[q] problems with my unrooted device - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hello everybody,
I have a problem, my samsung galaxy s3 is with factory firmware, it was my daughter's phone, so I do not remember which version of Android had, and was not rooted. This is the problem when I wanted to restore data factory, stayed in endless reboot, it just stays on the Samsung logo, can someone tell me how to fix this please? I'll be waiting your help is this, Thanks.

If it hangs at boot, factory reset.
If it boot loops, remove battery and put it back. If it tries to turn on by itself it's a bad power switch.
You may just need to flash the stock firmware via Odin on your computer though.

Thank you for your answer, where can I find the factory firmware, please?

Try to boot Download Mode. (Hold volume down, home and power. When it vibrates release power only. When you get to the warning screen, press volume up.)
Do you see a build version? Warranty bit? (If the warranty bit is there it's on a 4.3 build)
my firmware thread is stickied at the top of the Development section. It's also linked in my signature.
If you are on 4.3, you can ONLY flash the same or newer builds. I'd suggest NC2 just to be safe (it's the latest).

Need PIT file for this phone (I think)... URGENT REQUEST

All of this to get the stupid Google Wallet working. So pissed off right now.
Anyway tried to reflash my phone I seem to have screwed up the partition I think because it hangs on the Samsung logo. Tried to reboot into stock recovery and it doesn't do it (instead it keeps rebooting).
Trying to reflash the partition info, but for that I think I need a PIT file. Anyone know where I can get that??? I have been Googling the hell out of it and can't find it.
Can you get into download mode?

Yes.... I have flashed the stock ROM 4 to 5 times. It flashes successfully, reboots, and sticks on the Samsung Logo screen. Tried to reboot into recovery, and as long as I am holding the 3 buttons for recovery, it goes into a boot loop (like it tries to go to recovery, it isn't there, and reboots).

So I am pretty sure I accidentally clicked the re-partition button in Odin, and I am pretty sure I am screwed.
Hoping that someone can help me, if not I guess roadtrip tomorrow to see if a DSC can help me (AT&T DSC) for same day replacement...

For recovery
- Power Down + Home + Power
- Release Power at first sign of SAMSUNG Logo EXCEPT Power Down + Home
- Release Power Down + Down at first blink of Samsung
- Once in recovery, factory reset, format option
- Reboot, wait for 1-2 mins
BOLDED PART = Has to be precise

did you also try clearing the cache? i've had a few hangs on the samsung logo, clearing the cache helped it get through
I feel so stupid. I didn't release power while trying to get into recovery. Although I have another problem now, and the searches online don't look good.
My Baseband and IMEI is showing as "Unknown"... Also the phone is very laggy.
EDIT
On this thread I started out by saying that I think I clicked Re-partition, but I actually think I accidentally clicked Nand Erase All... I can get to download mode and recovery mode, but my phone shows Baseband and IMEI of unknown. Any help?
More information:
When going to stock recovery I see a few instances of:
Failed to mount /data (Invalid Argument).
EDIT -
When booting phone I have no internal memory (16Gig).
that happened to me once when clicking a random box in odin without knowing what it did on my epic touch...thank god i work for sprint and was able to just order my own replacement sounds like you wiped your IMEI, and thats a ***** to inject back in...youll need to the help of a true dev to restore, but your best bet is to hard brick and claim warranty, friend.

Of course this would happen today, where warranty replacement will take 2 days to get to me.
I already installed and ran (barely) Triangle Away, and got the counter reset so I am good there for warranty. I am begging the community for two things.
If someone knows a "true dev" that may be able to help me, I would sincerely ask that you point them to this thread and see what they can do. I will be monitoring this thread VERY CLOSELY until I say otherwise (in this thread).
Can someone point me in a direction to hard brick my phone???
here is the pit and when you go into recovery you have to factory reset or it stays bricked http://db.tt/gKSxQKWJ
go into odin and place the stock rom in pda then place the pit on the top where it says pit and make sure to click repartition.then when done take the battery out boot into recovery then factory reset and it should work.

Does using odin to flash the stock firmware restore baseband? Or flashing a moden? Also did you ever make a backup that included your efs folder? If you did restore that backup:thumbup:

[Q] Black Screen - Won't Boot

Was using the Galaxy S3 toolkit to update cwm, went to flash an AOSP rom intended for d2att models, went to reboot the device... It flashes the samsung logo briefly then sits at a black screen with a solid amber LED. ODIN does not see it, my PC sees the device but I can't flash anything at all. Can't get to download mode either holding the power and any combination of the volume keys does nothing. Someone please help point me in the right direction to fix this. Thanks in advance.
If or PC sees it u could check and see if ADB sees it and maybe wipe and flash from there

Thanks. I can only get into download mode at the moment. I'm downloading the stock firmware now and going to try flashing it in ODIN. Hopefully I'll get something to work here.

If it takes longer than 10 or so minutes, pull the battery, replace and booting into stock recovery. Wipe data and cache. Reboot
It take bit longer than normal but it should boot within a minute or two

[Q] Not sure why my phone is bricked...

I was using the Cyanogenmod that recently went out to the Google Play market. I decided to go back to stock and tried to do a Firmware recovery in Samsung Kies. It all seemed to go fine but when it's time to start up I just hang on the Samsung logo.
I've been trying to fix it and even used Odin to flash a stock ROM (latest release from November 19th) which was successful, but I am still not having any luck getting the phone to start. It's just hanging every time I restart.
Does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I hate to be such a noob but I could really use a few pointers.
Thanks so much

I don't have the stock recovery or I can't access it I think. When I hold the Vol Down + Home and power it on I get the screen that says to hit Vol Up to continue. When I do that I don't have any options, just the "Downloading" screen. It also says "Odin Mode" at the top

Factory Reset didn't work.
The last thing I flashed using Odin was this: T999UVUEMJC_T999TMBEMJC_TMB
Not sure if that makes any difference.

Any time you do a factory reset or flash a new ROM it may take 5 to 10 minutes, and this is pretty standard. The reason why is it is booting deodexed instead of odexed I believe. The distinction is clarified in the link below.
Please see "Deodex is Slower, Then Why Bother?":

Everyone started out a noob here. The difference is that some of them persisted. Keep up the tinkering :good:.

[HELP]S2 skyrocket bricked

I was trying to reflash the 4.1.2 firmware through ODIN yesterday but I didnt remember the correct way to get into download mode, so I accidentally kept going into recovery. Annoyed by that, when the phone tried to get into recovery mode again, I just pulled out the battery and then correctly got it into download mode. I flashed the firmware but after that it keeps restarting on the samsung logo and shows the android and tries to load the recovery but after that the screen goes black and it keeps restarting. I dont know whats wrong, maybe the recovery has been damaged. Please help me get the phone back to life. Also, another thing to note is that its not even turning on by the normal way of holding the power button, but I have to press the buttons to grow into recovery in order to turn it on, but before even going into recovery, it keeps restarting.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 M919 can't get past PIT partition

Hello! Let me start by saying that i have researched a ton and there is a lot of great information on here. The info I've read however doesn't seem to work for me.
My situation is I spilled a little bit of water on my phone (really not much), but it got inside my phone a little, which was already rooted using auto root. My power button thinks its constantly being pushed (i think). It doesn't bootloop, but as soon as i pop the battery in it turns on, and my phone was unresponsive to me clicking the power button. The rest of the phone was fully functional and i checked with Tmobile and it is still under warrenty (didn't mention the water). They told me to backup the phone which i was able to do in kies with no problem. Then they said do a factory reset, which again I did with no problem. It didn't solve my issue which i kinda knew it wouldn't, so the next step for me was to unroot my phone so i can return it. I popped it in odin, selected the original firmware and it started , then it disconnected by itself. Now the firmware upgrade screen pops up, but i am still able to get it into download mode (for me since the power button is suspect) i just have to hold the home and volume down, pop in the battery and it goes to download mode. The problem is that every time i try to hit start in Odin it gets to the part about the PIT partition and disconnects and says there is no PIT partition. Everywhere i've read says to either use a PIT partition (can't find one for the M919) or that the partition is in the m5 file, which as far as i can tell it is not (at least not it's own file). I've tried downloading the stock firmware from a multitude of different places even Sammobile with no luck and I've also tried different computers, different cables, and all the USB ports available to me.
Can anyone please tell me where to go from here please? I need to get this replaced asap!
(sorry i also posted this in the general section on accident)
I really think I just need the PIT partition, but I can't seem to find one for the m919 model
I have also tried different version of Odin (1.85, 3.07, and 3.09) all with the same result
What stock firmware are you trying to flash?

When you're in download mode do you see anything that mentions KNOX in the upper-left hand corner? I only ask because MDL (4.2.2) firmware is the pre-KNOX firmware and will have no mention of KNOX in the text in download mode; it also will not flash if your bootloader has been updated to MK2 (4.3) or NB4 (4.4.2).
You're trying to flash mdl to a phone that won't take it. (ie it's already been updated to mk2 or nb4).
I'd flash the mk2 or nb4 tar file.

If the string "KNOX WARRANTY VOID:" doesn't appear in download mode, then your phone has not been updated to 4.3 or 4.4.2 as android_monsters stated. MDL should have flashed as there was nothing related to the bootloader or KNOX keeping you from a successful flash.
One thing I did encounter myself while trying to re-flash my pre-KNOX device; did you ever update your modem/baseband to MK2 or NB4? If you did, I would recommend finding the individual MDL modem/baseband files and manually reverting them before flashing the stock MDL firmware again. Odin never failed for me at the device .pit file, but I did encounter the firmware upgrade screen while trying to revert to stock with an updated modem. Doesn't make sense to me as the stock firmware has the modem and all in it, but that fixed it for me.
That did the trick all right! :victory: :victory:
Thanks!

Reverting the modem before flashing the stock firmware fixed your problem? Awesome! :highfive:
Hold the power button and the volume up button and try booting into recovery,
Wipe cache
3 times
Wipe dalvik
3 times
Wipe system
3 times
Reflash rom
1 time
Wipe cache
At least 1 time
Reboot or
Flash gapps
(Only if needed)
If that doesn't help, then maybe try a different rom?

Try re-flashing the stock firmware in Odin. Don't flash a custom recovery at this point, just the stock firmware. Once it passes in Odin, power it off. Hold Power + Volume Up while powering up. It should show the Galaxy S4 screen with "Booting Recovery" in the upper-left.
