Hey guys,
Back to making vids! Sorry for the month-long break!
Got my hands on the Incipio Silicrylic for the Galaxy Nexus, this is a two-piece hybrid style case that features a hard plastic exterior with a soft silicone interior. Fit on the phone is perfect and all cutouts are accessible, this case offers a decent level of protection for everyday use and is quite stylish as well. Check out the full review for all info!
Video Review:
nice video mate keep it up
Welcome! I've got a review on the SGP Ultra Capsule coming up soon as well. Stay tuned for that.
Good review. I'm glad you mentioned the gap at the back (something I noticed with my own Sylicrilic, on my GSM phone) and the flimsy sides, which really bugs me. I wish they extended a 1 cm small section of the plastic over the sides which would have helped control this problem.
Looking forward to the capsule review (I'm considering that case). Please mention if the case follows the contour display along the front, and if there is a gap on the back for the GSM version, similar to the Sylicrilic.

Thanks for the feedback! I've posted the review of the capsule case now - I didn't exactly mention about the contour display, but I did mention that there is great attention to detail with regards to case construction, and it does follow the curved display.
On a GSM version without extended battery there is a very, very, very! slight gap, which does not bother me at all. I'm using the case with the extended battery and it fits a little tight, but I prefer it that way.
Hope I helped! Thanks for being a viewer!
i got this case today with the verizon version of the phone. im also using the extended battery. but i am not using the battery cover since i didnt like the gaps on the side. is it safe to use the phone without the battery cover and just the case?
Can confirm there is no gap on the VZ version (and it's all black instead of two-tone). Had it for several days and works wonderfully.

I wouldn't say it is safe, but you should be fine for the most part. The only issue I see arising is if you were to drop the phone, it could cause the battery to move and turn off the phone.
Does anyone know of a belt clip that works with this case?

thanks for the review man.
the awful flimsy sides really ruined it for me. i actually had this case on order from amazon for $20 , and canceled it after seeing this review. the edges of the front flapping aroundlike that looks terrible compared to some of the much tighter fitting tpu cases.
glad i read this forum occasional as that gave me the heads up to get the cruzer lite case for half the cost.
Thank you for taking the time to do a review. Wish I had watched it before getting this case. The look is great but I have trouble getting the plastic secured to the rubber part of the case. However, it will work with the Samsung 2100 mAh extended life battery, and it has taken quite a bit of abuse from me, so it is doing its job.

So the first thing I noticed was that this is not a slider, but a front-and-back snap case. The product description says "Unique snap together design and opening slot makes putting on and removing your case easy" but for some reason thought it was a slider like the Surface II for the Captivate. So, it's not their fault I misunderstood.
Since the front bezel cover is so thin, my initial impression is that it seems a little flimsy. The back cover is also quite thin and has no lining like other Seidio cases. I think this was a conscious decision in order to keep the case as slim as possible. The fit is quite precise, so I don't think the lining would really make much difference as there is no movement within the case.
Although the front bezel piece seems flimsy at first, it feels quite sturdy once you snap it to the back cover. I do have some concerns the clips that snap together will wear down over time if you remove the cover frequently. Only time will tell on that point.
It has Seidio's "signature soft touch finish" which is like a somewhat rubberized matte texture. It's quite nice, but attracts prints if you have oily fingers.
Overall, the fit is pretty much perfect and the cutouts are precise. It's very thin and has a nice texture. Of the six cases I have, it's certainly the nicest. It does, however, cost about as much as the other five cases combined - $29.95.
At $19.95, I'd probably recommend it in a second. At $30 I have some reservations, namely the long term durability of the clasps that keep the two pieces together.
Vibrant case wont work
should be gettin mine tomorrow....
i think they have 6 month warranty which actually does work. thats another big plus with this company.

Good to know. Hopefully won't have to use it.
Thanks for the review.
I'm still sticking to my white mesh case. I like really light and almost-not-there type of cases.
Thanks for the review, mine should be here within a day or so.
I ordered using the coupon code XMAS15 that was posted here. Not certain it's still valid though as the poster said it may expire on the 19th.
To the OP, how does the phone feel in your hands compared to what you had previously?
Also, did your volume buttons ever rattle? This is my only hesitation as the silicone case from t-mobile prevents the rattles I have from the volume rocker (which is loose).

For reference, I've had TPU's, hybrid TPU/Plastic (the one with hard clear back), a generic version of the Barely-There, and a flexible plastic perforated case (XMatrix Cover from DayDeal).
The added size and weight is similar to the XMatrix perforated case. It's not as slim as the Barely-There style cases, but I think it's definitely lower profile than TPU or silicone.
The finish is nearly the same as the Barely-There knock off I have, but seems a little more durable (the coating on the old case started to come off within days). It's smooth, almost suede-like, but has a bit of tack when held in the hand. When put on a smooth surface, like a desk or on wood trim in a car, it does not stick at all. This is a bit of a negative for me. One thing I like about TPU cases is that they kind of stick when you lay them on a smoother surface (I usually put my phone on the wood trim next to the gear shift in my car) but are not tacky otherwise.
As for the volume buttons, mine are not loose so I can't really comment on that issue.
One other thing I've noticed in the last few days of using the case, is that bezel cover is attached to the bottom part in only a few spots so there is some give in the areas that aren't clipped together. I think they should have added a couple more contact points on each side. It's not terrible, but I'm a bit OCD so it probably bothers me more than it would most other people.
I'll report back, should be here anytime now.. thanks man.
Case is good, very slim and feels good in hand, not perfect like other Seidio products. Like the review states, the case is NOT slide-on which sucks. I dont know why they used clip-on design, with slide-on case could have been even slimmer and more durable. Fit is also nice, but also not perfect, phone is just a little loose in case, not noticeable right away until you play with it.

After waiting around for the SGP Slider, I was also hoping this would be a sliding case.
I did get to hold a Captivate with the Innocase II, which is a slider, and the fit was pretty awful. It moves around a ton compared to this front-back type. I guess I'll take this style and more precise fit over slider with a bad fit.
Is it the bump on the Vibrant that is the main issue with a slider?
I was a bit let down to find this was a snap on the front/back design.

it is nice and clean. my nexus one case fits better, but they probably had to make it clip-on design i guess for Vibrant bump
Nice review! I can't help but feel like Seidio threw this product together in a hurry, after they realized there are people with Vibrants. It just looks cheap compare to their other offerings.
Just got it. initial impressions:
1 feels great in the hand. Looks good too.
2 I absolutely hate how easy it un-snaps.
3 I want to know their return policy till they have a legit case like the ones I am accustomed too from seidio.
4 it's much more difficult to press power now.
EDIT: okay, found out how to do the return, just waiting to hear back from them.
Hi,
I'm waiting for my Samsung Galaxy S II to arrive in the mail that I just bought on Ebay for $770 CAD. I was wondering what were the best cases available that won't detract from the phone's, 'sexyness'. Here are a few cases I thought looked nice on Ebay:
Barely There Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...00292&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2449wt_1115
Leather 'Wallet' Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...58999&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_3824wt_1115
Mesh Case:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Samsung-Genuine-...Accessories&hash=item2a119b4aec#ht_4050wt_957
Does anyone know what would be the best case for what I'm looking for? I'm focused on quality and looks rather than the price.
UPDATE: I just read the thread rules that stated "no advertising of any kind". Please note that I am not advertising these products. I am only posting them here for comparative purposes, with no intention to sell any products.
UPDATE 2: I bought the "barely there TOUGH" case. It was a little more expensive than the average case (I think it's going for 30 on ebay as of dec 16) but let me tell you, it is probably the only case you'll ever need for this phone. It feels like my phone is wearing a badass suit while still lookin fresh. Buy this case. You'll love it.

barely there and mesh case are similar..both are slim ,light.. both look perfect..
mesh case has holes that might help on heat transfer from the phone, and can be removed much easier than the barely there case..
both do not cover top and bottom of the phone(barely there protects about 0.5cm more)..
in terms of the two in my opinion mesh case is better,,
the other case protects much more..but makes your phone extra large..
its a matter of personal taste
I like the mesh case, but I doubt these cases will protect the phone from any falls. I really like the Rearth case, and the mesh case. I'm waiting now for a Case-Mate Pop case I'm going to review, which will be out in august or september as I was told from CM. The best thin cases? I really REALLY like the Rearth case. I reviewed it just yesterday, check out my sig for that. The Mesh case, which I also own, are very good, and leave the phone all sexy ... The CM cases, I don't like the barely there case series. I don't know why. It makes it look too plain.
ive got the mesh case in black look great on the phone and as already stated really easy to take on and off but it does collect dust and dirty under it like a magnet. plus probably not much protection if dropped
I've got the casemate tough n it is nice, stops dust n grease, would defiantly protect from a fall. However the phone gets stupidly hot n stays hot for ages. Just ordered a mesh case to see how that goes

I have the samsung mesh in white and it collected dust under it like nobodys business! It looks sooo sexy though! Solution? I ordered a Zagg maximum protection and installed it on the back and sides... Like stated before, the case is so easy to put on it wrapped right around it perfect and you cant even tell its there. So i am totally protected (from scratches) and still look sexy and slim.

I don't feel comfortable with the hard plastic cases, as they tend to harm the phone body after sometime..

Thanks guys,
I think the Ottercase looks the best so far, as it seems to have the most protection. My only concern is that it may make the phone look too bulky.
Any experience with these cases?

I've got both the Casemate barely there and the genuine mesh case (black with italic S character).
Both are thin, lightweight and adds a better grip without making it difficult to put the phone in and out of your pocket (I use tight pants ). In fact they are very similar, but the barely there has a bit more matte color, and is a tad more gray when compared to the completely black mesh case. Also the mesh case feels a tad better in the hand, and is easier to take on and off (it still sits firmly on the phone).
As you are talking about keeping the sexiness of the phone, I would recommend the mesh case But they both are good, so you won't be disappointed either way.

Thanks for your input Hrti!
I heard a few other people saying that the mesh case doesn't quite cover the whole entire phone. And while the 'sexyness' is a huge factor, I am more concerned about keeping the phone completely protected. Cuz I'd be devastated if anything ever happened to my baby. lol.
Keep the suggestions coming!

Got mesh case, now back using the case mate tough. Not sure what the mesh cases point is, top n bottom completely exposed, its a dust magnet. My phone dropped from the arm of the sofa and it came clean off. I suppose it does look nice but if that's the main concern and you're not bothered about the non protection it provides you may as well not have a case. That's just my opinion anyway

Thanks for writing that - I dropped my phone last night indoors on a carpet, and I've always used the mesh case - but it popped straight off and the phone and the case were about a meter apart when they settled.... (phone was fine btw). It got me thinking if I dropped that on concrete or something it'd be pretty badly damaged!
Was looking at the case mate tough - and it's not till I just read your post now that it's convinced me to get one!

I'm not really prepared to give a full review of this case yet since I just put it on today and haven't "lived" with it for very long, but I wanted to go ahead and post some pics for anyone who might be interested. These pics are of a Galaxy Nexus LTE with extended battery. I believe it's designed to fit the LTE with standard battery, but it fits just fine with the extended battery.
What I can tell so far -- the glossy/gel part of this case is rubbery and sticks to hard surfaces, but doesn't seem to stick to fabric/clothes so i don't think it'll be a problem getting in and out of pockets. The matte part is like a textured plastic -- very smooth and not sticky at all. The gel fits around the front and sticks up only a fraction above the screen like it's supposed to, so you can lay it face down and the screen won't touch the surface. Anyway, here are the pics.
If I'm missing any angles that anyone wants to see, let me know and I'll take more pics. I'll try to add some more opinions about this case after I've carried it around a little.
how flexible is the case?
Thanks for sharing large photos, it really helps to show the fit of the case. Think I'll go ahead and order one.
For those who have a different case, it would be nice to see those cases posted in a similar fashion.
I have this case too and I believe it was molded to fit the GSM version. I've had both versions of the phone and it fit the GSM version perfectly. The Verizon version (even without the extended batt) does not fit quite right. You can see it clearly in your 4th pic how it bulges out and does not hug the edges of the screen area properly. I also don't care for the button areas, as they are both enclosed and make it difficult to locate the buttons by feel.
Thanks. I just picked up one in green and it seems to fit fine over the extended battery. I am still able to find the power button because it has a different texture than the rest of the side.
It will probably take a few days to see if it is better out worse that the gel I got at Verizon. So far, so good. And it was on sale!

@halo0: yes, i can tell this case wasn't made for the extended battery, and i can see what you're talking about in picture 4, but i don't notice any bulge in actual use, and i'm pretty anal about my cases.
also, like @VivianC mentioned, it's easy to find the power and volume buttons by touch because of the difference in texture.

My case was around £3 and is IDENTICAL to the pictures above and this link.
Don't spend more than $10/£5 on this case.
The reason why I am getting rid of this case is because it makes the screen/sleep button quite weird to press. (However, having this case for nearly a month you get used to it)
Sadly, lint and dirt collects easily around the lip of the case where it touches the screen.
There are NO issues with this case pulling up the screen protector edge. (I've read how someone said cheap TPU cases sometimes do this)
Does provides good protection for small knocks and drops! - Dropped my phone on wood floor twice and was well protected!
Got these on amazon for 8 each.green one for my girl black for myself. Barely noticeable and I actually think it fits better with the extend battery than the standard, mine (with extended battery) just feels better than hers without. Good skin, very pleased with it

I have three different colors (red, clear, and black) of this case and I have to say I am very pleased with them. They were made for the GSM version but they still fit pretty good with the CDMA's. (Small buldge that was previously mention) Paid $5 for the red and the clear one. $8 for the black one. I'd recommend it for those prices.
I've got this and I really don't like the button covers. They're to stiff for my liking. Amazon carries this for $9.99 with two screen protectors and a micro fiber pouch.

This case is pretty nice, I have the Diztronics Matte Case and this far superior.
EDIT: It appears I messed up with adding images, so I provided direct links to a Picasa album under the corresponding text.
First off, I'd like to point out its design.
https://picasaweb.google.com/103360287160249925033/GNexTPUCaseReviewImages#5694664838498885570
This case uses a combination of three forms of TPU.
The back uses two, and the side has the third. From the photo, the majority of the back is matte with a gloss design on the side of the back.
Now for the TPU on the actual sides on the phone:
https://picasaweb.google.com/103360287160249925033/GNexTPUCaseReviewImages#5694666212754847586
It's a nice textured form of TPU that provides a great amount of grip without making the phone impossible to slide in and out of a pocket or gather dust like silicon. It may just be that I'm fourteen, but I always found the Galaxy Nexus a bit slippery, or maybe it's because of this the darn phone gets, which looks great but isn't entirely practical.
The case itself doesn't add much to the size of the phone, but it provides decent, and very eye catching protection.
https://picasaweb.google.com/103360287160249925033/GNexTPUCaseReviewImages#5694664844600398466
The back of the case is also raised near the camera to prevent scratches that phones like the EVO were plagued with.
https://picasaweb.google.com/103360287160249925033/GNexTPUCaseReviewImages#5694666188166111906
The volume buttons get a dedicated cover, as expected, but makes them feel mushy, but they're really small to begin with.
The cutouts on the phone are pretty big and shouldn't have any issues, and there is also a double-holed thing at the bottom for lanyards.
https://picasaweb.google.com/103360287160249925033/GNexTPUCaseReviewImages#5694666177130719426

I ordered a clear one from amazon for $1.75. My old smoke TPU case was turning a bit yellow so I ordered this to replace it for a while. I'll post pics if anyone is interested.
Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing that thanks
Hey guys, bought this case last week, It is for the i515, but fits the i9250 perfectly!
I really like this case, and it offers tons of protection! Great fit on my GSM Nexus, both with and without the extended battery. Is ridiculously tough feeling, I'm very comfortable having phone on this case, and would trust it to protect my phone in a fall!

Update! The silicone section of this case seems to be a bit of a dust magnet!
Hi, This might sound a little strange, but anyways.. Can you measure the space from the back inside of the holster to the inside front of the 2 side parts that hold the phone in the case and give me the measurement please. I have ordered another hybrid case and I would like a holster to go with it and this one looks like it might fit. I just need to make sure it is large enough for my case to slide into it. Here is the case that I ordered: Well I guess I do not have enough posts to post the link so the case I ordered is item #: 280817618109 on eBay.
Thanks!
