I just recived my replacement evo loaded with 2.1 yay. can i unroot my 2.2 phone to send it back to sprint?
Yeah, just look for the official RUU. It's in here somewhere as people were using it to help update from the leaked .3 release to the official .6

All,
My G2 is having some hardware issues and I am having it replaced. I need to downgrade to Stock 2.2.
I have not been able to find a tutorial to complete this task. I have tried flashing the stock rom however the phone just freezes at the HTC logo...
any ideas how I can downgrade?
Did you flash an older version of CWM (pre 3.x) before flashing the 2.2 rom?
No. Ill do that first. Thanks for the reminder.

is 1.82 required before you can get/detect gingerbread OTA?
im still at 1.34 and not detecting gingerbread OTA. i can detect the 1.82
please help. using unbranded Desire Z
I think so. I've been trying to s-off from 1.7, couldn't manage it so tried upgrading to 1.8 to try one of those methods instead and it then offered me 2.42.161.2, which is Gingerbread. Either this is part of the downgrade process (I doubt it), or it's an OTA.
If you are rooted you can't ota I don't believe. But what's the point if you are? Just use a rooted version of OTA

Purchased a used G2 on ebay - phone was rooted and I believe CM7 installed - clockworkmod came up and I tried to install a custom rom and was only getting white HTC screen.
At this point I really just want the latest official gingerbread 2.3.4 on the phone (even if it means getting an original stock rom then getting the OTA update thru t-mobile). I don't care if its rooted or not. (Picture of HBOOT screen attached below)
What is the easiest and fastest way to do this from what I have on my phone at this point? If I just factory reset from this menu will I still have to get a stock a rom and put it on my sdcard?
Just flash the rooted version from the dev thread dude

Either that or if you don't care about root, flash pc10img of ota gb.

So I flashed the update from pc10img and was wondering if I have to downgrade to root or is there a way to root it now?

2.3.4 isnt rootable right now. you have to use the downgrade thread in the development forum to get to 2.2 then you can root it and flash a 2.3 rom.
