buzz). Look for version 5.0.2.0 or above as a pc49img.zip download. add it to your sdcard and then reboot to bootloader. Allow it to update. After it is successful take out your sdcard and then reboot into bootloader. Scroll down to recovery and hit power. You should now boot into cwm recovery and be able to flash cm9. Follow the instructions in the cm9 thread for flashing, and remember that controls in cwm and different from when in hboot.

not unless you want your stock rom backup to have root. cm9 is pre rooted and by wiping and removing your stock rom you will have removed any previous rom mods like root. therefore its an extra step thats not needed
to Clarify further most people need to root to flash a custom recovery, but with your current hboot ( which is hacked) you can flash a recovery without root. so you can flash a supersu zip after flashing your custom recovery but its not much use if your just gonna wipe the phone and flash cm9.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60710027 read this post, it has the cwm you need. Just follow the post and you will get cwm installed. Dont follow the numbered steps at the end though they are not relevant to you. Once you install cwm make a back up!
