Help I'm stuck in a boot loop

Yesterday I tried updating to CM9 alpha 6 and when i updated i got stuck in a boot loop. it wasn't a clean install from 5 then when i got to the bootloop i did a factory reset and I'm still stuck. Someone told me it was possibly a bad ROM file. He told me to reflash a kernal and see if it boots up and if that doesnt work try flashing a newly downloaded CM6 Rom. I flashed the FF11 kernel and now i cant boot into recovery. If i hold power and up, it just boots normally put gets stuck in the CM9 animation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try to Odin back to el29 that should do the trick just would have to start everything all over again.

Ok so let me see if i got this process correctly, odin to el29 which puts me back on GB TW, then i boot into recovery then install the ROM? do i need to reflash gapps? also another question. I did a factory reset on my phone, that doesnt delete the internal storage partition that the phone reads as "sd card" correct?

Yes factory reset does not delete internal SD memory. You don't have to go back to gb. Just go into download mode, Download el26 cwm kernel and flash that through odin/PC and wipe everything. Flash cm9 alpha 6 and gapps. Should be good to go.

it worked. thank you so much. I had a feeling that was what i was supposed to do but i completely bricked my last epic touch so now im very weary about doing flashes unless im 100% sure

My phone is stuck in a bootloop with Cyanogen and CWM!!!

Heyy everyone! i have a samsung sgh t989D (telus edition) and i tried to root it. I put CWM and Cyanogen on it via Rom Manager and when i started my phone up it wouldnt get past the boot screen so im stuck in a bootloop. I can get to the CWM recovery page but i dont know what i should and can do to get out of this boot loop. I backed up i phone when i was trying to use the samsung toolkit a while ago but i still dont want to lose my data. I also dont care for the rom or root anymore. So i guess im asking what the best way to unroot my phone would be. Also my phone disconnects itself from my computer at times (my laptop makes the noise that a usb has been unplugged) and im using the stock wire with a usb 2.0 port.

Can you get into download mode or CWM without it rebooting? If not, does it get partially through the boot process before going into an infinite bootloop and vibrating every few seconds? If so, you could be another victim of power button hardware failure.

Please please please tell me you did a NANDROID backup before making any changes after getting CWM on there!
If you did, you should be able to restore from backup when in CWM. If not... well... flash from an SD card?

What's this power button hardware failure? Is it common? I'm scaaaared now.....

i can easily get to the clockwork recovery page and idk if i did a nandroid backup :S i used ROM manager to put CWM on my phone but before that i tried rooting with the samsung toolkit and that made me do some sort of backup i think so i might have but idk. what can i flash from an sd card? pretty much what happens when i start my phone is that it stays at the screen while its booting like the boot logo where the background is moving and stuff and i can turn my phone off and hold volume keys and get into CWM recovery

Check every other thread... they are pretty much the same thing. You answer is Darkside Super wipe. Flash it, flash your ROM, flash GAPPs, reboot!

soo will that wipe everthing off of my phone? and thanks! i guesss ill just do that

try holding power 3 seconds then let go over and over then eventually it should boot into rom i do this alot

sometimes it takes a couple minutes before it boots up all the way. it works for me alot but i am not guaranteeing it will for you but it can't hurt to try

just wipe cache and dalvik . then flash rom make back up if you need too.

which rom do you mean when you say flash rom? the stock rom? or a custom one? i want to keep it stock for now

Ive got a new problem :S i now know exactly how to fix my phone. But there are some pictures on the internal SD Card that i really need. Theyre pictures from a family vacation to Washington DC an theyre really important. I tried to mount my phone from Clockwork Mod Recovery but mounting the system but it didnt work. Then i tried selecting all the options and mounted them all but all my computer does is reckognize that something is plugged in. I cant get into the files of my phone. I also checked and my computer says the my phone is a "Storage Device; Modem"

Your not suppose mount the system, just storage. In TWRP you can mount internal or external storage. Also, I'm not quite getting what you're saying. You have tried taking out the SD card and mounting it directly on your PC and it didn't work?

In the CM9 thread it says to ensure you download/install a CWM Touch recovery - if you don't you're guaranteed to get a boot loop. Their "fix" was to download and flash darkside-wipe-cache-only.zip via recovery and that will fix the problem.
I ended up having the same issue and that's how I fixed it.

Im saying that im stuck in a bootloop and i wana get the data off of my internal storage. I can only get to CWM recovery. I also wana just go back to stock ICS but if i can fix cyanogen without wiping my phone that would be great! i tried to plug in my phone and get my computer to read it so i can browse my phone's internal memory and get the pictures off of the internal storage but it wont recognize my phone. I tried checking all of the things in CWM but none of them worked.

so your saying that i didnt download/install a CWM Touch Recovery so thats why im in the boot loop and that to fix it i can download and flash a darkside Wipe Cache Only and the phone will get out of the bootloop and Cyanogen will work?

Hey guys, while doing a clean wipe on my phone I left my phone unattended while in recovery, I walked in the other room for a second and my 2 year old somehow managed to completely wipe out my phone, formatting my sd card.
I have acces to recovery but I cannot get the internal sd to mount or external to mount, I need you to help me flash anythiong so I can boot the phone back up.
I would appreciate any help!!

If you are using TWRP, sideload a ROM to it and flash that. I think even from CWM you can adb push a ROM to your internal memory. If all else fails, reboot to download mode and ODIN back to stock.

running ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.1.4
Odin'ing a stock image/package may be a littler easier for me, im a complete novice when it comes to ADB..etc

Well I was able to what I think successfully use Odin to flash stock firmware. The only thing I question is that, I still have all of my pictures that were stored on the phones internal memory.
In stock 3e recovery I also have more options rather then just wipe/factory reset and clear cache....

You really should Google how to use adb, there are some great tutorials from XDA. Everyone is a nub at first. Lol.
Flashing stock doesn't wipe the internal memory, it just does the normal wipes and formats system.

Ive dabbled with it owning my nexus s and s2 but feared i would do more damage then i could handle. Lol
So i used odin to get back but now currently running the jellybean update being that it dont wipe the internal memory if i had to retuen the phone for any reason would there still be a trace of root?
I uploaded all of my pictures then did a soft and hard reset...

Soft Brick

Ok, so I have soft bricked my phone. I did a system wipe through the recovery tools but it still wont boot up. It just powers on then goes to a black screen. I can go into download mode and I can boot into recovery mode. Please help

Mount your sdcard and flash a rom to your phone. This isnt really a brick, it just sounds like you wiped your OS

Yea system wipe just deletes your system aka Rom.
It's like deleting Windows off a pc, without having a os to fall back on.

Ohh ok, I tried doing that, but nothing pops up in my window.

What did you do that got you into this situation in the first place? Just trying to flash a new rom?

What recovery are you on if your phone isn't detecting an SD card or anything you want want to try pushing the ROM through ADB

If flashing another rom doesn't work you can just go to Odin and flash on the stock unrooted rom. There's a guide somewhere here on how to unroot. After doing that, you can try to reroot and flash a rom.

Phone keeps getting Stuck at Splash screen.

The screen before the bootanimation. That's where my phone keeps getting stuck at. Doesn't matter if it's TW or AOSP. It will fully load once every 20 or so retries, but only on a fresh install of a ROM.
Is my phone in need of replacement? I mean, once it boots up, it's fine. It works as it should. But if there's any reason for me to reboot the phone, then that's when it gets stuck again.
I did notice that if I try to Flash a file that was on the Internal memory, it would fail...and my internal memory becomes corrupt (shows 0MB for internal memory)...until I format it...then its good again.
Has anybody run into this or something similar that maybe able to save my phone from having to be replaced? Thanks! In the meantime...I am going to try and replace my TWRP 2.6 to CWM...just for testing purposes....

Good call...I totally forgot that option. I'll report back tomorrow!

I second this, but it would be perfectly fine to use the root66 firmware so you don't have to re root. It is 100% official stock, except for SuperSU is added.

Looks like I need to put my phone up for parts on ebay or something. It still gets stuck at the Splash Screen.

Is it under warranty or do you have insurance?

Nah. It's cool. Cause I intentionally didn't get the Insurance because of the Nexus phones' prices. Also I have many backups. Warranty is out also. It was fun while it lasted, but now I'm really interested in what the next Nexus/Galaxy device is going to be!

Just to be sure, have you factory reset?
Also try without your external sd card, without your sim card, anf wuthout both. I know it may sound odd, but its worth trying.

So I went into the Stock Recovery and did a Factory/Cache reset.
Holy Chocolate Milk Batman! I've rebooted the device 6 times now and no glitch at all! Now that was without a SIM and SD Card.
Trying it with the SIM/SD in...Booted fine the first time...Second time it rebooted itself once right after the initial boot. 3rd and 4th rebooted fine!
This is great! Now I can put my S2 away! Hahaha

It really didn't make sense that the phone would boot into Recovery/Download and flash and ODIN firmware, but not boot! It must have had a bad breakfast one morning...
I guess the TWRP recovery format function for the internal SD wasn't really a format?

Twrp and cwm won't format/wipe the internal sd by a factory reset. You have to specifically choose the right option for them to do this. It doesn't actually format I don't think because it would wipe internal sd, and the point was to preserve your data. If you select format data (I think) it would do the full wipe. Factory reset with stock recovery actually formats data so it will wipe the internal sd.
Glad you got it working right! Just keep an eye on its behavior and hope it doesn't start again!
