[Q] No IMEI Bought From Ebay - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

Help I bought my gs2 off from ebay and it doesn't have an imei number. I tried installing hc-ktool to backup my efs but it gives me an error is there some way i can get the phones imei number back or put my hd2's on there

Better off just using eBay's buyer protection and returning..
No way no how are you gonna get it back or switch it...
Basically you got an expensive mp3 player and camera..
F all the douches on egay and craig**** who dish out **** devices .
Wish there was better news to throw your way..good luck with your search

Now that T-Mobile is blacklisting, it looks like this is becoming more commonplace.

yeah, hurry up and get your money back, obviously the phone was from a dubious source

Hmmm, yeah OP file a claim with ebay and get your money back.

Dropped my phone :(

It has got scratched on the back on couple of places. I want to exchange it in radio shack is that possible?
Please tell me you are kidding? YOU mishandled your phone and dropped it, causing physical damage. Now you want to take it into the store so they can exchange it and eat the cost? Go ahead and take it into them so they can laugh at you and essentially tell you the same thing.
Should have bought a case...
Sorry to hear. I dropped mine the other day and it doesn't have a scratch on it.

Wrap it in a case and learn from the experience.
Buy a replacement back on eBay for around 40 bucks and change it yourself.

This is THE reason places like Newegg used to have great return policies.
Just replace the cover, wrap the device in a cover and stop scamming the system.
If your within your 30 days you can exchange it. You might get hit with a restocking fee. Anyways if you want to make sure you get an exchange done, just brick the phone. Brick the phone to the point where it doesn't boot up. And then just play dumb tell them you woke up this morning and this happened. Trust me I work at Verizon I know the drill. The average radio shack employee couldn't tell you the difference from Odin and RSD... with the current policy radio shack has then they are forced to exchange it. Conclusion would be a faulty hardware. Yea its pretty low doing that, but I have done it multiple times. And its not like radio shack is my best friend, so your kinda screwing them over but they would do the same to you.

Seriously dude, think before you ask a question and use common sense here.
yeah you cant get an exchange just because of scratches. 2 words.. large magnet
Isn't encouraging fraud breaking the rules around here? Not to mention illegal?
OP, I would advise you to NOT to scam the system. You may think it is harmless, but somebody, somewhere will suffer the consequences of your lying.
Besides, it's very dishonest. You're trying to get a new one by claiming a defect when YOU'RE the one who broke it? Come on, you aren't that much of a scumbag, are you?

Skyrocket Replacement LCD

Can anyone recommend a REPUTABLE site for finding an LCD replacement for this phone? I have seen many questionable sites with them, but I have 1 shot at getting this done and want to encounter as little risk as possible. Thanks everyone.
This place is pretty reputable, they've been around forever https://www.gounlock.com/details.php?itemId=7437 The price is a bit steep, but certainly better than what Ebay has to offer for the same product.
That was one of them I was looking at, but they have an F on their BBB report and never replied or attempted to resolve any of the complaints. Kinda worries me.

I'd have to agree with that. But most of if not all of those same accessories ship from Hong Kong too...everything ordered from the site I posted might cost a few bucks more, but they're shipped from the USA and arrive much faster. To some, that's worth the few extra bucks spent.

Sad day, cracked screen.

Well, sad day today. A golf ball landed on my galaxy s3's screen. Needless to say, golf ball > galaxy s3.
Called customer service to see how much it is to be replaced, and with my insurance, its a big 166$. Ridiculous.
EDIT:
My brother works at a Radio shack, and they'll fix it for like 100$.
Has anyone used Radio shack before to get a screen replacement? If so, how long did it take, and did they do a goob job?

Purchase the replacement screen on eBay, watch a video on youtube on the screen replacement. It's easier than you think and wouldn't cost much at all. If your opposed to that I would trust them, it's not difficult.

The 100$ is what my brother said, after looking online it actually ends up to being 329$.
I'm thinking I'll let T-Mobile do it... I don't want to risk destroying it myself..
Kind of sucks though, a golf ball dropped and cracked it as bad as it did, it's at the bottom, like right on the home button, but the crack went to nearly the top of the screen.
Did you check eBay?? I would think they were way under $100 for the screen.

Well I checked Amazon, I have Amazon Prime for free for being a student.. and they are around $15-20.
I just don't want to take the chance that i make it worse than it already is... I'm not good at all at doing things like that, I'd rather it be done by someone who knows what they are doing.
Also, they said I could use a phone from the T-Mobile store until mine is replaced, which is pretty cool..
Understandable you don't want to make it worse than it already is. Try looking for places in your local area, there are repair shops that fix phones and video game systems for a fraction of the cost. Some times on Groupon they have Groupons for say $60 for a screen replacement, that's always another option you could check out.

Yea, I will look around.. But I do like that I can take it to T-Mobile, and they will loan me a phone while it's being fixed. I'll have to odin it back to stock though. Oh well.

Ontop of having Radio Shack doing it...it will void your warranty...to keep your warranty either have T-Mobile or Samsung fix it.

Well I called the insurance company this morning. They said $150, and that my replacement phone will be here tomorrow.
All is well, atleast it still works so I can use it until the new one comes tomorrow. Glad im getting a new one as well, instead of just getting this one fixed and sent back.
Thanks for feedback guys! :victory:
Well, as new as a refurbished phone can get. Any replacement/warranty phone that congress from tmobile is most likely going to be refurbished. I know because I have one and I'm very nit picky about my phone and always find some small defect with it.

Yeah, I have had that experience as well... Although more often than not, I end up with a busted camera which is more than a *minor* defect...
Asurion sometimes sends out BNIB devices but only if a) they don't have a refurb on hand or b) you've gone through a few refurbs in a short time.
I tried fixing my Nexus One's cracked screen...ROYALLY ****ed it up (just a little too much glue & ripped a ribbon) and ended up wasting $150 even after selling it for parts on eBay.
I would say if you are thinking about doing it yourself and don't have a lot of patience/manual dexterity/proper tools & work environment, don't try.
Also I figure the S3 is probably a lot harder to take apart than my old N1.

Cracked my screen, no warranty...how much will it cost?

I managed to crack my tablet already . It's just the glass, the tablet works fine and the screen looks and works normally underneath. If I call samsung how much will it cost? Is it possible for me to fix it myself, or is everything fused together?

Sorry to hear that. This is just my opinion but because this tablet is newly released I doubt you will find much on the internet on how to replace the screen on your own, I think you will also struggle to find the parts. Calling samsung would probably be your best bet if you want it fixed now or if you can wait a couple of months I'm sure there will be videos online about how to do it. Hopefully it works out for you mate.

Thanks for the replies...I called up Samsung and they said to send it and they'd fix it for 200$..ouch. I'm not sure if that's worth it or not. I'm considering taking it to a third party computer repair shop or just dealing with it until the parts become widely available. It works fine, it's just ugly XD. This all depends on if the price was reasonable. Is 200$ reasonable to replace the glass? If it is I'll just ship it off to Samsung now

I think $200 is way too much - I know this is easy for me to say but if I were you I'd wait a while, to put it into perspective the OLD note 10.1 Digitizer costs just $20 and maybe a few tools will cost you no more than $10.
Honestly I'd wait and see if its really difficult or not and then attempt it yourself if you think your capable to do it. I bet there will be videos online of people taking the 10.1 2014 edition screen apart soon but then again if you mess it up you've wasted a $500 device. Also call a few local electronic shops once the Digitizer becomes available on ebay surely they will charge a lot less for labour.
Like I said its easy for me to say all this but obviously you know whats best. Best of luck mate I really do hope it works out.
I purchased it with a prepaid debit card so no purchase protection. I think I'll just take Geordie Affy's advice and wait it out. 200 bucks is a pretty significant amount of money for me. The wait will punish me enough so I'll know to be super careful with expensive new items in the future lol.

Search online for SquareTrade discounts. I got 30% off mine for the GN 2014. If you are within 30 days of your purchase, you can still purchase a warranty, and claim it down the road at some point. That's kind of in the "Grey Zone", but may be your best bet until the parts are easily available.

If I were you, I would get the SquareTrade warranty. There is no way that they would know about any conversations that you had with Samsung. Plus, even after you get this issue taken care of, it will still benefit you to have the warranty to tackle any future problems. They are pretty easy to deal with in my experience.

SquareTrade doesn't care if you ROOT your device. I spoke with one of their service reps, and asked that specifically before I purchased the warranty.

My tab pro s cracked too, and I have no idea how. Is this screen particularly fragile? Mine shows pitting on the keyboard at the same place where the fracture begins. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the magnet that shuts it. Read on Amazon that someone had cracked theirs twice already and the screen was super fragile. ???
