The screen before the bootanimation. That's where my phone keeps getting stuck at. Doesn't matter if it's TW or AOSP. It will fully load once every 20 or so retries, but only on a fresh install of a ROM.
Is my phone in need of replacement? I mean, once it boots up, it's fine. It works as it should. But if there's any reason for me to reboot the phone, then that's when it gets stuck again.
I did notice that if I try to Flash a file that was on the Internal memory, it would fail...and my internal memory becomes corrupt (shows 0MB for internal memory)...until I format it...then its good again.
Has anybody run into this or something similar that maybe able to save my phone from having to be replaced? Thanks! In the meantime...I am going to try and replace my TWRP 2.6 to CWM...just for testing purposes....

Try to Odin back to stock and format everything for good measure. Then re-root and re-flash.

Good call...I totally forgot that option. I'll report back tomorrow!
I second this, but it would be perfectly fine to use the root66 firmware so you don't have to re root. It is 100% official stock, except for SuperSU is added.

Nah. It's cool. Cause I intentionally didn't get the Insurance because of the Nexus phones' prices. Also I have many backups. Warranty is out also. It was fun while it lasted, but now I'm really interested in what the next Nexus/Galaxy device is going to be!
Just to be sure, have you factory reset?
Also try without your external sd card, without your sim card, anf wuthout both. I know it may sound odd, but its worth trying.

So I went into the Stock Recovery and did a Factory/Cache reset.
Holy Chocolate Milk Batman! I've rebooted the device 6 times now and no glitch at all! Now that was without a SIM and SD Card.
Trying it with the SIM/SD in...Booted fine the first time...Second time it rebooted itself once right after the initial boot. 3rd and 4th rebooted fine!
This is great! Now I can put my S2 away! Hahaha
:highfive: Doc for the brain storming!
It really didn't make sense that the phone would boot into Recovery/Download and flash and ODIN firmware, but not boot! It must have had a bad breakfast one morning...
I guess the TWRP recovery format function for the internal SD wasn't really a format?
Twrp and cwm won't format/wipe the internal sd by a factory reset. You have to specifically choose the right option for them to do this. It doesn't actually format I don't think because it would wipe internal sd, and the point was to preserve your data. If you select format data (I think) it would do the full wipe. Factory reset with stock recovery actually formats data so it will wipe the internal sd.
Glad you got it working right! Just keep an eye on its behavior and hope it doesn't start again!

I'm new to this phone stuff and I tried downloading Valhalla v1.3 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1203591 from recovery mode and my phone rebooted, and now it keeps restarting over and over. I have access to download and recovery mode only. I don't know any ROM or flash business so please help.
I just realized that i tried to download a galaxy 4g theme on my tmobile galaxy s2
if you did a nand back up and your able to go to the recovery mode flash your back up image in other terms if you backed up your rom do a restore.
if its still booting u have a chance to save it

download any rom
example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642
boot into recovery, plug your phone in with your usb cable to your computer, under recovery go to mounts and storage, select mount usb storage, once your compter detects it, drag and drop the rom to the root of your sd, go back disconect the phone, go advance reboot recovery, and now wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik, install zip from sd card and select the rom
hope that little tutorial helped, im half asleep, 3:45 am

My sdcard's memory is too low lol. But got one coming in with 8 gb. So i'll try it with that.
Can you tell me the difference between a brick and boot loop?

A brick does nothing, just lies there ...
Bootloop starts to boot then restarts , hence the loop part ...
When you say your SD card memory is low, you mean your external SD?? Why not delete something to get the rom on it ... Should be able to put it in a PC and remove something , if you are talking about your external ...
IF you can get to download mode, find the Stock ODIN flash for t989, and follow the directions, ODIN does not care how full your SD card is ...
Ahh, ok. Then yeah, I'm in a boot loop . It's only a 120 mb external SD. Even the stock ROM won't fit there lol.

IMHO Odin back to stock is your best option , then you have a clean start ...
Just make sure you ONLY flash ROMs for the t989(or skyrocket if you are brave) ...

is there a way I can erase everything on my phone. I want to erase everything and flash the stock firmware with odin. I used pimp my rom and it made my screen go black when i place a call and it wont turn on. so i cant hang up or press any numbers. The only way I can end a call is to shut down the phone. I tried restoring to a nandroid backup I made the first day I got the phone and it was running perfect. A file stays on my phone that is messing with my proximity sensor and I dont know how to fix it. I just want every little piece of data I stored on my phone gone except the files needed for the phone to work.(the files that come with the phone) I want every other folder gone. PLEASE HELP. This sucks.

ive done the factory reset but the screen still goes black..I even unrooted my phone. I formated data, system cache, factory reset. Ive tried it all.
its weird
everything works except when i use the phone. The screen wont turn back on. I formated the sdcard and everything is gone but its just still foing the same ****. I think I'm going to have to take the phone back to att.
Sheesh, it's not that hard.
Open your phone in your computer folders. Delete everything you see.
Unplug the phone and remove the battery for a couple minutes.
Boot to recovery and wipe cache/davlik/system/sd/factory reset/etc.
Then odin the phone.
Flash this in cwm or twrp it will wipe everything...... everything. Then do what you gotta do

Not sure what you are doing differently but booting into CWM and formatting the card worked fine for me. If you format everything including system nothing will be on the phone and you wont be able to flash any ROMS unless you have them on an External SD or use Odin.
Formatting your sd card is a clean wipe it does more then the factory reset and wipe. you will need your stock or custom ROM which you can find somewhere on these forums. If you plan to Flash from Odin you will need the ROMs in .tar format.
I just did this last night as I was annoyed with the sdcard0 after flashing to 4.2 JB with a custom ROM.
I just blew away everything on my internal SD card and started from scratch. Worked like a charm
Good luck!
It has to be the phone then. I wiped everything and the phone was like new with nothing on it and it still doesn't work proper when I make a phone call.

I flashed an AOSP Rom (SuperNexus) on my LGOG. Now when I try to flash a Stock (ZVB) based ROM, my phone reboots every time data connects. I tried Stock Rooted and Lifeless. The ROM's will flash onto my phone, but I can't get any data.
I tried installing LGNPST, but every time I connect my phone and open the LGNPST software I get a message that LG USB/Parallel dongle is not detected. I flashed back to Super Nex and my connection is fine.
And I am re-flashing, not restoring a backup. I ran a backup in TWRP before I flashed Super Nex so that I could get back to my Stock setup, but TWRP can't see anything to restore.
Ugh

sounds like you're having similar issues as bmp7777, have you made any changes to your storage? as in the whole sdcard0 stuff? are your backups stored in sdcard0 ? when you flash a aosp rom it changes the way your storage is set up make sure you put your important stuff on sdcard0

Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
This happened to me a couple months ago.
Easy solution:
Go to TWRP -> Wipe -> Advanced -> make sure you wipe all four options data, dalvik, cache, and system.
When you factory reset you only wiped data, dalvik, and cache. You forgot to wipe system, then you can go back to flashing normally.
Dont worry this wont wipe your SDcard.
Well I ****ed up. I formatted the data partition. I am now hard bricked. No recovery, no boot, nothing. glad I purchased that insurance.

Are you actually hard bricked because at this point normally I'm pretty sure you could just LGNPST back to stock? I mean I've wiped everything before to rule out dirty flashing related bugs on ROMs and I don't think TWRP actually touches any of the really critical low-level files.

I had the same issue with LGNPST. The solution is very simple. Uninstall LGNPDT completely from your computer. Go into start-computer-c drive and delete folders labeled LG electronics off of there and inside program files. Then reinstall LGNPST but right click the .exe file and select install as administrator. This will solve your issue and flash back to stock. Make sure you follow the normal process of selecting the .dll and .bin files.
Let me know if this helped.

Hello.
My dad recently bought galaxy note 2 as months old.
The problem is that since the beginning it did random reboots from time to time (stock rooted rom).
After few days I've changed the rom once, same happened.
Now I've flashed x note rom, but the problem remains. It sometimes won't turn on from deep sleep and sometimes just reboots (eg. while reading a book).
Do You know what the problem may be?
How do You think, is it hardware?
(he still has warranty)
EDIT:The SIM card is probably the problem. It seems like it doesn't fit good enough in the phone and it has some connection problems with it. Have You faced a problem like this?
If that's the reason, the SIM will have to be changed (the SIM was made new specially for the phone).

Ok try formating extsd on pc then put liquid rom on it now format everything on the phone in recovery so the only thing that remains is the liquid rom on extsd so now ur phone is blank and its internal sd. Flash the liquid rom and see what happens. If the problems continue the flash different kernels that works with cm bassed roms. If it fails on all kernels then revert back to stock rom unrooted and reset the flash counter so u can return the phone to the shop.

I would rather skip the internal storage format as there's a lot of data. External storage is empty anyway, as is it's 2gb only. The phone did the same thing with 32gb card So the external memory doesn't seem to be a problem.
However taking out sim card helped for now. It's only a short test so I'll let You know for sure tomorrow. (let's hope that the sim is broken).
And I was thinking the same about this flash counter and back to stock method. If nothing will help I'll prepare the phone as it was new and give it back to repair.
That would be a disappointment , as my dad had to change the phone because the last one wasn't working good anymore and he can't even trust this one.

Its most likely ur issue is on the internal as the rom and apps store there data on the internal sd so if u leave the internal sd then the issue will keep on no matter what u do. I would suggest u copy the internal sd to pc and format it then reflash what ever rom u use.

I don't think so. The test has proven that there's something wrong with the SIM card.
The phone has been left for the night without SIM card inserted and there was no reboot at all.
Maybe the SIM card is too thin and when the phone tries to read it's status it reboots.
OK so recently I formatted my data on internal memory and when I went to reboot my phone it wouldn't go past the galaxy s4 screen! So I reboot into recovery and tried wiping cache and dalvick but nothing worked to get me past the s4 screen so I rebooted back into recovery and did a clean flash of the I'm using and everything seemed ok got my phone all setup again but when I try to just do a simple reboot it still won't go past the s4 screen?!? The only thing that fixes it is clean flashing my ROM again I'm not sure what is going on but I would just like to be able to reboot my phone! Any help would be great!!

Yea its weird the only way I'm able to Reboot my phone is I have to boot into recovery then wipe cache and it'll reboot fine but at the moment i don't have a computer to fix it so I just gotta deal with it and also the only way to flash a new ROM is by formatting internal SD again and clean flashing to get it to flash right
