I think that's just the icon that let's you know USB debugging mode is enabled. Some roms disable the icon as most people who use custom roms leave it enabled all the time.
Oh...I thought it is a great app that many people are using it. Haha! Thank you brother!

usb connected and usb debugging
top left corner are both usb connector and usb debugging icon showing that they are activated. Basicly the debugging is activated in the development section. This is the "thing" you need to activate if you want to push app or other things without loading them on ur micro SD card just by plugging the phone in your computer. Or if you're programming some app without using emulators to simulate the phone.

I sometimes get that with a USB lead. Have you tried changing the USB setting in the Connections properties?
Incidently, I never had it until M$ updated the Vista drivers.....

same problem with windows xp
Not related to the post, but is that one of the worlds oldest PC's in the top left corner of your picture?
Ok,
Plugged phone into computer to put my first custom ROM on my card and now it won't mount the drive. ? You know that pop up that is supposed to ask what you want to do? Doesn't show.
Last night I rooted and unlocked NAND. Didn't have time to flash a ROM so was going to do it today.
I go into menu>settings>connect to pc to try to change it...and the text does change...but I have NO icon in the top bar. Only the usb debug icon
Holey ****e...

Ok...well then...I will leave this out there for someone else. Prolly no one that bad off though.
Resolution...turn off usb debugging...and lookit that. You can mount the drive. Gah. (Just have to talk through it...)
(Oh as for why title? I had troubleshot this all the way to trying to ADB mount the drive and was having issues because I never got to the $ sign. Just the # sign. I'll leave that mystery till another day.)
My little cousin was playing around with my S4 Mini's USB cable and he connected the USB part with the micro USB one and just now I noticed that one of the things in the micro side is missing, see this picture:

Can you guys do me a favor and check if the second one is missing or mine is just "broken" now. Still, charging and connecting with computer works but I'm worried it may cause other issues such as establishing connections with Odin and such.
Yup, it's supposed to look like this. Read the Wikipedia entry on USB.
Second opinion reporting.
Yup mine looks like that as well.

Thanks for your replies. Feeling relieved now. :victory:
Hi guys, i'm having some problems with my OP3.
There is this specific app that won't work, and the reason for it not working is because I can't turn on this specific permission.
Does anyone know why it wont turn on, and what I can do to fix this so I can turn it on?
Thanks

Open settings>Choose Apps>press setting icon on top right>choose Draw over other apps>Just select "No" for all apps manually... after that close everything and open your apps which you want to run and give permission.
I hope it will help you.

Sadly this didn't work, still Automaticly toggled off
I use an endoscope camera with my 2Xl for work and it is no longer working with DP3.
I use USB Camera App as my primary app and it worked through DP2 but now it cannot detect the camera. The light on the end of the camera comes on and shortly two notifications pop up: one under Android System saying it is Charging connected device via USB and one under the USB Camera App stating the camera is running. When I click on the Android System it will not let me change the setting from USB controlled by connected device to "this device" and the selections for control of the USB device below are all grayed out. After trying to make the switch to being controlled by the device, it comes up Couldn't Switch.
