I broke wifi - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just downgraded my branded vodafone device via the tutorial from software 1.75 to generic 1.32. After that wifi worked, I received an OTA to a newer 1.32 software. After that my wifi is broken meaning that it won't turn on. It just says "error" (in Dutch).
What did I do wrong? Can I fix this?

did u do an official OTA, have you got Super CID?

Yes I did accept official OTA after using downgrade method. OTA gave me softwareversion 1.32.405.6 after that wifi is broken.
I don't have changed CID....
Am I semi-bricked?

Ok I managed to get root s-off and i think also super-CID via a tutorial. After that i flashed latest 1.72 WWE ruu, all fine now exactly how i want it. Will i now be able to receive future OTA from HTC?

You need a gold card if your phone was branded when you got it
Ok forgot the detAils.
I have an Orange unlocked phone, means I use whatever sim I want. It was ota froyo updated.
I rooted using unrevoked3, so I can get rid of Orange crap, thus the stock rooted froyo ROM from xda was used. But when I try newest WWE stock froyo 2.29 I get this error.
So how come this unmoded stock from xda works without goldcard?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can't, you need a gold card to change to ANY RUU other than the Orange one
Ok ill look into goldcard but why the stock rooted Rom workd from xda.
If I use goldcard OTA will work ? or I need to use goldcard everytime

Because it's a custom ROM, if you want to go to a stock WWE ROM you need a gold card. The OTA might work, you'll need to turn off signature checking in Clockwork Mod, but it likely cause issues
Ok thanks I'm mAking a custom Rom as stock possible now, or will try.

Stock or custom? Either way, glad you're working

desire z GB OTA requirement (1.82?)

is 1.82 required before you can get/detect gingerbread OTA?
im still at 1.34 and not detecting gingerbread OTA. i can detect the 1.82
please help. using unbranded Desire Z
I think so. I've been trying to s-off from 1.7, couldn't manage it so tried upgrading to 1.8 to try one of those methods instead and it then offered me 2.42.161.2, which is Gingerbread. Either this is part of the downgrade process (I doubt it), or it's an OTA.
If you are rooted you can't ota I don't believe. But what's the point if you are? Just use a rooted version of OTA

thanks for the reply. i already applied 1.72 OTA then GB OTA. now rooted and using Virtuous 2.0
very happy.

Preparing Phone for warranty - Removing custom rom /eng-off r-off etc

I Double checked with HTC ITALY and If I send my phone rooted etc then I will not pass through warranty.. soo I need to restore my DHD back to "stock" with root / radio / eng and all stuff back to original settings (and normal rom again).
From what I gathered my steps would be:
1. flash using the HTC program the original rom from their website
2. use visionary to reroot my phone?
3. One click Radio S-OFF tool to reverse that setting
But I'm kind of getting lost on the actual "steps" or sequence, and I'm worried I might brick my phone, could some one give me an updated guide, or just steps to do so I can do this correctly?
I'm sending it in because the home/menu buttons are broken (they lost all their touch sensibility, even under safe mode so its hw and not software).. ><
(i'm running s-off eng-off + Android Revolution HD 6.3.3 right now)
Thank you for your time.
Running the right RUU might do it.

Thanks thekjp. I'll wait for confirmation then do it
After you solve this issue then do let me know .

Just got my dhd from the warranty center yesterday.
I've had a eng s-off, root and unofficial rom (last - blackout ics).
Root and s-off have been obtained with a AAHK tool - so were obtaind and s-on + stock rom.

I have read some other posts who tried to run a ruu but apparently they still had unlocked bootloaders. Run an 1.72 ruu and use jkolo tool

Run the advanced ace hack kit. You'll get both stock rom and S-ON.

I've tried it.
I've sent my phone to the warranty center twice - using AAHK to get stock rom and s-on before it - no problem, the phone was repaired.
All u have to do is to read the instructions first, the process of getting stock & s-on is quite simple - u need to choose a ruu, then choose a CID (if u are going to get s-on) and also confirm u want to get s-on later. That's it.

[Q] Returning to stock? [4.1.2, S-Off, custom splash, etc - need everything stock]

Hi guys,
I've just received my note 2 and will shortly be selling my Desire HD I need it fully returned to stock. How would I go about doing this?
I have a custom splash, Super CID, Eng S-off and a rooted custom rom.
Would flashing an RUU work? And can I flash any WWE RUU (It's a WWE phone) or does it need to match radios or roms or something?
Thanks

Flash a ruu. An unbranded one should be fine. Forget about S-OFF. That should not matter If you don't use it.

Thanks for the reply - I'm selling it though and want it to be totally stock so that no one can complain at me or say if it breaks that it's cause it was S-Off'd - so I do need to make it S-On. Do I do that before or after flashing an RUU?

You'll probably receive it soon.
I didn't pull out the ota file before the update, but even if I did, it would probably work on O2 devices only.
So I guess it's better to wait for the right ota for your device.
Just for reference, my software number is 2.19.207.3 after the update.
