Hey guys, I've been having a rough time getting into flashmode for my xperia play ever since I install cwm for non unlocked phones. I messed up my current settings so I wanted to just do a fresh flash but I can't seem to get into flashmode. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions? Also, which key am I supposed to be pressing? I've tried them all to make sure but I'm still lost for that.
Edit: Solved! For anyone that gets this problem I solved it by flashing a custom rom through cwm and then trying flash mode. I guess flashmode is linked to the rom because seeing as I screwed my rom it also screwed the ability to go into flashmode. I hope this helps.
Rapid press volume down

That's for cwm is it not? I want to flash via flashtool.
I think that one is hold down search or hold down back

Okay, but back to the real problem, it doesn't boot into flashmode when I press those buttons. I've tried them all like 50 times over and over and still can't get it to work.
Try just holding the search button dont hit power

Just tried. Still no good. Any other suggestions?
Try using the other keys to power on

I've just tried them all the make sure. Still no good. I've flashed my phone many times before, so I don't know why it won't work now. If you mess up your phones rom it also effects the flashmode? I feel like cwm or something else is blocking me from accessing it. Is there a way to do a fresh install via cwm?
What model do you have
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
R800a on 4.0.2.A.0.42 North American generic
I have no clue man I wish I could help
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Okay, thanks anyways. Do you know of any cwm roms I could flash and hopefully gain flashmode by doing that?
Not for your model

To use flashtool, you load the ftf, wait until flashtool tells you, then hold the back button while plugging in the phone to usb. Make sure you keep holding the button until flashtool recognizes it.
Also the ROM shouldn't make a difference. I had a bad flash and it still went into flashmode afterwards.

If you're able to boot into cwm, then you're fine.
I'm assuming you were flashing a ROM, so just wipe everything x3, and reflash the ROM or a different one.

Sounds like you may still have stock kernel on a custom rom.

Now that doesn't make sense. You can safely get into CWM, but not into download mode?
I have to ask to make sure. With the phone off, you're holding the 1 key on the keyboard and then holding the power button?
Well if that's the case, get to a PC and insert your SD card into a reader. Download a kernel, like Genocide v2 or etc to the card, and boot into CWM to flash the new kernel off the card. See if that helps.
yes i hold down 1 and the power button, and i tried the genocide2.0 and it still does the same just the samsung screen has a different logo
Sounds like my hardware locked vibrant try flashing cm7 or miui then see if you can make it back to dl mode

If your phone has life you should be able to get into download mode. Take your battery out, press the power button for 10 seconds. With the battery still out connect with cable to computer and press and hold the 1 key on the keyboard and then add pressing and holding the power button. Download mode will appear. Connect to Odin now.

so i odined the stock kernel onto my et4g and everything went fine until it rebooted my launcher is nonexistent the home menu and search buttons dont work when the phone first started up it said set up wizard force closed so anyone know what i should do at this point im currently dl the cwm recovery back up.
just tried to boot into odin mode and it said E:Update logfile dose not exist
From what I understand, unless you've wiped out your radios you should be okay. I had a similar thing happen to me, and corrected it in this manner.
You'll need a CWM recovery tar (I use Chris41g's LoStKernel)
An SD card
A flashable ROM (I use AbsolutZeroGI's EG30-Stock-OdexV2.zip)
Put the ROM on the SD card, with the phone unplugged pull the battery, replace and boot into Odin mode (volume down and power, then volume up at first screen).
Open Odin, select PDA then the tar file, make sure auto reboot is checked and run it.
Once the phone reboots pull the battery and go into recovery (volume up and power) wipe everything then flash the ROM. When it reboots you should be ok.
Conversely, you could look for crawrj's stock Odin Rom with recovery, busy box, and SU, (which you would also run from PDA), but the steps above are what I used.
i cant boot into odin mode :/
Oh, sorry about that, do you know anyone with a USB jig, I don't know for sure, but that may help determine if it is a hardware problem?
No i dont im gonna order one. Well i have it kind of working. I figured out how to get my emails and got the amazon app store and installed a launcher

Take out sd card.... Take out battery.... Let it sit for a while... put battery back in and try.. If that doesn't work, take battery out and plug into PC and try and get into Odin mode

Just download the correct firmware for your phone and flash it.
I can get into fast boot but ever time I try to get into flash mode the green light flickers on for a brief second then flash tool freezes
I have the firmware but it does not flash due yo flash mode being sketchy
What to do now?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
just wait a bit when u are flashing, it freeze because your pc is flashing on ur phone.
I've let it "flash" for over 2 hours and it still says 0 percent
Is it normal for the green light to turn off right away when first entering flash mode?
Is there anything I can do from fast boot mode?

[SOLVED] Well all i had to do was update my flashtool to 0.9.10.1 beta 4.

Hello everybody,
I have a problem, my samsung galaxy s3 is with factory firmware, it was my daughter's phone, so I do not remember which version of Android had, and was not rooted. This is the problem when I wanted to restore data factory, stayed in endless reboot, it just stays on the Samsung logo, can someone tell me how to fix this please? I'll be waiting your help is this, Thanks.
If it hangs at boot, factory reset.
If it boot loops, remove battery and put it back. If it tries to turn on by itself it's a bad power switch.
You may just need to flash the stock firmware via Odin on your computer though.

Try to boot Download Mode. (Hold volume down, home and power. When it vibrates release power only. When you get to the warning screen, press volume up.)
Do you see a build version? Warranty bit? (If the warranty bit is there it's on a 4.3 build)
my firmware thread is stickied at the top of the Development section. It's also linked in my signature.
If you are on 4.3, you can ONLY flash the same or newer builds. I'd suggest NC2 just to be safe (it's the latest).

I plug the USB cable and pull the battery out, put it back in and unplug the USB...
So i need to replace my power button so i can boot to recovery/download mode?
If it's stuck in a boot loop, yes. I can't think of any other way I'm afraid.

If you want download mode, you could try a USB jig.
I thought about that, but didn't suggest because he will almost certainly still have boot problems until he can boot recovery and factory reset.
Worth a try if a jig is handy, but if you have to order or make one it'll probably just add more time to getting it fixed.

worked pretty easy, thank you
Edit: I flashed the StockROM back to my S3 and for any reason it is in Stock recovery mode. How do i get out of there w/o my power button? My computer don't recognize my phone so ADB won't work :3 (
Battery pull I guess is probably the only way. If you're running completely stock, you'll probably need to flash an insecure kernel for ADB to work in recovery.
This may be of use to you though....If you use the KT747 4.4.2 kernel, when you plug it in it will turn on the device if it's already off. You have to be on a stock based 4.4.2 rom to use it though.
I know it doesn't address your current issue, but thought I'd mention it in case something like that was useful for now.

But how i can flash a Kernel if im stuck, in Stock Recovery i cant access the menus with the home button or touch, just with the power button.. and the phone isn't on device manager and Odin don't recognize it too..
If i pull the battery and wait(did it like 2h) and install it back, it reboots in recovery though
You can't flash anything from stock recovery. You'd need to install TWRP. Are you rooted?
How did you flash the stock rom?
You really need to get odin working though. Uninstall kies. Try different USB drivers, different cables, ports....
