[Q] Doomkernel and CM7.2 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to have Doomkernel with CM rom?
And is it normal on CM7.2 to show device name LT15i while I have LT18I?

Yes use DooMKernel for CM7.
And you could change your build.prop to look like LT18i.

Ohh. But how do I do that? Do I need to flash Doomkernel first and then CM7 or Doomkernel and then CM7? Would appreciate a little step by step guide.
I tried both options, and in first I got bootloops and in second my touchscreen wasnt responsive at all.
And how do I edit build.prop?
Sorry for so many question at same time.

You should read one of the many tutorial here on xda, the reason why you got a boot loop is probably because you didn't wipe data, cache and dalvik.
To edit you build.prop, you need root access and a root explorer. Once you got that, you go to /system and you edit the build.prop file.

But now when I find build.prob with my root explorer and edit it with text editor, it lets me save it, but when I reopen, nothing changes. [I got root acces]
NVM. Solved that too. Thanks for answers
EDIT2: Ok, Kernel problem ain't solved. Which one should I flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303635 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172885
Since the for CM7 is for FXP046/7, and I have FX103.

The first link.
It doesn't matter.
Afaik that was a major release after FXP044/045 (correct me if I'm wrong), but either way it should work for newer FXP versions too.

i think you should just use kernel provided from the zip file, while waiting for doom making new version of his doomkernel for cm7,,

DooMKernel is also working for newer release.
Now tested on FXP050 & FXP103 and there are no problems!

All you need is the img, which is already rooted, the ftf is for those with a locked boot loader.

Might be an idea if you do have issues to flash the ftf and wipe user data, but I just flashed the image and haven't had any issues.
Had to do both in the end as WiFi didn't work, all good now though

[Q] CWM with rooted official ICS

Hey,
I have just installed the official ICS todays since its release for UK yesterday. I have now rooted it with DoomLords "android emulator" hack thing. I have also now removed a bunch of system apps which i dont need. And im just wondering if CWM recovery is available for ICS on the arc s yet? and if so, where can i get it?
If you have unlocked bootloader you can install a kernel with pre-installed cwm. If not, there are plenty apps on the market that can do that for you
By 'do that for you' do you mean install cwm recovery, or alternative apps that are similar to cwm? If the latter, do you have any recommendations for any good alternatives?
Kernels with CWM:
Stock with CWM
ArcKnight
DooMKernel

Dunno about plenty either there are lots of apps that install CWM but there is only 1 as far as i know that works on the ARC.
Kernel CWM is always better than the System version tho.
this is my app (installs CWM into System) will work but currently breaks offline charging will fix when i get time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
there are other CWM installers that work from the PC but i dont have the links handy ATM.

[Q] How do i install CWM recovery on arc s running ICS

Hi, i recently upgraded my arc LT15i to an arc s LT18i with ICS, all is working well with no problems. I want to install cwm recovery onto my phone as i want to flash more mods. After looking around i see you need cwm recovery in case it all goes wrong. I have installed rom manger from the market place but when i try to flash cwm recovery it asks if i have installed a cwm based recovery manually ( i haven't) i select no and it tells me that until cwm recovery is available, rom manager will not work with LT18i. Can anyone help or advise. I am fairly new to this flashing business so simple terms please.
Thanks
Phil

xperia cwm auto installer works on 4.0.4
make this
[HOW-TO] CWM on ICS
To have CWM on phone,
For locked bootloader, use Xperia Auto Installer. Can be download at market.
For unlocked bootloader, flash custom kernel with CWM like Stock ICS kernel with CWM, ArcKnight and Doomkernel.
You can search custom kernel here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=965
why so difficult? use the cwm installer kit from doomlord works also on ICS 4.0.4

But it works fine on ics. bare in mind that my app installs cwm into the system recovery. And if you have an unlocked.bootloader your better off getting a kernel with cwm. Or getting the stock kernel with cwm put in to the ramdisk
Oh one note the app will break offline charging. I have a fix.in my thread for it tho and as soon as my pc will compile.apps again I'll release a new version on the market.

[Q] Clockwork or based recovery for Arc S

I have a LT18i, Android 4.0.4 with build .431 and it is rooted and has a locked bootloader. I have looked everywhere for a way to install clockworkmod recovery on it without flashing a custom rom or kernel, but it doesn't seem possible. Next, I tried a clockwork based recovery but only found DoomLord's recovery. But it had LT26i or Xperia S listed as the device so I'm not sure if it would work on mine. Will it? If not, is there any other clockwork based recovery I could install?
try the CWM Auto Installer on Google Play
Download pvyParts' Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market. That should give you access to CWM.
Do keep in mind that it's been reported that the phone doesn't charge if you switch it off; it tends to bootloop. It works fine if the phone is on though. Pvy will be updating the app shortly.
This works well if you want to take Nandroid backups and (or) flash update.zips.
And if you do plan on flashing custom kernels, you would need to unlock your bootloader. For custom ROMs, you're limited to Stock based ROMs till you do decide to unlock your bootloader.
Cheers!

Thank you for your reply. I found a thread about Pvy's installer but there it was stated.that it would only work on Gingerbread 2.3. It wasn't stated so on Google play though. So are you sure it would work on Ics 4.0.4?

[Q] Cannot access CWM Anymore All of a Sudden

I decided to flash some ZIPs and so as usual go to CWM and flash. I've noticed this time it doesn't work, the usual way I do it is pressing the back button, tried the volume down button as well but no luck. Is there any reason why this happened? Could it be because I flashed a new framework recently that added on screen buttons? Or could have it been some modules I flashed to enable USB drives on my phone for stock ROM.
Is it possible to re install it without messing up my phone? I have modified the SystemUI and Framework so I'm not sure if I can. I use a program called RecoverX to install CWM but it only works on stock ROMs, I'm on stock but could the modified Framework make the installation corrupted? I may want to try using X-Parts but it has never successfully installed CWM for me which is why I use RecoverX.
Additional Details

-Stock .587 ROM with on screen buttons enabled
-Locked Bootloader

It should not be the problem of the framework. Not very sure about the USB Drivers though. If you are willing to unlock bootloader, you can flash a stock kernel with CWM and try to flash the zip files again.

Sadly, my bootloader status is unable to be unlocked. I suppose I could always flash back to stock ROM but I don't want to re install and configure everything again. Once I re-flash everything I would probably get the same problem I had in the first place. I cannot make a nandroid back up as well although I did find an app in the play store that will create one for you, although I'd prefer using CWM because it seems much safer. Does anyone know if reinstalling it would damage the phone? I'll try contacting the developer of the program. ,

Not that I know of, since you cannot unlock bootloader. If you could, flashing a kernel with CWM would have done the trick.
