Yes this is the Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch section.
Did you make a nandroid backup 1st? (If Yes, restore your backup) Did you go into "mounts and storage" and format "/system" before you wiped data/cache/dalvik cache?
Odin another rom.
Search for and download odin v1.85. Then download a .tar file. Where ever you find these items, you'll also find good instructions.
Then try flashing starburst again.

Yes, I did make a nand and got back to it, the starburst rom section told me to flash through cwm. But, it didn't work. I odined a tar last night, I'm fine now, but, how should I go about flashing again? Yes, I did wipe.
I'm running the oc'd zedomax or however thats spelled.

Did you format /system prior to flashing Starburst? That'll cause bootloops if you failed to do so.

I would suggest 5.0.2.3, or 5.0.2.6 Also...make sure you format cache/dalvik/data/system at least 3X each. If that doesn't work, then try redownloading the ROM. Might've gotten a borked download.

Use this: LoStkernel or this: CWM
But I'm willing to bet that you either didn't format system in the mounts and storage menu or it didn't take when you tried. I would retry StarBurst again first, making sure to Format System Under Mounts and Storage and making sure it succeeds. Then you won't have to worry about any of the other stuff.
Yeah, CWM can be quirky

The place to post ANYTHING about using a Starburst ROM on Epic 4 G Touch is

Phone works great. Little hard on my eyes, might be the coloring of the theme. I just want to try something new, like CM9, but noticed that I have to go back to GB before I can go to CM9. Im just confused as to what to do now.
My phone currently reads:
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: S710.10 S.FE10
Kernel version: [email protected] #3
Build number: RUJELUS22 The Blu Kuban FE10 1.0.3.5
If someone could explain how to go backwards so I can go back up to CM9 I would be very grateful!

I do not have the mobile odin.
Ok well Odin on PC would work fine. Download all your files (rom, gapps, whatever you need to) and flash the el26 kernal with cwm. Then when that's finished and your phone tries to reboot, pull the battery and then put it back in, then boot into the recovery. Wipe all data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, then flash rom, then gapps and whatever else you may need. Be sure to do a nandroid backup when you first get into recovery.

Which el26 kernel? I think I had it, don't know where it went >.>
el26_stockcwm.tar.md5?
So I just boot into recovery, flash from that and then as its rebooting i pop battery out, go back into recovery and load up CM9 and then load up gaps and let its start?
Be sure to wipe everything first. And yes that .tar file is the one you need. Do yourself a favor and re-read the cm9 installation process just to be safe.

Ok, if you want gapps, then download whichever kernal the rom comes with, just the kernal tho. Then flash el26cwm again and flash gapps, then before you reboot, flash the kernal that you had just downloaded with rom. You won't lose any data so you have nothing to worry about.

Ok.
So Im using Odin PC to put EL26CWM back onto the phone, then boot up the phone into recovery. Then I flash gapps onto it, but before restarting flash the kernel thats supposed to come with CM9. Right?
Now, I don't really like the recovery that comes with CM9, I feel like the display is a lot darker and I don't have as many options. Can I use another recovery?
Also my boot screen is for the I9100 and it has a yellow triangle. Whats that about?
Don't worry about the yellow triangle for now. We'll get rid of that later. And about the recovery, no. Leave the one that it comes with. If you flash a gb kernal then your phone won't boot. And the ice recovery isn't safe. And it won't be until source comes out and our devs make a safe cwm for pics. Til then, just stick with what you've got.

So this is my first time posting so im a pretty big noob at this, but here it goes. I have a T-mobile Galaxy s2 that i rooted a few months ago. Today CM9 released the stable version, which is what Ive been waiting for so i decided to try it out. (again, Ive never flashed a rom before I only used the stock one) I followed all the steps to do it and now its been at the boot screen for over an hour. The instructions said be patient, but I feel that over an hour is too long. I decided to pull the battery, hoping I could go into recovery mode and do a factory reset. When I try to go into recovery mode it vibrates a couple times but doesn't go into recovery mode. I can't go into download mode either. Does anyone have any idea for what I can do to at least do a factory reset? Thank you in advance for the help.
Edit* After going into recovery, I tried a factory reset but its still trying to boot into CM9. Why is it doing that?
When factory reset it doesn't go back to stock rom .
How are you flashing the rom?

Actually, for some reason recovery was being really strange. I had to hold down the power and the volume buttons 3 times for it to go to recovery, then I restored an older backup that was on my memory card and it took a while then finally worked
Do you by chance know why it didn't work?
I've been getting this same problem. I can get back to recovery and recover from my backup just fine, but every time I try to get CM9 working, it won't go past the boot screen, even after about an hour of waiting.
I've tried the CM9 hercules stable release off the CyanogenMod website and the CM9 RC2 download through ROM Manager, I've tried installing through ROM Manager and straight from booting into recovery, and I've tried putting the zip on both external and internal storage just in case that might conceivably affect something. I have the same problem every time. I'm using CWM 5.0.2.7 and currently on rooted stock.
Any ideas on how I might get this rom working?

I flashed TWRP 2.5 and then flashed Task's AOKP 4/9 ROM and everything went down hill from there. The phone kept rebooting after a minute or so, so I did a factory reset and reflashed the ROM. That didn't help, it actually made it worse in that it would not get past the kernel splash screen. So I did another wipe and the same thing. I wiped again and flashed an older version of AOKP 4/5 and again would only get to the kernel splash. After another hour or so I decided I'll just go back to rooted stock, so using Odin 3 3.07 I flashed my trusted root69.stock_ATT_I747UCALG1 image and now it just stays on the Samsung screen.
I've run out of thoughts on what the hell is the problem and thought I'd ask.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get this paper weight working again?

I think it's the custom boot causing this issue. Anyway good luck. I know my heart skipped a beat when my phone would boot loop while to get into recovery. Once I Odined back to stock with root first/only thing I downloaded was goomanager and installed TWRP then flashed 4/9.

Thanks for the reminder!
AOKP is a great ROM.
When flashing ROMs always follow these steps and you will be fine.
1- nandroid backup
2- format system
3- wipe cache
4- wipe Dalvik
5- factory reset.
Most suggest doing each 3 times.
6- install ROM and reboot
7- flash gapps
Let sit for 10 minutes.
Follow those instructions and everything will be fine.

Alright, im not completely new to rooting but I have encountered a new problem.
I rooted my phone through odin (galaxy s3 T999), had some hiccups with that so I ended up downloading the stock rom tar and reflashed using that, problem solved good to go still rooted. awesome.
So, I attempted to flash the cyanogen rom using clockwork mod. it wouldn't come past the load screen, went into clockwork mod to recover my backup but for some reason it wouldn't let me access the SD card to get it. next thought was to go back to odin and flash the same file I used previously to get back to where I was, for some reason this is not working, I can get to download, use odin to flash it, says success and all that, then upoon rebooting it stays at the Samsung loading screen.
So from there I went and downloaded the GS3 toolkit and tried all of their recovery files, all having the same issue. about 18 flashes later I tried reformatting from the phone itself, same issue with the samsung logo being stuck. And now, I am currently baffled, anyone wanna help me out? I have a feeling it has something to do with the .pit option on odin, but I am not that advanced and its just a hunch. so...thanks in advance guys!
So I understand not to touch pit, roger, reading other posts makes that clear, but still cant find a fix, the top right of my download says
ODIN MODE
Product Name SGH-T999
Custom Binary yes: 19 counts
Current Binary Samsung Offical
System Status Custom
Qualcomm secureboot Enable
Okay, what is the current state of the device?

tried to factory reset and it does the same logo stuck business. That was the last thing i tried after attempting to back up and reflash numerous times. tried flashing again recently, it will install CWM if it is attached to the rom but still gets stuck on the logo. tried re installing odin as well, it is working as usual, starts, restarts the phone, sits awhile, success. then i restart the phone and never get past logo.

When flashing a new rom, you have to do a full wipe or youll run into problems like you are currently having.
If you dont know what a full wipe is, then stop what you are doing and put your phone down. Just about every rom thread here on xda explains what a full wipe is, it will be in the first post of the thread.
Like I said, find a rom you like in the t-999 section and flash it after doing a full wipe.

I'm just not sure what you mean by it installing CWM attached to a Rom? Recoveries shouldn't be included with a Rom.
Odin flash the root66 firmware, then reboot to STOCK recovery and factory reset. This will wipe all user data, including your internal sd card. Then try rebooting again.
