[Q] Best weather app with good looking widgets? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, I'm looking for a weather app that has accurate temperatures and widgets that don't suck.
Using Yahoo weather atm but temperature always seems a bit low and the number of wakelocks it reports is scaring me.
Transmission sent from my LG G3.

i like these two

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devexpert.weather&hl=en

Trying them out now.
Anyone else want to chime in?

Beautiful widgets is an old favorite with a lot of widget options and customization. Or you could always go with something like Zooper, where sky's the limit only bound by your imagination.

For me this one is the best so far - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Elecont.WeatherClock&hl=en

The one I'm using now. Really good. I even bought it

Circuitry wallpapers ...

Hi,
I read about Circuitry live wallpaper here:
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/01/1...n-into-a-stylish-circuit-board/#disqus_thread
And I am wondering if anyone has non-live version?
Or similar one?
It looks very nice and blackish, but I dont like the live one as it tends to suck battery life.
Thanks for sharing

I'm using the live one, doesn't seem to mess with battery life...just makes swiping between screens a little sluggish. Had same problem on Galaxy tab. Is there a way to mess with setCPU to fix this?

[App] Battery Core Live Wallpaper

Just released another live wallpaper. This wallpaper is tells how much battery you have left, voltage, temp and status. The spinning core will spin faster when you have full battery and slow down when your battery level gets lower. Also included are some particle effects. There's a few customization on the free version and more in the paid version. Its been optimized to use as little ram as possible and update cycles were slowed down to drain less battery. Tested on nexus 4, nexus 7, galaxy s2, galaxy s3 and lg g2x. Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 were my primary test devices so it should work pretty good on them. Check it out.
8-16-2013: Updated to allow users on the free version to get all features of the paid version by completing simple free offers. Download it for more info. Also, some bug fixes.

Is there any chance to add a setting for fahrenheit for the temp?

Well, I got bored. So I added in ability to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit. I just uploaded them so it should be available in a couple of hours.
Where is the setting, I couldn't find it.

In the battery text section. Its just a check box to switch to farhenheit or else its Celsius.
I updated the app. It should be available in a few hours. Thanks for all the feedback, compliments and complaints. If you have some cool core ideas that you'd like me to include, I could try that. Only catch is, I have to be able to create it myself....but I'll credit you in the app though.
New updates includes:
* Move text to top of battery core
* Cleaned up settings menu
* Adjust glow effect color on battery core(paid version only)
* Glow effect of battery core changes color on low battery, user sets low battery point
Just bought it, awesome lwp

Published another update. This time I think the 2 new cores, Core Type3 and Core Type 4 are pretty cool. Also added in some more particle shapes.
I added another update. Somehow, in my last update I got Core 2 mixed up with the Arc Reactor. Dont know it anyone noticed. There's been a lot of complaints about home screen lagging. So with this update, I hope to fix some of it.
App updated.
Love this LWP, reminds me of the Arc Reactor from the Iron Man suit.

[App] Battery Core Live Wallpaper

Released a few days ago but there were some bugs for the Spring GS3 versions so I didn't post it here. I think I have the bugs have been worked out and should worked pretty good on the GS3 for sprint. This wallpaper tells you battery information. At full charge the core will spin the fastest, as your battery depletes, the core will spin slower. There are some particle effects but can be turned off. Its just a simple live wallpaper, nothing too flashy. Download and check it out.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qk.batterycorelwfree
Screen shots are from nexus 4, but should look pretty similar. I didn't get a chance to do a screen shot on the GS3 due to it not being mine and only had a certain amount of time with it.

That is rad. Going to try it out now.

installed and using now! i usually dont go for live wallpapers as they drain your battery, but this is (as the previous post very adeptly stated) pretty damn rad!

LG gpad general lag

So I recently purchased a bargain priced g pad here in the UK. I am currently an Ipad air owner(boooo) but wanted to get an Android tablet and this seemed like my best option. But I have to say that I am really disappointed as it it laggy as hell and the battery life is pretty poor.
Is this normal or am I the proud owner of a dud? The lag occurs in stock launcher and apex. It also happens in browsers, namely chrome, Uc and dolphin. It even lags when browsing threads on tapatalk.
I have factory reset it and no joy. I am outside the 7 day return period and so kind of need to fix the issue if poss.
Thanks in advance for any help that can be given

I own LG GPad 8.3 as well, and I don't see any lags, it is working as normal. even games are running smoothly. I don't know why is it lagging on your tablet.

I find my g pad smooth as well and no issues. Very happy with speed. Now my galaxy s3 phone, that is laggy and looking forward to next upgrade
Im pretty surprised with how much people are getting lags.. even with stck unrooted out of the box i dont get these lags.. although i knew it can perform better.. for the people with lags try rooting and installing the malladus custom rom.. suped up stock rom with most of the lg software in tact..... as stated in that forum the way the stock rom should run.......... much smoother when running anything and everything...... try it out..
Ran pretty smooth stock

Thanks for the replies, I may have to go down the root path then as a test, other than the lag and slightly poor battery life it is a good tablet for sure

I've also observed some stuttering while using my V500 (especially scrolling webpages).
The best way to test this is to choose image from gallery, zoom in and drag it around furiously
Sometimes its smooth and works as supposed to, but most of the times after a second or two it stops responding to finger movements.
No idea what to do. I like LG stock rom, but this is a deal-breaker for me
I have experienced really bad lag playing jetpack joyride. Anyone else experience this? Running stock.

I rooted mine and installed cyanogenmod as soon as I got it home. The stock ROM isn't great, getting almost vanilla Android on it makes for a much nicer and snappier tablet

add the task manager widget, how much Free RAM is there when it lags?
I'm usually at 600-730 free RAM and the only time it lags is when closing out a game and quickly launching email or Chrome app from home screen.

Is there any other app that lets one fix the black levels? The G Pad without any fixing of the black levels isn't that great for watching shows, movies or playing games where details often can be found in the darker areas. And trading better black levels for more lag (or having to use the Performance governor isn't great). I even noticed watching shows with Screen Adjuster made the FPS a bit jittery (like it's missing frames here and there).

That is not a lag, that is either defective digitiser or drivers within software. Ive got exactly the same issue on mine, suddenly it just stops responding when dragging my finger across the screen like it was not touched.

Hm, please inform me if the new unit also has this issue. I was wondering if this is hardware or software problem, as it's not constant, sometimes digitizer works great.

New one is definitely working better, however it still feels like it misses touches every once in a while. That could be a software issue though, it was with my Nexus 7 2013.

I just had digitizer replaced by LG service center. New one works great, no problems at all. So it was a hardware issue after all, like michal_alton suggested.

This phone is running slow, what is going on?

Coming from the G2 I thought this phone would be much quicker but it has been struggling. I haven't even installed all of my apps yet, and it's already really slow. Multitasking on this phone is not that much faster than the G2 for me. Maybe it is the stock launcher?
Also the Smart Lock is really iffy. Sometimes it doesn't work when I am at home, I think it's because it takes a couple of seconds for it to realize I am at home. Other times when I am out to it doesn't lock it when it should be.
Going to wait until I can root it and hopefully with some changes it gets better. At this point I am really disappointed by the performance. Just as I was typing this and listening to Spotify the phone is lagging while I am trying to turn up the volume.
I find the G2 is still a power house. Perfomance is not that different. I was a bit disappointed in the difference. Aside from the bigger screen, camera, and form factor, it doesnt really seem that different.
Supoosedly there are some background services hogging resources. LG came out and said it was the LG keyboard. Others reported disabling the MultiWindow feature also helps.
It isnt a huge upgrade but I believe it is just initial quirks that need ironing out.
I noticed that my g4 was running slow when I had an SD card installed. It runs smoother without one.
Coming from the Note family, I can say this phone is on par with the Note 4/Edge in terms of performance for day to day activities, with significantly better battery life. My G4 is fast, performs really well with minimal lag. The only lag I noticed is when using the LG keyboard. I installed SwiftKey and my phone now is (almost) lag free. You might need to reset your phone and see if that helps, as I see a lot of members here got their G4 issues resolved after a good fresh restore.
There are 20 other threads with same topic.

I always factory refresh from the store because they typically skip the initial setup steps. My G4 was acting crazy before that. My friend got a G4 new deliver and set it up herself and has been acting fine. Maybe one of the background apps is constantly looking for a skipped response and eating resources.
Thanks for the replies. As for this being posted before I didn't see it and I wanted to explain my experience / specifics.
I might try the factory reset and see if that helps. As for the sd card it would be hard to remove because it's the main reason I upgraded the phone. Also going to turn off multi window, I don't use it anyway.
Do you use Lastpass?
First thing I noticed after I had my first S6 was how slow the G4 was compared to it. Back on my S6 and couldn't be happier.

Odd, I felt my G4 was getting pretty laggy using Google Now Launcher and switched back to the LG Launcher, which has been perfectly smooth and lag free for me so far.
I have an S6 as well that I had for a month before the G4 and it is definitely faster and smoother (except in Chrome), but I love the larger screen and awesome manual camera controls on the G4. Tough decision for sure. If the G4 was as fast and smooth as the S6, it would be no contest for me, G4 all the way. Still leaning towards the G4 though. Want to wait for the next update on each before making my final decision about which to sell.

Yea I don't know has worked for me, the battery life is for sure longer, but it's all negligible, it may be the phone just settling in, I am hoping that LG will come out with a minor update to address some of the lag and other issues, the s6 is faster though, it also has a faster processor and better GPU. but I feel the camera, screen size, design, Expandable memory and a few other things make it worth it, free extra battery and SD doesn't hurt either.

Thank you for all of your suggestions. To the person who asked about lastpass, I don't use it on my phone, love using it on the PC.
I disabled multi window and it has made it a tiny bit faster. Still lagging way more than a 2015 flagship should during normal operation.
I want to install nova launcher but I spent a lot of time setting up folders in the stock app drawer, not fun to set it up all over again.
The S6 is definitely faster than our phones, but as mentioned there are other attributes of the G4 that mean more to some of us. Still, I think this phone should be faster than what I am experiencing. Instead of the free battery promotion I wish they had spent the money on the processor or further optimization.
Turn on force gpu rendering and use google keyboard. Will make your life easier.

Nova can instantly import the folders, CMIIW. shouldn't be a problem
I tried importing but I don't think nova allows folders in the app drawer, didn't work for me. Also by using nova I lose the stock calendar widget that shows the month view with events on it, it has been like this forever, maybe there is workaround?
Definitely laggy. Coming from a faster Note 4. It blows my mind and aggravates me so much when a brand new phone can lag like this. Maybe it's the Slacker app... But I notice when running this and switching between hangouts.. It'll straight up freeze for 3-5 second sometimes. Note 4 never did this. Hoping a patch fixes this beta.
