is 1.82 required before you can get/detect gingerbread OTA?
im still at 1.34 and not detecting gingerbread OTA. i can detect the 1.82
please help. using unbranded Desire Z
I think so. I've been trying to s-off from 1.7, couldn't manage it so tried upgrading to 1.8 to try one of those methods instead and it then offered me 2.42.161.2, which is Gingerbread. Either this is part of the downgrade process (I doubt it), or it's an OTA.
If you are rooted you can't ota I don't believe. But what's the point if you are? Just use a rooted version of OTA

I'm running a debranded (via goldcard), running 1.21.405, with radio 04.08. Last attempt at Froyo via SD, failed. Should I root, update the radio to 5+, then attempt Froyo again. Am using hboot v 0.83.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Thanks

Hi,
I just downgraded my branded vodafone device via the tutorial from software 1.75 to generic 1.32. After that wifi worked, I received an OTA to a newer 1.32 software. After that my wifi is broken meaning that it won't turn on. It just says "error" (in Dutch).
What did I do wrong? Can I fix this?
did u do an official OTA, have you got Super CID?
Yes I did accept official OTA after using downgrade method. OTA gave me softwareversion 1.32.405.6 after that wifi is broken.
I don't have changed CID....
Am I semi-bricked?
Ok I managed to get root s-off and i think also super-CID via a tutorial. After that i flashed latest 1.72 WWE ruu, all fine now exactly how i want it. Will i now be able to receive future OTA from HTC?

Just making sure, have you tried rebooting your phone? I've had gingerbreak get stuck a couple of times, a reboot of the phone and another run usually did the trick.
ok lemme try

do i need to gold card? because its regional
i think you have to downgrade 1st before u root it~
Purchased a used G2 on ebay - phone was rooted and I believe CM7 installed - clockworkmod came up and I tried to install a custom rom and was only getting white HTC screen.
At this point I really just want the latest official gingerbread 2.3.4 on the phone (even if it means getting an original stock rom then getting the OTA update thru t-mobile). I don't care if its rooted or not. (Picture of HBOOT screen attached below)
What is the easiest and fastest way to do this from what I have on my phone at this point? If I just factory reset from this menu will I still have to get a stock a rom and put it on my sdcard?
Just flash the rooted version from the dev thread dude

Either that or if you don't care about root, flash pc10img of ota gb.

I don't know about taking the OTA update but there are guides to getting you back to stock GB out there
