I am curious I f I can use this method:

Let's get you some good data speeds. First, go to Settings - System Updates - and update PRL.Once that finishes, reboot.
Go to Market and get MSL Reader. Open the app. If it asks for "Superuser Privileges" then accept. It will tell you a 6-digit code. This code is unique to your phone. Write it down, but you can always get it again.
Go to Phone (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode) and enter your MSL code
select Data Profile
Hit the menu button and choose restore.
Just sit there, your phone should reboot. If it doesn't, then hold the power button and reboot.
Your phone should do "Hands-Free Provision". Once it says your phone has been provisioned, hit "Okay".
Once it starts to check for PRL update, hit cancel.
Go to Phone (Dial ##3282#, Choose edit mode) and enter your MSL code. Select Advanced, scroll down to RTSP Proxy Port and HTTP PD Proxy Port. Click on them, set them to 0 (zero).
Set RTSP Proxy Address and HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
You should now have about as good 3G speeds as you can have on Sprint.

Thanks for the help!
Idk if that'll help or not but if it doesn't, you could try the 3g turbo charger. It's a script that you can run using script manager from the market.

I started to have an issue with my Tmobile Dash where I am having problems getting a data connection. I called TM regarding this issue and of course their standard solution as alway is "Master Reset" the phone.
I swear I have Master Reset my phone 3 x's with TM and it is a major PITA.
I have checked my settings in GPRS and TM had me change them to the following:

i'm having the same problem with the newest kavana rom it won't get any internet connection at all i use to work fine but 2-3 months later it stopped working..
I'm running SyndicateRom Frozen with EC05
and I'm trying to pull open the extensions menu mentioned in the thread :
"[Tutorial] Reconnect to 4G much faster"
at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833332
However, when I dial ##3282# (DATA) I am taken to a "Data Programming" menu with options only to "View" or "Edit".
If I follow Edit, and enter my MSL, I see options for Data Profile, EVDO, Advanced, USB Charging, and "Others", but none for Extensions, and none of those menus contain the Extension values mentioned in the tutorial.
I do have 4G Radio on before entering the dialer code.
Am I doing something wrong? Is the dialer code different in SyndicateRom than from regular stock? Are there any other ways to get to this menu?
Thanks much!
You have 4G?!
I thought it was just a myth. Lolz

Make sure 4G is ON

Enter MSL
Then go to EntryRX and change it to -110
Here is a more informative thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=925898
In order to make changes such as these (There may be more or better ones listed for the Epic 4g but these ones are for the EVO 4g) follow these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733773
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726877
First you will need your MSL. You can either go through the hassle of contacting Sprint and trying to get them to give it to you, or download a terminal emulator program from the market at follow these instructions:
Once in your preferred terminal program (connecbot, terminal emulator, etc.) type the following EXACTLY:
getprop ril.MSL
It should display your MSL.
From there you can do the 4G and 3G tweaks.
Turn 4g on, go to the dialer, enter ##3282# click view then click Wimax. Enter your MSL, scroll down and choose extensions from there. This is where you will change certain settings mentioned in the threads above. To change the following edits to suggestions below, just long press the option you want to edit and click write extension.
1. Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Scan_Retry(s)"
2. Enter the number 15 and click "OK" (This equals 15 seconds instead of 120 seconds, stock is )
3. Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Entry_Delay(s)"
4. Enter the number 0 and click "OK" (This equals 0 seconds instead of the stock of 300 seconds)
5. WiMAX_Entry_RX(RSSI)(dBm) - Default is -89. This is the minimum signal it has to be picking up to connect. I'm not sure what the best value here is, but the lower the number, the quicker the connect, since it will connect to a weaker signal. You'll have to experiment some with this, I recommend trying about -95 to -100 first. If it's unstable, raise the value closer to -89.
6. WiMAX_Exit_CINR(dB) - Default is 2. See the entry CINR value for an explanation of it. If the signal degrades to a CINR of 2, it will drop the connection. Change this to 1. This should let you stay connected longer. If you run into problems with staying connected but having an unreliable connection, change it back to 2.
7. WiMAX_Exit_Delay(s) - The default is 2. Since it's measured in seconds, that means if the CINR drops to 2 or below for 2 seconds, it will drop the connection. Raise it to 5. That should be enough to cover just a random drop in signal that will pick back up right away. That way you don't drop connection if you drive under a bridge or something (I'm rocking mine at 15s here, but it'll take any value up to 600 seconds, which is 10 minutes!)
8. EntryCINR, change from 0006 to 0004.
Thanks to Geniusdog254 and swatspyder for finding these tweaks!

I called *2 and first thing I asked was for this and she gladly gave it to me, as always it is hit and miss. If they don't do it, hang up try again. There are other ways but I think they all pretty much require root, I could be wrong though.
to the OP.. i dont have the phone yet but im wondering about the wimax settings myself.
first thing to try.. ##DATA# but instead of going to edit.. go to view. see if theres a wimax setting in there. it does NOT show up when u pick "edit". if there IS a wimax option under ##DATA# > view.. then it will most likely require your MSL.
another place to try is ##DEBUG# which will require MSL as well. there might be wimax settings somewhere in there.
one last thing i'd like you to try is to install AnyCut from the android market(free). open it and choose to add shortcut or whatever(forget the exact option) and it will give you a list of all the system apks/menus on your phone.. scroll down and see if there are any wimax options. if there are.. could you please list them? could you also make shortcuts for each wimax option you do see and run them to see if you find anything interesting.
please report back with details. you're my eyes on this for now

Alright, with you last paragraph I think I may have found it. Here is what was listed and here is how to do it (you have to have 4g on in order to make changes however):
WiMax CT
WiMax DM
WiMax Mode Change
WiMax_CFG
WiMax_CFG
WiMax_NETEST
WiMax_RC
WiMaxLineTest
In order to make changes such as these (There may be more or better ones listed for the Epic 4g but these ones are for the EVO 4g) follow these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733773
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726877
Download Any Cut from the market, open it and choose New Shortcut, then choose Activity. Scroll down to WiMax_CFG (the first one, there after two listed) and it will create a shortcut on your home screen. Open that and select Extensions and make the changes from the threads above in that menu (just long press what you want to change and click save, it will automatically change it). You might have to reboot your phone in order for them to actually take but I'm still not sure if this all works.
It also looks as though you may be able to adjust frequencies. I'm tempted to test them. In wimax_cfg the first one under MRU you'll see 4 sts of frequencies and you can edit then it seems.

You are better than sprint!
Sprint kept telling me that the unlock code was the same as the MSL. Thanks everyone! I still can't get my data much above 20k (often lower than that). last night until this morning it was over 1MBs, but no more. The data is HORRIFIC. I wish I knew how slow slow really was (slower than dialup!).
No, the unlock code is the code for the ##DEBUG# menu. The MSL is the master subscriber lock that is used under the ##DATA#. Take a look at this thread to see how to get the MSL: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745888&page=3.
By chance did you take the OTA update since you were getting 1.0Mbps? Look at your baseband and see if your last 3 say LG2. If they do it might be the OTA that killed your speeds. Search about it and you will find the way to revert if you are having issues.

Thanks for the input. I did update the baseband, but the speeds were slow. Sprint officially said that the network is seeing "a lot of traffic" in my area. The good news is that in 2 weeks they'll do a data upgrate to the local tower (I've heard that before). And in 7 months we get a T1 line! (Only will help marginally, if at all).
I think I'm going to start working to get out without paying ETF. I'm trying to find the contract's arbitration provision to go that route if needed.
If anyone else is in doubt, DON'T GET THE SPRINT GALAXY S3, THE DATA IS SLOWER THAN DIALUP!!!! (I get 8-20k down 123k up most of the time, even on the weekends).
That is a matter of opinion though. I live in the Atlanta area and my S3 is giving me 30 down on LTE and on 3g I get 1.5 down.

I am attempting to attach this phone to a lab setup using my own WiMAX base station.. The rub is my Radius is configured to do TTLS authentication. The default WiMAX setting in the phone is TLS and it does not appear to be edit-able even after entering the MSL.
Is there a hidden menu where I can change the device to allow TTLS vs. TLS.. Or alternatively, where can I overwrite the default x.509 cert with my own x.509 client cert so I can perform TLS authentication against my own AAA?
My other option is using the Motorola Photon Q, but again I'm running into the same issue on that phone, Locked to TLS with no option to edit...
Thanks,
-Adam

To get to the Menu you want go to the Dial pad, and type ##3282# . It will ask you EDIT, or View. You want EDIT. It will then prompt you for your MSL. It's a six digit Password. Enter the Password. Then choose WIMAX. The settings to Enable, or Disable TTLS / TLS are there. If you do not have your MSL, you can download MSL Reader from the Play Store.
