Because it's on? Really? There are syncs and polling from the network that go on. If you don't want to lose percentage turn it off.

I took of background data....and auto sync and put it on lowest brightness and put it on airplane mode....and I have juice defender...
I really don't see why it would do that...

It's still on! Turn it off. Your TV uses electricity even though it is off. Juice defender is also polling, if you turn everything off manually uninstall Juice Defender. Most have found this app does not save anything. Standby means your phone is still on, using batttery power, polling to wait for a keypress...still on. Phone is advertised as having up to 200 hours standby time meaning with everything off like you have still uses 1% every 2 hours at BEST case.

In theory yes, however trully it requires ram and pulls data just as much as it would had you not had it

What I'm saying is if you were to keep juice defender it would be as if you did not turn anything off but didn't have it. Reguardless its easier just to do what it does.... which is turn data off and wifi off before you turn the screen off... besides JD doesn't work on cm7 if ur on it.

For you!!! I use juice defender and get batter battery with than without... I only use it cuz I am to lazy/always forget to turn things off when I'm not using them! Without 10 hours of battery with 3 hours screen on time... with I get 15 hours at least with the same amount of screen on time and using it exactly the same way I always do... some people have use for it, just because you don't doesn't mean it doesn't work!

Even if you turn your phone off the battery is till going to drain, albeit much slower. That's just the way electricity works..

It still eventually starts losing a charge. Electrical charge doesn't just "last forever" cause it's not being used.

setcpu
root your phone, and invest in the donate version of setcpu, (so you can set profiles) set up a profile for "Screen Off" and make it a high priority. Underclock your processor to max=200, min=100. Your screen is off, your processor has NO good reason to work so hard. Yes, the phone still works and data is still on, but the processor uses very VERY little battery juice.
I did this, and went to sleep w/ a fully charged battery 100% and woke back up with a fully charged battery 100%.
I'm also on CM7 using Samuari kernal, so that's helping me too, but the underclocking while ur not "using" your phone works.

That is accurate. Like Windows all apps running on your phone go through Android system. It is the OS. In Froyo it was incorrectly pushed to the display percentage. If you have light usage and after about 12 hours your percentage should be between 60 to 70 percent. Freezing WiMax won't do anything since they only run if you turn on 4G.

Thanks Kenny,
Most times I am in the 80's, so when I saw things like WiMax line test, and mode change and Net test, i was wondering if those were things running, even though I never even bother with 4G. but i guess it makes sense that if I am not turning 4G on, ther services most likely are not causing any issues...i guess i will keep digging!

If you want, you can run CM7. It doesnt have any 4G stuff in it, and I hear typical android system usage is in the 20%'s.

With CPU Spy how much deep sleep does your phone get? Reboot, put it down for 30 minutes. Open it and check CPUSpy. You should have most of that as deep sleep. Of course this is off charger. Charging keeps phone awake at 100 Mhz.

911 is fixed, before a new build is posted Decad3nce needs to be home(school/work) as this is a serious matter, so it'd be best for him to handle it because his name is on it, as you can understand. mkasick found out what the issue was and fixed it, the Fascinate has it as well, the fix is for CDMA phones....the Vibrant might actually be f*cked... UberPinguin, mkasick, and noobnl did it yesterday though but called 911 today through proper means and verified that it works. And pushed the fix upstream to official CM so that it can be included in.

2(Q's) About Using Airplane Mode/ Battery

I have a question about using airplane mode, tomorow im taking off to NY and i was wondering can i use airplane mode so i can use my phone even though were in the plane? silly question but i'm just curious.
My 2nd question is iv'e been using my 3500 mAh battery for a bit now and i wanted to know can i just pop in my stock OEM 1500 mAh battery and charge it up to 100% and swap it back out for the 3500 mAh. or will i need to calibrate again because i want to make sure my phone will last during the time plus so i can just take one out and throw the other in when it dies.
I don't want to calibrate again?
Any help is appreciated TIA
If u put ur phone on airplane mode for the flight u will be fine. Airplane mode just shuts of the radio transmitter in the phone.

Sorry can u give me a quick step on how? lol i feel like newb right now i just never messed with using multiple batteries before.
I recommend turning on airplane mode when the plane leaves the gate, since you'll still have to turn the phone off for takeoff. Then, if you want to use it when the plane gets up to cruising, it'll start right up in airplane mode and you won't have to worry about quickly enabling it at startup.

Yeah, that's a relic of the past, when at-the-time modern electronics used to cause severe interference with the radios and other flight tools. Since take-off and landing require a lot more concentration than cruising does, they make everyone else turn off any possible source of interference. From what I understand, as long as the antenna is turned off, there is little reason for them to care anymore, but now it's almost become tradition and doesn't seem like they want to change it...
go ahead and use your phone in airplane mode. don't let them see it right away though. like mid way through flight, go ahead and expose the phone with airplane mode on. that will demonstrate to flight crew that there is no immidiate danger. worse comes to worse, they just request of you to turn it off.
"no big deal".

T-Mobile Terrible Battery Life

Hi everyone I got my phone 4 days ago and have been through charge cycles but my battery life sucks. I only get a Max of 2hrs on screen time and 12 hours with the phone on (if its in airplane mode the whole time). Also, it takes forever to charge. I charged it from 7pm to 10:30pm and it went from 2% to 34%. And as i type this message (on wifi) I lost 3% battery life. What should I do?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Also it seems that display takes up 50% battery (which is good) but as soon as I send one text, phone immediately goes to 50% and display down to 18%. It stays that way all day and rebooting does not help. And the battery percent goes up and down without charging. And yes I have calibrated it multiple times
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Have you considered getting another battery

Yup, I can get 4+ hours screen time, not on power saver. You need to swap your phone out, something's not right.
Something is definitely wrong. I had a 45 minute conversation in my car today with the screen on for navigation and it only drained 15%. I was quite impressed.

Need battery tips for 6+ hrs screen time

Hi guys using wicked with trinity 7b. See a few people posting 2 days on one charge and over 6 hours screen time. Would like to know how as i cannot get anywhere near that. I use system tuner, odex my Rom and kill my tasks whenever possible. I use lh2 modem.
Anyone with huge battery time please help us out here. I'm sure many of us would like some help. Also if you tweak your build.prop press share that.
Looking for details. I'm not a noob
sgs3 : wicked v6 Rom : uv : odexed : trinity
They are not using the stock battery. If you want battery like that, buy an extended battery. That is the only answer.
What I find most telling in many of these screen shots is that Device Idle and Cell Standby are almost always in the top.

Cell standby is actually lying. It was coded with a decimal in the wrong place and so it shows that it uses a lot more than it actually does. Purely cosmetic really, but can be annoying when testing battery issues.
Edit: many custom roms have corrected this btw.

Ya, I saw that before. There is a zip floating around here somewhere that moves it from .34 to 3.4 and fixes it. But you're right that most custom ROMs have this (Cell Standby) fixed.
I just mainly think that Device Idle even being in the top 3 or 4 is a very telling sign that the phone is not being used very much.
Install the easy battery saver app.
I hate to be the jerk... but OP has spammed every rom thread nearly bugging about screen time. Nowadays its hard to get 6+ hours of screen time. Maybe switch to an older, dumber phone with not as sexy as display and you will have better luck. Or carry a spare battery... or strategically place chargers in common spots.

This isn't a battery screenshot thread. You charged your battery anyways.

The only way i could probably make 6 hours screen on time would be to lower brightness all the way down, turn off data whenever Im not using it, turn of autosync, underclock and undervolt. But then what would be the point of me having such an awesome phone

Because you CAN.

I do all those things (-underclocking and undervolting), and more, because I don't need most of this on all the time, and my screen time is great. Plus, I bought a 4400mah extended battery & get 4-5 days on a single charge.
Then u need an old nokia.

When you plug you phone in the charger the hours reset, my screenshots were to show that its not impossible to get 6+ hours, if I under clock and turn everything off I can probably get that.
The liquid smooth ROM has amazing battery life, you should give it a try I think you will like it.

Screen shots are great guys. I do want to see them. Most importantly trying to see if there are deeper settings and apps to freeze or avoid and tweaks to build.prop etc.
Rom and kernel and modem used would be helpful.
Also, you did charge but the timer will only reset when you fully charge the phone.

This is most I can get with everything normal on ( data, sync, and music) I can reach six but I would have to under clock to 1.3-1.2ghz and turn off data.

How to conserve battey life?

My battery is dying faster than ever. I am on stock rooted JellyBean. My battery dies within four hours and right now i am streaming pandora and the phone is hot.
Could it be that I have a ton of apps on my phone? This did not happen before. I have about 350 apps:what: installed. Lol please do not judge me lol

Jesus Christ 350? That's a lot of apps running in the "background"
Is that all you do is listen to pandora? Because I'm just purely stock JB (not rooted) and my phone last 2 days without being charged and I stream pandora as well.
I honestly get better life when my phone isn't rooted. Very weird I know but I think I do anyway
But I do know a lot of battery saving tips..
It could be all of those apps then. Lol i forgot they run in that background. Oh wow lol that explains it. Im gonna uninstall most of them then lol

Do you also have your 3G always on? I always turn mine off when I don't use it. Also conserves battery
But yes 350 is a crap ton.

As with most phones, apps in background will kill battery, Screen on/brightness.. Times of no signal. Things of that nature.. When rooted i usually set background processes to 1 or 2 running at most.. Sign outta Gtalk (It's an auto sign in), Notifications (FB, and such) off (unless you really want on) Sync durations to longer intervals (Emails and such) i usually set mine to 4 hours or more, weather sync as well.. Those things will help improve life some what as well. No i don't have the S3 yet, Currently on an S2 (S3 comes Sat) but these are common things across the realm that will help.

Everything he said is true. Limit your processes which also helps a lot but not with 350 apps.

If streaming Pandora gotta have that connection... I typically run Juice Defender to auto disables 3g with screen off, enables when screen on.
My phone is tethered to a motorcycle battery, so my battery life is great.. Iittle hard to carry around a times.. but gets the job done.
Thanks everyone for the tips

Try using WiFI when you can more often, it actually consumes less battery than 3G, also download advanced task killer and only allow important apps to stay active when not using the phone, my battery life is easily 8-hrs even playing Internet Radio most of the day.
