[Q] R800at root problem - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so the past week or so i have been doing research to root my xperia play. last night i decided im gonna give it a shot i used to have the ascend 2 which had the unlocked bootloader which made things so much easier but with this phone i dont.
The problem i am having is that during any root required program my phone tells me that "app" was not allowed root access.
this happened using the super one click root as well as doomlord v4 any help or ideas?

[Q] can I root + a few questions

Ok. I got my xperia play r800i a few weeks ago. I think it's sim free since I bought it on pay as you go with a T-Mobile sim. I bought it with 2.3.3 but I updated it to 2.3.4 OTA (over the air). My question is that am I still able to root it? I just want to root it to an extent where there are no bloatwares or any hogging apps that aren't needed by me. Can someone tell me the easiest to root the phone for a noob? I've read the thread where it explains what root is but I don't understand why there are many roms/bootloaders and what is a kernal?
Look in Android development forum for xperia play. There is superoneclick and zergrush.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Just use SuperOneClick to root then use Titanium Backup to remove bloat
Oh ok. Thanks. But can someone tell me why there are slot of bootloaders out there and what is a kernel?
And btw, can I update over the air to any future updates if I've rooted?
So if im going to root, then should I use super one click with zergrush or doomlrod? And what's the difference?

bootloaders need to be unlocked toflash new kernels
kernel (Google it)
zergrush and superoneclick are the same basically superoneclick. and. zergrush both use the same exploit for the xperia play.
doomlrod makes customs kernels with overclocking and more
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
but ive read that you can unroot if you root your phone using the doomlrod v3 exploit...
anyways, so should i root with zergrush?
you can unroot your phone using any method.

Is it possible to root Arc with Gingerbreak?

Yo folks! Quick question; can I root my Arc with Gingerbreak?
It looks too easy
Do I need unlocked bootloader? (It isn't a problem, gonna do it anyways at some point, just wondering is it required to do first.)
Thanks!
Use zergRush, you don't have to unlock your BL.
Yes,it is possible.
but try any one of these...

They are even more "easier"..just a matter of some clicks and enters..
Thank you guys! The actual rooting guide looked pretty complicated, and almost every guide the files were located in multiupload, and the site is down so...
Oh yeah, is CWM included in the exploit or do I need to install it later?

Install it via SE Extreme Tweaker or CWM Auto-Installer, if you're on locked BL.

Turn on USB Debugging, download zergRush from XDA, plug in phone, run zergRush. How is that complicated?
William it did not work for me... Even though i did all this... Anyone knows why?
I think unlocking the bootloader is easier

Rooting Xplay?

Hi there,
Is there a way to root the xplay?
I had the .42 firmware and rooted it. Then I deleted all the crap apps.
After a update with PC Companion (with phone there was an issue), my root disappeared and I tried to root it again with DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su but it failed.
Is there a possibility to root it with the actual firmware, or only with .42?
And I wait for the ICS update for my play, can I root it then with ICS?

If you updated to .62, it's unrootable. The exploit we've been using for root doesn't work on Android 3.0+

If u have ur bootloader unlocked it isn't
If you can, flash a custom kernel, such as DooMKerneL, and it will be rooted straight away, and that kernel works on .62 as that is what I am using now
I was also afraid of unlocking my bootloader the first time as I still have a one year warranty one my r800i. However, my dark side is dominant so I unlocked it and then that is when I started modding my Xplay. I almost bricked my phone but thanks to my friend who flashed a new stock rom (hongkong ftf lol). Now, I rarely used my pc hahaha
The .69 Firmware hasn't Android 3.0+
I wait until the update for Andorid 4.0, when it's released, then I maybe unlock my bootloader ~

I was answer both your questions in one line, sorry. It should've looked like this:
The .62 firmware and up are patched for the zergRush exploit. So root is unobtainable without an unlocked bootloader.
Also, zergRush does not work on android version 3.0+, so when ICS comes out, you won't be able to root it without an unlocked bootloader.
Pax.

Not yet. There have been relatively few major cross-device root exploits and ics is still new and relatively unused, until lots of devices have it, I don't really see a new exploit coming out.
Sent from my R800x using Tapatalk
You are still able to flash back to .42, apply ZergRush and then do the OTA, which won't remove your root.
The only downside doing so is the whole backup process since flashing the old .ftf will remove your userdata.

[Q] root xperia play

I bought mt play tomorrow nd updated it to 2.3.4 now I want to root it using doomlord toolkit but in one post I read dat it cant be rooted after updating to any gb after nov 2011 so how can I root my phone now?
Check your firmware version and report back. I'll tell you if it can be rooted. If not, I'll give you the solution.
Sent from a Galaxy far, far away
When I brought it it was 2.3.2 nd after update 2.3.4. build no. 4.0.2.A.0.42
Nd baseband vs. 8x55A-AAABQMAZM-203028D-56
What you can do is downgrade back to 2.3.3 and root. Then get voodoo ota rootkeeper. If you then back-up your root and download superuser, you will be able to ota to 2.3.4 (Make sure to check temp unroot box before ota update)
That's how I got to keep root on mine
Sent from my R800x using XDA
der isnt any other simple method coz i read somewhere dat .62 firmware cannot be rooted but .42 can still be rooted
thnx bt i rooted my play now thnx again for ur reply though
I was going to let you know zergRush will work, but I guess that isn't necessary now.
Like you said, .42 still works.

If ur firmware ver. Is .42 then u can use doomlord's tool kit (zergRush) its easy (one click root) nd if it is .62 den u will have to unlock ur play's bootloader.
hi
i have rooted the xperia play using super one click,
rom manager knows the phone is rooted
titanium also knows
cwm app from play also knows it rooted
i chose the cwm 5 from there.
not sure if the memory card is partioned, but not sure if that is anything to do with it.
when i want to make nandroid on phone it accepts it but it does nt go to

[Q] Help rooting my XPlay with superoneclick!

Hey guys can you help me? I searched everywhere to find a fix about rooting my xplay but unfortunately any of those aren't helping. Now, the problem is when I click "Root" button of superoneclick with my xplay connected to pc on usb debugging mode, it always freezes on "Starting ADB Server". Please help guys. Thanks in advance

Use that doomlord zergrush easy rooting toolkit v4. Read instructions before rooting.

But it needs my bootloader unlocked, right? I tried that too and it stops on that part. My xplay is on 2.3.4 version.
Try this http://fcss.in/z9ers written by me.

No. If your below .62 you don't need unlocked bootloader
Run as administrator and make sure drivers installed also try a different usb port

My laptop don't have any antivirus, but what are those drivers needed? I have Android SDK installed here but I just want to make sure if I missed anything. Still the root isn't working and my XPlay is .42
Also I tried the latest superoneclick on shortfuse.org. Still no good.
Oh finally. Rooted it successfully. Thanks to you guys, especially fma965. I just noticed that there is an advanced tab in superoneclick. Clicked Check Drivers button and installed a missing driver for my xplay. Then, voila! After clicking root button, it proceeds and now my xplay is rooted.
This is a root for the Verizon Xperia Play too correct?

I'm not sure if superoneclick will work on a verizon xplay. But I think it might work just like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414594
He has a verizon xplay too, and his problem is just like mine --- Missing drivers. Go to Advanced tab and click Check Drivers. It auto-installs the missing SEMC-HSUSB driver if im not mistaken. When done, click Root. I hope this helps.
