I'm not thrilled about mine. Its OK, but seems a little much. Just looking to confirm.
This time stamp is inaccurate. Just wondering about the os usage. Anyone else near this?
Without context battery stats can be misleading......
That said your system usage seems high. What ROM are you running? What programs are installed? Is your phone sleeping when the screen is off? What have you already done to trouble shoot the issue? Etc, etc?

Would you mind posting up the other screen. If 85+ % android system is normal then I won't worry about it. Just curious. Battery life isn't terrible. Just seems like a super high number.
I'm on rooted el30. No major mods. Stock kernel. I put a little battery mod w uot kitchen. I leave my data on and GPS . Pretty much everything w sync set out as far as it will go time wise.
Like I said, if high android system is normal for an epic 4g then I won't sweat it...but if most people don't see these numbers then I will Odin and start over haha
I'm on CM7 (stock). After 14hrs of very little usage my Android System is at 2%.
What are your use details on that?
How about someone w a tw based rom. I'm sure aosp will have different readings than tw. Thank you though.
Slightly different yes...drastically different, no.

Looks right to me if you have about 20 minutes of usage and then it depends on what you are doing. Everything reports as Android System in Gingerbread.

Hello,
I know all of you have heard this time and time again. I'm sure I'm going to create a huge battle discussion, which I don't want honestly. But I've searched throughout the forums with no luck, and if I've missed this, please direct me and delete the post. So, with that said, hear me out..
I understand apples iPhone's battery tends to last long because of the not so true multitasking, and there are hundreds of ways to make androids battery life significant.
I was just wondering if there was any ROM, kernel, etc to get rid of the "android true multitasking" to increase battery life. Myself as an android user, never tend to use widgets or really have any use for multitasking anyways. I play on facebook, text, and make calls periodically. Anyone want to chime in without blowing my head off on this one?

Really? Doesn't seem like it would or even that it would increase battery usage since apps have to be restarted every time.
It will definitely free up ram, but that's not really an issue with the GNex.
I should probably also state that I'm on Vicious CM10 w/ stock kernel, and have not yet seen more then 10 hours and 2 hours on screen time.
For my opinion I think depend on lifestyle you use phone

True, but I only use my phone for browsing facebook, xda, and text messaging. I never play games, use youtube, netflix, or any other battery drainer. I also keep 4g off. I would think I could get more then 10 hours and 2 hour screen time with the 2100 mah extended battery (already exchanged for a new, so it's not the battery)
We all love to rag on Touchwiz for being a bloated lag beast and pray for the day we can flash CM to get rid of it. However, there is a way to compare stock Touchwiz vs stock Android on two devices with exactly the same hardware specs and surprisingly, the difference is not that significant.
The takeaway is that Touchwiz seems faster loading video while stock Android is faster loading web content - I have a theory for this based upon how Touchwiz parses javascript, but that's another thread . On a benchmark basis the two are within a few hundred points of each other.
Anyway, here is an interesting video of a guy testing the S4 Play Edition (pure Android) vs the S4 Touchwiz Edition, both all stock and brand new with no rom optimizations or debloating. It's interesting and shows that while stock Android may be a bit faster overall, the difference is far less than one might have imagined. Of course the results may be different on the Tab S.
Nice, but surprising report. Guess the skeptics will need something else to complain about.

If only those 2 models were comparing Exynos vs Snapdragon.....then we would have a better understanding.
But I can say for sure, in daily use, Touchwiz is noticeably slower than stock.

The thread is about TOUCHWIZ Vs ANDROID not Exynos vs Snapdragon. In this test anyway there doesn't appear to be much difference between the 2 running on the same platform. YMMV.
Apparently, Kitkat 4.4 introduced aggressive cpu throttling at much lower temps than prior Android versions. This may be something that is causing slowdowns you have perceived with prolonged use. While this increases battery life, it crushes performance. Fortunately a good kernel should be able to address this. In this case the hardware is fine, it is the OS which is screwing things up. I guess Google saw that people care more about battery life than blazing performance.
Anyway, here is the article. Interesting.
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/sa...at-performance-cpu-throttling-dvfs,26414.html
Again this is for the S4. Not sure how it applies to the Tab S.
Here is a thread by a dev who was able to disable the DVFS throttling on the s4. He claims that is to blame and not KitKat directly. Will research to see if thee is anything similar for the Tab S.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674928
Ok, I see that using Wanam Xposed you can disable Samsung DVFS in Advanced Settings. No idea if this works on our Tab S but I disabled it and nothing seemed to break on reboot. This should not increase benchmarks, just stop excessive throttling. One would guess you will see better performance and worse battery life.
We'll see.

Hi Mitchell, did the battery life turn out worse?
Still deciding whether to root my tab our not (root loses a tv streaming program in belgian which is quite handy)
All I have to say is load up my alpha rom and see for yourself. It's like the difference between a tablet that came out this month (CM) and a tablet that came out three years ago (TW) performance wise.
I've gone from thinking about selling it to wondering how many years its going to be before they can produce a tablet that makes me want to upgrade.

Yes and this is one reason why I get sick of people moaning about battery life all the time. It's a mobile device constrained by current technology and what size battery can be squeezed in.
Yet people still expect 3 days battery, super duper speed and a nice slim light device.
For me I accept the limited capabilities of a battery in a mobile device and think they do a pretty good job as it is.
I want a mix of performance and battery, but I'll gladly sacrifice a bit of battery life for a lag free , smooth device.
However the more people moan about battery life the more the scales will tip to battery life at the cost of performance.
I would be willing to except a tablet a mm thicker to have a bigger battery

Hi Guys,
I am really new to this forum and I deeply apologise if this thread or subject matter has been opened numerous times.
However, I am just somewhat really puzzled as to how amazing the spec this phone is. I just loving it apart from two things. The battery could be better but hey with all that juice and cpu it needs to run that beast of a screen its understandable. However, the ultimate thing that bugs me is how it gets incredibly laggy at times when hoping from an app back into the home screen.. Especially in games or Facebook.. Has anyone experienced this issue?
I have rooted my LG g3 too and I have also turned the developer options on in which I have decreased the transition times from the default settings to off or 0.5 for few of the minimise options..
I just hoping anyone can help or have ideas?
Thanks so much
By no means am I trying to be rude, but if you search around a bit, you will see that this is apparently an issue just about everyone has.

There are 2 theories. 1 is that the software isn't optimized and is causing lag. 2. It takes more resources to draw the QHD display, therefore the phones CPU and GPU is having to work harder than an HD display and this is causing lag.

I couldnt agree more in regards to the QHD screen. I just hope that can flash Stock Android on to the device or just install something that is different.
Apparently I heard there was rumours that the screen could be decreased to 1080p?
Instead of crying, just got to the hidden menu and enable 60fps in the dynamic lcd refresh menu.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard. I own a Nexus 10, a two year old tablet with the same resolution as our G3. It has a dual core processor, running 1,7Ghz. And guess what, it is smooth as hell. Even smoother than my G3, like a lot. And I don't like it... But once the bootloader gets unlocked we could probably see the G3 running flawlessly with Android L.

I am sorry to disappoint but some people are not as fortunate to have the intelligence that other have and as life has evolved, so will my knowledge as time goes by in having my phone...
I have been a LG G3 user for month and 2 weeks so far. First android phone. From an avid iPhone 4 user since it came out...
I'd greatly appreciate if people could respect me and help me rather than slate me for my 'noob' questions...
Other than that thanks to everyone who has shared light with me and who can continue to provide amazing advice.
After boundless and endless search, i have after hours of tedious trail and error managed to flash the leaked firmware 10j that i see floating about on the forum on my D855 and noticed a slight decrease in lag.. I have also changed the runtime from Dalvik to ART.. Which made a slight increase in speeds...
Aside from that can anyone please give extra tips and personal tweaks they done to boost there performance?
Thank you ever so much!:good:

First I'd like to apologize for all the rude people around here. Sorry buddy.
Second there are many things you can do to make your phone faster and lag free.
I copied this from the post here to make it easier for you.
Open the dial pad, then type the following number, choose one code that matches with your device model:
- 3845#*855# (Intl)
- 3845#*851# (TMo)
- 3845#*850# (AT&T)
- 5689#*980# (Sprint)A hidden menu will be showing up, scroll down till you find “High Temperature Property”.Tap it, then*turn it ON.
Now find thermal daemon mitigation and turn it on either. switch off your phone, and wait for about 15 seconds.Next,*turn it on*again, when you see screen lock, wait at least 35 seconds.Enjoy your lag-free LG G3.
Third, I advice you to change the launcher. I suggest nova since it's full of customization and really light.

Install it play around with for a while. It's easy to customize it the way you like.

Thanks ever so much for your amazing support and suggestions.
I have managed to do the sugggested list that you mentioned. I just realised a new issue with my phone that I really am surprised about now. I charge my phone at 100% and within 2 hours I have lost a good 30% of my battery within a space of 2 hours.. By having the phone on just locked.. All recent apps closed. Its a strange issue. I dont know why all of a sudden.. I can see in the battery menu that andriod os and android system are taken up about 47% and the display taking 35%...
Im sorry to branch from one issue to another but I dont really know what to do. And I am really worried in doing factory reset and losing my data. I am having to charge my phone in space of 2 times in a day.. doesnt make sense.
Thanks so much

Can you post a screen shot of your battery stats so we can see what's using the most battery? It could be a rogue process killing the battery.
There is probably some app eating your battery. Try to post a screenshot of you battery stats. To do so press power button and volume down at the same time and hold them for a second.
Any way, Apart from the battery issue, how's the smoothness?
As you can see in mine I'm off the battery for 3 hours. Haven't used the phone e so far since I'm home playing battlefield 4. Still at 100 %.
At first the battery drains a lot faster when in a new rom, the it settles.
But in your case it is draining way to fast.
Restart your phone, give it a full charge and let it rest for an hour. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks guys for your response, I am really shocked as to why my battery is just eating up soooo fast like that... You can see from the graph in the screenshot that it just plummets down sooo fast within hours..My screen brightness is set at 50% without no auto brightness and I don't really have much apps running.. Im really bemused as to whats going on?
I removed the battery for a while and I also restarted my phone.. This is a MASSIVE improvement because the Android OS and Android System was both taken up a good 40% and screen 30%.. but even with the stats shown I'm still reducing significant amount of battery..

Beautiful widgets is an old favorite with a lot of widget options and customization. Or you could always go with something like Zooper, where sky's the limit only bound by your imagination.
